So I’ve done some research after purchasing and installing the Mopar air intake. With previous after market filters and intakes, I would always purchase a second air filter. This way after washing, it can dry on its own and I can install the clean one in its place. I live in Pittsburgh, PA and changing my oil and cleaning the filter are not always done during warm days that the filter would dry sooner rather than later. So I called my dealership, because I could find no part number for the filter. Dealership had to call Chrysler. I have the part number, but Chrysler hasn’t given a price or even taking orders for this item apparently until mid to the end of August or even at all, even Hugh the instructions that come with the intake system state you can either wash and reuse or purchase a new filter. If interested, I can give you the part number so you can use it yourself and also put this information out on RUclips for anyone else.
@@DaMillerKillR Part # 68414387AA, according to Karen’s dealership here in Pittsburgh. Have looked up the number but no success with the part # or purchase of a second filter. When I have, will post it for all.
@@DaMillerKillR Went to my dealership today. Since the Ram GT packages are out now, figured there might be more info for the RamAir intake. First, I was given the wrong part number. As long as it’s the right filter, I will get the exact part number out to all who want it.
Great video. Contemplated buy this since buying my ram in March of 2020. Thanks to your videos content showing just how easy installation was, I purchased and installed mine. Outstanding job and thank you.
Thanks for sharing this video. Very informative. I purchased the RAM Airflow for Christmas for my wife's 2019 Big Horn. The plan is to install it next week.
I installed a Vararam CAI on my 2021 Ram 1500 Laramie Night Edition and also noticed an increased throttle response and jump in MPGs even though the social media expert mechanics say that it's just a placebo effect. Sounds amazing when you step on the accelerator, too. Besides cost, what do you think the difference is between the Vararam and the Mopar CAI? Both of them look and sound amazing in my opinion.
The 2 bolts that you put in at 9:00. Do you know what size or maybe a part number they are? Mine are missing and I have zip ties holding the brackets in place. Thanks.
Seems big and in the way where its harder to get to other components without having to remove pieces. It also places the intake high and to the rear where it will raise intake air temps and hinder performance. Besides "looking cool" it seems self defeating from a convenience and performance standpoint. Its also a dozen times more complicated than a good cold air intake and my guess because of its complexity, more expensive as well.
What was the total time from start to finish for the install? Came out nice. Can't wait to get mine, supposed to get here tomorrow. Did you notice any HP gains?
There is zero increase. Without changing the size of the throttle body. No more air will go in than what the engine management system is programed to allow. This just increase the surface area for which air to flow.
If I did this is there some way to retain the factory air box so I can put a second battery in for my subwoofers? Is the mount sturdy enough I didn't see if/when u unbolted that part 🤔? Thanks in advance
Thanks for the informative video! Did the kit come with some type of plug or cover to seal the opening where the original intake snorkel was taking in air?
Where is the air coming from. If from the top of the hot radiator would it be a cold air intake?? Not being negative Im just doing my homework . Most cold air intake come from inside the fender. Also why does it say for off road use only??
It’s cool air forced in when moving. Sitting in traffic it will be more hot air I assume. Never had an issue going through Atlanta and having to sit in traffic. I think most aftermarket ones have that phrase. Probably because of California emissions.
@@str8speed919 Its for looks. Your better off getting a true cold air intake. This will not improve anything. You would be better off dropping in a K&N factory replacement filter in your existing air box.. I personally will get a Volant cold air intake that pulls from inside the fender . This is a hot air intake
Great video for install. I have a 22 limited night edition with etorque...i only want the ram air for a deeper sound without changing mufflers.... Can you notice a major difference in sound?
Hello, Do you find the ram airflow is as good or better than just a traditional new cold air intake? In general most seem to just put in a new traditional style intake. I would think if this type was better, that would be the standard for a new one…. Your thoughts or what you found out from doing research on the traditional upgraded intake? Reason I’m asking, considering buying a new Laramie GT, which has this intake on it already, but I think the exhaust they add is just for sound, so I’m thinking of putting on a new exhaust, and thought of changing the intake as well, but maybe not?
I think it’s better than the standard one but I’m not sure if it tops aftermarket ones out there. I wanted something different than what most people have. It does have great airflow and increases engine sound. Also, a small increase in mpg. Feels like it has a little more torque.
Not sure on the measurement but basically just measuring from the bottom of your stock intake port on the grill to the top of the grill. I’m guessing at least 6-8 inches. I can try to get you an accurate measurement later today.
In general I heard that Cold air intakes causes moisture inside pistons by time , is it true? Cause I got my 2021 Ram and I wanna make sure nothing harms the engine at all even while driving for years , hope I get an accurate answer LOL
Nice video!! Question...how much work will be involved to remove this in the event engine work needs to be performed (i.e., alternator, water pump, hoses, belt etc.?) In other words, "ease of access". Should Ease of access to the engine components be considered if you're deciding on whether to install this or not?
The government just passed new laws against dealership warranty practices. Basically the dealership now has to PROVE that the part/instal was what caused the issue. Before it could be assumed. It changes a lot for the better, as the can violate FTC laws by saying aftermarket parts caused the issue without handling over and proof based on test. Check it out, really good stuff for the custom scene.

Better response and it definitely opens up the engine sound. Better mpg too. It doesn’t have a whine sound but you can hear it whistle. If it does have a small whine, I can’t hear it over my loud exhaust lol.
You get no significant performance gains without other mods like, headers, exhaust and possibly throttle body and a tune. Its a system that has to work together. Higher air intake requires higher flow exhaust to be effective.
So I have been debating on either getting the RAM AirFlow cold air intake or the AFE Momentum GT Cold Air Intake W/ Pro 5R filter for my 2021 Ram 1500 Quad Cab Big Horn. I do understand that the RAM AirFlow is on the pricey side and is about $1000 and that it also won’t void any warranties. The AFE cold air intake is about half the price of that and to my understanding that too doesn’t void any warranties unless something major happens and causes something to happen to the engine. I also understand that one is a dry filter while the other one is an oiled filter. Is it worth spending the extra $500 to get the RAM AirFlow or should I just go for the AFE Momentum cold air intake?
I really like the way the Ram Airflow looks. I’m sure either one would be good. Just depends on how much you want to spend. It just hits different when I pop the hood lol.
