I wish I could say I’m not crying at the end of a camera review but I’d be lying
Love you girl!! You make this trip possible and we need a Tay and Jay advanture and we got it!
Hormones...😂
it aint about me and im crying lol !! you guys are awesome ! much love from dubai !!
Compositions in this video are CRAZY, angles are fire man.
Appreciate it fam!!
Beautiful. Beautiful shots and grade, comps, etc. Love it.
Thank you!!!
Amazing video dude! Some incredible shots in here. You handled the audio well by the way 😉
Thanks a ton! that means a lot from you bro HAHA
Great video and very informative. I was in Spain earlier this year and absolutely feel in love with it. Can’t wait to go back.❤
Same Bro. I wanna go back!
Bro! Killer footage man. Those lenses are dope too, but you’re killing these shots and composition. Loving this content
🙌🏽🙇🏽🙌🏽🙇🏽 I appreciate you watching fam!
Stumbled upon Taylor's video and immediately noticed the quality of your work in this project. Glad to have found your channel!
Hey thanks for this... a glimpse into not only the process, but also a real life look at the BMCC FF; Very beneficial to me as a BMD 6K Pro owner.
❤️
Great video Joshua, really enjoyed it. Some really nice shots also. Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video, man. I just got this camera as well, but before getting it I made a video about it and lot's of ppl complained of what I said, lol..., basically the same you've said in this one. This must've been an amazing experience! Nothing like shooting with nice people with similar frequency and vibe. Thanks for all the tips and great footage, and Happy holidays to you and your family and all the best for 2024!
This was dope. I greatly appreciated the style of editing.
Thanks for watching!
Love the footage!! It looks so good 😯 Really good and honest review too, I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the 6k FF and seeing how I get along with it.
Thanks fam! I'm sure you'll crush it
Welcome to Andalucia!! It was really nice to see all those places I have walked through so many times! And the image at 5:27 is just amazing!
I need to come back!
Thanks for doing a deeper look into this camera, hunt continues on for my next camera
glad to help!
Plaza de España, Las Setas and the Catedral de Sevilla ❤ This city just so enjoyable to visit! U prefer Granada (the Alhambra is maybe my favourite place I went during my stay in Andalucía) but I can’t lie there so much things to do and eat - especially- in Sevilla!!
Seeing Taylor featuring in your video was a surprise but they say great minds attract each other!
Awesome video, beautiful footage and wonderful review even if I don’t really care for pro grade video camera. Just insightful how you don’t care much about specs per se but about what you need for X or Y projects.
Can’t wait to see the full documentary.
Thanks
Great review mate! Totally agree on the right tool for the job. I loved the 6KFF in NYC recently, shooting open gate and being able to basically look like a photographer was great. I agree also about the lack of ProRes as well and the need for a stronger power delivery port.
Beautiful shots as well. By the way I loved the shots you got with the 35mm the most. That one of Taylor at sunset is insane 🔥
I have been eyeing this camera but am really concerned about shadows not being as clean as BMPCC. That's the biggest strength of BMPCC for me. Wondering if it's something they can fix in a firmware update or a hardware limitation that we are stuck with. Later case would be a huge bummer.
Pocket 6K Pro, URSA G2 owner, I rented this camera (6KFF). I would definitly advise to pass on this camera.@@photomotion
ugh that intro sequence so dreamy!
❤️
what a cool gig, looks like you had a blast!
I would do it alllll again!
Super engaging video and your take was very interesting and insightful. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you so much!
Another great video. Awesome work!
Glad you enjoyed it!
best review there is! and so great footage!!
Wow, thanks!
The best of it's kind. I love this camera.
hahah thanks?
Thanks for this honest review video!!
Thank you for watching!
Awesome video mate. I "almost" bought the NiSi Athenas (I saw your review on them) but ended up ordering the Meike FF cine lenses. I actually tested the Athenas and they are super nice - but I got slightly more for my money with the Meike (one extra lens!) Really enjoyed this video - looked like an awesome experience.
love your take on this camera.
I appreciate that!
Super informative and honest review! Thanks a lot for this 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Wow, amazing work!. Un saludo desde Andalucía!
🙌🏽🙌🏽
Great review, Nice to see a good critique of this camera! Not just, OMG, this thing is amazeballs 😂
Gotta keep it real! Haha
I'm glad you made this video, the Blackmagic cameras are phenomenal, but yes, they're made for people that work by themselves, are REALLY good at communicating & willing to work with BRAW (which is not the standard) or just getting into filmmaking.
The ports are absolutely the thing BMD must change the design and durability of, a consistent worry when having used Blackmagic cameras for years.
A 12K sensor camera in this form that also has Internal NDs or an Electronic Variable ND would be amazing! A guy can dream!
Looks you had an outstanding time! Cool stuff you're doing!
exactly!!! but thank you for watching!
Beautiful work!! Really liking the character out of those Athenas.
Thanks brotha! Yeah I'd be curious to see what you can do with them!
@@CineDailies They actually look like a killer set of smaller primes. I love my Vistas but def not travel friendly...
Love the shots of Cadiz and Sevilla. Weird to see local stuff to me in your videos but maan you made it look soo good
Next time lets meet up!
Beautifully done 🔥👌. Thank you for this practical review! The things you pointed out makes a lot of sense when you are using a camera in the real world!
I have to say, your channel in particular makes me feel hopeful that good work/jobs/careers happen to good people. Looks like you had a blast on that job and it was well deserved!
Cool review Joshua !
Thanks for watching!
What a fantastic video. Enjoyed listen to your thought process on the new bmcc6k and watching some beautiful shots. That batteryport is so bad and thats why I bought a memorycard for my bmpcc6k pro. I hate having cables on the side of the camer. Makes it less comfortable to hold aswell.
*Hey man, very cool vides. I like the style and colors. Good Job!* subscribed
💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Like the way you shoot, setup you gear is great. Nice work!
Thank you!
I'm with you regarding upgrading the ports.
Yeah man. A must change
Thanks for the review, i think this camera has minimal compromises for the price and overall package its offering. Ill take one!
I was born in Cádiz and that photo of the castle of San Sebastián gave me goose bumps.
Love that thanks for watching man. I would love to go back
Beautiful footage man A1
Thank ya brotha! I'll text you later
Handheld the entire trip with that rig, you’re a beast 😂
What a great video dude, very well put together. Looks like you got some killer shots. I’ve made notes 👌
Pleasure to meet you as well. Hopefully we can connect again 👊
🙇🏽🙇🏽🙇🏽 yes bro! Hopefully in NYC next year
Another great story and review bro
Much appreciated
That’s top shelf stuff right there 👍🏻
Ayeeee
You make this camera to produce a spectacular image. I mean, image itself is good, but you make it coming to live. Well done!! Very inspired. Now I feel I want to go on a trip with you hehe!!! No joke, this inspire me to go out.
Totally agree with you on the ports. It would benefit all manufacturers to have more premium ports: sdi instead of hdmi, locking power connectors etc. especially if they are labeling it ‘cine’ you would expect it to fit in the demands of those types of crews.
Braw only doesn’t make sense either.
I’ll say it again footage is beautiful. I assume you got hired by the company hosting the contest to film and follow your subject. If so, that’s a killer gig man.
It seems like the mavo wouldn’t be that much larger but would retain more run n gun benefits? Maybe it was the power consumption you were considering. But the power cable issue you had is why I would normally pick a cam with an integrated power distro.
Love this video man, felt like I was on the job with ya. Looking forward to more content from ya. I’m in fl too, trying to put together a filmmaker meetup on the west side. I’ll let you know if it happens. Would love to have you there.
great work, can't wait to film my fist project on the FF
Really enjoy your video!
I'm so glad!
if you need 12k for your desired punch-ins, you might want a telephoto lol.
Lol you missed the point I was making
just giving you a hard time :)@@CineDailies
The image is incredible
For real
Your footage is lovely, especially when the lady is walking through the narrow marlet street in the opening montage. If you are using a conversion LUT over the BRAW footage, which LUT are you using?
randomly seeing my town on a gear review video made me trip hahah hope you liked Puerto Real
Haha love that
Your shots are superb, as always, and you really make the Nisi lenses shine. And many thanks for sobering review. BMD seems to have settled on film schools as their core audience for their cine cameras. Sad.
I totally agree I would be happy to pay extra for a real pro level camera. I'm waiting on them to drop the new Ursa with this sensor.
Great video, thank you for sharing.
I also wanted BMD to put the 12k sensor into a smaller body (because I own an Ursa 12k, and wanted a B-cam to perfectly pair with it) , BUT they do NOT care about most of their consumers thoughts & opinions.
Yeah how was that not what happened!?!
Thanks for watching! Yea I hope that changes
Beautiful vid as always! I have the Anton Bauer base for my BMPCC6Kpro, I find that it swivels a lot since it's a single screw mount. How do you have it mounted to the cage and keep it stable?
Yeah I need to make a new mount for it. Its annoying how it moves
beautiful vid man!
Thank you!
Great footage and review as always. As important as reviews, feedback and opinions are, when a new camera is released let's not forget how good tech is nowadays. It's crazy good and only get better especially with firmware updates. I have a hunch that BM has some interesting firmware updates up their sleeves with this camera. So who knows? 😏
Transcode for this project? I realize for same day handoff you often need a camera capable of shooting ProRes, but in this case you would have had proxy files to hand off for editing, then pull the timeline into Resolve on your end for color and final render. Or did you have to turn in all your footage? * The power connection is a little weird and it can feel flimsy, but at the same time that’s a cable I keep backups for when on set or traveling. Nevertheless it shouldn’t eat the external battery. Once the internal battery is topped off it’s not drawing power. I use v-mounts with my CC and I don’t notice any unusual battery drain. I wonder if your external battery has a bad cell? Anyway, would a sturdier power attachment feel better? Probably, but a proper locking lemo connector will stick out a long way and be even more prone to snagging and damage. SDI? That would probably turn off entry level buyers. * At the same time, DR especially at ISO3200 does concern me. It seems like 1250 is the clean alternative ISO instead of 3200. Might BM be able to address this in firmware? I’m not sure, but if not then this camera will be limited to fairly controlled lighting situations.
9:48 I'm so happy to see the crew using a Nikon AIS lens with the ARRI, and seeing you getting amazing shots with the BMCC6K. I use my Nikon AIS lens set with my BMCC6K FF (which I love!) and it's super reassuring to see pros like you using the same gear as me. Cheers!
I was waiting to hear your thoughts on the 6k FF. Whether to get the 6k pro or the 6k ff, still unclear which one to choose 🤣
Shots were beautiful and the way how you structured the review into the vlog was also nice :)
I have this cam. It’s capable of amazing images. I honestly love it so much.
Great to hear!
Hi ! please, for a quick advice : are all your shots hand held by the top just like that ? ( arround 13 - 14 min in the timeline for example )I find it quite stable enough ..... I'm considering this camera and maybe i wouldn't need to consider a ronin RS3 pro ? especially since my scopes are quite long. Thanks
I like the music in the opening shots
On Audiio bro!
i have come back to this video so many times! Mostly for the 11:17 camera throw 🤣🤣
🤣🤣
la lluvia en sevilla es una maravilla . Cool video
Regarding the external battery's cable not working, was this a faulty cable, or did the port stop working? Curious to know what was the issue with the camera not recognizing the external battery. Thanks 💪🏻
Side Note (Color Finale Transcoder) will convert Braw to Prores within Final Cut or Premiere super easy.
Thanks for the info!
Hi. Do you receive a “no media detected” when playing back your footage?
Also, what would you say is the best storage card for this camera? Without dropping frames and things like that. Thanks
The Anton Bauer cable is the problem. I had two of them broken - and not on the 2 pin side but the d-tab side. Open the D-Tab plug and most likely the wires are broken because they installed it pre broken due to bending.
Sheessh
I really like mekie L mount to pl drop in on 6kFF bmc
cable locks always needed on the current and Zitay dummy / alvin cables have surge protection
yep
Great video man! Absolutely loved your setup and the review, with the 6K FF and 6K PRO with very low light, try shoot at ISO 1250, much better noise performance than 3200
Thanks man! 3200 is the second native ISO so it actually should perform better than 1250 but sadly that wasn't the case
Sooo I've been working with BM support on this issue. It appears they define the native ISO not as the actual hardware natives - but instead the ISO's at which the stops above/below middle gray are most equal. I guess they define native as their own thing so it's really confusing for the consumers. Hopefully they can fix this with a firmware update... maybe they are over amplifying at 3200... noise there and even at 1250 is really high. CineD just did their tests on the FF and specifically said to avoid the second natives. Their assessment (direct quote): "The higher native ISO is sort of a problem child; I would stay away from it if possible."@@CineDailies
@@ro8144 WHAT!! That's crazy - thanks for that info
Would it be possible for you to take some of your low light footage from this camera and show noise reduction process with a screenshare type video and maybe using something like neat? I know you showed post pre and post NR but given the report from CineD I think a video like that would do well and also be very helpful to the community. Would like to see if can trust the camera with a good NR routine. As of now it's defective compared to the information posted by BM. Their marketing on this camera pushed low light... this can be seen on their product page for this item. Please make the NR video if possible. Maybe after NR this performs better than the 6k pro with final image who knows. The daylight shots are nice. Sending positive vibes :)@@CineDailies
Through all my testing 1250 unscientifically works so much better!
Really beautiful images
Glad you like them!
Great video! My heart wants to love this camera but that form factor / build design is tough to commit to haha
I’ve seen so many people rip out the ports too, it’s sketch haha
The images look solid!
Thanks brotha!
The Nisi glass is awesome.
It's so good
I wouldn’t expect the camera to be great but it’s good I bought one. It’s a simple camera.
Im only a minute in but big fan of image you create
🙇🏽🙇🏽🙇🏽
That lowlight performance is shocking!
Seriously
I noticed you don't have a power cable clamp has that been an issue with the camera turning on and off ?
I thought the same thing, but that wasn't the issue.
Hello, the video is very good, do you know if suddenly by connecting it to an atoms you can directly get a processed 4K
I don't know what you mean
....just AMAZING!.
🙌🏽
Wow... that image quality/texture was... breathtaking.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hey good afternoon. found this video searching for compatibility with the 6k full frame and Athena lenses . what adapter do I need before I buy the nice Athena cine lenses ?
The PL to L mount. Use Metabones or the Nisi PL adapter
Or buy them in L mount!
I have been eyeing this camera but am really concerned about shadows not being as clean as BMPCC. That's the biggest strength of BMPCC for me. Wondering if it's something they can fix in a firmware update or a hardware limitation that we are stuck with. Later case would be a huge bummer.
I love this camera but I'm waiting for a Ursa mini pro with this sensor.
interesting
That nice pattern comes from the external battery. The power frequency is very inconsistent.
Where can I purchase the LUTs, I love the Look, Been looking for those kind of LUTS for ages...
I used dehancer
Footage looks pretty great to me.
In daylight, the blackmagic workflow can "respect" natural light, better than anything for me, for my eyes. ( i do my own theater screening since many years, with my own pictures, from scratch, to doremi DCP2000 and christies CP2230, 2k dci)
I'm early in my carrer 2y in perfect a cam for the job with the 6k pro
Totally
@Cine Dailies, I plan to get a Blackmagic camera, would you say get the new full frame one? Or a 6k g2? I see that the super 35 sensor seems to be a lot better in low light which is weird
thanks for asking, personally the main thing to think about is lenses. The L mount will give you the most flexibility. The 6k pro is EF or hard mount PL
@@CineDailies true! If I went with the 6k g2 or even a 6k pro, the Meike s35 lenses seem to be fantastic, but yeah pairing the right lense with that full frame sensor tho would be insane. But looking at the 6k pro vs 6k FF they both same price, just sensor size and resolutions are different. Also is the 6k DCI good? I see that’s a option in the new kne
@@Filmedbylamar the 6k Dci in the 6k pro? Yeah its solid from what I remember. But most of the time I was in the 5.7k res - I felt that was a good balance
@@CineDailies oh alrighty! Thank you so much! I’m looking for a camera that’s gonna be great for the best image, im getting into commercials & Small business social media content right now, so the new FF with that Open gate made me say that one, but then again the S35 seems to have more frame rates. Both seem to have a fantastic image. Just FF vs S35.
Flight was delayed! I can download this now
Sucks that your flight got delayed but LETS GOOO lol 20 mins to kill haha
I've also bought this camera and i can completely agree with all the point you said ! Noise could be a lote better for sure and i absolutely hate the power cable it uses :/
yeah its unfortunate they didn't put more love into this camera
@@CineDailies sad, but true :(
Regarding the second native ISO, whenever i shoot with my 6k pro, i'll rarely use it past 1600, since i only use it for commercials, so we have some control of the light.
If you treat this camera as a 400 ISO camera (or even 800, like Arri/Red) then this sensor is awesome, colors are truly beautiful and the OG on this camera is amazing!
But yeah, it does feel like a rushed camera, i might keep it until they release an Ursa with a full frame sensor so it can help me with the problems that i have with this camera, lack of internal ND, the Power connection and HDMI. If they add 6k 60p at OG would be awesome as well !
curious to know your thoughts on this as I havent seen footage of it anywhere yet, how do think this camera would fair covering a basketball game in open gate?
Not in open gate. Rolling shutter will be a nightmare and storage would fill up fast.
is there any adapter for the Sini PL lens to BMPC EF mount thx
No there isn't unfortunately, if I'm understanding what you're asking
Why am I crying from these frames right now😭
😭❤️
I’m here to say I think that beanie fits just fine.
Honestly, my wife even told me it looks like a condom, so I can't blame him haha
I was wondering what other cameras you considered before selecting the Blackmagic?
It was my Mavo or this.
Great video! I loved seeing your footage! Just a question - if you're handing it off to a professional editor why would BRAW be an issue? If they're not using Resolve, you just download a plugin for other NLEs. I edit BRAW in premiere with no issues. If I'm editing in Avid Media Composer, I transcode the footage anyway. I can't image a professional editor having an issue with raw footage, especially if they're used to cinema camera footage where they would be processing Red and Arri Raw files.
Great point. All of the editing post houses I've work with require Pro res if it's not RED, Sony, Arri raw. So that's been my experience.
@@CineDailies Got it! Thank you! I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I was missing about this specific camera. (I've only used the BMPCC 4k and 6k).
Hey weird question but what is that adapter attachment to secure it at the bottom?
Sure - the power base some with a 1/4 20 adapt. It's only one so it spins at times but it works
is that the grade/how it looks or is there a lot of IR pollution? just noticed a lot of warm/red shadows throughout. love your videos btw, for sure a fan!
In this case it's the grade - I was running the dehancer Kodak gold 200 lut. It pushes the Reds in the shadows
