another great alternative to the zen grip is Skull&Co.s NeoGrip. it fits both switch models (3 little screws to add or remove a tiny spacer depending on what model you have) and it has interchangable grips. you can also still dock the switch with the grip on.
The fixture for Switch is better in my opinion. You cab do more with it and its 100% more comfortable. You can fold everything up. Compact and adjustable. Plus you can use your pro controller. I really thing the fixture s1 is the 100% no brainer accessory for playing on the go. The smartest one out there.
The 8bitdo Ultimate controller is actually pretty sick. It's got hall sensor sticks and if you connect the dock to your pc instead of the switch, you can bluetooth to Switch and change between the two with a flip of a switch on the back.
Personally prefer the kk2 pro controller to it. Both are amazing, but kk2 pro edges it out for me, especially if you have bigger hands, the 8bitdo might feel slightly small and a bit uncomfortable.
@Just-J2 OHHH, now I know what you're talking about. I had one but had to return it because the joystick stopped going back to the center. Seems like Guilkit are great or they fail within a month.
I have the Nitro Deck in the SNES colorway. Gives me that hit of nostalgia, especially when playing the virtual console games... really enjoy this one.
One cheap game I don’t think you’ve talked about is called Shu. It’s a platformer and the art style and music are amazing. It really is quite calming and relaxing but also pretty hard at points. Just something I thought you might like.
These are some of my favorite videos you make. I love seeing the different gadgets that people come up with for the Switch. It makes me nostalgic for a time when there seemed to be a lot more whacky accessories you'd find for your console. These weren't "whacky", but then these are the sort of accessories I'm most likely to actually buy. You've also made me think more about that 8bitdo controller. I love my sn30 pro+, but I prefer the layout of the nintendo pro controller for most 3d games.
Dude, the Covert Dock and Mini is a banger of a product. I backed the Kickstarter years ago for the original Covert Dock, back when all the other 3rd party docks were killing switches. Took a gamble, and absolutely worth it. I can place this dock in my living room behind the tv stand, and not have the thing stick out like a sore thumb. 10/10 recommended!
@almaasi1995 I have an issue here and there with a display output, but I think that has to do more with usb hand-off to display output. It also doesn't occur that often. It's still absolutely worth the purchase if you need an extra dock and don't need all the USB A ports or Ethernet plug, especially when the official one is almost double the Mini.
another great alternative to the zen grip is Skull&Co.s NeoGrip. it fits both switch models (3 little screws to add or remove a tiny spacer depending on what model you have) and it has interchangable grips. you can also still dock the switch with the grip on.
Hmm, I feel the selling point on the Nitro Deck vs the Satisfye grip is more so the fact that the Nitro has a Dpad and bigger, back buttons and extra protection. Although Woodsy mentioned the back buttons, I was actually real keen on his opinion on the other two aspects of the product, but he didn't even mention them at all. On the other hand: I've been very anti digital Instax photos pretty much up until this video lol. So, I'm sold on that!
The Genki dock is mainly for portable use, like plugging into your hotel TV. At home you still need somewhere to put your Switch, or just lay it on the TV stand if it doesn't bother you. Best way to Dock it IMO is to lay the Dock flat.
Yeah, I prefer the Nintendo dock over any other dock. I like the drop in factor that I don’t get with any other dock that I’ve tried. All the other docks make me feel like I need to save up to pay for a usb port repair.
Try the Covert Dock Mini, you can't drop your Switch in but you will have a dock & charger in one + you will appreciate the small form factor, especially for travelling
I prefer the feel of the cheaper Dobe Eggshell myself, better ergonomics, cheaper at US$15 during discount and carries 4 games, gave the Retroflag away to a friend, granted it has a dpad, facial and shoulder button feel compared to the Egg.
I've been using and LOVING my 8BitDo controller for awhile! I play a lot on my computer and I love how I can pair the control to my computer and my switch (since I play at the same desk) and if I'm moving from playing say Genshin impact to Splatoon I just turn the controller over and switch it to Bluetooth and off I go! It's comfortable and I haven't had any dirft in it at all yet (although my husband has but he's really hard on controllers lol) overall it's a 10/10. I even got the cheaper version of it and use that souly for my steam deck when I play it on my TV. They are great
10:47 wow dude that is such a revolutionary concept like if they made it a thing to where you could share your screenshots to your social media feed and then went on your computer and then printed out a picture of that screenshot. Wow revolutionary
Have pre-ordered a Limited Edition Crystal Pink Nitro Deck & I’m pretty hyped for it! I don’t have any other Switch controllers, other than the joycon that came with it. I’m excited for a different look & feel to my OLED Switch & I might find the extra back buttons to be useful. Highly considering getting an 8bitDo controller, too 😅
Wood talking about the Nitro Deck: You lose the NFC reader and HD rumble, and that's BAD! Wood talking about the 8BitDo controller: it doesn't have an NFC reader or HD rumble, but that's fine, no one cares about those.
Dude I haven’t seen u in ages!!!! I’ve been super busy! Last I watched u u we’re going through a tough spell personally, so glad you’re all good and back up and running! You’re a living legend!!!! Love from the UK ❤
I prefer the Gulikit KingKong 2 Pro controller, since it has all of the features of the Official Switch Pro Controller minus the HD Rumble. So yes, it even has NFC support for all of your Amiibo's. Also, it has Hall Sensing triggers, as well as Electromagnetic sticks, so you don't need to worry about drifting with the controller. Though, it doesn't have back paddles, so if you prefer those, get the 8bitdo controller.
Agreed. Especially if you've got bigger hands, which makes the 8bitdo slightly uncomfortable as it's smaller in size and shaped a bit weirdly. It depends a lot on the game you play as well. If you don't have any use for back paddles then the kk2 is a better controller.
I picked up the fixture S2 with case. Used some peel and stick Felt to fill in some areas to make the 8bitdo controller fit and thats how I play on the go now and forever!
6:12 YO-KAI WATCH 4: WE ALL ARE LOOKING UP AT THE SAME SKY!!!!!! I LOVE Yo-kai Watch so I always bring it up!! (In fact it’s probably 20% or more of my comments 😂)
The Genki dock looks like an awesome choice for a dock to take on vacation. Takes next to no space and does everything you need from a dock while not at home. And 8bitdo definitely keeps meking some of the, if not THE best controllers right now it seems.
What I'd like to know about the back buttons is if they can be programmed to replace the click on the joysticks. I hate the click on the joysticks, because when I get really excited, like in a fight or something, I accidentally press down on the joystick. I had a fight at one point where suddenly I was squatting and my POV had changed, and I couldn't do anything. I bought a third party controller off Amazon that wakes up the switch and hacked it so the joystick click is disabled and now works off two buttons super glued to the back of the controller. I love this layout, but would like a more elegant solution.
I reached out to 8BitDo directly and asked their support if this could be done. They could have said, "you can map the joystick presses to 'null' and then the paddles to the joystick presses." But instead they sent me a video of them doing it! (There was no voice over, just awful music, but they stopped at each step and circled and pointed out things with their mouse cursor.) And it was less than 24 hours between the email and the response. I mean, that's customer service! I'm going to wait until Black Friday and see if there's a sale, and pick one of them up for sure.
8:00 if you connect a pro controller via USB, it'll also be paired, and stay paired after disconnecting. Though I can definitely see how picking it up is more convenient than disconnecting the USB-C cable.
My favorite controller ever is the 8bitdo ultimate. I use it on switch and pc. Also for about 3 years I've used a small 3rd party dock with no problems, makes it easy to take ur dock with you places, definitely worth it
My experience with the Satisfye grip will make me never trust them again, which makes me super sad. lol. But I'm glad you're still enjoying yours! This vid was fun! The printer was adorable!
5:45 Wood, seriously, as a gamer who recently had to get cubital tunnel surgery; if your hands get numb frequently, get that checked out. It might be carpal tunnel or cubital tunnel and it’s miserable, the surgery is 100% the best option, recovery isn’t too long.
I think it's about time for a new Nintendo console!. I mean think about it, the NES came out in 1985, SNES in 1991, N64 in 1996, Game Cube in 2001, Wii in 2006, Wii-U in 2012, Switch in 2017, so about a 5 to 6 year gap between consoles. The Switch has been out for 6 years, almost 7!
lol the audio sounded basically the same and perfectly fine. and ya my dock blocks the bottom right corner of my tv 😂. also I love your videos they are really well done and you've got a great personality, just thought you deserved to know that, you do a great job ❤👍🏻
I have the 8-bitdo controller and it's great overall. Real D-Pad and programable paddles are a game changer. (and yes it does wake the switch.. you have to shake it.) Sucks that I need to pull out my ProCon just to scan in Amiibos in Zelda but small price to pay. Speaking of small, that's my only complaint about the 8bitDo UltCon. It's too damn small AND the angle of the outer shell they chose to go with is too narrow. Should have flared out more like PS5 and XBOX controllers. Was really putting strain on my wrists so I ended up gluing on some closed-cell foam and then wrapping it in some nice grippy steering wheel cover that I bought and cut up.
I second the 8bitdo Ultimate Controller choice. It is so crisp I don't even want to use any other controller plus I can easily change it to PC or Switch with the toggle on the back.
The 8bitdo Ultimate controller effing rules. I use it for both my Switch and PC. My only criticism is that the handles could be flared out a bit more like an Xbox controller. That would elevate the comfort for me ten-fold.
I love the 8bitdo Ultimate Controller so much that I bought one for my older brother, and he loves it too. I now only use my Switch Pro Controller on the rare occasions where I forget to charge the Ultimate Controller. I also love how I can use it with PC too. I have the Genki Covert Dock too! Looking forward to taking it with me to Japan later this week.
i have the 8bitdo controller and i bought it for the colour matching for the oled but, it became my main "pro controller" of all since its so comfy to hold and love its so easy to use without all those connect this and that with buttons.
The one thing stopping me from buying the statisfye grip is that the ronin doesn’t come in red, red is my favorite color and I just bought the Mario oled and I don’t want to cover up the red
@BeatEmUps I would love to see some of the past games that you have played because i just watched one of you "games that are worth buying" videos and i was wondering if you post any vods where i can watch you play it.
5:43 I think your hands just went numb because of how you're laying and holding it above you. Same thing happens to me just holding my phone like that and watching a video.
The nitro deck has actually been a lifesaver. I haven’t been able to play my switch handheld bc all joycons no longer attach to the side of my switch. This was an easy fix and it’s super comfortable
