@@questionmarky986giraffes are the longest/largest land animal. Iirc, the longest animal overall is a siphonophore, and even that’s debatable because they’re colony organisms
These used to creep me out but seeing them this close really drives home that he's just a derpy squid with party streamers for arms. Great footage tho!
This kind of comment makes my day! The purpose of the channel is to show that the magnapinna is a really cool animal, and although they can look creepy, they're actually just really neat squids :)
@@MagnapinnaArchive Now I think they're super cool and actually kinda cute lol. For years my only frame of reference for these guys was that bigfoot-esque oil rig video that just made it look scary as hell, but I think channels like yours definitely help people see how they really are so thank you for posting so much footage!
WHAT a cool and sweet guy. im delighted that we see more and more of magnapinnas in their bright colours. hes so vibrant and friendly! i love his translucent hat. so much going on inside there.
I find it very amusing that one of the Marine biologists operating the ROV or watching the feed from it is saying things like “It’s like a little squiddy looking thing.”
@@dragonsember I believe most if not all observed species have been determined to be juveniles, and we have not seen a fully grown adult Magnapinna squid yet
Yessss! New Magnapinna footage just dropped 😂 Could see a lot of detail on this one! Very smooth and high detailed camera. Wished they'd just watch him for an hour lol
Wow! And I was watching that dive live last night, but I went to bed before the magnapinna appeared. Probably just as welll... I'm not sure I could have survived the excitement. 😉
Beautiful little friend. I love these deep sea creatures. Theyre so interesting and its really impressive how life finds a way to survive, even at depths like this.
I have a love-hate relationship with the ocean. I’m entranced by its incredible beauty and the nature-defying creatures that reside within it, but I am completely, painfully aware that it’ll kill me, and I’ll likely never be found if it gets the chance.
I know that I should not be questioning your methods, but how do you obtain videos and images of these magnificent creatures? And most importantly, where do they learn English?
Magnapinna squids are so enchanting and beautiful, I love how the float around aimlessly and the way that their tentacles drift through the abyss. They are truly amazing creatures, I’m captivated by their uniqueness. Also love how this one in particular is reddish orange 🥰 such an adorable little baby
Imagine him probably haven’t seen light in who knows how long or if ever and all of a sudden… can you turn on the flash for me…😂😂😂 must be surreal for both parts these encounters with this stunning creature
i don't think its on there, but it's like one of the more popular ones then again it's hard to tell since the thumbnails can be kinda hard to read sometimes
i am also just surprised by how much footage there is of this animal compared to something like the humpback anglerfish (which is like, the most well known deep sea animal)
I'm so happy to see more of these dee sea beauties Scary to me but I like that a lot, it's so interesting to know what freaks you out in weird indescribable ways. But he do be chilling
SO COOL.. i love these videos sm, just a lil (big? hard to tell lol) guy hehe do we know if is there a reason this one's head is more orange than most others weve seen? is it diet or just lighting or difference in genetics or smthn ??
As hard as the last few years have been, at least we’ve been able to see and learn more about these incredible animals. I’ve grown to love them so much
yeah, that would've been a better name. but that's not its name because, for a very long time, only juvenile ones were known, and they have short arms and tentacles, and fins that are, proportionally to the rest of their body, even larger than those of adults. so the group was only described and named based on younger, less noodly individuals. the first official visual record of a magnapinna squid only happened in 1988
acabo de descubrir que existe el magnapinna y tambien que existe un fandom de estas bellas y misteriosas criaturas, vengo de un pais sin acceso al mar pero me fascina nuestro mundo, saludos desde Bolivia!!
I always kind of figured their arms were fairly rigid above the elbow, and then below the "elbow" the tentacles would be mostly non-movable - i thought that they just trailed, kind of like a jellyfish, picking up food. At 1:46 it shows that's clearly not the case, as the squid was able to scrunch them all up (seemingly) without moving its mantle. Also, it looks like there are 8 arms (6 around the edges, 2 hanging down from the middle). Any tentacles, though? or maybe the 2 in the middle are tentacles, but then where are the remaining 2 arms? is it possible this thing only has 8 total limbs, and maybe isn't a "squid" at all (like vampyroteuthis)? super cool and beautiful animal!
Imagine chilling in the deep blue then you get witness a clunky robot looking thing watching you. Now imagine that if you're human and you're chilling the deep blue and witness a weird tentacle thing watch you. Pretty cool huh?

My teacher was wrong about the giraffe being the longest when the magnapinna squid is the longest

Nice. Cute cephalopod. It looks so tiny, I wish we could get a reference object to gauge the creatures actual size.
I can almost certainly assure you it is NOT tiny. From what we know about Bigfin squids, they are estimated to grow to lengths of at least 23 feet.
Also, is this one fully grown?
@@dragonsember I’m not a scientist, I don’t know. Sorry
@@dragonsember I believe most if not all observed species have been determined to be juveniles, and we have not seen a fully grown adult Magnapinna squid yet
@@ratbastian that's crazy i heard that about colossal squids but not these guys. I wanna see us get footage of a fully grown one in my lifetime.
This is a monumental moment for the Magnapinna Community.
Also the squid itself looks actually pretty cute here.
These things have been my favourite animal for an embarrassingly long time now, always lovely seeing other appreciators of this wonderful creature!
Nice to see I'm not the only Magnapinna enjoyer who's also a Fire Emblem Fates fan on this channel
Babe, Wake up, New Magnapinna just dropped!!!
Everytime when a new video is uploaded here I watch the whole thing RELIGIOUSLY
Looks so otherworldly. It's too bad ancient cultures didin't know about these things, the myths would've been amazing.
Really interesting thought:D

one of the most fascinating, beautiful sea creatures, and so full of personality. amazing footage, thanks for uploading!
Excellent footage! Love to see these mysterious things up close!
incredible how much control they have over those long ass extensions!! and so crazy that you could see all the way through the mantle !!
After the very Love Craftian first image of its apperance, it has now turned to a long smol adorable boi. very wholesome.
subscribed and awaiting the 25th ever magnapinna video with bated breath. These are my new favorite weird little guys

I love hearing the recordings of the people operating the ROV. It's so cool to hear passionate people excited about their discoveries in real time.
They're such a nice color
This calls for my mandatory insane ramblings about bigfin squids to my friends

This is such a cool sighting!

I love your videos, keep up the good work .
Is it just me or are the red Magnapinna specimens always much smaller looking and more mobile than the white ones?
I think the orange/reddish ones are juveniles!
what a beautiful and vibrantly colored little buddy. :)
YESSS LETS GOOOOO!!!!!!! WAHOOOO

For some reason, there's two pairs of legs that are held together at the top, making it look like it has 8 total limbs
2:52 grip it and rip it baby
2:58 always throws me while the close ups make it look so THERE
You should do a compilation. To get more views. Of all the footage to dat togheter
Ya'll don't mind if I dangle my noodles, right?
how big are they compared to a person?
I wonder why it is red and not white like we usually see these squidys
Squid have elbows

is it small? it looks small
I wonder if the babies are orange and lose their pigment when they get older. Hmmm...
Ah yes, horrors beyond my comprehension
Is it just me or does this one look smaller than usual? Is it perhaps a baby?
SUBHAN ALLAH! GOD IS THE BEST OF CREATORS
Disgusting. I love it.
looks horrible, like a big insect or something
