was kinda obvious anyways that's just kinda nintendo's thing with portable systems just look how many versions the gameboy, gameboy advanced, and the DS got. it would NOT surprise me at all if there was a switchXL/ switch pro at some point too

My Nintendo Wii has lasted for 12 years and still works, i think that Nintendo's newest console will be fine after 2 years
The big difference is that the switch is meant to be partially mobile, so it is subject to things like drops and the plastic screen scratching/breaking, unless you only use the switch in the doc, then ot will last for a long, long time

Mine has warped itself on dock and haven't even used that pos that much.. Not convinced at all about their quality. Began to wonder if I'm hearing something from fan and noticed warping, which is definitely also the reason for fan noise.
my psp is still alive and well but the screen is scratched, the thing where you put discs in the back were snapped off, buttons still okay even though i dropped it like 5 meters tall that time

Just ordered a Switch on Amazon today, along with "Super Mario Odyssey" and "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild." I literally can't wait to play after I get out of work tomorrow. Yes, I love my PS4 Pro to death... but there's just something about Nintendo that really takes me back to my childhood when I play their games. Something magical that a lot of other games today just can't quite replicate.
Update: Words cannot describe how much I love this thing! Ended up ordering "Octopath Traveler" as well. But both Mario and Zelda are out-friggin'-standing, and I love the convenience of the Switch!

Finally bought my Switch about a month ago. The only issue I have with it is prioritizing through the overwhelming amount of amazing content I'm going to inevitably download/play. I originally got it to play Smash online with my buddy during lockdown and maybe get Odyssey for solo fun. Right now I've already bought 3 indie games for my gf and we're itching to get SO much more when my micro SD comes in the mail. It's an amazing console. My only regret is not pulling the trigger sooner.

The only thing I feel like people should know is that switch games are not cheap. Nintendo games hardly go on sale and usually stay in the 60$ range even after they’ve been out for years (I’m looking at you Breath of the Wild)
Also Switch tax is very real. For many games, be ready to pay $10 more than on the other consoles.
Well what do you expect with something like Breath of the Wild, which easily earned game of the year and has many still willing to say it's their favorite game of all time. They know people want to buy it and they know it is easily worth that 60 dollars. And that's just the main AAA games Nintendo has released a fair amount of deals for some of their games and you can easily find yourself sinking money into cheaper titles on the switch, whether they be indie or third party

I’d tell people to buy it now. The massive amount of games, some truly amazing, makes it a no brainer. I love mine. Mario Kart and Call of the Wild are my two favorites with amazing graphics and awesome play. More titles are constantly being added. I prefer physical copies of the games for the same reasons you mentioned, but have downloaded a fair amount of digital content for those as well as entire digital games themselves. Even with newly announced console streaming to iPad by XBox and PS4, the versatility of this console still makes it a true competitor. BUY IT, BUY IT NOW!
I definitely disagree on the necessity of a pro controller. I think the joy cons are definitely the perfect size for Nintendo target audience, it just so happens that the more vocal nintendo fans, aka commentators on RUclips, all seem to have huge hands. You should definitely try out the controller grip that comes with the system for a few hours before getting a full on pro controller, because a lot of people will find that they dont find the 60 dollar price point worth it
i would tend to agree with you but when I found a pro controller at a second hand store for a great deal I got it and it changed everything. though it is not a necessity.
Sima Kaur yeah i have big hands and i used the joycons primarily while docked, clocked 200hrs on SMO before getting an 8bitdo. Is not as bad as they make it seem. I only got the (way before wulfs video)8bitdo for the nostalgia and the dpad since i love 2d platformers and because i can use it on the pc/raspberry pi.
No. The joycons are made of cheap plastic, the triggers suck, the buttons suck, the joysticks suck and furthermore, it has insane input lag when not in handheld mode. Those were a huge letdown for me
So hipsters in their 20's in Switch commercials are not the target audience? My hands cramp so bad with the joy-cons. The only way they are semi tolerable is with the Satisfye grip. BTW my hands are average size L.

My joy cons are my main controllers. There's something the Pro controller can't do, and that is single-hand motion aiming. There's nothing like flicking your wrist and immediately aiming at an opponent with near-perfect accuracy with your Luna Blaster in Splatoon 2

Yes, without a doubt. I got a Switch for Christmas even though I already have a gaming PC. The console has outstanding titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild both worth playing even for first timers. Never played a Zelda game before Breath of the Wild and it's amazing. It's even better since it's portable. At that point you can't complain about the console's processing power. The Switch is definitely still worth it unless Nintendo releases a revision of the switch with better specifications and a bigger battery.

@@harry3837 I didn't buy direct I bought it in a store. I'm crying today because the store I bought it at 2 days ago just dropped the price by (depending on where you live) about $50. I live in Poland so about 250 zloty. It's the cost of another game anyway. :'( But overall very happy with the purchase. I would recommend getting a decent micro sd card with purchase because Pikachu takes half of your internal storage leaving you with very little space even for the free games like fortnite ect.

There is absolutely no question here. If you don't have a Switch, I don't know what the heck you're thinking. It has a lot of fun games. I mean Smash Ultimate is incredibly fun. Breath of The Wild is an absolute must play game for any real gamer. Pokemon Let's Go was a great game other than being to easy, I really liked the swap in fighting for capturing and trainer battles. Mario Odyssey isn't my favorite Mario game ever, but still a fun game. Mario Maker 2 is going to be legendary. New Pokemon title soon. Really I can't see why anyone wouldn't want one.
I'm honestly not even going to bother with making levels in Mario Maker 2. My intention is to use the community to generate infinite Mario levels for asinine amounts of replayability.

People are mad about the Switch online cause the Wii U had a better online ecosystem than the Switch. That says a lot. Nintendo will go one step ahead and take two steps back.
I mean heck, the Wii U didn't even have friend codes but the Switch does. Wii U had virtual console, Switch doesn't. I will gladly play for a subscription service, but I won't pay for one that's not even worth it in the first place.
It's $20 sure, that's great, but what do you get for that? Basically nothing. I'm tired of rehashed NES games. Day 1 there should have been a huge library of the previous Virtual Console. I don't see how that's hard. If they had that, *THEN* it would be worth it. Just my opinion 🤷.

i mean switch got resident evil 0, 1, and 4 now so is that virtual console now that we got 3 gamecube games and then switch is getting 2 n64 games too ?
I miss the free online I got from the 3ds, subscriptions are just too expensive in Australia and I feel we get ripped off with those services. (infact it's the main reason we've never gotten the Xbox one or any PlayStation system since PS1.)
That said, atm I'm the only one I know with a switch right now (may change after pokémon comes out) so I can avoid the subscription services for now. Just feels so bizarre playing MHGU without the freedom to access online features the way we have since MH3 on the Wii, like a peice of the games been cut off being able to experience unless you have and extra $50 or so burning a hole in your pocket. I still love my switch but the lack of titles you can play on your already paid for Internet without another bunch of fees to play with friends on games you want to play is insulting after many years of it being free.

OK I'm sold. This would be my second Nintendo console, my first being an original Game Boy back in the day. The indie 3rd party games are the type of thing I want to play on the go.

I have been afraid to buy a switch. I really want to get one right now with the enormous list of great games it now has but I feel like I should wait till E3 to see if they are going to release a Switch Pro version.
I'll tell you now, there wont be. just simply because there's no need to make a Switch Pro. The sales numbers are skyrocketing and Nintendo already knows people are still gonna buy a Switch. I believe Nintendo themselves have debunked the Switch Pro rumor already. but still wait till E3 and see if there's any cool games that are your taste coming out.
TheSilent Tiger I am starting to save for a switch next month and i have the same concerns. I'm not sure whether to wait for further announcements about the "Switch Pro" within this year and next year or just buy the existing one once I have enough money.

I finally had the money to get one in January after being stuck with a handmedown Wii U and an Xbox One.
Not that I didn’t know it would be worth it, but I didn’t expect that I would be using it 90% of my gaming time. My Xbox has now become a Hulu/Apex/Red Dead machine and the vast majority of my time spent gaming has been on my Switch (Smash, Odyssey, Sonic Mania, LA Noire, NES games etc.).
Hell, I even prefer to play NBA 2K on my switch now because sure, the visual quality of the game is 3 times better on Xbox/PS4, but I can play franchise mode while, get this... taking a shit. I can’t wait to pick up BotW, DKC, Doom and Skyrim among others, so I can play the games I loved playing before, which I can now do however I want. On the TV, on handheld while TV is on in background, in the bathroom, in the car, at work on break.
That novelty which is now more than a novelty is priceless.
My xbox never gets used. Hulu or wwe 2k19 that is it. Next gen ms is out. Just playstation and nintendo

Watching people with big hands talk about how uncomfortable the joy cons are makes me feel lucky that I’m a small handed boi. Using the joy cons in both modes is no issue what so ever for me. If anything I prefer using separated joy cons over a pro controller because of the freedom of being able to relax and place your hands wherever you want.
I don’t understand the issue, I have fairly big hands, a 17 key fingerspan on a piano from C to the next E (that’s including the sharp keys) and I have no trouble playing the 3DS (mine’s the XL but still) and typing on a tiny iPhone 5 screen. The Switch with Joy-cons connected are most certainly going to be much nicer than even just the 3DS because you no longer have to support an upper screen.

I bought the Switch March 2019, Super Smash Bros edition, as my only console of the current generation (i dont own a gaming PC). And i gotta say, it has satisfied all of my gaming needs. Everything the switch doesnt cover well (for example, a game like Tenchu, or ratchet and clank) i play on things like PSP, Wii, PS3, etc. But i dont actually feel the need to invest in a PS4 or an Xbox One. I just never would play any of their games, except maybe for Monster Hunter World. I don't look for extreme variety or extreme quantity when i game. I look for quality. That and only that. And the Switch delivers quality on all fronts.
I can't wait to get the switch, I'm probably going to wait till around April or may, or for the new Pokemon sword and shield game to come out before so play, I really hope by the time I get one there's a persona game on it, like maybe a persona 5 version on the switch
I don't like how expensive the games that they re-release on the switch are. 79.99 in Canada for Diablo 3 is ridiculous. I haven't used my switch in months but there's a few games I'm looking forward to coming out soon
