LOVE this. Poor Maddy looked like she was going to be sick on that last set of box jumps. Love this series because my favourite athletes from all disciplines were involved.
But she finished it, that's why I love Maddy "The cutest tank in the World" Forberg the most of the girls (they are all lovable tho). Nice to see athletes doing stuff they don't usually do for our entertainment and to prove themselves
maddy was pretty disadvantaged in this one ngl , no one showed her how to row until the competition was already going AND her little shortass had the same height box as the others
She should also be able to jump higher because she has huge powerful legs as a powerlifter. She just wasnt good at it because it wasnt a movement she practiced.
the whole concept of crossfit is the same weights/standards for all athletes. So of course she will have the same height box. Which honestly shouldn't really matter because it still wasn't that tall of a box. And they actually gave her a crash course on the rower prior to the comp starting. Id also like to mention that DLB and mattie rogers also had very little experience with a rower. So ya she wasn't at any disadvantage shes just not as good at adapting to new movements as the others were.
The reason why CrossFit can be dangerous. Brooke’s form on the deadlift was a lot of back arching as she got got fatigued. I’ve done a lot of CrossFit, but my main issue is high speed Olympic and power lift movements without correct form and injury. Either way, awesome job from these ladies. Great job all around.
Todd Allison There were a lot of form issues in this. DLB didn’t come to full extension on the deadlifts, you’re supposed to land with full foot on the box, rowing bringing the bar to the bottom of the sternum… at my CrossFit box they take weeks to teach correct form and figure out proper progressions and scaling for everyone that comes into the gym (well, maybe only a couple days for experienced Crossfitters, but most people don’t have the experience). It’s sad they didn’t at least teach correct rowing and box jumping form to the ladies who hadn’t rowed before.
Idea for next season : bring in coaches! Assign / let athletes choose a coach for the entire comp or for a single event. The interaction of the different personalities would be dope, and viewers would get to see how high level coaches are able to help athletes strategize and adapt when the cards are stacked against them (i.e Maddy on the rower). Would be way more entertaining to get the insight of high level coaches while watching the athletes throw down than just watching the athletes slug it out for 10 minutes again.
Mark Fairman power is helpful, but think of guys and gals who tow crew. They are all like 6’5”. Power plus stroke length wins. Plus the deadlift was so light and her height again came into play with those box jumps. She was jumping roughly 50% of her total height 🤣
Well to be honest she's pretty disadvantaged compared to the rest of the athletes. Brooke = world class Crossfit Athlete, former professional dancer DLB = former miss Olympia, lifting for ~20 years Mattie = world class weightlifter, former gymnast and crossfitter Maddy = usapl powerlifter/college student.
Ryan AP. Agreed being taller is important in rowing to make a longer stroke, but there are lots of good lightweight rowers under 6ft. Technique is number 1. Its like being tall but not knowing how to play basketball. The vast majority of NBA players are over 6 2ft but doesnt mean you cant be a good player if you are not tall.
She was really smart about the box jumps. Instead of stepping down and putting that extra load on the quads everytime, just dropping down and using the coiled energy to spring right back up made her fly through those box jumps. Maybe it's because she was dealing with an injury, but you could see her carefully thinking through economy of movement and setting her form well the entire time. She wasted less energy than everyone else.
@@TrNdke it's not the injury I doubt it . It's crossfit. Crossfit pretty much teaches you to use more efficient ways to do things as it's more about the reps if anything. Hence why crossfit tend do a lot of kipping and get critisised for their form. It works good for these box jumps though.
I LOVE this series!! I have been watching it with my daughters (6 year old twins & and an 8 year old), and they have been asking to see them over and over again. Mattie Rogers is the only drug tested athlete in this competition. USADA (U.S. anti doping agency) is no joke. They can test Olympic athletes or hopefuls at any time, not just before or after competition.
ADdison Hunt I mean yeah, but only before competitions. That one Aussie got caught a few years back, they could use for training and hop off and pct long before to get it out of their system
Hahaha I was thinking this wasn't graded fairly because she wasn't finishing those deadlifts keeping a rounded back. Same with DLB though. Both of them had bad form!
It's super light. She could probably do 100 unbroken without even feeling it. She's so fit and does them fast because it's a timed event. If you look at her form in the first DL event, she is showing good form.
Say what you will about all the other methods for fitness, but Crossfit is the most well-rounded way to be fit. I appreciate all these ladies for all they've accomplished in their own fields and will continue to do so, however.
I believe every strength athlete or lifter should do hit style circuit training at the end of their volume phase training session for overall athleticism. Once in a while won’t hurt.
@@henrikdaddyboy2759 Which matters not at all if you aren't a competition level lifter. If this was on TV as a giant sports competition, trust i'd watch the WHOLE DAMN THING. This is SO FREAKING INSPIRING, i've only been lifting seriously for 7 weeks but WOW, this makes me wanna change careers and become a powerlifter lol
The Crossfit Games is the closest thing to this as an organized sporting events. And while you will see many Crossfit workouts in them, there are events that feature Olympic Weightlifting and even Powerlifting movements in them, swimming and gymnastics as well.
I legit thought she was gonna start crying before she started them
Tbf the box is like the same height as her
maddy was pretty disadvantaged in this one ngl , no one showed her how to row until the competition was already going AND her little shortass had the same height box as the others
YES!
She should also be able to jump higher because she has huge powerful legs as a powerlifter. She just wasnt good at it because it wasnt a movement she practiced.
@@karlystevens7013 huge powerlifter legs doesn't equate to higher jumping ability. Lean explosive runner legs do.
I powerlift and box jump. It's about understanding the movements.
the whole concept of crossfit is the same weights/standards for all athletes.
You can immediately see why she needed a spinal fusion lol
power lifter and Olympic lifter not giving in to the temptation to round their lower back on fast dead lifts
18:15
Thats because they didn't blow it out. But 95lbs is so light it's not hard
Would be way more entertaining to get the insight of high level coaches while watching the athletes throw down than just watching the athletes slug it out for 10 minutes again.
yes yes yes!
I love this idea
I like this idea
nobody would pick a crossfit coach tho...
@@albanemini1274 because high level CrossFit coaches don't exist or because you've no idea what you're talking about? Gonna guess option 2.
Maddy Forberg is gorgeous, and she's strong. She's like my new celebrity crush.
the extremely repetitive background music had me mute most of the video
Rachel Scales dang I literally didn’t even notice until I read this 😂
Brooke just smiling during the 3rd round of "Christine" - so badass
I love DLB she goes over and encourage Maddy!
Even though Maddy lost she’s still my swole mate💪🏼
Ditto! 💪🏼🥰
Who is "Mandy"??
Maddy‘s also the smallest. Height is beneficial when it cones to rowing and box jumping. But they‘re all incredible athletes
I've seen you comment on every video so far and I cannot tell who the fuck you ever be talking about
don't give spoilers in the top comments wth ruining the video....
Huge disadvantage to poor short Maddy in the row. She is like 3 feet tall!
She has lots power though. Her problem was she was rowing with her arms and not her legs and back.
she's almost a certified midget, her strength to weight ratio will be unmatched.
Brooke = world class Crossfit Athlete, former professional dancer
DLB = former miss Olympia, lifting for ~20 years
Mattie = world class weightlifter, former gymnast and crossfitter
Maddy = usapl powerlifter/college student.
Notification pops up = DAY MADE.
dangg DLB came in 2nd omggg but i swear how does brooke does her box jumps so effortlessly wtf
@@TrNdke it's all about technic
@@TrNdke it's not the injury I doubt it . It's crossfit. Crossfit pretty much teaches you to use more efficient ways to do things as it's more about the reps if anything. Hence why crossfit tend do a lot of kipping and get critisised for their form. It works good for these box jumps though.
Because Brooke is FIT!
Nishidake o
I just realized they do all 4 episodes in one day they must be exhausted
why nobody on the side trying to correct Maddy's rowing~~~poor girl!!!
It wouldn't have made a difference
I LOVE this series!! I have been watching it with my daughters (6 year old twins & and an 8 year old), and they have been asking to see them over and over again. They love things about each of the athletes, and were cheering Maddy on at the end! This series needs to just keep on going. Thanks for making it!
Mattie Rogers is the only drug tested athlete in this competition. USADA (U.S. anti doping agency) is no joke. They can test Olympic athletes or hopefuls at any time, not just before or after competition.
Ok...
no shit DLB and Brooke ence are blasting gear lmao
SMASHVILLE go far on var
CrossFit is drug tested
ADdison Hunt I mean yeah, but only before competitions. That one Aussie got caught a few years back, they could use for training and hop off and pct long before to get it out of their system
Mattie is the type you marry.. tall, strong, beautiful, humble, kind..
This series is soooo good. I'm very exciting about the next episode!
Women, muscle and with heart afire. God, it's heaven.
Brooke’s back those deadlifts tho 😰 I was screaming on the inside !
no wonder she has spinal issues
Hahaha I was thinking this wasn't graded fairly because she wasn't finishing those deadlifts keeping a rounded back. Same with DLB though. Both of them had bad form!
No wonder she had a back injury
It's super light. She could probably do 100 unbroken without even feeling it. She's so fit and does them fast because it's a timed event. If you look at her form in the first DL event, she is showing good form.
The third set had me worried for her. I literally said out loud “this is why CrossFit athletes get hurt!”
I love that they compete yet appreciate and celebrate the others!!!!
Say what you will about all the other methods for fitness, but Crossfit is the most well-rounded way to be fit. I appreciate all these ladies for all they've accomplished in their own fields and will continue to do so, however.
everyone was so good. Brooke is a beast
I believe every strength athlete or lifter should do hit style circuit training at the end of their volume phase training session for overall athleticism. Once in a while won’t hurt.
Pranav Gainz no
Bad idea. Its a waste of calories that could be used by the body to gain mass or power.
@@henrikdaddyboy2759 Which matters not at all if you aren't a competition level lifter. For your average person working out is about getting strong and being healthy, doing some endurance training every now and then just helps you be a more well rounded person.
Now, for competition lifters, dead on. Every ounce of training and recovery should be used making you better at what you're competing in.
I think it is probably good once a week maybe. As a bodybuilder my VO2max could be better.
Maddy still wins, cause shes the coolest
And the hottest👌👌
@@abarcomb44 Mattie tho
@@abarcomb44 disagree
She had the prettiest smile the whole way through.
by the rule of cool Maddy is undisputed champion for sure.
I’m pretty sure this is what hell would look like, having to do Christine for all eternity.
Awesome video again. Certainly shows how strong and mentally tough these women are tackling challenges outside of what they train for. I know a "Christine" would have me in pain for at least a week.
When the powerlifter said "it's time for a beer" I fell in love
It’s they’re work ethic that I admire most...just a different level then most people could ever imagine
Props to Maddy for persevering! I have only taken one CrossFit class in my life (first and last) and my one takeaway is that box jumps are the devil’s work!
Love this series.
Rowing coach watching this cringing through the 500 m pieces. I can only imagine the crazy splits these women could pull with like a half hour or technique work.
Let's see your deadlift and clean. I'm sure these girls will cringe at you.
@@josephyang2020 I'm sure they would. Especially my clean, I'm sure Mattie would go nuts. I also wasn't trying to be critical, and pointed out that with just a little bit of work they would probably be incredible. No need to start something.
@@nateshoemaker1 Holly shit did you just reasonably respond to unfair criticism? Am I on the right site? Is this RUclips??
I need some coaching for my row. I definitely hinge too early. Watching videos can only do so much. Sometimes you need and actual coach.
@@thorish5033 I would be more than happy to help out if you wanted to shoot some videos to me!
This is one of the best RUclips series I have ever watched. Love seeing the different methodologies mesh and seeing who really comes out on top❤
Love how they all support each other. Again, Brooke is amazing coming back from a recent injury and having no idea how she was going to do.
Best yet! I’m loving this competition but I hope my picks will win at the end (Brooke Ence & Mattie Rogers) 🔥💪🏽
Things u don't see every day: powerlifter jumping.
Dont see why they dont though, PAP and plyometric shit in general carries over perfectly
Awesome, DLB was really doing well! No surprise Brooke destroyed them
DLB had them Nanos
@Misogyny Man dont put everything on stéroïde
@Misogyny Man yup she looks like piana's face now a days
She takes the most roids
Indoor grow roids don't help in cardio
All the folks who were doing a workout like this for the first time? Extra props and respect❤️👏🏾
This is honestly one of my favorite programs of all time.you have these gods of athletes working together and expanding their knowledge together.whenever I don't feel like training I put this on. All these ladies kick ass!.👊😊
At first I questioned why they picked someone who was working through injuries as the CrossFit athlete. After the very first workout, I quit wondering. Lol
Sarah Mickler oof
She’s a Brute athlete and her husband is filming. Plus she’s very well known outside of the sport of CrossFit. Oxygen mag cover, major movie, etc etc
Athletes are usually always working through injuries of some nature and still compete.
PowerOfFem working through injury means still working AROUND the injury not the injury itself
Age group I guess
You guys just made my day at work 😂
yes I've been waiting for this all day!
I think Dana Linn Bailey did a great Job in the Crossfit Workout, realy good execution in the different Exercises, i did not expect that. 😃👍
Idk if yall knew what you were doing when you got all of them, but this is jackpot. Super athletes, super fun, positive, gorgeous and competitive. This was amazing, I didn't know about most of them and know I'm a fan them all.
F*&@ ing loving this series! Gaining inspiration as I set here writing an 8 week progressive overload plan. Get it!!!!
Love this series! Can’t wait for next weeks episode.
Brooke is a beast!!
IM ABSOLUTELY LOVING THESE VIDS!!! please do more because they're so empowering and motivating!!
Maddy, Mattie and DLB are so amazing to watch. Those three ladies are beyond inspiring.
Its cool to see the different sides of the lifting/Fitness industry, I bet none of the girls could ever complete each others actual training day, yet they're all strong in their own right
Watch out for people in the comments section being experts in weight training all of a sudden. Y’all need to calm down.
I mean....this type of video will probably draw a lot of fitness buffs. Not saying they're all right. But good form is basic stuff, and that seems to be the main issue here.
Brooke makes box jumps look so effortless. Nice!
Damn crossfitt is insane not for me but props to the people that do it. Keep the episodes coming!
These women are incredible!!!! This is the most inspiring thing I’ve ever seen on RUclips! Let’s see MORE AMAZING
WOMEN IN SPORTS!!!!
I was really hopping Mattie would pull ahead of DLB, but they all crushed this work out!
whoohhhh!!!! and right before im about to hit the gym, perfect timing
12:55 the girl plays off the missed high five so well
Poor Matty someone could have given her a little advice before the workout. Also is it just me or was Mattie the only one standing her deadlifts up.
I looove it when athletes try different sports because it creates a new found respect for every athlete and what they are capable off. I love love love this series!
Just find this and I’m in loveeee with these girls!!!
Please more episodes!
Can someone please tell Brook Ence how to deadlift ? 10:17
That's why she had spinal fusion...
It's the crossfit way
Not a crossfit fan here, but in all honesty, when your back muscles are as strong as hers, you're not really in danger of damaging your spine much with a weight so far below your max. If she was doing any kind of heavy weight for her, her for. Would've been much more acceptable.
Looks horrible
@@danielmorton4306 she has had a spinal fusion, so she should try and keep her back rounding to a minimum if she doesn't want to bust it again.
Last time I was this early Jacob Heppner was doing burpees.
Hahahahaha lmao
Pressing the like button, before even watching the video.
i love how the music matched up to brooke rowing. that was fantastic. also these women are amazing athletes omg
Please post more of this. I have four female crushes now and this can become addicting.
4 very athletic ladies. 4 different body shapes. 4 gorgeous ladies
Yessssss I get so excited for new updates on this series.
Ayeee any rowers out there? I literally spend my life on the erg 😅
I am freaking addicted to this!!!! Ugh!!! When is the next episode!!!???
I know nothing about crossfit, bodybuilding, powerlifting, and weightlifting. But, I can tell you right now that I don't even need to finish this series to know that every last one of them is a winner. I've never seen anyone work that hard in my life.
Cardio is crucial for ANY athlete-- these ladies are ah-may-zing!
Honestly getting frustrated I keep checking for the new video every day and still nothing 😭😩😩😩 post them all at once I need to binge
10:25 this is the problem I have with CrossFit. When you get tired in the workout and have to perform Olympic lifts or any complex compound movement, form starts to break down...
Whoaaaa! I am binge-watching this and I absolutely love it ❤️❤️❤️
So happy to see strong ladies giving their best for these challenges and encouraging each other when things go rough 💪!
These ladies are goals, baby 🥰
Living for this series and these women! I used to follow Mattie when she was a cheerleader and DLB got me interested in working out. Love it.
