Your channel is what RUclips is about.
Fun. Interesting. Educational. Pure enjoyment.
You're one of the best when it comes to movie filming locations videos.
Love this flick. Have a weird history with it as well. I was in the Navy and stationed in Long Beach California when it came out and took a bus from the base over the Vincent Thomas Bridge to get to the movie theater in town to watch it. Years later, that's the same bridge the director, Tony Scott jumped from.
Always loved this movie. Thank you for putting in the effort, really.
Another Epic 80s 4 Life 🎬
Kurt, every time you drop a video I drift into heaven. Nostalgia heaven. Please don't ever stop!
My favorite part is when the mob walks into the house and Brad Pitt is smoking weed with a honey bear bottle..lol
Excellent part of movie
Great video thanks for sharing 👍👍
One of my favorites from the 90s, a very underrated and not well known movie with a TON of great actors. Thank you for putting the work in on this one! Every time I hear Outshined i think of the mob/Floyd scene in this movie.
80’s life and Scott on tape, are the best channels for filming locations on RUclips 👍.
Grimmlife is pretty damn good as well!
Scott on tape has interesting content but I can't make it through his videos. He's too into himself for my taste.
Scott on tape, he makes me laugh my ass off
Dont forget adamthewoo
I forgot about grimmlife,Adam the woo, and leisle Love
We can see alot work was put into the video. Thanks for the huge effort! Keep grinding that soon enough you will be at your goal.
Your choice of movies is phenomenal. Really enjoyed it . Going to re-watch True romance again now !
I was reading an article about Nu-Metal and the most influential bands of the genre, closed the tab and this video popped up. Talk about a perfect storm of 90s nostalgia! Another home run!
Easily in my top 10 of all time favorite movies and one of the greatest films ever made. 👌 "I like you Clarence, always have 👉... always will." 😎
Kurt this film is my just one of my favs from the 90s, I think I asked if you could do the filming locations for this film a while back. Absolutely fantastic mate. You match up every shot perfectly. I don't know what else to say but..amazing. looking forward to the next one 👍
Thanks doing this one. One of my favorites from when I was in high school. The talk between Dennis hopper and Walken is epic!
Wish i was in high school, then
Thank you for the great video and stroll down memory lane. I was fortunate to be living/ running around Hollywood during the late 80’s thru 2000’s. In many ways was a golden age to be there but during those early 90’s was a slew of solid films. True Romance one of my favorites. Just 92-94 you had Reservoir Dogs, Tombstone, True Romance, Clerks, Pulp Fiction, Natural Born Killers. Not to mention other great independent and blockbusters. Thank you again. Swingers would be a good one although it hits some of the clubs you’ve visited before. 🙏🏻 well done
Thank you so much! I'm sure I'll get to most of the movies you mentioned
I remember my parents taking me to political ballroom parties at the Ambassador hotel in the 1970s. That place was spectacular... really sad to see it gone. I remember eating at Lucy's burger just because I had always driven by it on the way to ride the 10 fwy. Glad to have had that chance.
Super cool! I was following around on maps again! True Romance had a slew of really good performances which made it such a winner! For me, Bronson Pinchot as Elliot was the best performance in the movie! He and Gary Oldman have to be the most well rounded actors in the world. There is no role they can't take on!
Dude. You are killing it. Just awesome
Another awesome job ..... TR is arguably the most underrated movie of the 90s the acting and specially the dialogue is why he's the best!!!
Yes!!! This movie had such a perfect cast and script. As well as filming locations. Thank you!!!!
Love that movie, I agree it is one of the greatest movies of the 90's✌️💖💋
Vista Theater! Owned by Quentin Tarantino and used on the cover of Lights...camera...revolution! By Suicidal Tendencies in 1990! I'm sure you're aware though lol
Great video kurt!
I was going through movie locations then and now from other RUclipsrs and found yours here . I really enjoyed this very much! I appreciate all the time you took into making this video and I subscribed . This was a treat and I wanted to Thank you . True Romance is a favorite of mine
I was actually there when they filmed parts of True Romance. I was staying in the hotel across the street (where Coast Anabelle hotel is) for a couple days. When we returned to the hotel one late afternoon / early evening, we saw the side streets lined with trucks and equipment. When we walked around the front found out they were filming a movie, later found out to be True Romance. We were able to see them filming some of the scenes where the Caddy was under the carport. Because I have never seen the movie, I don't know if the scenes I saw them filming made the final cut or not. What I remember seeing was several takes where the Caddy was sitting under the carport, and staff would start to bounce the Caddy vigorously to make it appear like it came to a rapid stop in the film. Was cool to see and watch..
I remember staying a week at the Safari Motor Inn in Burbank California back in 1994. It was actually a decent motel, down across the street from NBC studios where The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson / Jay Leno use to be filmed.
It's looks decent. Probably overpriced these days
I’m 3 minutes in and I’m loving every bit of this. So awesome you had the Steve Caballero deck in hand!
I love this, and the fact you found the billboard location and window is just amazing! I no idea they shot the Pasadena scenes in that former hotel. I was just in Pasadena scouting the Halloween spots and father of the bride house.
I love this movie and I definitely need to revisit it and I really thought there were more Detroit spots like the theater but I was wrong and all these years I thought that and I wish I was able to visit sights like this in Detroit as it's my home town but I'm handicap and these days I can't do much. This was awesome and I really enjoy videos like this.
I like the BTTF Oct. 26, 1985 at the very beginning!🤘
Great work! Somewhere in the internet there is fanedit of "True romance". Someone cut this movie just like Tarantino wrote it (non linear narration, alternative ending). I highly recommend it.
This was a great episode as always, thank you
I literally just watched this movie for the first time as a result of watching this video, thank you!!
Great video, did you actually go to Magic Mountain to film the location just for this video or did you film footage for multiple videos such as Encino Man, National Lampoons Vacation? How long does it take you to make a video like this for you? Just curious. You are doing a great job! Keep it up.
Damn, you really committed to this post! Was it the most you've ever traveled for a filming location video?
I'm from Detroit, and go to LA all the time. I recognize all of the Detroit locations - I never knew! Great job, you're the best 80's channel on RUclips. If you ever need any Detroit video shot, I'd be glad to do it, then you can talk over it. Let me know if you want my contact info.
I bet so many of us here would love to hang with you and chat and ask soooo many questions. He's to you and all your hard work m'man!
If you search "Krotona Apartments" and "True Romance," you'll come across an old L.A. Times article which states that's where the Floyd apartment was filmed. That's also where the Tarantino couch story comes from. The guy who owns the car has also stated he has the original call sheets, which confirm that's where the apartment scene was shot. Maybe he'd provide it to you upon request. He shared other call sheets in the past, which identified locations like the opening bar and Drexl's interior.
Hey, thank you so much for the heads up. I appreciate it.
Stoked on this episode! Keep up the good work!
I just watched the movie last night after so many years. Great job my friend
Thanks for this! Easily one of my favourite films of all time!
Nice work.
Perfect timing, I was just watching some old episodes of " Medium" with Patricia! I love her👍💕
Pretty awesome that the Vista is featured prominently in this film and now Quentin owns the theater and it will be open once again.
wow..movie magic..they did a great job of making all the scenes in the beginning of the movie look like detroit.imo 1 of the greatest movie scenes of all time is in this movie...walken and hopper...amazing!! Good job crucial!! \m/
Thank you for all of the hard work that went into this. I love the music that I heard in the part about the Safari Inn.
It's my pleasure. Thank you!
that scene with dennis hopper and chris walken is the best part
Love your works!!!!
awesome video m8 , my favorite parts are when Clarence speaks to Elvis
A very personal insight from you Kurt regarding not riding the Viper, don't worry I'm like that now too, I believe you call it 'hurling' :-)
Great video as always.
Excellent video and movie, i watched this movie about 12 times
man that would have been classic if u were driving around in that car showing locations
Very enjoyable. Love from Scotland 🏴
Thank you so much!!
Great work!
Hey you were in Los Feliz! That's my neighborhood!
Yes love it!!
Awesome
Lucy's Drive Through (where CVS now stands) was only a restaurant. The Lucy's next door is mainly a bakery
Great videos bro
Awesomeness 👌 👏
I really enjoy your Six Flags Magic Mountain scenes in this video do you have any more Six Flags Magic Mountain videos you should do more Six Flags Magic Mountain videos I really enjoy it 📲👍😇
Best romantic movie.
So glad they didn't ruin it with the alternate ending of Alabama abandoning him. That would have made me not like the movie.
Good stuff
One of my favorite films of all time.
Great video as always, I had no idea that most of the Detroit locations were filmed in LA.
Crazy, right? Thank you
Like your graphic of you with the skaetboard :)
I’m ashamed to admit I’ve never seen True Romance. Definitely going to after watching this.
Not even greatest of the 90s, True Romance is one of the greatest movies ever made. Along with The Lost Boys, True Romance is in my top 5, all time favorite movies ever.
Did ever notice in most QT movies that at some time there is a conversation about "cleaning products"
Craziest thing, last night i watched the movie, Bad Influence and saw Rob Lowe holding up a hamburger stand, he puts gun in workees mouth, and i knew i seen that actor before, but couldnt figure where. YOU SHOWED HIM IN THE (CVS) HAMBURGER STAND. WOW. Thank You i didnt have to investigate where i seen him. What a coincidence. Watched this video within 5 hours of watching Bad Influence
Supercool was the Onyx cafe (at 4471). Owned by Fumiko Robinson and John Leech, and closed in 1986 (landlord dispute). Relocated to Vermont Avenue in Silverlake (survived until 2000).
Leech passed away in 2009.
Pretty sure The Vista Theatre was used in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as well. Seems about right.
Using a "long" lens compresses things in background , making them appear closer , is my two cents. The Caddy is being filmed at a distance so a long so-to-speak lens system is needed.
What do you think about Prayer of the Rollerboys its a classic would love to see some locations of that movie
Hey Kurt, Could you do Hardbodies from 1984.
I think you should really do famous L.A. food Spots!!!! And I think it would be funny if u try some food too!!!!! Lol 😆 🤣
Tango and cash next sir 😁🤗
'A night at the roxbury' 😂😂😂 do next
Great Friggin movie. I’ve alwYs felt it was slightly “lifted” from Taxi Driver, as far as the anti hero rescuing the prostitute from the white pimp , ending (kind of) with an epic shootout at the pimps crib. But hey, they did it well in both films.
That is a great point. Maybe Tarantino or Scott did this as tribute? Tarantino was pretty young when he wrote this
3:28 “I remember buying an ‘Anti-Nowhere League’ shirt from this shop.”
So what? 😜
Vista Theater from Lights Camera Revolution - Suicidal Tendencies 🤘
Could you please do a video on Johnny Be Good (1988) starring AMH (Anthony Michael Hall) and RDJ (Robert Downey Jr.)?
Or do you only do California?
Hit hit nail right on its head to do this video..😎🤘🤘🤘🤘😎
Ok.....do you know what the name of the burger stand was...when he dropped Alabama off at the Safari Inn.....
You would've made a great detective!
You should of did some more Detroit location like the Detroit waterfront area where his dad was killed in the movie
If you didn't already know, Quentin Tarantino owns the Vista Theater now.
No mention of where they filmed Gary Oldman's, AKA Drexel's scenes? It must not have been White Boy day.
Oldman should of won an Oscar for his performance
Walkin did a great part
Interesting thing was that Tarantino who wrote the film, did not like how it turned out.
90's Life
I wonder if that's the same car from the Clint Eastwood movie Pink Cadillac?
You don't mention that there is a poster in the theater lobby area of death proof which is a Tarantino movie just like true romance seems like a lost opportunity
What a shame they tore down The Ambassador hotel
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas has seen in Los Angeles???
A few near the beginning.
There’s one with lunch at a hotel restaurant, one inside a tiki bar, a driving scene, the car rental scene and a scene where they go to the beach at night.
Is that Balki?
No way. Clarence is Quentin, not Floyd. They changed the place of work from a video store to a comic book store
Rewatch
It is very cool that you like anti nowhere league!!!
You are very cool crucial Curtis!!! So what so what!!!
