- This video shows you how to replace the fuel filter on your 2002 Ford F-150. This process is common to most Fords and should be applicable to any modern ford vehicle.

When trying to remove the fuel lines from the old filter, it helps tremendously if you cuss more.
Lol
Thanks! Went out and changed the fuel filter to my 2002 Ford F150! Took me less then 10 minutes.
Must be nice to be able to work on your car in shirtsleeve weather most of the year. Here in the East one of our problems for shade tree mechanics without a garage is that is just too cold outside to accomplish very much. Even on a nice Winter day where it's not bitter cold, you only have four hours of good sunlight to get the job done. Keep up the excellent videos!
Thank you for making this video. It saved me a lot of frustration in changing my own fuel filter.
Nice work. The aluminum tool is worth its weight in gold as compared to the plastic fuel line removal tools. Most especially where your truck is a 1990's model and there's far more crud and rust underneath the vehicle. Some of the more difficult aspects of this repair I've found is the rust flakes and dirt falling into your face as you're working underneath the vehicle. I bought a full face shield and its really made a big difference in my underside repair work. Just makes life easier.

Thank you for creating and posting this. I purchased the same tool that you had (as part of a kit in Autozone). I appreciate your time...well done, sir!
Two things I also do....use a small amount of New Clean Grease on both ends of the filter to ease the install then Take the old filter and blow in the direction of flow to see just how plugged the old one was.
Nice video able to see everthing clearly.
Nice vid. I find rotating my filter or giving a little back and forth twist on the lines as I pull them off helps release them. Thanks for posting this.
you video helped. Today on my dds 2001 f-150 4.6. changed the fuel filter, did tranny fluidand filter change, new brake pads and change of oil. But your video did help thx.
Thanks for making this video, was very helpful.
Just changed mine. Super easy. Tool helps alot
Exactly what I was looking for, thank you!!!
Just got me a 1 owner 2002 f150 has high miles on it but drives great and always had the oil changed every 3000 miles or every 3 months....but when i got it..i had to put U joints under it and noticed it still had the original fuel filter on it....so guess ill be changing it when the weather breaks in the spring...good video man thanks
Thank you very much , extremely helpful
Thanks for this video ... very helpful
Thanks for upload this video its, a really good demonstration
Awsome video saved me about 200$ i have the same model and year you have.. that didnt solve my problem though but needed to be done anyway, i think its fuel pump..
Very useful video. Would not have thought to remove fuel cap.
My nither
Swapped mine out today in fifteen minutes (including crawling under the truck time) thanks to your video.
Great video thank you!
real informal. Thanks!
This really helped!!!!
A good thing to add would be if the direction of flow means to the engine or from the tank.
Thank you sir!
big help!
Thank You
could replacing this fix my start? lately when instart my truck it takes a little longer than usual to start. also while driving around 65 mph. my rpms, shoot super low instead of 2,2k, is shoots down to 1,5k
Super easy thx. Tool is like $7 worth it
Do you have a video on changing out the cabin air filter
AWESOME VIDEO!!! Thanks... I will replace it anyway, but I don't know if that's my problem... I have an 03 Triton V8, and the OBD2 came back with the third cylinder misfire... Upon the mech checking, all the plugs are new as well as the coils... Now the OBD2 says first cylinder, so I'm drawing a blank... It runs like skipping a rock on the lake, that pause before the rock continues... Happens in idle also... Do you think the filter is the issue??? Thanks for any help
Nice video, thanks for posting!
Ever get told you look like Kevin Bacon?
Please wear safety goggles next time... eeek. my husband does the same thing. .so much can fly in your eyes. Very helpful thank you
you made it look easy ,now its my turn!!
My truck is a 2003. It misfires and shakes violently upon takeoff. Could this be the problem?
I had a similar problem on the F-150. It turned out that someone (not me) powerwashed the engine at some point and there were bad connections between the coils and the plugs. Having the misfire jump between cylinders is a bit odd. For sanity's sake, run some fuel injector cleaner through with your next tank of gas.
thanks pal auto parts worker said I did not need the tool, will go back in the morning and get one....1/2 or 3/8 ??
the filters usually come with a 2 really crap removal tools. They actually work ok.... people the trick to removing the fuel lines with the tool is to first push the connection towards the tool while pushing the tool in then pull back. ALWAYS pops right off. Also nothing wrong with the plastic tools if you work on fuel lines less than 10 times a year....
What side is it on
Need help my 02 f150 puts and jerk when I stop at a light changed all 4 o2 sensors still doing it help please
Fred Smith check your spark plugs or your mass air flow sensor
Face protection is always a good idea when working underneath a vehicle. I have an array of items from a full facemask, to goggles, glasses and even swim goggles. Suprisingly, because of how hot it is here in Phoenix I most often wear old swim goggles. Everything else fogs up on me.
if i already replace the fuel pump and fuel filter and ran the truck for three mins and the truck just shut off and will not start again, someone told me to check the fuel pump relay switch but i have no clue where it is can you help me out
Is this the best ford can do I hate the quick connect lines, there is nothing quick or easy about it. They suck
push the line forward towards the tool before pulling back and you will never have a problem... I love them. they do suuuuck though if you dont push forward first. give it a shot, trust me
How about a 05 ford Explorer 4.0? ?
Same basic process, but the fuel tank/filter is on the other side of the vehicle.
02 ford explorer has the same system..the fuel lines very hard to disconnect, even with tools, i gave up.
OK
I'm afraid your question is a little vague. I'm not sure how to answer it.
Symptoms of needed replacement are obviously rpm issue and poor acceleration.? I wonder what could be causing my engine to wanna mildly jump while brake at red light
Vacuum leak. Over time the hoses become deteriorated and get holes in them causing bucking at a red light.
So for depressurizing the system, ALL you are doing is leaving the gas cap off? I was reading about people saying that you had to relieve the pressure by removing the fuse and letting the truck die. Simply removing the gas cap sounds more logical and easier on the truck!
3/8 or 5/16
do i just pull on the cords?
It really takes a 3/8 size not 1/2 otherwise it was helpful
do you really need that tool?
someone help!!
I'm pretty certain you will. Otherwise, you will be buggering something up. I didn't even mess about with the plastic one that came with the filter after viewing this video. Five aluminium tools to cover a multitude of applications at Autozone cost $19.00.
Yeah, that's great and all, but on my 99 Expy 4x4, the coque-sucker ford engineers put the filter in the least accessible place they could find. Above a cross member, between the frame and a shield, with practically no room to get hands or tools into.
Did I mention that the engineers of the Expy were coque-suckers?!
😂
I ran lucas through, and it's fine now without replacement
It’s under lol 😂 I’m gonna have to get under
10 years and they're price is a little more than double . . .
Fuel dumped everywhere after opening the gas cap. apparently that doesn't release fuel pressure. not very helpful.
Lyele Arnett extremely late but what you have to do is pull the fuse/relay for the fuel pump and crank the engine until there is no pressure left to fire.
No hablo bien el ingles pero si entendi algo
