I have preordered it too and excited to see how they go about it. I can understand the logic on how they would be doing it. Its mostly the screen mirroring of the current screen by splitting it like HDMI splitter. I am curious to see how the whole hardware is designed and how user are going to access it. Also the 1080p upscaling. Exciting stuff.
I think they'll use a Raspberry Pi as a dock for the Switch Lite and output HDMI.

Holy shit. Oled replacement for the 3DS. Freaking….please. I’d pay for that in an instant. You’ll have some work cut out for you getting consistent color temperature between top and bottom screen, but if that could be done, that will be a game changer.
The bar is kind of low. Even Nintendo didn't do a good job matching color temperature between both. lol

Same here, I have 2 totk oled switch, but don't like taking them out the house. Because of this oled mod I bought a hyrule edition lite and buying another one next week. Now I gotta pre order a second mega kit lol
So excited I pre ordered the full matte black kit.
I know the Vita had OLED but it is a really old panel that is quite outdated. I feel like a swap kit for the slim ver with a modern OLED would be AMAZING

That would be genius, for years I had a Vita 2000 until I found a 1000 for a great price, better colors but has the mura effect unfortunately
@@Ren722 the 1000 has a way worse battery life tho like 3 hours LOL the 2000 is able to use the 1000 battery with the right back panel and you get 6 hours of battery instead.

FINALLY! I’ve been wondering the same exact thing. I’ve been modding for years but my favorite handhelds are PSP, New 3DS, and Switch Lite. None of which have OLED screen (or any screen) upgrades. Just replacements 💔 Thank you for founding this company! 💕
the psp does have a screen upgrade. not oled though.

Seeing the black bezel on the zelda switch lite sold it for me. Wanted the Touch+HDMI mod but wasn't sure how the black bezel would look until now. Looks great.

I preordered the touch OLED upgrade but was hesitant since I’d be losing the gold digitizer 13:43 has shown me the hyrule lite with a black digitizer doesn’t look bad AT ALL

I actually like the black bezel around the screen more than the color matched. it goes w/ the theme w/ the buttons.
I think I like the color matched better but the black bezel is more than acceptable with black buttons and sticks.
i love how it hides the actual screen bezel since with the gold bezel you can see the little bit of black between the actual screen and the gold glass!
Honestly wish Nintendo had the screen sit behind the case so there'd be no obvious bezels, they could still have the glass on the front but just sunken into the case to fit flush.

I find it really peculiar we have NO information on how the HDMI mod will work. ZERO. ZILCH. How does it work? Because the only thing he's confirmed is it won't require any soldering or case mods.
Yeah, the only thing I can think of is it's an internal adapter that can push out 720p video and audio to the USB C connector
I'm sure he would show us if was able to, he's probably still making final touches from the sound of it. Since the screen is super easy to install, I can kinda see how it might work already with just this video if it comes with parts to better fit these mods

He is not building screens himself, there is no parallax screen , at least that size, on the wholesale market, so 3d OLED would be impossible.

Switch 2 with LCD? Wtf? Really? With the hardware that got leaked (if it's accurate) that is kinda upsetting..
@@TwoGendersOnlyNintendo in their never ending greed will always (or at least for the last 20 years) release consoles with the cheapest hardware possible even if significantly better hardware is available and just means a few dollar less of profit per unit. It's infuriating, but it's Nintendo so they will get away with it.

Oh snap, PSP/DS OLED but with Taki's eye for correct color space?! You mentioned the GBC OLED which sadly doesn't have an option to emulate the correct colors, that could do with your power. If you decide to tackle the DS please also emulate the original GBA color space too

One thing i always have in mind, is there a way for the switch in handheld to trick it is in docked mode, so it has more power/resources. That could run the games with better framerates and/or less dynamic scaling for the resolution.
I’m not sure about modded lite consoles but I’m pretty sure you can do it on the bigger switch
But on a modded you can also adjust the clocks for the handheld profile so it doesn’t really matter if docking is available

Man if your able to get OLED on to the Switch 2 thats going to do numbers. Of all the Switch 2 leaks it's what I am fearing the most, and its super Nintendo give it a shitty screen then make a good OLED screen for a system refresh down the line. If that comes to pass and you can give us the option to skip that Nintendo garbage I'm damn sure that would be wildly successful.
Whats with that screen door look on the new panel? Its prominent in a few of the shots, like your first shot of echoes, and when youre playing Skyward Sword. Its hard to miss, and it doesnt look right. Maybe its got nothing to do with the screen, but its something im noticing through the video.
Cant wait to hear about 3DSXL screen upgrades though. I hope the 3D effect still works with the replacement screens. Sounds like a big endeavor, and I wish you the best of luck. If it works, I'll gladly be buying a few.
I'm curious too, it looks like it could be some kind of atifacting from recording a screen. But it wasn't mentioned in the video so I can't say, would be cool to know before placing an order though.
There is none. What you are referring to is aliasing caused by the camera filming the screen.
@@TakiUdon I can definitely see, what looks like, the oled pixels. It’s really noticeable in skyward sword such as at 15:25. Are you sure those little bubbles on the screen are from the camera filming? You don’t see those in person?
Edit: Seems it is from the camera. I just double checked skyward sword gameplay on a standard switch oled and you can see it there too.

YES, that is what I wanted to say. Many will say, just get an OLED version. The problem is I love my current switch and I also like to modding things
@@rajikkumastah452I like modding too, in fact my v1 is heavily modded. But I don't think I would put an OLED in it because once the Switch 2 drops, if it's backwards compatible with the leaked specification of an 8" screen, then the v1/v2 and even the OLED are obsolete imo.
The only Switch 1 model worth owning at that point will be the Switch Lite OLED, imo, because it fits a niche (highest quality hand-feel due to built-in controls and having the smallest form factor).

@billybobthorton2026 I remember him posting a video about this probably a year ago, he mentioned it in there and hasn't mentioned it since. It's super shady, he's obviously purposely not mentioning it now because he's selling it. Originally it was just a personal project.

BRO WE NEED DS LITE SCREENS ASAP. Both top and bottom. Laminated would be great including the touch screen. Make them affordable though.

I'm going to guess there's some kind of limitation on the screen itself; there's no way he wouldn't have offered his customers a bigger, bezel-less screen if he could have.

I saw one of these at the store when I went to buy Echoes of Wisdom; had no idea it existed. If I hadn't just spent a week rediscovering that I didn't like the way the on system controls felt on my OG Switch, I genuinely might have impulse bought it. It's beautiful x.x And that black bezel. I will be very excited for a v1 switch oled option. My switch shell cracked by the fan despite treating it carefully over the years. I haven't replaced the shell our of fear for damaging the screen in the process. Replacing the screen with an oled option would be the perfect opportunity for me!

Your idea is amazing! Since I added an OLED screen to my Game Boy Color, I always wonder why nobody is producing OLED screens for other consoles, such as the Nintendo Switch or Nintendo DS. These companies are missing the opportunity to make so much money, especially from me buying, haha
