I first bought my switch in 2018. It was a brand new original switch I got on eBay on sale for Black Friday at $230, which was a steal compared to every other retailer at the time. I got it for Smash, of course, so in addition to the $230, I spent $60 on the game, $80 for a second set of joy cons, I think $40-$60 on a GameCube adapter, another $20 for some Chinese knockoff GameCube controllers, and $20 for Nintendo online. All together, I spent roughly $450-$470 and that’s not including tax and whatever games I downloaded first because I can’t remember them. Even at that severe Black Friday discount, the switch was pretty expensive to get started.

Another "essential" for the lite would be a screen protector.

Unless you plan on traveling with it, I wouldn’t bother. I have a big switch I keep at home without a screen protector and it’s just fine if not a little smudgy.
This comment doesn’t really matter because a screen protector is pretty inexpensive, but if you’re like me who spent nearly $500 getting a new switch and various accessories, it might make a difference.
I agree. Mine got scratched at home just by fitting too tightly into the dock!!!!
I agree better off spending a little bit of money on a screen protector rather than risking getting screatches or any permanent damage
I fell asleep playing on my lite once and I woke up and there was a tiny scratch. I was shook and now I’m never not using a screen protector again.
@@Ckoz2829 the one time I didn’t put my switch in case…something happened and “screen” cracked but when I peeled my screen protector of the real screen was fine, so I’d have been screwed otherwise lol
Basically you can be careful with it and stuff but you never know when sh*t happens so doesn’t hurt to have the extra protection

8bitdo's Zero 2 is AWESOME for the Switch's NES and SNES library! They even included a suspend menu shortcut for it ;D

@@mollz28 same way any controller connects to the regular switch, it connects to the light as a regular controller, the 8bitdo light connects as a pro controller.

Nope. For one thing, there are noise laws or people who would call the police depending on where you lived, for another, owning a gun isn't nearly as common as people outside the US seem to believe, lastly, that would get expensive. Shooting guns isn't a cheap hobby.

@@SharmClucas Granted, not everyone in the US is a gun enthusiast practicing their ideological freedoms, or whatever, but comparatively there are a lot who are. I agree that US citizens are a lot more diverse and dynamic than many seem to assume though. In other countries, citizens are often a lot more homogeneous in terms of ethnicity and culture.
For an optional accessory for the Switch Lite, I would suggest the "Anker PowerCore Nintendo Switch Edition". It makes sense for people that are commuting and aren't near an outlet.
For my accessories I decided on the MoKo silicone grip case which fits in the HORI slim case, you just have to put it backwards. Then I have a generic aluminum stand for when I have a controller connected, which is the Sn30 Pro+. Hands down that controller has been my favorite accessories purchase. I could make do with any case or stand, but that controller is just absolutely amazing!
i've never liked nintendo but i bought the switch lite because i felt it was a true portable experience and i think i wasn't wrong. I love the goddamn thing. i've had it for about a year and there are times in which i don't touch my ps4 for months like at all. A beautiful investment if you've never played anything nintendo has to offer and with tue new ports of the past generation games and some of this one, man, the experience is just awesome. The start+select button combination on the Zero 2 works as a ZL for me, it opens the phone in animal crossing.
A little known feature is that you can also make the dpad work as either stick or the dpad itself, though swapping them is a bit slow so it's not very useful for complex gameplay.

Jesus you dont need all of that. if you just got a switch lite or thinking about getting one, first off, do it they are amazing. and all you will really need is an sd card and a screen protector, ive had mine since November and ive never used a case, i carry it in my pocket as is and it is working just as it did the day i got it, no scratches, nothing
If those mini controllers one day become illegal for some reason, you could easily smuggle fourty at a time in your stomach when boarding a plane!

I bought a OG switch for myself and my kids and then got a blue switch lite for my wife when animal crossing came out so my wife didn’t have to fight for time on the og switch to play the game she really wanted to play(animal crossings new horizons) she loves the lite. We got the animal crossing case that was in this video and it’s awesome

The aluminum switch stand at 4:40 is an Omoton stand. I have not been able to find a link to purchase them on Amazon any longer, though, the product page is still there. Decent looking stand, their website shows it's just under $10 USD.

3:50 - at this point, I think it's safe to say "just don't buy non-Nintendo docks made during the first year of its life." From what I can tell, there hasn't been any reports of bricked Switch units being a problem in the past couple of years. All of the reputable manufacturers of Switch docks knows what happened and made sure they're not bricking Switches. Unless some new info has recently surfaced, I don't think there's much to talk about anyways.
I've never really done this but I'm going to go out of my way when I can to use your links to help us out because I want one of those controllers to my switch light thank you for actually making a really good video I appreciate all your input your jokes and the time you put in this video

I had one of those switch stands made of aluminum. My friend came over on Christmas night and kept knocking his switch over with the kickstand trying to charge it, so I just gave it to him.

I've literally never used my Switch in tabletop mode. The design of the Switch lite could have included a usb port. They take little to no power, and they're cheap. If anything (though it was a good video Bob!) this video has shown me how limited and stripped down the switch lite really is.
It has a standard USB-C port on the bottom, just like the full sized Switch. You can plug any old USB-C hub into it to connect USB-A peripherals.
I did just get a Switch Lite! I pre-ordered the Coral one and it’s gorgeous! 😍 And I did get the 128 gb microSD and a cheap grip for Best Buy. But I’m still looking for an animal crossing lite case and I’ll also be getting the charging dock, which I didn’t know existed. And I’ll be picking up some joycons for multiplayer. Thanks for the informational vid!
I have a kickstand with a hole in it to plug your official charger in. It's just plastic, but it has 4 or 5 angle options and but i got it as a gift from seller on aliexpress so don't know the name, also folded up it's thinner than that zero controller so it would be very good for switch lite. Also have a bigger more sturdy option for 2.5 bucks, but the concept is the same.

Only thing you need is the Satisfye grip and case. I hate the default ergos of the switch lite, I literally would've sold it immediately if there weren't ergo grips. And the Satisfye one is perfection.
They have those aluminum stands at 5 below and they work with my switch. Not that you can really go there right now, but it's cheap.

The 8bitdo zero is perfect if you like to emulate gen 1-5 pokwmon games on your phone, tablet or computer. It reminds me of the controls on a Gameboy micro.

There is a $25 flip case for the switch lite called the SMOS case I found and bought from Amazon. It’s virtually identical to the nintendo brand flip case but it comes in grey, teal, and yellow.
Can you recommend a good tube sock to store a switch light in when I am on the go?

I've heard a few people complain about the slim case not putting the Switch Lite to sleep. That's not a functionality the device itself has. No case can add that sensor to the device. And it seems like a strange thing for Nintendo to add to the device just to accommodate the 2% of Switch Lite owners that also bought this case. Just press the button.

I was actually looking for controllers for my switch lite. I have that simple grey cover. It's no longer 40 bucks - half that, and comes with a pretty heavy duty screen protector. I like it because the lid is sturdy enough if my hands slip off the switch it'll still catch on my fingers and not drop the switch.
