This video is simply AMAZING. You hit a special niche, you somehow made a perfect video for “indie documentaries” lol, I feel like every video you find on RUclips about documentaries is focused on features or short documentaries in the professional world, but it was perfect because you directed it at individuals who understand documentaries but aren’t trying to do “professional documentaries” and don't have either the budget or the project to require such large crews or gear.
I think that this video sealed the deal for me on the BMPCC 6K Pro. Great to hear from a working filmmaker like myself give real world insight. Great job.
Another great feature of the pocket series for documentary work is having proper timecode. Pairing a pocket with a Tentacle Sync Track E lets me record audio even when I'm not rolling on the camera, and I never miss a sound byte. Syncing it all in post is super easy!
Absolutely love your motivation for choosing that mic. Just from those sample clips it looks like it NAILED what you were after. Mark me down for wanting a bigger breakdown on that mic and competing products.
would love a review on the mk400 and 440. the 400 specifically for a-roll talk to the camera type of shots and how to set up. the 440 to hear a range of different examples of sounds not being in a studio. nature, public roads, touristy places, etc.
That rig is cleeeeaaan. I've been rolling with the Pocket 6K, but want to jump to the Pro for the same reasons you mentioned. Thanks for the gear breakdown.
Also, love your rig setup and the bars beneath and the reasons you gave for them to protect your Box and places to grab onto and center the weight distro. really informative video. thank you again.
@@CineDailies I would love to see and hear this 4 min shot, it is really uplifting and calm at the same time. Did you release it somewhere or is it in the movie cut?
Thanks for this video.. Definitely learn some things I did not know before. This will help to expand on the use optional ways of rigging, specifically for the 6K Pro.
Super great. Wooden camera cage is the best option for sure, glad you’re not recording to a T7 lol. Awesome find on the mic, would love to watch a deeper dive on it
Nice man, normally I see some JANK ass builds from people but this is tight and clean. Also, I feel for your bank account, that wooden camera cage kit ain’t cheap!
I’m wondering if you could do a video or something explaining the switch from the e2-s6 to the 6k pro as I would love an in depth comparison of the two cameras!
Thanks for this instructive rig video. Love the aesthetic you're getting from Zeiss Milvus. I want to invest in the manual primes for my 6K Pro. Can you provide a link to the mod?
I have a custom camera rig that is very comfortable to hold and mount all my accessories on, but when I am filming unless I am using a tripod for stability, I prefer to use my gimbal. Why do you choose the hand held rig rather than a gimbal?
dude that ifootage clamp boompole setup is genius!!! haha im deff going for that on my next long shoot | you should give the fx6 a shot you would actually be way more discrete with one than with a bmpcc6kpro as opposed as to what you said
Haha make sure you have a heavy duty tripod and proper balance! But yeah th fx6 would be solid too. Though I think people would instantly know it's a "video camera" and I wouldn't have been able to go into alot of the locationa. But the BMPCC6K Pro looks like a DSLR camera so it caused more confusion hahha which worked in my favor
Hey Mate, would be interested in hearing more about the MKE 440 Mic. Specifically why you chose it over say the Rode Stereo VideoMic X. Been looking into these type mics myself. Cheers.
Hi! the stereo mic NEEDS to be up the lens? in the midle of the camera, to get a right audio...dont know what happens if you put it at one side of the cam..thanks!!
Instantly subscribed after seeing this video. You explain it so well and I love the authenticity & real-life applicability as I'm currently also looking to build a rig most likely with the BMPCC 6K Pro. Looking forward to more of your videos. A few things I noticed/was wondering: 02:02 - The footage quality here looks low. How come? 07:51 - You mentioned that there's a way to crop further with the 15MM, to 24MM and then even to 40. But I didn't quite catch that part that you can crop it till 40, how? With what sensor? 10:16 - in this scene it actually looks like you're able to use this piece of gear as a small slider, do you ever? Also, have you ever put this rig on a gimbal? Last question, it seems that there's a little glitch or dustspot on your sensor which I can see on the middle of the screen/your face, have you noticed?
My guy! Thanks for watching and giving feedback! As for the 2:02 - yeah that's strange, it looks like a YT problem. It's playing about low quality for me too. 7:51 - the 2.8k applies a heavy crop - I believe almost 1.7 on top of the 1.6 crop. so its a rough estimate. I will be putting this setup on a gimbal so stay tuned for that! that was the sun flare haha from that angle
Thank you for the detailed review of your documentary setup for the BMPC 6K Pro camera rig you use. Very educational. I'm seriously considering getting the URSA Mini Pro 12K myself. That doco you showed looks interesting. Has it been released yet ?
Dope. I was like what’s this Cine Dallie? I know the voice then u show up!! Lol Yes the 6K pro is a very versatile camera. I have a similar set up now.
Just recently started following you man, really love you work! I have two questions, how do you expose with false color? do you ever reach the yellow mark or is that too high? Also what Iso do you use for daylight scenes? 400, 800? wish you a great 2024 :)
Thanks for watching! I don't use false color on the pocket cameras. Just the histogram and traffic lights. These cameras need more light to perform well. So I over exposure Without blowing out my highlights. I'm normally around 1000 iso
Nice video! That MKE 440 stereo field sounds so immersive! Q: how does it work out if your subject is one person and closer? Did you swap mics to a mono then? Thanks. Left me curious about those Zeiss Milvus now :)
Amazing review and video. I am looking to buy my first and I cant see the difference between the BMCCP6k pro and the BMCCP G2, can you please discuss this difference and why it matters and how it would be best applied in each situation? Thank you.
There isn’t a difference when it comes to image quality. There only physical differences. The g2 doesn’t have internal NDs, the screen is only 400 or 500 nits
@@CineDailies thank you, guess ill wait to see if cyber monday has any deals and then get the BMPCC 6k Pro because i do want those internal NDs. do you feel that color correction that the G2 has is worth the ND trade offs?
@@CineDailies Ahh sorry.! I didn't saw that you have the battery plate under the camera. I have a V-Mount Battery Plate behind my 6K PRO and that makes the rig very long and odd in some way. But which plate you used to attach the Anton Bauer battery on beneath the rail system?
I really like most of this rig - creative ideas and all - but firstly that main lens choice nimbles me! Of course it's up to taste but I really did not like the low contrast look of the zeiss wide angle. The image of the sigma 18-35 looked way better IMO. The second problem to me is that it seems you tried to beat physics here. During the walking shots I can see serious micro jitters and I think a gh5 coupled with a vari ND would look much better at this point. So all this money is not worth it if there is jitters in the end. I would train some weight lifting and make your rig heavier or get an easy rig :D Or get a b cam for walking shots with IS.

Why 5.7K vs 6K? Do you find rolling shutter is improved?
