Way less terrifying when everything isn’t green 😂
🤣🤣🤣
When theyre in motion they dont look near as spooky as a still image. Plus yeah, not being green helps
and not teleporting from side to side
@@shoom8115 They teleport now?! The devs keep making this game harder!
Nah that's definitely still horrifying. The ocean is so full of nope.
"Detecting multiple leviathan class lifeforms in the region. Are you certain whatever you're doing is worth it?"
The area sure does look a lot like Dunes, doesn't it? I said that to myself as the camera panned down towards the sandy floor.
lol, i just finished that game last week 😂
Amazing game lol

I love hearing biologists getting so excited when they spot a cool animal!
It's because we haven't had any HQ footage of them for so long. It's amazing to see them.
@@erikwahlstrom4093 My father is a scientist and he want to kill that creature and test it on his lab 💀
Because they're nowhere near them but can see them up close
remember me and ash on the screen getting excited discovering a new pokemon when little xD
@@erikwahlstrom4093 for that they are suprisingly calm for me lmao
Whats more impressive is how much camera quality has increased since the last filming of alien squid.
Scientific quality compared to 144p horror footage
@@rofllmaozedong lul true
it could be bc the camera that caught that iconic green video was just a security cam for an offshore oil rig. these cameras are actually hunting for animals
finally a recording that actually looks not blury
It's obviously not an alien
Hearing marine biologists say “I’ve seen this before” shows how rare they are.
There are 5 different species so yeah but still beautiful!
@@jemadamson2715 just cuz there is various kinds does not mean they are common necessarily
@@stabbityjoe7588 ah my bad. Thats what i thought he was implying when he said that in the vid
Wouldnt it be the opposite.
@@ragtag369_ watch their other videos.
When they encounter something it’s pretty common for them to simply say it’s name and move on.
The idea of them saying “I’ve seen this before” like amused children shows the wonder of it.

Jotaros probably the owner.

Seeing it actively swim actually made it feel less alien to me, previous footage made me think they mostly drifted and THAT freaked me out
But everything is less freaky from afar
Because your perception of it is small
@@yoshimitsu8643 nah. I don't think that as small, that thing is quite huge. but it's still not that creepy tbf
Lmao just drifting, the imagery is quite spooky
@@zero_s and there’s only footage of younger magnapinnas.
No one has ever encountered a footage of a full grown adult one.
@@yoshimitsu8643 not true, they've definitely seen adult ones.
I like how this guy called in like a radio show and dropped facts.
one of the guys that first described magnapinna to science, no less!
“Eyyo it’s Joe from south boston, long time first time. What do you’ll think bout tradin that bum brady for a magnapinna like this, guy seems like he could really get separation deep and suck in balls. I’ll hang up and listen.”
scientists looking at a creature in a movie: Bombards you with scientific and unbelievable facts.
real scientist : WOW!!! incredible!! look at that!!!
🤪
@JS lmao
@JS ???????? she sounds stoked to see him
I mean why wouldn't they? You don't become a biologist because you're _not_ interested in nature!
Movie scientists need to up their game, I say.
“🤪”
almost as if movies and reality are beyond incomparable and real life is nothing like movies...
You can hear them turn from excitement to terror to cautious intrigue 😂
“Ooooh a SQUID!”
“Oh gosh…”
“Look how cool”
Looking into the abyss and not knowing what's in it is a lot more scary than knowing what something is and seeing it
who wouldn't react like that lol
It drifted so near, yet you almost missed it.
Imaine all the deep-sea wonders that we've missed simply because they swam behind the ROV
it needs a 360 cam!!!
Imagine one of them is always behind the ROV. I wonder what it's up to back there.
@Felicia he even looks at the camera and does a shhh motion with his tentacle like a looney toon
Bro im tripping balls after reading this
for anyone wondering what the person i was replying to said it was something along the lines of "The kraken swims behind the ROV once a year for comedic effect", not sure why they deleted it
I love watching scientists learn more and more about this particular squid species. I remember back when the only thing we had about them was that creepy ass green pic
I actually just uploaded the green video a few days ago! I managed to get the original footage from VHS so it's the highest quality ever uploaded to RUclips. Check out the channel to see it!

There is no words do describe how impressed I am with camera quality
It's insane. From like 2:32, it's so clear it almost looks fake.
@@theapplekingdom5493 But how? As far as I can tell it's 2km deep? Do they have huge floodlights on that thing?
@@ZesPak I would assume so. As long as the water clarity is good, a decent light source would be just as effective there as it would be on a new moon up here.
These guys do scare me quite a lot, but over the years, watching all these different videos of them pop up, I've come to appreciate them much more. I was very happy to see such a recent sighting pop up in my recommendations.

same!
Are their tentacles long like that to catch food easier?
@@Toasterloaf we dont know a whole lot about these squids, but most likely
They seem way smaller and passive compared to how that one famous image of them made it out to be.
It turned red before it swam away. I never realized they could change color. I know they're squids and all, but it never occurred to me for some reason.
almost like it was embarrassed about being recorded 😂
2:50 wow you’re right
it was most likely just a change in lighting and angle.
@@audrey2658 Naw, dawg. _Chromatophores._
@@fuzzyzombielovealot of deep sea creatures are actually red in color since red light waves can’t reach the bottom of the ocean. They use it as camouflage
2:56 The way it just disappears into the abyss, So eerily cool!
I love how not scared they are. Just, "Ooh, a squid! Follow it"
Yeah it’s an unmanned rover
Their voices were getting a little shaky but their fascination overrode any fear they might've felt tenfold.
@@VinVonVoom Why do you think that? They weren't in any danger, they are not in the sea lmao.
@@noallpro Nobody who watched any videos of it were in danger but that doesn't stop all the people being creeped out by it as many have.
Nothing is scary about this
Really great footage, such an unusual species of squid. It's kind of cute though in this footage. I think i'm a little sad the lighting was so good. I liked this squid as a giant underwater alien-monster from another world. Now it's just a cute goofy squid.
He do a sweem blub blub
We have very different definitions of cute
I think the way it swims freaks me out more. I'm glad they aren't mindless bottom feeders, and are in fact nimble and perceptive. Makes them more alien to me.
The way it just suddenly ghosts off into the darkness is so cool!

The way it fades back into the black void of the ocean brings me chills. But in such a humbling way that we really can nit comprehend just how big and mysterious our oceans are 😨
Amazing! I've never seen a squid that looks like this one. Very ghostly in appearance...thank you for sharing!!
Bigfins are weird af, but they're so cool

Magnapinna prolly evolves to MagnaPenis
This is the highest quality of footage I’ve seen of one! I’m highly impressed
Love how the bastard sits there like “tf r u”
It's interesting that not only for this brief moment we get to see more of how this animal moves, but I noticed how instead of just letting it's appendages dangle in the water, you'll notice it's "Stalks" at their body's base are move the tendrils almost like puppet strings, showing it actually manipulates it's appendages likely for motion purposes but also to adjust the height of their hanging. Very cool animal!
That's insane
We've only ever seen juveniles

The fact it doesn’t look like VHS horror anymore helps 💀
Look at that sweet baby! What a darling, swimming by to go about its day. Loved when the person who disovered the family called in all excited.
magnificent and scary at the same time.. nice footage! :)
At least this magnapinna isnt tposing menacingly in the dark
This is completely amazing, we have colored footage of this alien. Its pretty scary to see it come into view so easily as it disappears.
I've seen a bigfin hold their tentacles down but I've never seen one twirl and twist them! Very amazing and beautiful!
The way it spirals away into the abyss is beautiful.
the idea of the ocean and how immense it must be is incomprehensible, imagine what's there hidden away
Another planet on ours.
If the both of us shared the same 20ft radius for half a second, I'd most likely die by association
That camera work was freaking mint... that shot of it swimming away was breathtaking.
There are no words to describe how terrified I am of these
May I ask why?
Yeah, it was the first underwater creature I ever saw, that creeped me out just as much as it fascinated me, lol.
They should've called it "Nightmare Squid" or "Torn Alien Umbrella" or something. Bigfin Squid just doesn't do it justice.
Therapy.👍🏾

Seeing Magnapinna swim is such a crazy thing. I never knew they could move so fast!
New squid just dropped?
Ah hell nah that’s a whole ass warper from subnautica
When they zoomed in I was both terrified and yet even more curious than previous. The closer you look, the more you realize that's a wild critter.
its so floaty
Getting to see them in motion actually makes them look quite beautiful, especially the motions of the fins along the mantle.
I bet just this one high quality video of them already made a bunch of breakthroughs in the study of the magnapinna
Unfortunately, there is very little studies about the magnapinna currently. The aim of this channel is to collate all the footage in one place, and eventually start a blog describing all sightings chronologically and geographically, to hopefully aid future research of this great animal.
You know when you were first playing Subnautica, and exploring and you saw a warper in the distance for the first time and went "wtf is that". Yeah this is that in real life. Fuck going to Mars. Were pretty sure there's nothing quite as cool on Mars as in our deep oceans actually.
"Oooh, yes, a squid!" I love how cheery he sounds
This video, this quality, pure gold. Thank you, 2 minutes well spent
This is INCREDIBLE ❤ love this magnapinna.
This is so beautiful the way it’s tentacles are so thin and move like seaweed like it’s just the sea carrying it so amazing
The camera quality is absolutely incredible! So lucky to see one of these!
Congrats on the sighting! I've never even heard of this squid before, but its so eerie and beautiful

When we first saw this thing, it looks creepy, but now, its a silly squid with a very long tentacles and massive fins, pretty cool ngl
Oh man, it's CRAZY how clear the footage is!!
They are much less scary in HD. actually beautiful.
After all they are just f i s h
That is a beautiful long arm squid, fun fact: there the only squid that has elbows
this is so beautiful thank you
So exciting to see in such detail
2:02 That's so true, i know this species for not so long but it was the one who gave me the most creeps since the beginning. It's the most alien like creature we have in the ozean in my opinion. :D
To me he/she looks adorable.
It's amazing how well you can show a zoom-in when you start out fully zoomed in
Rarely do I just sit watching a video in complete, slack jawed awe but *wow* that was beautiful and it got me *good.*
This is actually amazing, considering how rare these squids are
I mean, the most of their "scareness" came from that absolutely cursed footage with low-quality camera where the magnapinna just stays still in a complete darkness. (And many people also put spooky music over it 🤣) They're gorgeous, c'mon
Yeah when it flashed it's mantle at 2:09 it looked so pretty.
incredible footage
the camera quality of these small submarines and probes millions of kilometres away is 10x better than most CCTV footage in stores
this is such a beautiful video, i can really appreciate the beauty compared to the video that almost everyone’s seen
These are both really creepy and really cool. Lol. What a great catch!
holy smokes, that’s the best footage I’ve seen of that kind of squid.
This footage is beautiful! Wow! One of my favorite animals, so cool
I remember when everyone was so scared when this was first discovered because we didn't know what it was and the tentacles went on seemingly forever (also something I heard but can't say for certain is that all the sightings were of juveniles of these squids so imagine how much bigger they can get.)
I’ve heard that too. Supposedly they’re super rare, and the only samples we have are from young squid. So we may have seen adults but no one knows, because none of those were captured.
Mind u their 15,000ft way below 😅
Woah, aren't those the ones that can become unrealistically long and big?
they arent giant squid if thats what youre thinking, but they are super long. we’ve likely never seen adult so we cant be sure how long they get
They are indeed unrealistically long, those noodle-arms/tentacles are basically as long as a couple school buses; but I dont think they are big at all, their upper body (everything thats not tentacles) is maybe the size of a human at most, ofcourse as ^ said, we dont actually know how big they can grow tho.
Incredible. I love the enthusiasm of these people
What a graceful creature! I've always been so scared of these, and no I would not like to ever be within it's grasp, but I can finally appreciate the animal for it's true nature due to this footage.
This has got to be a juvenile. Most of the big fin squids that have been sighted are juveniles so imagine how big the adults get. They gotta be bigger than this. I’m not looking forward to an adult one being sighted 😬
Wasn’t the one at the oil rig an adult, it’s legs went down into the dark bottomless ocean and further
I look very much forward to it
@@lucasmorgan3167 surprisingly, that was actually a juvenile
@@Extraflames1 holy fuuuuuu- have any washed up on land that you know of or are they too deep down?
@@lucasmorgan3167 im pretty sure they're too deep down, but I'm pretty sure that in Mexico, very rarely, another juvenile will come up to the surface for a short while, but this has only happened once or twice
I'm a stone Mason and a stone fabricator... I would love for you to bring up some of that stone and get it to me and see if it can be called or shape and if it can be polished... And see is it some type of new marble granite or other Spar Pipestone
Just be sure you bring a marine biologist along so you aren't accidentally ruining some deep sea animal's habitat.
wow the quality is just amazing
My god the quality is insane on this I've seen the 480p picture but a video in 1080p up close and so detailed is fucking cool I hate the deep ocean tho it scares me to my core
360° camera. How much are we missing because of camera limitations?
Oddly, this is scarier to me than the old video. I've always been scared of things with long and spindly limbs like mosquitoes and daddy long legs, and here you can see the tentacles easier. Also it seems less like a creepypasta, seeing that it indisputably exists in this world is terrifying.
Absolutely stunning.
Hearing researchers like this get so hyped about what they're seeing is what I live for
