When the Switch first released, I thought I wouldn’t ever get it since I didn’t have the money and I wasn’t the person to ask my parents for the newest console. Bob’s videos helped so much and I was so excited watching them as I was saving up to buy my Switch. Now I also have a Switch Lite, and a massive backlog of games lol
I was a day one purchaser of the Switch w/Breath of the Wild and pro controller. I've been a Nintendo fan since the NES, and this is by FAR my favorite console of all time. While I appreciate my PS, Xbox, and PC for what they offer, no one has tried to innovate like Nintendo. They give love and attention to things long abandoned by the other platforms, like couch co-op, and a general focus on fun and silliness (something we sorely need these days), all while delivering a consistent polish to their titles. All it needs now is a wider selection of N64 and Gamecube titles, and it will be absolutely perfect.
Hopefully now that the Switch is established and has enough first-party offerings to appeal to the masses, Nintendo has more freedom to experiment with its smaller franchises. It would be nice to see some representation from Metroid, Star Fox, F-Zero, Kid Icarus...hell, they could be weird and give us a brand new open world Ice Climbers game lol
This is what we’ve been asking them to do for years. People are on the verge of exploding for Metroid Prime 4, yet Nintendo has been edging them for years now. Holy shit, that would be awesome! GIVE US F-ZERO AND KID ICARUS, NINTENDO! WHERE THE FUCK IS MOTHER 3 for the U.S.!??!?!!?!!!

Me too, but at the same time I dont. I know scalpers will ruin the experience of trying to get a zelda edition switch. Specially with those bots they have.
My family got the Switch at launch, and I took it with me to my first year of High School. And now I’m graduating this year, it’s crazy how old but also new the switch feels.
I have a similar story. I was a college freshman when it was officially announceded. My highschool friends and I all at separate colleges streamed it together and we hung out for hours after. We had talked about the rumored NX all through highschool and it was incredible to see it all come to fruition. I was broke and sold my entire 3DS collection (which I worked a whole summer in HS to get) to get the switch at launch. Getting that box and opening it in my dorm was one of the best feels I ever had with spending money. Now I'm about to graduate college, my joy cons drift, but it is easily my favorite console

@@kaldogorath Honestly I said Peach because I'm biassed, and Peach is super nostalgic for me. Plus my favorite color is pink. I've never really gotten into Zelda, and I've never played Bayonetta. I just ordered mine! Along with Super Mario Odessey and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe after seeing Wulff Den's recs! I've been watching your videos since the Switch came out and I have been waiting to be financially stable before committing. Can't wait for it to arrive!
I skipped getting it at launch because I was waiting for a Switch Pro model, as was inevitable given Nintendo's frequent hardware revisions on their Nintendo DS line. But when Luigi's Mansion 3 came out I couldn't wait anymore and bought the new Switch model with Breath of the Wild, Luigi's Mansion 3, and Link's Awakening. Now I'm thinking of getting a Switch Lite! Thanks Bob for these videos you have made, they really helped me traverse the buying options.
Im constantly impressed with the visuals this little tablet pumps out. Games running on the same engines as the flashier "bigger" consoles with minor concessions from a device a tenth of the size. Amazing
First off, Bob, I too think that the red & blue looks amazing. Second, I am hoping 😜 that Nintendo will make the Switch more of a “permanent” kind of thing. Kinda like the way cell phones get updated (not yearly, of course). While iOS has changed dramatically in the last 13 years, in theory, you could run an app from back then now (with some minor tweaks to the code in the app). I guess it would be kinda of an endless backwards compatibly, but then they don’t have to keep rereleasing all their games.
Nice video, Man! I remember when I got my switch! It was 2017, and I was on a trip in Japan. I remember saving every penny on that trip to buy this beauty at the end
It would fail if Nintendo screwed the name again with WiiPortable. WiiU massive failure i believe was because of that, want to tailgate the wii. No identity.
Your 3 years of Switch video finally made me buy it last christmas, was a little bit anxious since the rumor of a new switch will be coming this year. Regardless, I am having a blast playing the console.
I like to wait when getting a new console. I bought my PS4 in winter of 2015, 2 years after the initial release date. Bought my Switch last Friday. Got the second revision with the improved battery life. Didn't see the point in the OLED one as that would have cost me at least 150$ more here in the EU and on top of the second revision being cheaper, I got a sweet bundle that gave me Mario Kart and 3 months of Nintendo Online in the box. I tend to wait overall. Even now with the PS5 I am waiting so that more games are released, there is a wide availability and the correct price or of course if you can snag a great bundle for a great price, that is an absolute godsend.
About “Nintendo scarcity” it could have been true for the switch, I had a college professor that owned the marketing company that was used to market one of Nintendo’s consoles and they did just that. They estimated demand and under produced (nintendo often does things that make the consumers question what they are thinking). And if you think about it this could be a very powerful conversion tool. If you create a shortage than maybe someone who was on the fence about getting one if they see it in stock would purchase it as they don’t know when there will be another chance to purchase it, keeping demand and prices higher for longer than a well stocked always available item.
I got my Switch during the quarantine last year, after watching youtubers playing and reviewing Nintendo games day in day out without having the possibility to play them myself. I got a Switch Lite because I'm holding out until the next gen Nintendo Switch console comes out. This year or the next, fingers crossed...
I got mine in early 2019 and I made a lot of friends out of my usual circle when I started playing smash during class with the people sitting around me and as well as in the locker rooms after my pe class was over. Needless to say the locker room got really loud
Just being able to take this console wherever you want is what makes the Switch special to me. Plus the huge selection and variety of games makes it that there’s always a game on the Switch for everyone. Absolutely love the Switch.
I just got a switch like 6 months ago after being on the fence for 2 years. Now it's been completely consuming my trying to enjoy all these games that have been pumped out over the last 4 years. Really wish I would have gotten one years ago and enjoyed stuff over time. Now Once I finish I single run through, I feel I need to move on to something new ASAP!
My last 4 years with my 1st gen switch has been a blast! My husband and I are very pleased with the console. I'm looking forward to getting a second switch soon so we don't fight over who gets to play 😆
I remember walking around San Francisco with my Dad and brother on launch day of the Switch, trying to at least find some hint of the console. And after a full day of going to store after store, we found a copy of Breath of the Wild and a grey Switch. We took it home, and that was all we played for the remainder of the weekend. Later, we got another Switch for myself and my brother to share, and I got a Switch Lite as a birthday present rather recently. I really do enjoy this console quite a bit, and I hope that Nintendo continues to support it long into the future.
I have not played since my Nintendo 64. When I saw the Mario 3-D all stars for the switch I picked up a switch light Just this past week. Between you and beatemups I am finding out about all these awesome titles to try! Thank you!
i still believe and hope that the new Switch be just a pimped up Switch dock which act as an external gpu, upgrading visuals in docked mode with DLSS. because in handheld mode, it's still just fine!
Can't believe it's already been 4 years of switch now! Still remember the first day I got my switch (on day 1: 3 Mar 2017), and had to skip work that day (with an additional excuse to get my work permit) just to make sure I got one. It then has been filling my weekends, travels, family trips greatly to this day. Best buy ever
I'm glad he mentioned apex because I'm absolutely psyched and every point he made was spot on! Luckily I got my switch in december in 2019 and I've had a blast so far even though I haven't been playing with the online subscription but I guess that just highlights how you don't necessarily need it but having it makes the experience that much better
The Game Boy Advance SP, DS/3DS and Switch are my all time favorite consoles. Can’t believe the Switch has been around for four year now! (I have my Switch in hand as I am watching this. 😆) Edit: I too think the Mario Red Switch is the best looking Switch to be released so far. Glad I was able to snag one on release day!
Just got mine this week and I'm pretty happy. It's my first nintendo device since SNES, and man... I don't remember when I had so much fun playing. Looking forward to the new gen launching and I won't wait 4 years next time haha
Got mine day one. My boss let me pick it up on shift, then I road home with it in my backpack, cruising home from work at 1am on my motorcycle, LA highway to myself. Set it up then, played BotW and never looked back.
I’ve never been much of a gamer past enjoying the occasional Nintendo game as a kid, but I got the switch lite last May to play animal crossing much like everyone else and I’ve loved it so much. My siblings and I are actually looking into getting a normal switch this year as well to use as the family console.
I've been with the Switch since the first information snippets appeared. I remember telling people about the concept and only receiving confused looks. Then it finally arrived at Day 1 and I cannot believe that it has already been 4 years. I have had it for such a long time and I own 90 games for the Switch, but it still feels so new and refreshing as if it just came out last year.
Two thru rent-a-center (first was returned, 2nd was acquired when I got income tax), traded that one off for a lite to see if id like the form factor which I didnt for the most part. Handed that one down, and bided my time till I found a switch at a pawn shop for about 200, so I talked them down to 160. Had to sell that one due to hard time from good ol' Covid. Got my income tax this year, and was able to find what seems like the last mario edition Switch in my area... So yeah, I've spent a bit on them lol.
I love my Switch. A good friend bought it on launch day and was hooked. I was skeptical. He came over, set the dock up, set the switch up, playing handheld. Then, he put the tablet in the dock and dejoyed the cons. I was instantly sold. I bought it as a birthday present to myself that summer.
Thank you for the last part: I was holding off from getting a switch and I waited since launch to get one and now, I don't really care about Nintendo's new console or "switch pro", I am happy to have the switch for eternity and I am probably getting it in summer. I actually don't know what to say(lol).
Got mine summer 2017 at Nintendo NYC and it's been great. Last year and now this year so far I've been playing it less because there hasn't really been much. I've also started to have drift problems recently. It's not all my controllers, just my pro-controller and 2 or 3 joy-cons, but it's still an issue. It also goes to show that it doesn't matter how old the controller is, it is prone to drift. I got my pro-controller the same time I got my Switch, and the last time I got any joy-cons was Christmas 2018.
I remember getting my switch near launch and the eshop only having about 10 games on it and I'd check it out everyday to see what new games came out. I literally only had BotW, Flip wars, and 36 fragments of midnight.
You need to pry those nails out of the coffin you put your Wii U in! I love my switch but the Wii U virtual console is still the best option for a lot of older games if you can't/won't pick up original hardware. I've bought and enjoyed both N64 zelda titles and finally beat Metroid Fusion on my Wii U. Game boy advance games! it's great
I ordered my first nintendo switch on Tuesday and got it yesterday. It came with Zelda BOTW, I bought Hollowknight from the eshop and I have pokemon sword arriving today. I know I'm a bit late on the switch bandwagon but I'm really excited, the announcement of the new pokemon games really sold me.
I got mine a year ago and I'm very happy with it. Being primarily a pc gamer and programmer, I don't play as much as I'd like but I try to play a few hours per month at the very least. Doing my first switch playthrough of botw on it lately.

When the Switch first released, I thought I wouldn’t ever get it since I didn’t have the money and I wasn’t the person to ask my parents for the newest console. Surprisingly, my mom got it for me out of nowhere in May 2017, thanks to my younger brother asking without me knowing.
When I got my Switch, I was finishing up 7th grade. Now, I’m a damn Junior in high school! I gotta think about frickin jobs and stuff now! It’s terrifying!
God, I wish time could slow down.
You still have plenty of time. I am in my 3rd year of college and my parents are very supportive. I got a pretty decent job on campus and do well for myself. You still have plenty of time to figure things out. Also, I am getting a switch soon!
I was in year 8 and now im going into college / sixth form…
I wish I will do like your parents do

That screen turned out to be pretty awesome.
I got my Nintendo Swich. During the pandemic and also got animal crossing and I can’t put it down. I love that game

Literally everyone just thinks that the switch only came out like a year or two ago..
I agree.
Ikr? I remember I started watching this channel a few years ago to prepare for getting a Switch. I really wanted to play BotW but apart from that I didn’t know anything. Bob’s videos helped so much and I was so excited watching them as I was saving up to buy my Switch. Now I also have a Switch Lite, and a massive backlog of games lol
I mean I literally got mine 2 years ago lol
*two not too :D
@@bobabubble3628 same. I got mine for Christmas back in 2019, which was fantastic timing considering how 2020 was.
Me too
I was a day one purchaser of the Switch w/Breath of the Wild and pro controller.
Couldn’t agree more!
We NEED kid icarus 2 on the switch
This is what we’ve been asking them to do for years. People are on the verge of exploding for Metroid Prime 4, yet Nintendo has been edging them for years now. Holy shit, that would be awesome!
GIVE US F-ZERO AND KID ICARUS, NINTENDO!
WHERE THE FUCK IS MOTHER 3 for the U.S.!??!?!!?!!!
Starfox Adventures for GameCube remade for the switch... I would die of excitement
Stop reminding me that all we got for metroid prime 4 was a jpeg in 2017 and an update that they’re restarting development

@@andrewgoo3093 Your argument makes a lot of sense if you believe that what you're saying is a fact rather than an opinion. But it's not factual, it is in fact an opinion. Those games no one wants to play have tons of people downloading them and enjoying them. And plenty of people don't only have 1 console, so that is a bit irrelevant to at least 50% of Switch owners. Probably higher but I'm being conservative rather than making things up to suit my needs.

I do, and I never understood it haha. You can share physical games, if you and your friend/sibling have a switch, 1 game is fine for 2 consoles.
@@kaldogorath I think there was a couple reasons:

It doesn’t feel like 4 years honestly, I got the original when it came out and finally upgraded to the new one about a year ago. Time sure does fly.
i’m hoping for a LOZ-themed switch soon. also so many good games coming up, people are crazy to wait!
How can you be crazy to wait?
While I’m hoping for BotW2 as well as other Zelda ports/remakes, I don’t really want to have to shell out for ANOTHER Switch console. But if it comes down to it and there is a revised Switch released bundled with BotW2 I’m pre-ordering that sh*t straight away lmao
I'm got my switch like one month ago
Just decal it and get those joycons

@@countlitmogaphil392 the funny thing is is I paid no attention to the Switch when it first came out, I just thought it was another crummy Nintendo console and that they were marketed more towards kids because that’s the impression I got from the WiiU. @@gagalover2k10 hmm... Tbh honest now that I think about it, yeah... And that combined with a better battery life and bigger library there was no reason for it to be as hated as it ended up being...
I have both Lite and Version 2, and I love both of it. You will love Lite as well.

Your 3 years of Switch video finally made me buy it last christmas, was a little bit anxious since the rumor of a new switch will be coming this year. Regardless, I am having a blast playing the console.
Happy 4th anniversary, Nintendo Switch. I actually bought the console a year after its release.
Your content helped me decide to buy a Switch. Best decision ever, definitely one of my favorite consoles.
That shot in your thumbnail is pretty damn impressive
I got my Switch during the quarantine last year, after watching youtubers playing and reviewing Nintendo games day in day out without having the possibility to play them myself. Later, we got another Switch for myself and my brother to share, and I got a Switch Lite as a birthday present rather recently. Yeah, I've been holding off for a pretty weird reason: my bank account

I actually don't know what to say(lol).
You know... I think this switch thing is gonna work out
Got mine summer 2017 at Nintendo NYC and it's been great.
Got mine February 2018, and I’m still using that Switch. Absolutely my favorite console.
