- The song "Lover's Heart" was taped on an early 8mm camcorder in April, 1988 at an Old Songs, Inc. concert in Guilderland Center, NY. Silly Wizard was in fine form, for it was their final concert as a band, and it was a night to remember. "Lover's Heart" was written by Andy M. Stewart and Phil Cunningham.
Here are the lyrics to the song:
She was in the flowery garden when first she caught my eye
And I just a marching soldier she smiled as I passed by
The flowers she held were fresh and fair, her lips were full and red
And as I passed that shady bower, these words to me she said
"Last night we spoke of love, now we're forced to part
You leave to the sound of a marching drum and the beat of a lovers heart
She was by the shore in the evening when next I saw my dear
Running barefoot by the waterside, she called as I drew near
The sunlight glanced at the water's edge making fire of her auburn hair
My young heart danced at her parting words that hung in the evening air
She was on the Strand next morning when orders came to sail
And as we slipped our ropes away I watched her from the rail
She threw me a rose, which fell between us, and floated on the Bay
And as our shippulled from the shore, I heard her call and say
Now the soldier's life won't suit me, sweet music is my trade
For I'd rather melt the hardest heart than pierce it with a blade
Let the time be short till I return to my home in the mountains high
And the loving girl who stole my heart with these words as I passed by Видеоклипы
The combination of Andy's voice with Phil's keyboards just grabs me with their incredible music chemistry. I remember seeing them in the 80's in Western Canadian Folk music festivals ; they often closed out the evening's show as they were often the best act. Silly Wizard was such a fantastic unique band, and great crowd engaging by Andy - Ah, those were the days!!!
My cousin Andy was and is a legend. Sadly missed. X
Wish i could have heard them live. RIP
I heard them live once - I didn't know whether to call it a comedy show or a concert! Their music is awesome, and their banter between songs was hilarious! These guys were so damn awesome! Great musicians and quick wits!
I first heard this song on a cassette tape I purchased at a Renaissance faire in PA when I was about 15, recorded by a band called double indemnity. I've long since discovered Silly Wizard and sing Golden, Golden to my Three year old when I brush her golden hair. 25 after that Ren faire, it's good to hear this lovely song again.
Silly Wizards are the best band they are also a comedian and a musician I wished they still make songs.

@@CarolineTheFiddleryep, she had an good voice, but have you ever been to an Silly Wizard concert? I had the chance in the 1970ies for 5 times and all those 5 concerts were among the top 5 of all the concerts I've ever visited (app 250-270) I have some blackouts during the 1970ies😉😉😉
These lyrics are simply exquisite. Thanks so much for this upload, it was very meaningful to me.
Heard this beautiful song for the first time last night at Quarter Acoustic Music Club, near Hamilton, Scotland. It just struck a chord with me - the band did a better than fair rendition and really did it justice. I see a (very) young Phil Cunningham, who wrote the song with Andy M Stewart. Phil is a leading member of the Celtic Connections, Transatlantic Session house band, and I go to this gig every year. He just gets better and better. I hope to learn this song and add it to my repertoir, sometime very soon - my project for the summer!!
I was just talking with you on Saturday about this performance, Bill! John and I were there ~ Great memento!
Wow, this is priceless, do you have more footage? We do a lot of Silly Wizard songs and tunes, especially some of Phil Cunningham's. Wonderful historical stuff, now if we good just get some old footage of Fenig's Allstars...
Brilliant entertainment and more.
Superb; pity they didnt keep it all going!
I must google that, didn't know they didn't get along
@@maryhahn7370 that's not true. They kept it going for 19 years! They were all pretty much in their teens.
Спасибо, очень красиво и ценно
