julianmorning transferring saves and spending another $250 is more convenient than simply taking the Switch out of the dock how? What good does your OG Switch being docked all the time do?
The switch lite is much better for portable use by far. It's so much better, that buying it as a second device for your daily way to work on public transport or long breaks in university might be a reasonable decision. It's more sturdy, fits in a regular bag and is nicer to use handheld with a weight and size just a little bit bigger than a PS Vita. The Joycons commonly rip off of the original switch, if the switch is carried without special protection. If you have to carry an extra protective case for your Switch, you usually need a large bag for it - or even an extra bag. The Switch Light on the other hand fits well in a large pocket on cargo pants or even a small womans handbag. The regular Switch with a protective hard-shell doesn't even fit well in a regular briefcase. The most common failures on the Switch are Joycons where the rail breaks of or the Joystick gets pushed in during transport. Go on ebay and look for defective Joycons. This happens very frequently. If you know how to fix them, you can get a really good deal that way. The only issue you will see as often, are drifting joysticks, which also commonly happens during transport by pushing the joysticks in too much in your bag. The Switch Lite doesn't have these problems. I was hoping to get one with broken Joysticks and repair it, but you rarely find these. Also, I personally live together with my Girlfriend. We usually share one console - a regular switch with a large beamer attached. But to enjoy some games together, you just need a secondary device. Having a Switch Lite for that is just perfect. You could say, having one console per player would be easier - but in reality both consoles are shared based on who needs what in which moment. On the go, the Switch Lite is more desireable. At home, the regular Switch is better. So, the ability to easily grab whatever device you need right now and just continue your last savegame, would be awesome - and honestly was, what I expected when paying 35$ for an Nintendo online family subscription. But the troubles and long term planning users have to go through, just to switch the Switches is a terrible experience. Some of most important games doesn't even sync with the online backup at all. Compared to other consoles or Steam, the Switch's online service is a terrible deal, especially on a console-ecosystem that otherwise would be perfect for that usecase. I know, these are absolute "first-world"-Problems. But these are Problems that shouldn't be there in the first place, if Nintendo wouldn't make so stupid anti-consumer decisions. I expected better and had high hopes, but Nintendo absolutely underdelivered.
The only reason I bought the Switch lite was because I absolutely loved the turquoise color. I don’t care if it was a waste of money. I just think the Switch Lite looks cute. Plus I think the buttons are more squishy and comfortable to push.
@@rushunt2131 i buy digital xbox games so me and my wife both get the game, way better than buying two copies of the same game, its also convenient to not have to get up and change the game manually every time

As long as you're spending that $300 on something that brings you joy in your life. All work and no play, not good. I bought a switch and hardly play it. I bought another for my daughter. I should have let her use mine. I mostly play Playstation 4 VR, Beat Saber and Sparc.
I’d love to see Nintendo embrace cloud saves more. I want to live in a future where if my switch breaks or is stolen my Animal Crossing town can be redownloaded 🌸
No, they prefer you start a new island on a new switch, and a new copy of animal crossing. That's how Nintendo makes money, get people hooked on their games so you will go out and pay double for the cost of a new out of stock Switch from ebay.
I thought if you had Nintendo online you can have saved games online? Like a cloud save data, and then if your switch breaks you just get another with your same account...
@@retrogamerz5495 it only works for some games, so your basically paying the sub for some cloud saves, laggy online and the classics I guess which could use a better game selection
@@retrogamerz5495 Animal Crossing is a device game save which means it is not user saves. You cannot backup a device game save to your Cloud save. They did this because the game can only allow one Island World per Switch. All players sharing the Switch is a gamer on the island. There's no way they can allow you to save your own stuff this way.
Actually, If something like that happens and u can just contact nintendo and they'll just give u ur town back on your new device. They are also working on some other save file system for animal crossing so that this whole situation will be a little less complex but yeah i also hate the way nintendo aproaches online services
Update: a few months ago they updated the Switch to automatically transfer _cloud_ saves between consoles. However, that doesn't make the entire video invalid. Just that particular point. I do wish Nintendo changed their system a little bit so you could use your secondary console offline but only for a week, and once it connects to the internet, it does a check to see if you can play said installed games and if you can, it'll extend that week.
I think the entire thing of the second system needing to be connected to the internet at all times is to try and ensure that games cannot be played on multiple systems at the same time The check that the system does is actually to see if your games library is being used elsewhere at that point in time
Actually you don't need to be connected to the internet all the time with a secondary switch, it just need to check by connecting at one point then it will check again after 3 or so hours I think. I share a secondary account to play SMT 3 and usually I access the internet to play the game then turn airplane mode right after because if both of you are playing at the same time while connected to the internet, the switch will boot you out of the game.
@@zackmhuntr25 I HAVE 2 AND THE SECOND SWITCH ONLY CHECKS WHEN YOU START THE GAME, AFTER THAT YOU CAN GO OUTSIDE AND AS LONG AS YOU DIDNT CLOSE THAT GAME YOU CAN PLAY ALL HE TIME YOU WANT AND OUTSIDE YOU CAN JUST USE A PHONE AS A HOTSPOT FOR LIK T SECONDS TO OPEN ANOTHER GAME AND TURN IT OFF

@@JordanAngeline me and my brother had to share an island but since i started first, he couldn't do half the stuff. he got bored and now he doesnt play anymore. me and my brother had very conflicting ideas for our islands when we bought it. Why can't we have out own islands? why is nintendo limiting people who just wanna have a good time?
It's ironic that the console called switch discourages switching switches by switchers who just need to switch things up.... Nintendo is notorious for making the complex simple and the simple complex 👌
About the 2nd console having to be connected to the internet... I found out that it only needs the internet for the account checking (also if you want to play online but that’s another topic) but it doesn’t need to be hooked up to it all the time. You can play offline as much as you want once the Switch has made the account verification. So, when I want to take my secondary console with me and play offline I use my phone’s hotspot for the verification and when it’s done I just turn it off. I’ve been doing this when there’s no internet available and have played without any problems. Just thought it was wort mention it.
I had such a heart attack doing that yesterday. Midway through transferring, after 100%, my account on my original switch got deleted but the new swiitch said there was an error :'( Thankfully after a restart, my account was transferred to my new switch.
This happened more than once when I first got my Z+Z lite. Found out it was due to my sd card as I got it slightly cheaper, I gave the company I ordered from another chance n luckily the one that they sent me works fine and is still in my lite.
pandah - having both a regular Switch and a Switch lite is a total pain in the neck. It drives me crazy trying to remember which device i have set as my main device (so I can use it without internet). Nintendo needs to overhaul their system. They want people to have multiple devices but they make it damn near impossible.
I have a switch lite and yesterday I legit said “I’m going to buy a normal switch tomorrow” and now this pops up on my feed? Coincidence? I think not. I’m not buying a normal one now
Why don't you just trade in your lite? At GameXChange (don't know if that's local or a chain) you can trade in for real money. Then just go buy the other switch.
Same, except I got the lite. In my defense, my dad and I share a space out of town due to work commutes and he would love a Nintendo console in that space
@DezeraeN They had 3 total to sell before this Covid 19 mess fucked everything. My wife is a big Animal crossing fan and I knew it ment the world to her.
@@ainaz8248 They can't just restock limited edition a console like that, once they're out that's it. The regular switch is printing money keep that in mind.
@@jonklaus1466 But the stock of this one was cut short by the corona virus. It is more than fair to restock it. By the way, there is no limited quantity only limited time for when the item will last be restocked.
1:39 - "Nintendo is historically bad when dealing with account systems" That's quite the understatement. Switch still uses friend codes, for f***'s sake. There is no excuse for friend codes ever, we have _user names_ Nintendo!
Owning multiple Switches makes very little sense to me. Now, owning multiple docks? That is the pinnacle of convenience that Nintendo set out for with the Switch.
@@imheredontmakeabigdealouto9209 I also wanted to have a portable dock along the standard one, leaving the original standard dock at home and carrying something small with me for playing with friends and relatives. But then again, I'm pretty sure the dubious docks that have badly made USB-C controllers that break the Switch are still out in vast numbers, and the original is... well... that price is something (and those may also be fake, and hard to spot!)
@@aveionwilson1513 That is an option indeed, tho that would end up with just one dock (and charger too). I kinda like the chunky big original dock for home use (so easy to drop the Switch in place and doesn't fall), the safest bet that would be a best option is having an original dock board and connector, and one of those shells.
2:49 As annoying as it is that you can't just move the SD card to the new switch, it makes sense why bc if you could do that then ppl will super easily pirate games by just copying the files from a friend or downloading them from the internet
You can format it, redownload the games and easily give the files to your friend though. If you don't have the license, you won't be able to play it when it checks if your account owns the game. So making you format the SD cards is super ridiculous, you already have DRM to prevent piracy.
Normal new model Switch is back in stock everywhere for the MSRP original price. Boy am I laughing now at all the people who bought these things for 700-800 a pop. Hahahahahah
i remember my parents asking me if i was gonna get the Switch Lite when it released. like i know a lot of parents don't really get gaming or whatever, but come on.
Literally just bought the newer switch for the better battery, but I'm going to lose progress in New Horizons because I wanted that better battery life. That's *really* sad. Why are they punishing people who just want the best experience?
the one island per switch is just a way for nintendo to get more switch sales... and funny thing is, desperate people who have to share switches are actually falling into the trap. i have to share mine with my brother and i was really sad when it was one island per switch
Having a switch lite has honestly made my switch life a pain in the backside. Especially cause I have more than one account I bought games on, before online was a thing, so it's really a pain, especially without WiFi.
If you wanted, it’s possible you could combine those purchases onto a single account. Back on the Wii U I was able to call support and and do that, so I’d see about calling and seeing what happens!
@ Tiel Master It’s not a 100% certain, but often times if you ask about certain odd situations you might have a lucky break and be able to get something worked out. Good luck!
@@starbournehero771 yeah but right now might be a bad time. They have reduced customer service right now cause of the virus so I didn't even bother waiting on the call.
I find it extremely difficult for families with kids. Right now I only have my OG and the Lite, but if Nintendo hadn't made this so difficult I would easily have 2 more for my fiance and my son.
Nintendo is literally hurting their own sales because of their petty DRM paranoia. Honestly they deserve the sales losses because it's their own fault.
What exactly is your problem nothing is stopping you from getting everyone you know a switch. Do you just want your one account in everybodys switch. That's kinda wierd if so, no real need for it.
Nintendo developed the Switch in a way so you would only need one console to play on the go, or at home... 🤨 I don't get why people see the need to buy another Switch while one they already have, does the thing they want the new one to do.
for me i got both of the special pokemon switch the let's go regular switch and the SnS switch lite cause i am a massive pokemon collector and i don't trade with other people because i have no one i can trust won't give me a hacked mon, so i trade and get every single pokemon by myself, which having 2 switches is useful for something like that, lol, now that home is a thing less so but i still like doing it the way i'm used to
@@googleprofiel6814 Let's see. The game saves are stuck on the console, so if the console is lost, stolen or damaged...too bad. Unless you pay Nintendo a yearly fee to have cloud saves...and then they don't all work!!!!
And I was thinking of getting a Switch Lite and keeping my original Switch at home. Now I definitely won't bother. Way too much hassle. P.S I'd use my phone as a portable hot spot for my Switch Lite if I get one.
Luis Ahumada, I was thinking of to give a lite to my son, and have the original at the living room. Such a shame Nintendo wants people to buy multiple consoles but makes it harder.
Oh god the transfer from one switch to another. I just got an OLED and took me an entire afternoon to get everything from my Day1 Switch to my OLED. When I think back to my 3DS, it was done SO fast and only 1 thing to do but the Switch Data Transfer is horrible
Call Me Niles So they have to share it with all the other children? They would fight for it. And there would be parents who would not like that because then the children will start begging their parents to buy one for them and parents who haven’t already got a switch probably don’t want to buy 1 for their children afterwards.
In this day and age, 100 hours is childs play. I recently played the legend of zelda twilight princess, a gamecube game from 2006. It took me 48 and a half hours to beat it and by no means did i take my time.
I’ve been playing The Switcher lately. I’m level 20 (recommend level 33ish for the final mission) and I’m over 80 hours. Definitely some huge games out there!
I agree . I bought a switch lite back in April (I know I actually found one during the pandemic) then in May I stumbled upon a restock of the red box switches with the new revisions. Not only did I find issues you described with game saves but I also found I now never played my lite. The original plan was to have the original console in my game room in the basement and the lite upstairs in the bedroom... Well after accidentally earasing my save in Super Mario Deluxe. I quickly gave up on the concept and just sold my lite to my friend who still can't find a switch in the wild
I transferred all my stuff to my new Switch after getting the upgraded version last year and it took FOREVER trying to get all three my accounts transferred and re-download my games. Glad you mentioned the updates not coming with the data because I had a mini panic attack when I went to play BOTW again for the first time on my new Switch and the DLC was just gone lol. Also, the captures. I'd taken so many screenshots to remind me to do tasks in Stardew Valley that I would've cried if they just disappeared. Luckily, I had the foresight to back them up before the transfer but not everybody will. It's so stupid to me that Nintendo can't just have the same system as Xbox and PlayStation. Say what you want about the Xbox One, but it does cloud saves right: all your games are automatically synced and you can access them on any Xbox One as long as you're logged into your account. And you don't even need to pay for it.
This has absolutely deterred me from getting an additional Switch. I wanted a companion Switch or an additional special edition Switch, but it’s just too much of a hassle. My boyfriend also just got his own Switch after starting several games on mine. Sharing my games on his Switch so he can keep playing his save files from his own account has required me to make his Switch my primary Switch, which is fine for now, but could get complicated in the future. I’m also curious about what happens when there’s an additional cloud save on the same account (like if he played my games on his Switch on my account so I didn’t have to make his Switch my primary, but I’ve also played on my account on my own Switch. -I’m exhausted just from typing this out; it’s that complicated). Also, I would be absolutely devastated if I lost my Splatoon 2 data.
Yeah i bought a new switch for the better battery but it's just sitting there collecting dust because i can't transfer my splatoon data over to it. Waste of money
Ouch. That’s so sad! I’m not sure I’d have the will to start over either. Eventually I’d probably decide it’s worth it because I love that game, but I’d have to mourn for awhile first.
If you still have your old Switch you can transfer your Splatoon saves. My boyfriend was able to. You just can’t do it through the cloud. It’s not the most intuitive process, but there’s info about it on Nintendo’s website. I hope that helps!
@@buffythevideogameslayer2947 i sure hope so. I have far too many hours to just throw it all away. I already restarted once after i had over 300 hours, I wouldn't want to do it all over again. Not when i have over 3x as much time invested into this new save. Thanks for the hope though
Going from a switch lite to an actual switch makes sense you actually gain features. Its getting a switch lite when you already have a switch that baffling to me. ITs literally already portable and you can take off the joycons and its even smaller than the lite if its that much of a hassle for you.
Thought did cross my mind about getting a Switch Lite, and if I did, I already decided games I play on Lite will stay on Lite, so I would not have to bother with transferring data and saves all the time. And when my main Switch eventually bites the dust, I've already accepted my fate of just playing all my games again if the save data is lost.

I typically use my secondary non-family Switch when I'm not at home. The having to hook up to internet isn't too much of an inconvenience. I just turn on my phone's hotspot to do a quick verification check and I'm good to go.
The reason it isn't an intuitive process is because Nintendo don't expect or encourage you to own two Switches - nor do they expect you to play on somebody else's Switch with your account. If you have two homes or are required to move frequently between two living spaces, Microsoft and Sony expect you to own two consoles, because heaven forbid you unplug your PS4 or Xbox One, lest you be reprimanded by it. With a Switch, it's just logical that you'd simply buy a second dock. They never encourage using a Switch Lite as a "portable" version and keeping the real Switch permanently docked - no, they expect you to buy one or the other. It's just a byproduct of the way the majority treat their consoles. A Switch is designed to be personal and self-contained, whereas an Xbox One or a PS4 is more of a communal box, where multiple users will each have an account, rather than their own system. If you treat a Switch like an Xbox One or PS4, you're not going to have an optimal experience, and vice-versa. This is not a case of Nintendo doing something badly - it's a case of mistreating the device and expecting it to comply. It's like buying a Motorbike and a Peoplecarrier and expecting the petrol to seamlessly siphon between them when you need to use the other one. (Edit) The whole process is made even simpler if you have even the slightest bit of patience and a PC. If you insert your SD card into your computer (buy an adapter - they're incredibly cheap), you can just copy all of the files to a seperate storage device, reformat the SD to the second Switch and then just copy the files back over. Nintendo even have a tutorial on their website, should you need it.
@@JuanSinMiedo441 Ah, of course. Because it's the calendar year Two-Thousand and Twenty, any and all devices should be absolutely required to perform exactly as the user expects, even when they are clearly being used in ways that the manufacturer does not encourage or endorse. Absolutely. Now - if you'll excuse me - I'm off to seamlessly transfer all of my old alarm clock save data to my toaster.
Bruh even in Mobile games there is seamless transfer of your cloud saves Most of the time it doesn't even require tapping any buttons as signing in is automatic I dont see why this shouldn't be streamlined and made seamless on a home console/portable
This is why you do not go digital only with anything related to Nintendo. These clowns really don't know what they're doing. Safer to just use cartridges like the good ol' days. As for backing up your saves, you could always just install CFW and Checkpoint. Hackers exist to fill in the gaps that Nintendo leaves.
If you play offline games and have an early model yeah. I hope that by the time my switch's life comes to an end there'll be a new not-too-hard exploit but god knows, it's been years for the PS4 and the only exploit is either be on a very early fw version or a DNS based cfw with a 1/10 chance of crashing and a 1/100 chance of data corruption...
No need, just backup games and save data regularly on pc with a cheap sd card reader and forget having your collection took away from a closed nintendo store, thiefs etc.
Starbourne Usually not, because big titles like Smash are $60, so you would have to collectively spend $120 for two copies. The good thing about Mario Kart and Smash is that you can play on one Switch. Usually we use the normal Switch and play together on a TV. However, we are both fans of Animal Crossing, so when New Horizons released we got two copies (so we could each have our own island and progress in the game the same). It was a lot of money, but we have fun with that!
Starbourne If you have siblings that all like to play or just want your own thing, definitely just do some research on how multiplayer works for different games and see if the extra copy is worth it. I would especially recommend this for expensive games like Smash!
Keep the old one to mod it! I wouldn’t sell it because the new models as far as I know can’t be modded at all or it’s just really difficult. But if you’re going to mod that switch I would wait till after the next new Nintendo console when they stop going after the consoles that get modded.
I want a switch too :( and because of the virus and the limited amount of money my family has rn brcause my dad is stuck somewhere else and can't work and my parents can't get it for me. Even if they can they can't buy any games for it :(

Theres also the switch lite which is $250... just be happy you're not buying an xbox (xb1x was $740 at launch). I live in canada where prices and taxes per item are higher than high.
Please make sure they have different accounts so they dont accidently delete saves or make purchases i had an arguement with my sister recebtly about cloud sharing and were in our mid 20s lol had this problem with nintendo since the nintendo 64.
Super weird having to make my Switch Lite the “primary” switch and just never take the big Switch out... smaller switch is nicer for on the go, I’m never taking the joy cons off when out anyways.
I just did this with my ACNH Switch and it took me almost 2 hours before I got them to communicate and another 40 minutes to transfer the data. I had to reset the new Switch like 6 times before it took. It was so frustrating, then of course I had to redownload all my damn games. I've also noticed that the WIFI on the new Switch is a lot weaker than my original Switch and it pisses me off if I have to try and exchange it for another.
I've gotten relatively good at managing my saves between my switch and sw-lite, at any time I feel like I need to check a save, I've gotten use to turning my phone hotspot on to quick check the save which now-a-days is a rare thing. But I also rarely play more than one game at a time so save management is really easy in that aspect
Got to love when you finally get your old switch modded to then check out this video and see if it applies to owning a modded switch and a regular switch
I own both. I love the feeling of the Switch Lite. I love the nondetachable joy cons. I love the unibody design. I love the dpad. I love the light weight. I just wish it could output to a TV. If it could output to the TV, it would be the perfect Switch. I would gladly pay the same price as the OG Switch for a Switch Lite that docked.
I've been thinking more and more about getting a Switch Lite alongside my regular v2 but this does put me off a little bit. My plan has been to play some games on the Lite and some on the big boy and just leave them there. My roommate has a Switch Lite and honestly there are a lot of things it does better than the dockable Switch. It's more comfortable, the screen is brighter (not necessarily better, but brighter), the controls feel way better (both analog sticks and the buttons), and the lites size makes it alot easier to carry in the typical bags I use. I'm not tempted to bring nearly as many accessories... That's kind of a me problem though I guess. lmao
Yes, i csn totally relate to this, my original switch broke and got a new one and now i gotta connect to the internet every time i wanna play my digital games or use downloadable content
I found it an easier process than upgrading to the PS4 Pro(and then again when installing a bigger HDD). Nintendo has a lot of logistic issues but I honestly found it pretty painless. I was up and running with everything on the new Switch in a couple hours. It's a huge upgrade over how the 3DS handled it.
I'm considering having a Switch Lite as my secondary switch since most of my games are physical, and the battery life of my day 1 Switch is starting to piss me off lol
That's EXACTLY why I bought the newer version Switch, but now I have to deal with the cloud-save situation (and my favorite game on the system doesn't support saves at all). I hope it'll be worth it for the better battery
Have 6 switches now. Sharing one to my friend. Using regular switch and switch lite for myself. Other 3 are special editions and they are for the collection, always stay in the box.
The thing is... I want a second Island on Animal Crossing so I'm planning on buying a Switch light only for that. I'm not dumb. Nintendo is. I'm passionate!
I rememeber when I got a New 3DS XL, I was so scared if the weird way that the Transfer worked that I just kept my Old 3DS and Restarted everything on my New one...
I did this for about a month. I had a bonus at work and I decided to get the Switch Lite. I thought I could bring this Lite to work since it was annoying lugging around the OG Switch, but after seeing the convoluted process to make the Lite the primary and the fact you have to remember to keep syncing the save files so that your progress on the Lite is reflected on the OG Switch and vice versa....I ended up selling the Switch Lite to someone ...dassit. Not worth it IMO.
I don't see building a routine to alleviate that as all that convoluted, though. When you play in the living room, download the save data, and when you're finished for the evening you'd simply close the game out, grab your Lite (which I would keep on my bedroom nightstand) and sync the data before bed. Of course, this is all a moot point, now, as Nintendo has released a patch which automatically downloads save data onto another system so long as that system is connected to the internet. Sounds like you jumped the gun, there, Hoss.
This video is gonna be so much more relevant if they end up making a pro version of the Switch. I'm calling now that I will be a meme of trying to transfer save data between Switch and supposed Switch pro.
I just got myself a lite on top of my original switch, only had it for a couple of days so haven’t had issues with cloud saving yet. Hopefully I’ll he ok :)
I also got an animal crossing switch. I haven't transferred my data from my old switch yet. I thought I could just save everything on my SD card, but you know how it is lol.
Game save data is permanently on the internal memory as far as I know (or at least in the vast majority of games) and can't be moved to the card. The downloaded games or updates can indeed, but I would suspect them to be all encrypted too for the hardware in question, not even the account or your ID, but the machine itself. Being that the case you can backup all your SD card to the PC, say, if you suspect the card to be failing, and restore that to the same console, but not another one.
@@deadinside5431 I mean you can think that, but I'm married with no kids. Got plenty of money. Plus it's very pretty. I'm going to give my old one to my little brother. But I know that is a first world problem lol.

I have 2 switches, and I understand where he's coming from with this video, and by all means I don't want to hate I love his channel. But I would just like to get my opinion out there! I am 100% addicted to animal crossing and having the opportunity to have two different islands and not have to stress about having to choose between two different Island themes is amazing. And when one of them dies I can just move to the other one and let that one charge no biggie. I agree sometimes it can be stressful because you can only charge one overnight but I have two different docs so it's easier! But I enjoyed listening to your opinion in this video ☺️
I did buy another switch after doing a breakdown of all the items separately, I thought for the value, getting another switch would be worth it since I wanted more joy cons and a second docking station for my bedroom. Quickly found out how locked down Nintendo was about their accounts and all I could think of is how Apple is with their iPhones, and all that DRM BS...that, with the rumor of a new Switch prompted me to return it, and shortly there after, found an open box docking station, and joy cons for a fraction of the price.
I'm moving out in a week and I want to leave my switch and get another console for my new apartment since my mother plays Animal Crossing on my island every day and figuring out whether this is even possible or not is /SUCH/ a headache. It's insane how poor the user experience is for Nintendo products today
i agree. having multiple is a pain. when we got a regular switch (after about a year of just using a lite - for acnh and pokemon) i now solely use the reg switch because it has botw on it. i havent touched my lite in a month. rip my ac island.
I was tempted by the Switch lite when it first came out to use it as a secondary console but the cloud save system deterred me from bothering. I'm sure I'll get one eventually (likely near the end of the system cycle) because I really like the form factor but I'm in no rush. I 100% recommend turning the OG switch into an Android tablet. I did (once I got the AC switch) and it was a very easy process; the ability to stream my Steam games to my switch is glorious!
The most idiotic thing I’ve ever heard a Switch owner say: “I already have the regular Switch, so I bought a Switch Lite for portable gaming.”
julianmorning the convenience factor is using a single console for both, seamlessly transitioning from TV to handheld
I don't understand why people think that is a good idea, I mean they call it a "SWITCH" for a reason!
julianmorning transferring saves and spending another $250 is more convenient than simply taking the Switch out of the dock how?

I think the entire thing of the second system needing to be connected to the internet at all times is to try and ensure that games cannot be played on multiple systems at the same time
The check that the system does is actually to see if your games library is being used elsewhere at that point in time
Actually you don't need to be connected to the internet all the time with a secondary switch, it just need to check by connecting at one point then it will check again after 3 or so hours I think. I share a secondary account to play SMT 3 and usually I access the internet to play the game then turn airplane mode right after because if both of you are playing at the same time while connected to the internet, the switch will boot you out of the game.
@@zackmhuntr25

About the 2nd console having to be connected to the internet... I found out that it only needs the internet for the account checking (also if you want to play online but that’s another topic) but it doesn’t need to be hooked up to it all the time. You can play offline as much as you want once the Switch has made the account verification. So, when I want to take my secondary console with me and play offline I use my phone’s hotspot for the verification and when it’s done I just turn it off. I’ve been doing this when there’s no internet available and have played without any problems. Just thought it was wort mention it.
This exactly
I had such a heart attack doing that yesterday. Midway through transferring, after 100%, my account on my original switch got deleted but the new swiitch said there was an error :'( Thankfully after a restart, my account was transferred to my new switch.
Exact same thing happened to me, in-store with an exchange, whole process took 2 hours, thankfully it was a slow day lol

It's so stupid to me that Nintendo can't just have the same system as Xbox and PlayStation.

Haven’t played splatoon since I gave my friend my old switch and didn’t realize the cloud save feature didn’t work until after he’d wiped my switch.

(Edit)
The whole process is made even simpler if you have even the slightest bit of patience and a PC. If you insert your SD card into your computer (buy an adapter - they're incredibly cheap), you can just copy all of the files to a seperate storage device, reformat the SD to the second Switch and then just copy the files back over. Nintendo even have a tutorial on their website, should you need it.
It's actually all because of pokemon
Pokemon is THE source of all this securacy
Dude, it's 2020. This should be DEFAULT on any system.
@@JuanSinMiedo441 but you know pokemon is still struggling in the 90's
Bruh even in Mobile games there is seamless transfer of your cloud saves
Most of the time it doesn't even require tapping any buttons as signing in is automatic
I dont see why this shouldn't be streamlined and made seamless on a home console/portable
I hope that by the time my switch's life comes to an end there'll be a new not-too-hard exploit
but god knows, it's been years for the PS4 and the only exploit is either be on a very early fw version or a DNS based cfw with a 1/10 chance of crashing and a 1/100 chance of data corruption...
Tbh you sometimes can’t go cartridge, like in my country, an original Nintendo Switch cartridge is 120$ (Mario Oddysey and BOTW)
No need, just backup games and save data regularly on pc with a cheap sd card reader and forget having your collection took away from a closed nintendo store, thiefs etc.

Have either of you considered multiplayer games ie smash or Mario kart

It literally took me 10 minutes😂
I've gotten relatively good at managing my saves between my switch and sw-lite, at any time I feel like I need to check a save, I've gotten use to turning my phone hotspot on to quick check the save which now-a-days is a rare thing. But I also rarely play more than one game at a time so save management is really easy in that aspect

I own both. I love the feeling of the Switch Lite. I love the nondetachable joy cons. I love the unibody design. I love the dpad. I love the light weight. I just wish it could output to a TV. If it could output to the TV, it would be the perfect Switch. I would gladly pay the same price as the OG Switch for a Switch Lite that docked.
josh angelsberg But if you have a regular switch then why would you need to dock the lite?
jason le in that case I wouldn’t need to have the regular switch and could actually enjoy the “Switch” to the fullest
josh angelsberg Well the reason why you can’t dock it, is because you can’t detach the joy cons.
jason le There’s actually a missing hardware piece... 😔 because there are smaller docks out there, so that would have been fine
josh angelsberg What’s the point of docked if you can’t detach the joy cons
I've been thinking more and more about getting a Switch Lite alongside my regular v2 but this does put me off a little bit. My plan has been to play some games on the Lite and some on the big boy and just leave them there.
My roommate has a Switch Lite and honestly there are a lot of things it does better than the dockable Switch. It's more comfortable, the screen is brighter (not necessarily better, but brighter), the controls feel way better (both analog sticks and the buttons), and the lites size makes it alot easier to carry in the typical bags I use. I'm not tempted to bring nearly as many accessories... That's kind of a me problem though I guess. lmao

I kind of want to upgrade from the Lite. This makes me dread it though.
yea same i'm going to sell my lite to afford the full size
I rememeber when I got a New 3DS XL, I was so scared if the weird way that the Transfer worked that I just kept my Old 3DS and Restarted everything on my New one...
I see, Nintendo wants you to spend less money and only have one console for yourself and your family! Lmao
I really wanted the switch lite As a second switch, Now you are making me second guess that. Only reason is my main switch is never out of dock mode.

I also got an animal crossing switch. I haven't transferred my data from my old switch yet. I thought I could just save everything on my SD card, but you know how it is lol.
Brittany I think its a waste of money ngl

Did you buy second nintendo switch just to play animal crossing?
How do you sell your digital games? Why would it ever make sense to not buy physical?
Convince
