The camera alone is an innovation, keeps the letters and dots on the same spot throughout the video. Pair it with the ghost hands and it is pure genius. Music teachers hate this guy!
This is definitely a guy who once thought, "I want an uninterrupted view of the fretboard without the goofy bouncing around and last second zoom ins by my camera buddy who's already drunk."
I was gonna say that. All video guitar lessons should be done this way. Patent and sell this system! Like with sports on TV now you have the strike zone box, the first down line in yellow, etc. It's better than being there! But being there is still important.
You ever feel like you’ve been in the dark for years, and then someone comes along and leads you out of it in just a few minutes? That’s how I feel right now about this teacher.
For about 5 years I 've been walking by the CAGED door afraid to go in. After watching the first 5 min. I stopped and walked in and its nice in here. ☝
This young fella is a truly amazing teacher. I've spent hundreds of £'s on books and lessons but as David K says above the lad makes it so simple, easy and fun to learn. Well done Scott Paul Johnson.
Definitely extremely helpful. I was just going through some other tutorials earlier and it was hard to see where the fingers were on the fretboard. With ghost hands it makes it incredibly easy to see where the fingers are hitting the fretboard. Keep up the good work.
Exactly my thoughts when I just watched it! Brilliant! "Back in my day we had old books from the library!" Lol. Seriously, if I had RUclips back then I would have learned so much faster. I'm.just now piecing it all together after 6 decades lol! Great video! -Old Detroit bluesman
He just has a slightly transparrent image of the fretboard overload on top of the film layer. It's not the fingers that are slightly opaque, it's the second layer of fretboard/strings. You can see the layers seperate when the strings vibrate or when he does a bend of vibratro.
That's what I scrolled down to request-a lesson on how to develop the ghost hands-what an awesome ability I have never seen any other guitarist pull off!
Seriously, I had to rewind part of it because my mind started imagining how hard it must be to keep overlaying the note names and the notes for each position and then color coding it all and next thing you know I've missed a minute and a half of content.
There are so many comments like this and 11 million views says it all, but I felt I needed to comment a massive massive thank you! This is an incredible lesson. Your ability to make something that can be quite difficult to understand so simple is such a gift. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you! For taking the time to create this!
@@libertyconcreteliftingspra933 Maybe English is not his first language? You calm down, you can see by the likes that lots of people agree with this man too.
You have cleared up so many things that I have just been totally lost on. I can't tell you how many books, videos, friends, etc. that couldn't explain it in a way that I could grasp. Thank you so much for making these videos.
Yeah it helps, but scales will help you a little more to unlock that fret board. Start with minor pentatonic learn the 5 shapes and then learn it in major, and then learn the blues scale and the full major and minor scale. You can use your top 2 strings, your E and A as "airports" to play in any key and quickly get into any position. For example you are playing in key of G and you want to start your minor scale, you'd simple go down to your G note on your A strong and start Shape 4 with your root note and continue your shapes.
I saw 11M views and was thinking that's a lot but then I watched it and think it deserves SO much more. I have never seen such a clear and simple explanaition of an otherwise complex topic in my life. You really gave me a new lease of my guitar journey which had stagnated a little
I just had to pause my tour of this lesson at the half-way to say, "this is the best, clearest guitar lesson I have EVER encountered, bar NONE!" I have surveyed one heckuva lot of guitar lessons. I have studied teaching as well (Master's degree in Education). I take off my hat and bow deeply to you, good Sir! Thank you Scott!!!
I was so confused ... up to this point. I spent 3 hours watching this 21 minute video over and over again while practicing and it finally makes sense. I’m deliriously happy !!! ... I can’t thank you enough for posting this.
Mate, I'm not even 5 mins in, but i felt the need to comment. This is hands down one of the best guitar tutorials on youtube ever. The way you break everything down, makes the non sensical become sensical. Fair play.
This is hands down a guitar lesson video. I hands down liked it. It was hands down helpful to me, so I hands down wrote this comment. Please give this comment a hands down thumbs up.
The CAGED system is one of those things every single RUclips guitarist mentions but never goes into any detail other than it's a beginner thing. THANK YOU SO MUCH! It bothers me so much it's easier to learn music theory than it is to learn fretboard layout from people. Just looking at your PDF it all makes sense because you can also see the chord inversions in the layout as well.
best teacher for CAGED system, one stop for scales, aperggio, petatonic, all roots for any keys. it expand your vision of the fretboard, well done Paul. awesome
Dude you are literally killing me. If been playing and performing for more than 40 years and NO ONE has ever made this quite that clear. You’re killing me man. Thank you
@@zootsoot2006 You get it. They are placed the same place on the neck😊 The pentatonic scales are formed aroud these CAGED-shapes. The same goes for the diatonic scale etc. So, you initially use the scales to play your solos in key, and later on you use the CAGED-forms to target the specific chords in the underlying melody when playing your solos. Chord-targeting gives you solos a “better” sound, compared to merely playing in key. Anyway, you use CAGED for chord tone targeting in your solos 😊
4 years ago I watched this video for the first time and didn't understand anything, 3 months ago I watched it again and paid really close attention and it was a total game changer in my playing, words cant express how grateful I am for this video and the knowledge you decided to share for free thank you so much
Isn't it amazing and from a Kid!!! Not that he is a kid, I am an old man, I use my college Photo so my old friends know who they are talking to, Some people need to understand concepts because a shape just doesn't go far enough!!!! We need a deeper understanding to make music!!! This guy is going to change the world of teaching music!!
OK punk, I've got a question for you. Where the hell were you 48 years ago when I picked up my first guitar? 48 years of going nowhere fast, and today you casually show up and everything has changed. I have tears of gratitude in my eyes and I am SO grateful you showed up today, the very day I received my Epiphone Nighthawk Reissue, only the second electric guitar I have ever owned. Everything has just changed. Sincere gratitude to you from me for finally opening the door to a whole new world. You're a great teacher, a cool guy and my new best friend.
He must of had a good teacher(s) and was a fantastic student. Probably has a natural knack too. I like this guy! Watched this video and immediately subscribed, liked and blah blah for the interest of supporting material like his. So young to. Damn punk!
It's possible his sense of humour may be more expansive than yours@@madi8181, but either way your point of view is your problem, not mine, nor Scotts either. Have a great day!
It is your goddang fault. Who told you to be born 48 years too early? Now stop whining and practice 40 to 69 hours a day, everyday for 8 months. You will become a "masta"
Dude I’ve been playing 6 years now…staying a background rhythm player cause I couldn’t ever grasp the idea of soloing or even playing a singular note by itself trying to make it make sense. Within a week of watching this video about 20-30 times a day, playing every minute of the day, (because I got so hooked on this video) I can now solo…by myself comfortably. I blew my mind with what my fingers are doing. He blew my mind with how simple the concept is when broken down correctly and patiently. So I thank this guy, because I lost hope and put all my guitars in their cases and let them collect dust until now. NOW I’m better than I’ve ever been, and it feels great dude. Thank you.
What the fu** just happened.. you just put my good half of my year of learning and trying figure out CAGED system from the books and usage in like 20 minutes videoo,,dude you're genius,, ,.. Your editing and showing all the shapes on the video makes things way easier. omg you're genius man, thank you for your effort putting all this together!
Christ. In my spare time I've been singing and strumming rhythm guitar, finger picking, and even doing the occasional solo from rote memorization, for nearly 30 years. Sat in and did some vocals with the odd band here and there, did some open mics etc... Most people think I know how to "play guitar", but I always felt like a fraud next to lead players. I've never had one of them, any other player, or even several teachers, effectively lay out what the hell they're doing to just whip out an improvised solo. I finally chalked it up to something I'd just never "get". ONE fucking 18 minute video, and 3 decades of banging away finally make sense. I don't know whether to be happy I finally get it, or pissed at how simple it is and how inept everyone else is at explaining it. Both I guess. Well done sir!
I’ve been playing for three years, yes I know it’s not as long as you but I should honestly know this by now since I play really often, my guitar teacher tried showing me but this video literally made my mind click. I feel like I should have paid for this
@@oswaldogarcia5358 yeah, for me, none of this information was new, but it never really coalesced into a usable whole before. Between this and his pentatonic scale video, everything finally came together for me. I knew the scales, knew the chord shapes, knew the neck etc... But it just never gelled together on how they all interact with each other. The way he connected the interrelated bits of theory, with the on-screen graphics, is great. I've had all the physical skills to do pretty much anything I want on the guitar, from flat picking, strumming, to complex finger picking, and could play a thousand songs from Alabama to Led Zeppelin. With the caveat, that I had to know the song, and/or have the TABS. I couldn't just take a random 12 bars blues song and start playing fills along with it. Now I'm no BB or Clapton, but just after a couple days of seeing this video, I can grab any random backing track on youtube and start playing along with it. Something I'd given up on ever being able to do years ago.
I really enjoy your teaching style. A cross between knowledgeable, humble and enthusiastic. That is what sells these videos honestly. Personality combined with knowledge
I am 58 and have jammed by ear since I was 13. I've played alot of what u teach if not all of it but I never knew what the hell I was doing. now I know how to explain atleast what I'm trying to do. God Bless and thank you!!!
@@quantumblurrr i mean think about man, most professionals dont even know simple chords and riffs. Everyone learns in the own way/style, iv seen many videos of kirk hammett struggling to play a simple ass riffs but then bust out a mean ass fucking solo.Everyone is different. Im a skateboarder so i like to think of guitar like SkateBoarding, everyone has there own style/steez and there own tricks/licks. Some people can pickup the really hard riffs quick but then sit there to struggle to play a simple G or C chord. Like in skateboarding some pros can literally bust out a 540 tre-flip down a 20 set of stairs but then not even be able to a simple kickflip. Thats why i love SkateBoarding/surfing/skimboarding and guitar, you have your style, your own flow, your own take on tricks/your own way of doing them. I play a left handed guitar and im left handed, which already makes me different from the crowd.
I cannot believe I just watched this for free. Man, you really have a gift for teaching and the fact that this video is posted free of charge speaks volumes about your passion for it. I will for sure join your Patron! Again, thanks a million for this lesson
OK, as a professional bedroom guitarist that has played to an audience of zero for over 20 years, this is for me how cavemen felt when discovering fire make nom-nom food.
Totally agree. I feel like I was kind of instinctively walking around some of this (I'm a visual person so I remembered shapes) but I'd never connected them all like this. So good.
Scott - I’ve watched hundreds of “learn guitar” videos on RUclips and elsewhere and this was the BEST lesson I’ve ever watched. The way you’ve explained things, the visuals, the progression of complex concepts were extremely well done. I really hope you keep making these. There is a gap in this style of instructional content on RUclips. Well done. I’m gonna go watch it again.
I've seen and read a lot about CAGED, but nothing made the relationship clear like the diagram of the fret board that shows up 15 seconds into this video. I suddenly understood why it's called CAGED, and how all of the shapes relate to each other. The constant camera on the fret board, the note diagrams, and the ghost hand are all brilliant. Excellent lesson. I'm subscribed!
This could be the single best lesson I have ever encountered...I've been trapped in the 1st position pentatonic scale, a prisoner really, for over 20 years...but now I'm CAGED!!! Thank you so much, Scott, what a wonderful lesson. I finally feel like practicing again.
@@telequacker-9529 The first thing a teacher would teach you is caged any guitar shop would I'm sure were have these "guitar" players been hiding 20 years of what lol sitting on your ass
I am playing the guitar for only for 3 months and I already feel like I'm a God at guitar just because of your lessons. Honestly you explain it in a way that everybody understands it... You're the best! Keep up the good work!
Holy shit I feel like I just unlocked the final boss. I made a few backing tracks in different keys and started memorizing the caged system with the different pentatonic scales. I have never felt more alive and like I’ve made it off the plateau of my playing for the last 15 years! This guy deserves all the credit for being the best guitar teacher on RUclips in my opinion as I’ve watched hours and hours of videos and this just unlocks everything.
I've been playing guitar for 10+ years and never bothered to learn this, however this made it entirely simplified. I'm glad i'm up at 3AM watching random videos
Hey Scott ... "just when I thought that i'd learned the CAGED system!" I sat & listened to you explore & explain "things" I'd heard on other sites; they may have the facts, but not the approach you have in teaching ... I enjoy how you present the characteristics of CAGED, that make the light bulb go off inside me; and I'm going after, "oh yeah, now it I see it, now it makes more sense." That's why I've signed onto your Patreon Page ... there's that special "something" you bring to explaining concepts of the music subjects that is satisfyingly clear! At the end of a lesson I know what you were teaching is now in my mental inventory/storage ... Your site is a keeper and thanks for making studying and playing, inspirational and crystal clear! Thanks!
You explain caged in a great way I'm tryi g to absorb I still don't understand when you're moving thru the the different shapes what key you are in Is that determined by the root note???
Just wow. I've been playing for about 2 years and dabbled in CAGED. I've seen 100s of vids on the topic. I can't say I ever really understood it.....Until now. This is the single most amazing explanation of this system. This is the only video anyone needs to watch to understand CAGED and frankly I think a whole lot more. Thank you to the author for the explanation. Great stuff. Earned a sub from me.
This is not just the best CAGED video I've seen, but also just the best guitar theory video too. Guy gets straight to the point, no bs, no "you're going to become a metal Jesus in 2 weeks", and lays everything out like I'm 5
I've been playing over 40 years and didn't even know the system I THOUGHT I came up with when I was 13 for myself was actually a thing...Mind blown. This guy explains so elegantly!
He is so laid back, not stressing out himself or his students. I love his whole presentation. He's worth hundreds of bucks with these lessons but gives them out! I'm sure he does alright. Just sayin he's so cool to just help us beginners ( and even advanced players?, I don't know- haven't reached that far. Am just so thankful for him) with this info.
Brother, hats off to you! Can’t agree more with all the comments saying how amazing this video is. 30+ years of playing, learning, and teaching boiled down to 20 minutes of clear, concise, and amazingly edited content.
This guy is a natural born teacher .. he literally connects the dots ... without a doubt the best .. most easily explained material for the learning guitarist .. when someone gives you a lesson and you run for your guitar ... thanks a million amigo
Echoing everyone else here. That was an amazing and clear explanation of CAGED (and how the guitar is laid out). I’ve been playing for decades and it feels like you’re the first person who’s come along and explained to me what the hell is going on. “Oh, that’s why that pentatonic box/position is in that shape!” I’ve been trying to force my brain and my fingers to remember arbitrary shapes and positions, but now I see the logic behind it all, I can map it out for myself. I’m so happy I could cry! Thank you, Scott.
As many other comments have said, this video is what finally clicked for me!!! I've been playing for 10+ years and have always been confused and scared to improvise. I knew the G shape from day 1 but I can't believe no one ever told me about the other shapes!!!
Where in the heck did this guy come from? I subscribe to Paul David's, Art of Guitar, Guitar Zoom with Steve Stines, YourGuitarSage with eric Andrea's, and some kid from England that wears glasses he got from Sir Elton John... and in this one video he does a better job explaining CAGED system better than any of these youtube heavy weights. First video I've watched but I'm amazed. Fantastic job. Particularly in how deep it goes (which scales fit over which chords) and how concise it is. I can't wait to see more but I had to applaud this one.
I can't even tell you how many videos I've watched on the CAGED system but this video was the one that made sense. I cannot wait to mess with this!! Sub'd.
Very confusing to me. I do think this is the best caged tutorial I’ve seen. I will watch it again and again .Thank you so much. You did a great job brother.
Agreed 100%! Although I still haven't a slightest idea of what it is logically yet! It's still wonderful, and I'll keep watching it till I understand. Bravo!
@@oklahomajefferson4625 This video is right. Might be that the confusion is between shape and key? You can play any of the shapes in any key. But the G shape as shown here is correct. You can tell because each of the scale shapes contains the chord shape.
I started playing when I was 17 back in 1981! OMG! I learned that 'G-shaped' pentatonic. That was my staple for a few years then started looking at the Dorian, Lydian and Phrygian scales etc. I never really understood them well enough to be able to put them to good use. I haven't played in 20 years and have started to look around a bit for inspiration and THIS is the most amazingly productive 20 minutes I have EVER had from any teacher, peer guru our whoever. I have seen the light! Thank you for this brilliant lesson!
I was just looking to learn Pentatonic Scales and found this. My guy just broke my entire understanding of Guitar into a million pieces and then taught me how to put it back together.
I've been playing, self taught as an illiterate musician for almost 53yrs., & I almost hit upon some dynamics by accident, but really didn't know how bring any given concept together. You showed me in (22:11) what I wish someone had shown me the 1st mo. of musical journey. Thanks for making the complicated simple & digestible!!! Break a leg brother!!!
Agreed. I've been playing (in rock bands) for many years. It took me a long time to sort of figure out this system - using different shapes to arrive at the same notes but in different places. But I always felt that I was somehow cheating, and that I should know more about what I was doing. It's positively wonderful to learn that I wasn't off target at all, and thanks to this video I now have some different ideas about how to practice and use the different shapes in different places. Thank you so very much, Scott. Wish I'd met you 40 years ago.
Same with me pal.. but only 30 years for me.. I've played in bands and just bumbled my way though i guess without actually knowing what i was doing.... this is a real eye opener for me. Stay safe.
I’ve been playing for 30 years and this young guy changed my life and I was a decent player. I could learn almost any song with enough practice. Hard songs too. However, learning these concepts changed everything for me. Just amazing.
As with anything, it takes time and effort to learn and understand. Some people don't want to put in the time and effort (study) to achieve understanding. (They're called "slackers".) These people fear what they don't understand. This fear causes them to "lash out" (give it a thumbs down) which is just plain stupid. They miss out on so many things in life and that's their punishment. Which leads to one of my favorite sayings: "Stupidity is it's own punishment."
i'm a really new guitar player (a little bit more than 1 month) and i've started to look into the caged system, i love learning theories and stuff like that so i watch A LOT of videos about it. I can confidently say that for a beginner guitar player this is by FAR the best video i've seen !
This lesson was absolutely brilliant .... so clear and well explained. As someone else commented, probably the best lesson of its' kind on the CAGED system on RUclips ... thanks for your time and effort!!
By far the absolute best guitar lesson video on the internet (for me, and what I need to be able to learn, that is). A guitar buddy sent me a link to this, and after watching for 3 minutes I knew I absolutely need to join your patreon and absorb everything I possibly can from you. Thank you very much, for FINALLY doing a video that makes sense and I can actually understand.
I started playing 1 year ago, and these videos have made a DRASTIC improvement to my playing and understanding of guitar. I feel like circuits just lined together in my brain, and it makes sense now. Thank you so much for your hard work on these
In my guitar playing journey, I was just beginning to feel like I was stuck by lack of understanding of how the fretboard truly works- and I found this video and wow. I get it now. I’m a student with basically no money so having information like this, and a pdf, for FREE, is one of the most amazing things. Thank you truly, SPJ.
This is the first time the CAGED systems makes sense and clicks with everything else. Why did it take so long to find your channel? Thank you man, you are awesome!

I’ve been playing since I was 13. I’m now 40. I can cover a lot of songs, but in 30 lessons (covering pentatonic scales, blues and basic chord progressions for songs I liked) I never learned the this system, the cuticle of fifths, or any other music theory beyond the basics. Everything I’ve done has been by feel and ear since then. This video explained everything I’ve needed to know to break out of the plateau I’ve been on since I was 28. Thank you!
After 10 years of "practicing" guitar and having heard of the caged system THIS video is the first time the instrument has made sense. Expert explanation. No time waisted. No redundancy. Magnificent visuals. 10/10 would recommend to any level of player. Outstanding video. 👏
Those “dislikes” are the people who think that he should be paying them. :) I’m just happy I found him. Love his description and his A/V work. Really great.
I'm a more advanced player that already knows the map, but I still like to watch videos from different content creators just to see what tricks they might have that I don't know. Wow. CAGED is taught so incredibly succinctly here, it's phenomenal. Everything from how clear his instructions are, to the concepts he shares, to the meter of his voice. It's uber focusing & I'm shocked this guy doesn't have more subs.
@@ScottPaulJohnson what took you forever to edit is going to help hundreds of thousands in the future giving them this map. Isn't that crazy to think how many future guitarist you (your caged vid) will be the foundation of their understanding of guitar. I think that is the coolest part of the whole thing here. My generation used boring mixes of scales and patterns to practice until this fundamentals are naturally learned thus taking the long way around. Then if one is inclined, does various theories and styles. Can you imagine how strange it was for composers hundreds of years ago to learn music, and its evolution through various transitional instruments, and then to early popular music on, and now internet age learning has fast tracked what took centuries, and now have 5 yr old Satches coming out. I just found out how charming a teacher could be by mapping out his understanding and knowledge and make you feel you can do the same. It is magical power. If I am going to be a teacher I am going to be one like this one.
My friend, I've played for 50+ years--all by ear, no theory--mostly fingerstyle and, with other, always rhythm, and I'm only now, in my dotage, trying to learn to play melody only. Not melody with an alternating thumb that I use with all my Leo Kottke songs, but actual, stand-alone melody; "lead" guitar, as I've always called it and been frightened of. Now you come along with the very FIRST lucid, clear and comprehensive introduction to the mysteries of the arcane (to me) art of lead guitar. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart! subbed!!

This is ground breaking for me, I have been "playing" guitar for years but never fully grasped the caged system until I seen this video. Your visuals helped it all click now I am jamming better then ever and showing all my friends!
The best online guitar lesson. I've played guitar as a hobby for a long time, but I had hit a wall. All I had done is learn songs. Suddenly the ability to jam is within reach. Thank you so much.
It will! It opens the door to using different chord voicings or chord fragments, and after a while it becomes second nature to play a solo over a chord progression just about anywhere on the fretboard.

Seriously, I had to rewind part of it because my mind started imagining how hard it must be to keep overlaying the note names and the notes for each position and then color coding it all and next thing you know I've missed a minute and a half of content.
Yeah man it is very hard to edit

Hotel- trivago
Mind-blownn! I found it out today the caged system has opened my interest in more and more awesome theory about scales

This teacher is a visionary. I've never had a guitar lesson like this one here. Perfect!

Please don’t die!
In total agreement. You are giving me hope again. BIG THANKS
How is this different from just using position 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 for the pentatonic positions? I don't get it.
@@zootsoot2006 You get it. They are placed the same place on the neck😊
The pentatonic scales are formed aroud these CAGED-shapes.
That made so much sense, keep on doing what your doing!

Thank you.

This HAS to be the best guitar video on the internet hands down.
Not only that, it MUST the fifth-best guitar video on the internet hands up.

I started playing when I was 17 back in 1981! OMG! I learned that 'G-shaped' pentatonic. I cannot believe anybody gave this a thumbs down, probably people who sell lessons or books. This is a very nice lesson. Thanks Scott. Thanks a lot!

Hey kraptastic333 - My Patreon is a great resource for learning how to use music theory to write music. I go step by step with how stuff works and offer creative challenges twice a month to my community. I'm also available once a week for a live Q&A where any question is welcome
@@ScottPaulJohnson thank you for the follow up!! I will be making steps to join soon
The fact that you have more of a 'big picture'/ holistic approach to teaching, is what makes this next level. Great video, exactly what I was looking for, for years!
Some accidents are god-created. I accidentally landed on your channel, and I realize how fortunate this is. All these years I was kinda running away from this theory because it never was explained so well. And now i know i can finally fulfill my dream of playing guitar.
Same bro, well I first saw the CAGED map, i am totally lost and have no idea where should i start.
God led you to a guitar video? So absurd.
@@hunterbiden7391 god just fulfilled my wish and made things simpler for me. Your pic profile indicate that you are an atheist, and i don't intent to prove it to you.
you dont land on any channel by accident. YT is in control.

i so agree! hes the only teacher on youtube i actually can comprehend!
This is honestly the most comprehensive lesson I have ever seen on RUclips - I learnt this in a single day, compared to when my friend tried to teach me this I couldn’t learn it in a week. Truly amazing keep it up
I’ve been playing since I was 13.
Thank you!
Same here. Def the breakthrough I've needed for a long time
similar story for me hahah
but I am finding it very hard to wrap my head around I have a headache :(
"Cuticle of 5ths" 🤣
Write your own songs and you will be satisfied.
After 10 years of "practicing" guitar and having heard of the caged system THIS video is the first time the instrument has made sense. Expert explanation. No time waisted. No redundancy. Magnificent visuals. 10/10 would recommend to any level of player. Outstanding video. 👏
what kind of people in this world disliking a free lesson like this
Dude for realss
people that should just put it down and forget about it.
Idiots?
Those “dislikes” are the people who think that he should be paying them. :) I’m just happy I found him. Love his description and his A/V work. Really great.
guitar teacher who just lost their student
I'm a more advanced player that already knows the map, but I still like to watch videos from different content creators just to see what tricks they might have that I don't know. Wow. CAGED is taught so incredibly succinctly here, it's phenomenal. Everything from how clear his instructions are, to the concepts he shares, to the meter of his voice. It's uber focusing & I'm shocked this guy doesn't have more subs.
God bless your editor, that looks like hell to edit
It was me!!!! And yeah it took foreverrrrrrrrr
@@ScottPaulJohnson totally worth it
I was thinking the same thing my friend...must have took hours n hours to put that together...very clever....REspect, peace.
SMH
@@ScottPaulJohnson Love the fretboard overlay. Makes it so much easier to follow the video!
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!
subbed!!
Sir, you are a very, very, good guitar teacher. If I lived in your town, I would camp on your doorstep and not leave until you agreed to give me lessons. Best lesson I have ever had. Simply the best.
This is ground breaking for me, I have been "playing" guitar for years but never fully grasped the caged system until I seen this video. Your visuals helped it all click now I am jamming better then ever and showing all my friends!
Why do I see two different comments when I open or close answer to comment
Why does this sound like an ad
The best online guitar lesson. I've played guitar as a hobby for a long time, but I had hit a wall. All I had done is learn songs. Suddenly the ability to jam is within reach. Thank you so much.
Seeing as I'm self quarantining myself... Can't wait to try learn this. I feel like it'll lead me into musical freedom on the guitar.
It will! It opens the door to using different chord voicings or chord fragments, and after a while it becomes second nature to play a solo over a chord progression just about anywhere on the fretboard.
@@carlosmatos9848 5 days of practice and it bloody works. Never been able to jam and improvise before through my 9 years of playing. Still mess up but they're the kinks I need to kick out.
You and me both; I have always wanted to something besides strumming chords or playing covers and this is like gold.
Dude, we have the same last name, fucking epic
Lewis Yu same dude
Subscribed instantly. This is the most clear and concise music theory video/course/whatever I have ever seen. My guitar teacher would spend hours vomiting information and not teaching and showing the whole picture.
Incredible job.
