I love the deep sea. Almost everything down there looks like an alien creature from a sci-fi movie.
Surely not from a big bang but from thought
That's because they are aliens to the world we live in. They live at one extremity of Earth's biosphere and we live almost at the other end.
The real question is how much stuff is down there we DON'T know about.

What I find so fascinating is how these seemingly fragile-looking creatures are able to withstand water pressures that would crush us instantly.
Same but from what I read their bodies are mostly water so it’s compressible
well they are not particularly hard or resistant, they just compensate the pressure by adapting the internal pressure
They wouldn’t be able to withstand our habitat either..
Yeah it's fascinating how it works. I suppose it helps that they're not hollow or really filled with gases. I think the issue comes when there is something with it's own internal pressure that ends up surrounded by higher pressure, whereas deep sea animals are always in it, so it doesn't affect them, i.e. if you sank a open barrel and then another barrel that had been welded shut with air in it, the barrel with the open end would maintain it's shape but the one that was welded shut at surface air pressure would eventually be crushed.
It's almost like seeing aliens, seeing creatures that have adapted to conditions and ecosystems so different from those we live in.

I absolutely cannot get over the peacock squid. It looks like something straight out of Subnautica, not something that lives on Earth! The strawberry squid is probably my second favorite. It is the exact texture of a strawberry, and those mismatched eyes are crazy!
to be fair the artist who made subnautica creatures is a really good speculative biologist

The Black Sea Devil Anglerfish is about the scariest thing I have ever seen. I wonder who was the first human to lay eyes on it and are they okay. 😂
thank you for including timestamps and sizes! had no idea those chimaerae were actually quite large... and that crystal amphipod being over a foot long seems pretty big for an almost entirely transparent crustacean!
6 inches is only half a foot, but still that's a big sea bug!

Yes! I already was in heaven just getting to see these creatures.....but then I clicked and accidentally stumbled upon that feature as well. Took it to the next level of awesome. It was especially informative where we see this creature eating that creature and BOTH creatures are identified. ❤❤❤
I always thought that the barreleye was large. It’s kinda shocking to see that they’re only 6in.

Just a lovely, relaxing ten minutes (well, OK, 9:53) observing deep sea life. No overblown commentary or loud, obnoxious soundtrack--just nice music and ID for each species shown. When younger, my dream job would have been working as an oceanographer at MBARI. Almost 40 years later, at pushing 70, I still think that.

What's so incredible is the same thread of life that made them is shared with everything on the Earth, including humans. It's mind blowing.
This is such a great example of proof of the unknown. The fact that these are deep sea creatures and also super high quality shots of them! I can honestly say that this is the first list I've seen with such detailed video of them. Thank you for sharing!
It's CGI, photos of (very) deep sea creatures are rare
It's fascinating to me how I have no sense of scale for these amazing creatures, so little frame of reference. The black sea devil angler fish (1:04) being just 6cm took me completely out!
having had prior knowledge that most anglerfish are much smaller than their fearsome looks may impress, i was more surprised to see two of the anglerfish being over 30cm... that is quite nightmarish imo...
How about the Swarthy snaketooth being only 1 inch.... 6:18
We might think most sea creatures down in the bottom of the ocean would be massive due to deep sea gigantism, (ie. giant isopods) but not likely. Many species are slow growing or small in size due to the availability of food, amount of energy they have to expend, to hunt or escape from predators. Some species of deep sea fish are capable of swallowing prey their own body length, because they might not get that chance again, for a long time.
And the males are tiny compared to females 😂 I wonder how small they are!!

Wow! This is amazing. I used to always look forward to visiting MBARI for work so that I could check out the underwater cameras on their livestream TVs they kept in the lobby. That blackdragon looks like something out of an H.R. Geiger painting. It really is amazing how species diversity is so abundant in the oceans. In contrast, there is only one kind of human left.
Not true at all, human diversity is obvious to those that can see.

Beautiful and terrifying. Two adjectives that always comes to my mind when I think about ocean/sea. Even if I do recreational diving I can't help but feel dread when huge unknown stretches out before me and always knowing that I'm just a visitor in Poseidon's Kingdom.

So many amazingly weird, fantastic and wonderful sea creatures, and excellent videography.
These are all so cool! I had never heard of owlfishes and I really like how big their scales are.
When that squid floated by eating that very same owlfish we had just seen a few minutes before trapped in the squid's tentacles was heartbreaking

Fascinating. This is a part of creation not yet fully explored. Some of its forms are so curious that they awaken our imagination of what could be creatures from another planet.

In clear water its not so bad as in unvisible waters to me . ln the Red sea l could swim from our sailingboat to the shore which anchored 300 feet Off the coast because there were Dolphins around. They made me feel save. There were a lot of sharks in the Red SEA 👍
