we just had this rodeo at my place. My dad has a 2017 with the CK engine light on the last 3 years he's paid what the law requires to the dealer!!!! The dealer where he bought the truck and it is under warranty but they say they cannot fix it because they don't know what it is so state law says he has to pay $500 and they will Waiver the vehicle... That is Pennsylvania. In March he buys another Dodge truck and the CK engine light is on on that one. Saturday afternoon he came here and I proved to him they are ripping him off. I put in 107 octane avo gas at the airport where I keep my plane.. He went home light was still on he said to me. Next morning light was out.... He is getting scammed by the dealer... SCAM SCAM SCAM... Its the ethenol in the gas and just recently here they have put stickers on most of the pumps in my area. Don't know about other places but You will see CONTAINS 15% ETHENOL... I am told now Super unleaded can contain up to 25% Ethenol. that can't be good for thee Evap..
Thanks Scotty i had a 2000 Durango with a 5.9l. Drove it from 1999 to totaled in 2020. Was reliable till about 2016 then a few problems. worse was rear main seal and lower lower steering shaft also rack was bad. It was a Daimler Chrysler product not Stellantis. After it got totaled i looked at the new Durango and went out and bought a 2021 4 Runner sr5 premium. Couldnt be happier.
be so easy to just have tiny numbers display. My old dodge, you just turned ignition on off on, and the engine light would blink the code. Dunno if they still do that.
The manufacturers want you to visit their dealerships. If a check engine code comes up, take it to an auto store where they can check the code for free.
@@rtel123 Wouldn't it be even easier to just display the whole actual code on one of the large screens all these new vehicles come with instead of the old 2 or 3 digit code you need to look up?
Rip Robert David Steele. He was the champion of right to repair. If you are unaware of who he was, may I suggest you have a look at the man's work. He was a legend.
Going to agree to disagree, I own a 2019 Ram 1500 Limited. 202k miles, only serviced no big issues. shifts and runs great. I tow 10k plus a week. love it.
I own a 19 Ram 1500, Laramie 90,000 miles. It has been a wonderful vehicle. It’s been all around the Midwest for my daughter’s gymnastics. It’s towed a tractor and a skid steer before. The back seat is like a limo. Adult men can sit there. It’s smooth, quiet, comfortable, and powerful. I’ve loved it. I understand your beef with right to repair. I’m glad independent shops can work on it, however I’m past the point in my life of wrenching on my own stuff. My only two problems 1. Gas mileage is what it is 2. Prices are so high now I couldn’t replace it.
Do you have the siriusxm and if so how much do you pay a month and what does that include? I pay $26 a month and doesn’t include radio and they want me to pay $100 for navigation update
@@bobbybrooks5846 Mine was ordered with NAV in the Uconnect. I don’t pay for Sirius. I use Pandora and Bluetooth my phone into the Uconnect. For directions I use Google Maps. Its spoken directions played through the infotainment system are adequate to get me around. The NAV in the Uconnect has not been updated ever but I find the search and address entry process easier on Google. Uconnect is weird. The entry is State, city, street, address number. It does work well, but it’s cumbersome.
I have only had ram trucks for my primary vehicle since 1993. On my 5th one. Great service and won't buy any other brand truck. Pulled fifth wheels from coast to coast.
They are terrible, waste your time and lie I have owned rams for years. Pissed me off when they locked us out of tuning and diagnostic. 2015 and up you can't modify unless you void the warranty. Now my 2022 is made and assembled in America . They haven't screwed it up with fiat. Those darts and 200s are junk ram has not changed much. The Mercedes merger got the 5.7,and 4.7 still in service
Correct! Didn’t close my air box on my hemi and sucked in dirt for 2k miles. Worthless dealership wouldn’t do much for me! Went from having a brand new $54k truck to feeling sick to my stomach when I look at it! I’ve never been so angry in my life.
Apple, John Deere, Tesla and now Chrysler have all abandoned the customer who pays their paychecks in terms of right to repair. It is disgusting and infuriating.
@@johnbishop7912Maybe you aren't smart enough to work on your own modern car but don't speak for others. It's not as hard as you make it out to be. Keep crying and defending the greedy manufacturers that don't care about you at all. That's exactly what they want 👍
I’ve had four Ram 1500s since 2002. The only thing besides brakes and tires was a radiator and an A/C compressor both of which I replaced myself on one them. Highway mpg is between 20 and 21 on all of them. All had Hemi’s. Wouldn’t ever buy their eco diesel though.
Because they have the 5.9 magnum v8 (older models) or they have well maintained 5.7’s. I’ve seen the 5.9’s still on the road with 300K and I’ve seen some rare 5.7’s with that much on them no issues. 6.4’s are pretty good too but the rockers tend to wear out prematurely so getting them replaced is key in any Hemi. The pentastar v6 is a pretty good motor but the transmission it’s mated to is garbage. If you know what to expect and preemptively address these issues, they can run 300’s easy.
Not disputing the right to repair-and I genuinely find your videos informative and entertaining-but as a balanced point: I had a 2014 Ram 2500 that had a transmission failure at 40k miles. It was just outside of warranty and I bought it used. I hand-wrote FCA/Ram and they fixed it for free. True story. Not the actions of a POS company in my opinion.
@@simonbelmont548😂I don't think you understand why ppl buy heavy duty trucks. Anywayyy the ZF transmissions are the best in the industry. That's why everybody from McLaren, Rolls Royce and Mack and Caterpillar use them
@omardevonlittle3817 I don't think you understand. Bragging about hd Dodge when their motor is not even a dodge, it is a Cummins. Which is the only good thing the truck has, and that's because it is not a dodge. Even dodge know they make shitty engines. Dodge is trash has always been trash and will always be trash.
216k on my 2019 5.7 ram 2wd. No issues ever @@simonbelmont548my 98 ram has 389k miles all original. Leaks a quart a week but still runs. Oddly enough the only cars to ever have issues in my family are out 2013 Camry and 2014.5 Camry. Both have the dreaded jerky torque converter problem that plagues every Camry from 2012-2014.5. Toyota will not fix. Every time I go to the grocery store I'm reminded why I will never buy a Toyota again.
I've had three RAMS over the years and they were the best trucks I ever owned. I agree, millions of people like to repair their own vehicles, but, tens of millions don't! You don't need to go to the high priced dealer. I have always used the "Mom and Pop" type of garages to maintain my vehicles.
@@benjy117 That's just simply not true. Buying vehicles is one of the worst (but necessary) decisions people make, aside from maybe boats. They are financial LOSERS, every time. Drive them as long as you can and fix them. Pales in comparison to a new truck, which nowadays is $50K and up, and often way way up.
Agreed. I have a 2010 Rav4 with V6. 290K miles. Bought it 6 years ago for 15K. I will drive this until it dies a very bad death. About to buy 3rd set of tires for it ($750). Last year was new struts. Brakes are newish ( 3 yrs I think). Also replaced a front hub 2 years ago. Not horrible to work on. Soon it will be time to replace suspension bushings (lotsa small thumps when driving slow). Money wise replacing it would be much more $$$ than keeping it. @@mplslawnguy3389
My 2019 Ram is the best truck I’ve ever owned. 74k completely issue free. It’s my 4th Ram. I’ve had an F-150 and 2 Silverados and Ram is the best of all. Least issues and failures and it’s an actual truck. Great interior space, solid body, strong engine.
They’re nice trucks, but it will nickel and dime you to death. Siriusxm makes me hate the big screen. I pay $26 a month and they still want me to pay $100 for outdated navigation
I have a Ram 3500 with the Cummins High Output engine and the Aisin Tranny. People argue about Ram vs Chevy vs Ford but in my opinion the cummins is second to none.
I have owned 4 Ram 1500's so far and never had an issue with any of them. Proper maintenance and having everything checked every oil change and you shouldn't have a problem.
I have a 2008 Ram 4x4 with a 5.7 Hemi with about 71,000k miles on it, suspension and wheel bearing problems are the only problems we have had so far. Also it cost a fortune to replace all 16 spark plugs. It is just about identical to your (wow, 300k!!) 2007 model (in 2009 they changed the design and went to coil springs). Hope to get a few more years out of it.
Before MDS is probably why. All the Ram 1500 owners I know trade in around 100,000 miles because that is when they have a lot of issues and are expensive to fix.
07 was a good year for many cars. Honda accord 07 was the best year easy imo. The peak. The 4 cylinder and v6. No hybrids no lane monitoring no touch screens. Just a real good car no more no less. 07 was before the corruot federal government tried to fully go awol and try to assassimate anyone who wont make electrics
Nothing in the video supports the headline. Truck has almost 90k miles and it still looks and runs like new. How many truck owners would want to fiddle with the little stuff? Approximately zero. Great truck; go ahead and buy it.
Exactly. It's a truck getting some miles on it with zero issues. But Scotty manufactures a reason to criticize it. You can use free software on your phone to evaluate the diagnostics, or pay $50 for good stuff. This is a lot cheaper than what I had to spend to work on my VW. Such an asinine take here.
My family has a 2019 RAM 1500. We started going to the dealership at first for the maintenance and it was getting very expensive. Now we go to our local honest mechanic. Definitely recommend if you have a RAM to go to a local mechanic instead.
@@leadnsteel1428 We Wish - Laws are in place in several states which prohibit direct to consumer vehicle sales. Michigan was the first state to adopt this law. I don't know how Tesla gets away with it.
I love my 2012. I bought it with 80k and had to put some money into it as you do to every used vehicle you purchase but the with the repairs the truck is perfect and should last a while. Going to be taking my 6th road trip here soon!
I've had a RAM 5.7 for 10 years....the truck has been bulletproof no problems at all. My independent mechanic has been servicing the RAM since the day I bought it...he has no problem in accessing data. I certainly would never buy a Ford with a crappy V6 turbo!
I'd rather have the Ford with a 5.0 over anything RAM or GM makes today; their V8s all come with engine-killing displacement-on-demand (or a variation of), all v6s with turbos are a joke regardless the maker, and Chevy is now putting 4-bangers with turbos in their pickups, which is major joke. In MY21, Ford added CD on their 5.0, but I'll still take a pre-'21 5.0 over the others any day of the weak. But I will say, I am a huge fan of how RAM has managed to improve their reputation, for years Dodge trucks were a joke, literally, and now I actually really like RAMs. I'd even consider one if it weren't for the cylinder deactivation and Stellantis.
The evap issue can be avoided by not putting in anymore fuel once the pump clicks off. I have a 2015 and the only thing I've had to replace is the radiator. I love my Ram :)
Scotty-"The dash looks really nice." "This thing runs really good." "19mpg for a big truck is pretty good." Also Scotty-"Rams are the biggest POS vehicles." What a 🤡🤡🤡
You need special software to access ECUs on Toyotas now too. Also if you think a minor EVAP code makes that truck a POS then don't ever look at the new 2022 and 2023 Tundras, we get nothing but complaints on those things, and the new sequoia and RAV4 have water leaks. I would much rather have a RAM with a powerful hemi and reliable ZF transmission.
One reason I bought a 2018 Tundra Crewmax recently. Toyota made a huge mistake following the rest of the car industry using turbos. Any person with a brain would rather have a v6 or v8 instead of a rinky dinky turbo. I refuse to purchase a vehicle with a turbo. It's only designed to keep the manufacture cost down and nothing else.
@@benjy117 Its not “following”! The govt mandated strict cafe standards and the only practical way to meet them is to turbo. I agree turbos are laggy and wear out your engine faster but its all potus’ fault
I remember why I quit following this goof ball. When I watch the video it sounds like he loves the truck! He really really tries to hate American nameplates.
Great to see all these positive comments on the 5.7 liter longevity! My 2001 1500 has 150k on it and still runs beautifully. Love the sound and feel of that old V8 and hope to get a few more years out of it before I have to replace it, as high as newer trucks have gotten to purchase. The gas mileage is absolutely horrible, but that will never offset the cost of a newer truck, of course.
I've owned seven Rams I wouldn't buy any other truck. I guess I'm a lucky guy cuz I've never had any major problems with any of them I'm on number seven right now.
@nocturnalgamer8285 reliability ratings are on just about every car and truck website. Goes by amount of warranty claims, amount of recalls, and amount of complaints filed. I didn't make it up myself.
I’ve had a new RAM every 3 years for 20 years. I currently have a 2023 Longhorn Limited! Love my RAM. Have never had a single problem. It saddens me that the HEMI is going away.
I test drove the 2025 Ram with the v6 Hurricane engine and compared to my current 21 V8 ... I felt it was more responsive and quick to accelerate. But it sounded different and weird... The interior quality also felt cheap for some reason. And 68k for what. Thinking of just buying out my Laramie lease for 35k and keep it for a long time
I have a 2019 Ram with about the same mileage. I also had the code for the active air dam, but that code can be thrown if there are bugs or something on the fins that keep them from completely closing during the startup test. No big deal. Other than that, I've had the rear window replaced 3 times due to water leaks, the driver's side sun visor broke and fell down in my face while in traffic, and now the exhaust manifold is cracked. These are all incredibly common problems on the 5th gen. Especially the window leaks. EVERYONE is getting them.
@@hatdowntight most people take it to the dealer to fix it if it's still under warranty. Why would you pay a 3rd party to fix it, if its still under warranty
It would be nice if there was ANY consistency with Scottys reviews. One week Ram is King, next they are a 1 star vehicle... With that out of the way, some real facts. I work for the largest mining company in the US. We buy on average 60 diesel 2500/250 class trucks per year all over the country. Looking at our 20 year study, Dodge/Ram actually lead the way in our study as for dependability. GM is far and away the worst an Ford is middle of the road. Every truck is serviced every 8k miles.
You're one of the few people that actually care immensely and advocate for right to repair, because crazy thought maybe we don't wanna spend $1k more than we have to
Why people continue to go to dealerships for those thousand dollar repairs is beyond me. If you don't want to work on your vehicle, take it to a local mechanic. Find one you trust. Dealers, ESPECIALLY Ram dealers, are the biggest scam artists on the planet. I had my truck in for a recall (only time I go to a dealer) They did a "complimentary inspection" and said I needed a new cabin air filter...... and asked for $175 to do it. It's a $15 filter, takes five minutes and zero tools to change. LMFAO.
Scotty, I have a 22 ram 1500 and I took it to O’Reilly and they had no trouble with the scan tool at all so I think there’s no longer a problem for the average person to use a scan tool
Same here. I also have a 2017 Jeep grand cherokee limited & only need one vehicle so I’m trying to figure which one to keep haha, the truck makes it hard to let go.
I hope you never have a roller bearing failure on those extremely pricy MDS lifters that wipes out your cam shaft. The BEST thing about Ram is Cummins. Believe me, I own a fleet.
ALL late model truck brands have their own unique issues today, just buy what you like and maintain them. Toyota has now joined all the American brands in making great, but flawed pickup trucks. They all have problems, just take care of them and buy the right powertrain for your needs.
Nitpicking does not help. Late models are made to keep everybody down the line, with abundant work ! Food for thought. Chrysler's electronics have never been too flash ! Speaking from personal experience BTW.
@@owenwatson9828Loved my all my dodges ranging from 06-2011. They were goofy as can be with electronics. They started every time though. I wouldn't touch a new one. Sounds like Dodge has had bad electronics since the 60s according to my dad. They still haven't figured it it.😂
AAAAACTUALLY RAM IS RANKED 16th OUT OF ROUGHLY 30 brands sold in the USA. Ford is around 22. Gm is second to last. Mercedes is last. Toyota is first. Lexus is second. For reliability. Ram however is the most expensive to own over a ten year period.

I'm on my 3rd Ram. I've had a 2nd gen, 3rd gen, and 4th gen. They've all been really good trucks. The only issue I've ever had is with my 4th gen when the cab vents (2 of them, about 6x6 inches each, located between the back of the cab and the bed) disintegrated and let water stream right into the cab every time it rained. The dealer wanted over $1000 to fix it because they said the bed had to be removed to access the filters (which are literally $8 each, by the way). So, I spent $100 on a Milwaukee electric ratchet, pulled the rear seat, pulled the rear cab panel, and there were the 2 filters. Pulled the old ones, put the new ones in, and put everything back together. Took about 30 minutes total. Literally spent a tenth of what the dealer wanted (before tax, etc.) and didn't have to remove the bed. I've owned trucks from each of the Big 3. They've each been really good in their own way, and none of them ever let me down. But every time I went to the dealer, regardless of the company, I got ripped off. It's what dealers do and that's why people hate them so much. They will lie, cheat, and steal, and then laugh at you for being foolish enough to come onto their lot. It's not just Chrysler. It's all of them. I'm not at all surprised they locked OBD2 access, since gaining access is means you have to go back to the dealer (or a certified mechanic) and give them more money. I'm just surprised more companies DON'T do that. You're right, it's shady business practice, but nobody is going to hold them accountable. Now, you mentioned Honda and Toyota (I think) in this video as companies who don't do that sort of thing with the OBD2 access. My parents are lifelong Toyota fans. Literally won't drive anything else. And I've seen those cars fall apart right out from under them. I've also seen the Toyota dealer screw them so bad my father had to physically stop my mother from throwing a brick through the showroom window. So, to be fair, I think it's safe to say that ALL dealers are shady and should not be trusted, and ALL cars will have recalls and issues here and there, so it's best to just pick your flavor and be as happy as you can with it. We're all in the same boat.
Your Poor mom. I get it though. My dealer (GM) sent me away after doing a warranty job that left me with a stuck open throttle. By coincidence I picked it up instead of my wife thank God.
I've got a '99 that sat for 12 years at my buddies house. It's got the atrociously underpowered 3.6L on it. I spent about $4,000 to bring it back and in the year I have had it running again, it's been flawless. I know it's always going to be a project because of its age but it's my truck.
My 99 sat for 10 years no tag. 5 speed. Start her up every once in a while and keep battery on float charge. Decided to insure and tag her, drove her around and got emissions test and passed. What I hate most is the proprietary chrysler diagnostics where you need a DRBIII or wiTech w/$1.6k annual subscription. Scantools like maxisys won't do enhanced functions.

My friend in 2013 bought a 2013 Dodge Ram truck with the 5.7 engine. It's a quad cab 2 by 4 and it has been a very good truck. He is retired so the miles are not that high. Oh yeah he only paid 29K for it and yes it was brand new.

Whatever happened to the days when someone could buy a basic Toyota or Ford Ranger truck that's compact, rock solid 4 cylinder engine, manual transmission, crank windows and can be bought for less than a stripped Hyundai? I remember driving my a Toyota dealer a long time ago and they were drowning in inventory of pre-Tacoma trucks. They were begging people to buy them for $8,000.
The automakers claimed that small truck sales all but disappeared by 09 recession, but I think that was just an excuse to try to make trucks that are as overpriced and profitable as possible , moving forward, because of the bailout agreements they brokered with the federal govt. There's defintely a market for small trucks as most people who own trucks never tow or haul anything. I see so many of these f250 or 2500 series trucks, lift kits, oversized off road tires, and i bet most of them have never left pavement. Or had more than set of golf clubs in the bed. Status symbol to own a truck now because of how overpriced they are. The only people buying them new , could just as easily buy a mercedes or bmw. People who actually need trucks just want a bare-bones 2 door , 8ft bed. that doesn't even appear to be an option anymore.
I have a 2017 Tacoma Which I brought brand new Extra cab 4 wheel drive 4 cylinder with 5 speed manual transmission It’s a little slow But I’m 60 years old and I’m not interested in racing anyone anymore The thing is bullet proof Runs and drives like the day I first got it Only thing I’ve done is changed the oil every 5000 miles with full synthetic oil
I had one of those Rangers, what a piece of crap, sucked gas like pig and couldn't get out of its own way, after 8 months of putting up with it I traded it in for a Toyota truck 4x4 with the 22re, the performance and mpg was incredible compared to the ford.
I have a 2018 that has been trouble free so far. Because I watch Scotty all the time I keep wondering if I will be able to get home from the grocery store.
I do not know how you can watch him all the time, his videos are awful. I have never subscribed but his videos get fed to me regularly. I usually cannot get through 2 minutes without turning him off.
Calm down Scottie and take your meds! I have a 2016 Laramie with 193k and the truck is still in excellent shape and burning no oil while getting mileage nearly identical to when new! I am NOT a mechanic but I do my own oil changes and tire rotation and I have an OBD device that read and resets error codes and have never had an emissions issue in the totalitarian state of NY and my OBD allows me to program new key fobs for 1/4 what the stealerships want. Maybe it’s because mine is pre Stellantis but it is by far the best and most comfortable truck I have ever owned! Minimal repairs and all my electronics still work! I have learned some good things from Scottie but perhaps he has some bipolar issues!
I live in England and I don't think there's many people here that would buy one with fuel the price it is, and with the roads the size they are you'd never find a parking space!
Stellantis products like Ram, Dodge and Chrysler are made for the US market. Jeep however is internationally accepted because of its smaller size. Fiat is another Stellanis product that works in Europe but not in the US.
@rob5944 I understand where you're coming from I've been to Europe several times. Outside of a few dense urban areas with public transit you have to have a car in the US. A large truck if you need to haul something.
Had a friend from Romania visit. He looked at my son's lifted 2007 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins and was incredulous. He called it a Panzerkampfwagen. My son is a WWII buff and laughed so hard he cried.
I got a 2016 RAM 1500 regular cab with the infamous 3.6 engine. (Oil filter housing leak galore) but other than that i love the thing. Definitely wanna trade it for a 5.7 soon tho
Those plastic oil filter housings are currently killing those motors at a rapid rate. They can suddenly leak oil or coolant and in no time the engine is junk.
@@benjy117it’s not a rear “gasket”. The filter housing/cooler assembly cracks and pressurized oil leaks out and runs down the rear of the engine. Junk design from day one.
I have a 2014 with the 3.6. It's a decent engine with good mileage and power, but not made for towing. I also experienced the housing/cooler leak after doing my own oil change...the old o-ring was in the cannister and with the new filter I had 2 o-rings, which caused me to over tighten. The dealer replaced the housing part with a new redesigned part. Who ever thought it was a good design to have plastic cranked down onto a metal manifold??
Have a Chrysler Aspen with a 5.7 Hemi and a 2002 300m this two are the most reliable cars ever still working fine , I will buy another 5.7 in a heart beat.
But if we don't buy a ram then we have to get a Chevy v8 with bad lifters or a four-cylinder turbo, or we can go with an aluminum Ford with EcoBoost. I choose ram any day over those two.
Scotty, don't forget one of the biggest problems with Dodge. All 3rd gen rams have the fuel pump relay integrated into the fuse box. If the relay goes bad, and it will (my 2012 2500 went bad and I'm in Fl), you got to replace the entire fuse box. Which is very expensive. But there is a work around for that using verticalvisions tipm plug in relay that uses a spare relay and wiring in the box to restore it without changing the fuse box. Great solution. Then there is the cam shaft and lifter problem with all the Hemi's with the active fuel management requiring the heads to be rebuilt due to worn out lifters, camshaft, and valves. Luckily, I don't have that on my Hemi.
I have a 14 year old truck I’ve owned since new. The check engine light has never came on once in its life which has got to be a rare thing. I won’t say what make it is but Ford riving purposes it’s been a great pretty relatively trouble free vehicle.
The 5.7L Hemi V8 has thin exhaust manifolds that warp and break the bolts and start exhaust leaks. It's not a matter of "if" it will happen, but "when".
I had this almost exact truck. Loved the truck for the comfort and style BUT its entire electrical system failed, blew up the computer and literally shut the truck off while driving. Also had to have transmission replaced all before 70k miles. Never again
Yep, had a 2020 Ram with 41,000 miles and transmission had to be replaced. Two months later the transfer case started leaking fluid and needed replaced. Second time I’ve owned a Ram. Never again ..
@@duaneclark7108 Very good. Maybe you would do better with a Cummins and the Asian transmission. I would go with the Bighorn 6 passenger with no leather or carpet.
Agree as a consumer it’s a ripoff to not access the data. Surprised however as a mechanic you didn’t mention the coil spring rear suspension, along with TH very comfortable seats , it’s a great ride for a pickup. The best for a 1/2 ton full size IMO.
I get a kick out of people saying "i bought "this brand" best truck i ever own..only ever did this and that to it" And then say they only have 100k miles ... 100k miles should be a given to be trouble free ..
It's still leaps and bounds better than a Ford or Chevy right now. Chevy has major lifter and tranny issues as well as Ford. The Hemi and ZF transmission is much better than the other offerings.
@@70DMac Im pretty sure the top end lifter/cam/oiling issue is pretty prevalent and well known about on the Hemis, especial in fleet vehicles that spend a large amount of time idling. At least from my research, look into it. I'll look into the Chevy problems, i know about the DOD, variable cam timing, and aluminum porsity issues on earlier castings. What have you heard about the GMs ?
I have a 2015 1500 with 85k on her. Bought it used at 70k. She runs like a dream and only issue I’ve had was a cracked exhaust manifold that was fixed under warranty
This was a very repetitive video. 1) RAM won't let you access your info. 2) You live in Tennessee. 3) They have no emissions testing there. Heard it all about 4x over in this video. Thought you were going to say why RAMs are a POS, but you were pretty complimentary of the truck, just dogged out Chrysler.
I really love the ride n performance of my 2019 RAM. No other half-ton comes close IMO. Where else can I get that great cockpit feel, ride and consistent performance?
Same, I’ve got a 2019 bighorn with 80k Miles. With the e torque. It’s way nicer and cheaper than a used f150 of equivalent year and mileage. I was considering a Tacoma, but they’re just too slow, and Toyota & Subaru cruise control sucks. Time will tell if our trucks make it to 150k with no hemi tick.

My 21 Tundra had its filler neck and gas tank replaced at 15K miles because i couldn't fill gas without it triping out every .1gallons. It took 15 mins to put in 5 gallons. I think the EPA is more to blame than the truck manufacturer IMO.

My brother had a 19 Ram with the hemi and had to have the lifters and camshaft replaced twice in 60,000 miles. Constant electrical problems it was was a POS! I’d never own one.
My 2015 Ram, 5.7 L 8 speed ZF transmission. 199,500 miles and absolutely no problems until the last 10 days pulling a travel trailer. A water pump last week and a differential overhaul as I type this. I have nothing to complain about. I have definitely got great service from this truck and I would buy another.
I'm on my second RAM & most of my family drive Mopar products and they've been great vehicles. I think most of the car manufactures are limiting how much you can work on your vehicle.
My grandfather owns a 2022 RAM. "Luxury trucks" are not real trucks. Trucks are work vehicles, "Luxury trucks" are for insecure Men. Which is why pedestrian and cyclist deaths are so high, those things are everywhere.
What are you even talking about? Insecure men buy trucks that are nice inside and can still work? Sounds like you are projecting your own internal mommy issues.
I had a 2019 ram fifth generation I just got rid of it in July. It had 169K on it. I’ve been a Mopar guy for a while, but it was time for something else. I constantly had to fix it I went through three radiators, three water pumps two starters, leaky back window exhaust manifold. Bolts are broken no heat on the driver side, and I kept up with the truck changing oil all the fluids and everything but it was time to say goodbye they just don’t make anything last anymore. It’s sad, it’s one thing if I didn’t take care of the truck but I own my own landscape business so I have to take care of it so I got a 2015 Nissan titan. I hope I have better luck.
Thanks Scotty, I'm happy to hear the codes came and went. I'm watching your videos to learn more about these. The fact you need permission from Ram is really surprising. I didnt expect u to say that. It should be easier for mechanics to work. U all shouldnt need permission. Makes me wonder why.
I have a 2016 Ram with 128k miles and the only thing ive ever had to replace was my radiator. Keep up on the oil changes and take care of your vehicle and it will last a long time. Take care of your stuff and it will take care of you my dad always said.. I have nothing bad to say about my Ram, I absolutely love mine.

Scammy company. Stellantis should go out of business. All automakers know VERY well how to make a car that lasts. They’ve been made for over 100 years now. There is a reason why certain carmakers’ cars break more often than others….
My question is what year? I'm finding conflicting info on that. Hoping my '17 isn't included if this is true because I was thinking about buying a decent scan tool as I approach 100,000 miles. The good thing is I haven't needed one yet, so the truck has been good to me.
I have a 2005 Durango AWD hemi with 200,000 miles. My wife and I bought it brand new and it runs and drives like it’s brand new. Best vehicle I have ever owned and I’ve owned many different name brands. Will buy a newer Durango Hemi when the need arises but not now.

It's only designed to keep the manufacture cost down and nothing else.
@@benjy117 Its not “following”! The govt mandated strict cafe standards and the only practical way to meet them is to turbo.
I agree turbos are laggy and wear out your engine faster but its all potus’ fault
Well, the Epa is forcing this on all the manufacturers. Toyota used to be the benchmark, but now they are all junk. Good move on the 18 tundra.

The interior quality also felt cheap for some reason. And 68k for what. Thinking of just buying out my Laramie lease for 35k and keep it for a long time
What a good looking truck. No codes with that milage. The other vehicles you check always have codes.

Real experience talking here. Nice.
LMFAO.

He was praising everything about it except the software.. which I’m confused about, because I’ve never had to access software to fix one before.
Nitpicking does not help. Late models are made to keep everybody down the line, with abundant work ! Food for thought. Chrysler's electronics have never been too flash ! Speaking from personal experience BTW.

Thanks so much for that info.

Go to any oil change stations or mechanic they will tell you Chrysler's after a few years have a rear gasket leak on nearly all their Chryslers.
Those plastic oil filter housings are currently killing those motors at a rapid rate. They can suddenly leak oil or coolant and in no time the engine is junk.

I also experienced the housing/cooler leak after doing my own oil change...the old o-ring was in the cannister and with the new filter I had 2 o-rings, which caused me to over tighten. @Murkedbymarx
At how many miles? 200k + I assume. Some of these Chevy's lately been having to be rebuilt at 2500 miles.
Whatever feelings Scotty has toward Stellantis are just half as intense as mine.
Are you sure you're talking 3rd gen? You say 2012 but 3rd gen was 2002 - 2009.
Stupid AFM is a scourge. I disabled it with a tune on my '15 Silverado and so far no issues with the lifters.

My wife has that exact truck, 2019 and all. We had a misfire at 32,000 miles so i bought two new plugs and a coil pack. Haven't had an issue since. We have a litte over 85,000 miles. Best truck we've bought
same here. love it
Come back and talk about your Ram Truck Failures after 3 to 400.000 Miles first THEN we can see the difference between the crappie Italian México RAM pile of junk and and for example Toyota or Honda products.
Regards Jay
At 32,000 miles?? What a POS
@JWORLDKING really? Pile of junk? That's kinda of unnecessary. Likewise, I've had toyotas and sold them because I wasn't happy. I got a ford ranger with close to 500,000 that runs like a champ 👌🏻
@JWORLDKING lol I barely drive mine.
They use to be called Dodge then they switched to Ram I guess they thought loosing Dodge meant no one would think it was a POS Dodge.Around here they rust out before there paid off. They have a nice feature a heated tailgate so your hands do not get cold pushing them in cold weather.
They didn’t “switch” they became a separate entity. Separate company, separate factories, separate engineering.
My 2019 Ram 1500 v6 just spent 5 months total at the dealer getting warranty repairs. Everything from coolant leaks, water pump failover, oil leak, BOTH batteries need replacement. BCPM replacement and a transmission sensor replacement.
I have 2020 ram 1500 i just got a few months ago. I love it! I also have 2002 ram with the 4.7 v8 rolling on 14 wide 20 inch rims wrapped in 37s. Over 260000 miles still runs and drives. So im definitely a ram fan
I've had 3 Limited Ram's... they have been excellent trucks!
When do you get rid of them 150k?
Scotty says every vehicle is a POS. 🤷
Translation: I sleep on rocks and only eat bland tasteless food because I'm a macho man!
What are you even talking about? Insecure men buy trucks that are nice inside and can still work? Sounds like you are projecting your own internal mommy issues.
Translation: I drive a base corrola, and big bad trucks scare me.
...but cyclists are worth 50 points!!
@@bobcook8576 Does that make you feel good. That your expensive, inefficient, dangerous car is "Scary".
Probably because you put over 170k in a time period that people usually put 50k you didn’t give the damn thing a break.
I dumped my RAM for this exact reason at 130k miles! Started smelling the exhaust fumes in the cab...Bought a 2017 F150 5.0 gen 2 XLT Crew 70K miles. Thanx Scotty for recommending the F150 5.0! Love your channel man!!!!
Scotty is right, was a dodge guy for 50 years. But Stellantis is crap. And so are their stealerships..
I had no idea RAM locked out there scanning for non-machanic. Wow.
I'm able to get the codes with Tazer DT. Also you can get your pin code from the dealer and there are after market tools to retrieve it.
I have a 2005 Durango AWD hemi with 200,000 miles. My wife and I bought it brand new and it runs and drives like it’s brand new. Best vehicle I have ever owned and I’ve owned many different name brands. Will buy a newer Durango Hemi when the need arises but not now.
I have owned 3 RAM trucks...never had a issue
