I've been playing 23 years. I'm playing cowboy chords and some movable non-barred chords that sound amazing. Enough i gather crowds and they comment how wonderful my music is etc... Last year i began "finding my own chords" - super cool sounds i thought were unique. Ha! Nope. I was just working with my ear rather than your logic (which is in many ways more fun for me)...however, suddenly what i thought were my chords are really your logic. Additionally, my 10 variations of "new chords up the neck" are added to by about 100 you just explained here. That IS super fun to explore - just in a different way than I've typically had fun with musical exploration. I didn't appreciate it before, but now i very much appreciate it! You are an excellent 'explainer' teacher that helps average players take huge next steps. Thank you.
I've tried to learn the CAGED system with very little luck, and have watched several instructional videos, but most of them left me confused. This video is the best I've found so far! Thanks!!
"No one plays it that way." Of all the "CAGED system" videos I've watched, nobody else said that. That's the turning point right there. Seriously. A fully-fretted G, C, or D shape isn't possible, but it's just difficult enough to make you question whether you're doing something right. Thanks for the six words that finally unlocked this for me!
I am so thankful for this guy’s guitar lessons as they help me understand more about the nature of chords on the fret board. You’re a real gifted guitarist Sir and I appreciate it very much . Thanks a lot.
This is the first CAGED video that actually made sense to me. We’ll done! I’m surprised to see how much of it I was already doing without realizing it.

And the way you explain things is the reason for this, bless you and please keep up the good work shops you share. Thank You very much for your patience and sharing your wisdom.
At around the 17:00 mark you revealed something that made me have an epiphany. You said “most people play it like this” and then showed a smaller shape of the C shape, without the pinky, and that helped it click in my head better. Thank you for that!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you.... I've heard the words for 50 years BUT You are the first person to explain it in a way that I can understand. (Even if it's gonna take a LOT of repetition before I can use the information) THANKS AGAIN, PJ

This is the best video I have seen that explains the CAGED system so simply and detailed. It has cleared so many questions. Definitely saved and will be watching again and again! Thank you!!!!
A long time ago my uncle was trying to convey this information to me, but without the understanding of how this works. This is very easy to understand and has opened some new ideas up to me. I am trying to advance in my playing and I feel this is the correct path. Thank you so much, will be checking out more of your videos.
This is the best explanation I've seen. Many people touch on the idea but they don't actually explain in a "for dummies" manner that answers the questions a beginner would have. I remember learning this and stumbling into what you taught and still having questions. This answers them clearly.
Yep, same here. His previous caged video was good but not like this one. I was stuck for weeks trying to understand the caged system because I was fixated on the root notes and patterns and not understanding the very basic and obvious concept of just sliding a chord up the neck and using the index finger to replicate the nut.
I have watched other CAGED videos and it never connected like your video did. Things I was already doing without knowing what or why all make sense now. Thanks!!!
As an olde bass player with a missing left pinky, I started playing 6-string guitar two years ago, and this is the first caged lesson that doesn't start out with that 4 finger reach. Thank you! I learn from you. New sub!
Been through several teachers over the years and this is THE BEST explanation and lesson I’ve ever seen, so easy to understand the way you explain it, thank you Sir
Thank you. I’m going to send this out to some friends. Learning the notes is definitely KEY! 59 years old & I’m gunna get it memorized. No kidding, thank you!
This is awesome. I’ve played blues and rock for a few years but always with just 3 or 4 other instruments in the group. I’m trying to expand my horizons for playing worship and I would watch videos and see all these weird looking chords higher up on the neck and had no idea what they were doing. In this video I spotted several shapes that I’ve been seeing. I can’t wait to get to work on this.
Great explanation, Brian, such a great place for beginners to start expanding. I always like to add that, for a given chord, all the CAGED shapes link from root to root. That's great way to see the entire fret board and locate all the root notes. It's just one more way to integrate fret board knowledge.
Geez I just wanna thank you, I've been trying to understand modes and how to use them. I'm going to have to see this a few more times but I now have a much better understanding.
Grazie per queste lezioni, sto capendo tante di quelle cose che fino a ieri per me erano sconosciute. Grazie... continuerò a seguirti con grande interesse.
I confess i watched Active Melody’s L shape video first, several times too but just couldn’t grasp it.. I then watched this episode and finally grasped it.. A eureka moment for me, now need to put it to use… Great tutorial, thanks Brian..
This is THE best guitar tutorial I've ever watch!! You are an excellent teacher. I've never been explained those chords like you did in this video and whoua! that looks so "simple" now. A big "thank you" to you. (and BTW I didn't even know that I was using a part of the CAGED system)
A wealth of information. I thought I understood the CAGED system before. Now I realize I knew what it was, but didn’t KNOW it (maybe just E and A). This will require some practice. I will do this everyday for a month. Then MAYBE I will KNOW (not just understand) the CAGED system. Mostly working on the C G & D’s.
I learnt this a long time ago .And what I like about it is if I am playing a open C G D tune I alternate up and down the neck in Bar shape on same chords. Makes it more interesting and to my buddies watching they think jeez how many chords is he playing . Lol. I learnt the pentatonic 5 scales and do the same in that I jam in a blues solo in A ( 5th fret ) then slide down to D and fit in a bit of solo .Or start the solo in the D box with the A pentatonic scale in A. Fascinating .Took me a very long time to understand soloing in the Chords. Great explanation.
Awesome teaching. It has always been on the tip of my tongue so to speak... you've helped me get away from trying to get it off my tongue and into my fingers. Cool beans.
I am a student with just an year of learning ( senior citizen though) , this lesson is worth a million. Some parts I knew/ practiced but now the whole lesson is the next target. Thanks a lot. Also please make a video for minor chords( you may say apply your own mind ).

This is brilliant!!! When I think of my finger as the nut, it changes everything! Thank you so much 💗
There are a lot of teachers in the world, but just a view of them are really good.
Mister you are one of them.
Hi Brian, this is the best caged system explanation I've seen so far!!! It was a mystery to me till now. Thank you so much!!!!
I have watched other CAGED videos and it never connected like your video did. Things I was already doing without knowing what or why all make sense now. Thanks!!!
Great teacher. Im not a beginner and you wont be for long if you follow this guy. Practice and enjoy😊
As an olde bass player with a missing left pinky, I started playing 6-string guitar two years ago, and this is the first caged lesson that doesn't start out with that 4 finger reach. Thank you! I learn from you. New sub!
This is the most clear explanation of CAGED I have ever seen. Thanks!
All the other tutors were simply rubbish. The lights came on from the get go after so many years of confusion. Thank you very much.
Thank you! This was the easiest CAGED video to digest. It finally clicked with me
Been through several teachers over the years and this is THE BEST explanation and lesson I’ve ever seen, so easy to understand the way you explain it, thank you Sir
Wow,,, that was with out a doubt the best explanation of the caged system... thanks from the great white north.. Canada.
U made me understand in simple way how caged system worked and applied..thanx u sir😊
This is the BEST CAGED video I have seen ever! How different positions are related to the others is really useful. Thanks
Sometimes we get a teacher that resonates on another level 💯
And you Sir are that Dude !
Thank you so much 🙏🏽
The best lesson on CAGED, and I have already started with my E shape practice... thank you!
This guy is So easy to Learn from he has a great way to explain what he is teaching you I'm Having a hard time with others
Great explanation, Brian, such a great place for beginners to start expanding. I always like to add that, for a given chord, all the CAGED shapes link from root to root. That's great way to see the entire fret board and locate all the root notes. It's just one more way to integrate fret board knowledge.
You explained it in the most easiest way .. this video really helped understanding guitar better .. I am gonna watch all your videos 🔥
Geez I just wanna thank you, I've been trying to understand modes and how to use them. I'm going to have to see this a few more times but I now have a much better understanding.
Got to be the best video out there on the CAGED system. Thank you so much for all your videos! You're an excellent teacher
A eureka moment for me, now need to put it to use…
Great tutorial, thanks Brian..
Mostly working on the C G & D’s.
one of the best explanations for caged I have seen to date, you are a natural teacher like myself :)
Thank you for this video. I watched this a few months ago. I'm learning the notes on the fretboard and now it makes more since.
Bro...Brian! Agreed, all the above!! This some of the absolute best instruction I've ever viewed!
Ahh….finally someone who can explain this in a way I can understand. Thank you brother.
Been playing for a year and this is the best lesson. Very clear!
Amazing video and very simple teaching to help everyone understand the system. I appreciate the time you took to explain this concept.
Thanks, you just turned me loose on all of those partial chords that have been puzzling me. Great instruction.
I agree, I'm 60 and just learning but learned a lot in the last 10 mins. !!
Awesome teaching. It has always been on the tip of my tongue so to speak... you've helped me get away from trying to get it off my tongue and into my fingers. Cool beans.
Best teacher ever
thank you your ability to explain is terrific
I am a student with just an year of learning ( senior citizen though) , this lesson is worth a million. Some parts I knew/ practiced but now the whole lesson is the next target. Thanks a lot.
Also please make a video for minor chords( you may say apply your own mind ).
Thank you! This is so incredibly helpful and so simply explained. Why do so many others have to complicate it? Thanks again.
Thank you so much, first time I understand a little bit of the logic. Great teacher!
you sir, deserve a medal!!!
