Interested in the caged system for guitar but need something to get you soloing faster?? Look no further! In this lesson I’ll be showing you a much quicker alternative to the caged system for guitar solo stuff!
No need to look for the caged system explained, or just a standard caged system guitar lesson in this particular video...
Because we’re going to explore a totally different system that is much simpler and quicker to pick up than the caged system for guitar!
This lesson will show you how to take some tasty licks, and multiply them, to get you playing all over the fretboard without a shred of caged system practice necessary!
I’ll teach you those tasty licks by breaking them down, piece-by-piece, then I’ll show you exactly how to apply this other system to get you soloing all over the neck.
Once we learn how to traverse the fretboard using the licks with this system, we’ll put them to the ultimate test by playing them to a backing track to see and hear for ourselves how well it all works.
You might just forget about wanting the caged system explained for a little bit ;)
📘 AND DON’T FORGET!! Grab your FREE Guitar Cheat Sheet here: www.guitarmasterymethod.com/f...
👆 That Cheat Sheet will take what you just learned and show you how to play it in ANY key! Imagine taking these licks beyond the key we used today and being able to play them in EVERY other key under the sun! That’s what you’ll get when you click that link!
As you’re learning these licks and applying them with this new system that’s a perfect alternative to the caged system for guitar, just remember to take your time and have fun with it!
Maybe even teach it to someone else and pay it forward :)
    Rock On!

Hey everybody! I'm disabled (have cerebral palsy, can't plug in which is a long story in itself) and I just play for myself, but I've been trying these methods since yesterday and I'm already easily picking up on more than I expected to. Don't ever give up!

I'm an old man ,79 in a bit under 3 months. I played guitars for years but always left it then pick it up again and start new. I love finger picking and not crazy about strumming but not many songs I like where strumming is required. Don't worry about being disabled. Just play, strum o to finger pick. I am stuck as I don't know where to go next, so now I am really floundering. My issue is in transitioning, and after 9 months in I still have major pains (plus I gave myself CTS, along with bad arthritis), but I do, at least, know these chords: A/Am/C/D/E/Em/G I can't find a single instructor I am clicking with, and I am not sure where to go next.

@@generalawareness101 keep at it my freind . Look at the neck as sections of 3 frets . Either fingers on the dots or fingers with dot in between. Learn basic pentonic and fool around with basic improv . Your ear will do the rest..hope this helps.

This lesson is caged (because caged is just 'there') but it's wise not to 'think' caged when soloing. Caged is built on octave shapes and visualizing octaves won't scramble your brain as will caged in all it's complexity while soloing. I've been using this for years and use this approach. For soloing this will take you far. For locating triads for rhythm playing and somewhat in soloing I still think caged and it's related barre chords up the neck, each barre chord containing multiple triads. Great lesson. So much to learn.

Hi Eddie, those are awesome licks on A minor; from lower extension to position one, then the high extension. That way you always end your licks on root notes. While your pingky always hit the blue notes. Thank you very much for the inspiring lesson. Cheers from Indonesia.
