  • Today I am sharing my tips on how I finally lost weight and got healthy on a vegan diet. Yes I follow a whole foods plant based lifestyle, but it isn't as easy as that. Our mind can play such an important role in health and weight-loss so we need to make sure we are taking good control of it in the process so I doesn't sabotage our results.

Interesting video! We are both in our 80's and are all about healthy aging. Getting older does have to mean getting sicker. We still strive for a strong body, a calm mind, & a positive outlook. The key to our great health and longevity is eating a whole food plant-based diet.

I love your channel and your easygoing approach to this lifestyle. I began after coming across two other channels. That were good channels but they left me feeling like I would never be able to keep up with the complicated meals/ingredients. I was literally thinking and over-thinking everything which is so counter productive. I almost gave up. Then I found you and I’m so grateful I did. I’m not stressing anymore about any part of it. Even if I decide to have a “regular” meal here and there I know I’m way ahead of where I used to be just by eating 95% plant based. You should have a million subscribers. Thank you

Exactly on the alcohol. Once I stopped drinking alcohol a few decades ago, “going out” was no longer “fun.” I was using it to create an uninhibited, social persona who has lots of “fake fun.” Once I stopped, I realized that I’m actually quite socially awkward and am an introvert. Lol 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you for the inspirational video! The realization that plant based healthy lifestyle is a conscious choice is validation enough for me to correct life long bad habits. It’s a definitely an ongoing process and we all struggle with social situations and events that arise. I’ve been WFPB oil and caffeine free for 4 months and I won’t go back to my old way of life. I’ve lost 25 so far, I’m excited about my results. I take meals with me when I travel and when I attend family functions. I’m 100% invested in this and I appreciate the time you take out of your life to connect with the public and sharing you experiences.

My husband and I went vegan in January. Our adult kids have been super supportive because they want us to meet all or grandchildren. We rarely eat out because it's so hard to find vegan places that are really healthy. We are just trying to get off all our medications. Alcohol doesn't go with meds so that went away years ago. Lol

Thank you for sharing this. I had the same exact struggles with alcohol. I used to think I needed it in social settings, and when I didn't have any I struggled with a lot of anxiety. In turn it causes me to eat terribly. I have not drank since July 4th, and have no urge or want to drink even one glass of wine with my friends. If anything they have been drinking less when we do hang out, and it's been better for them too. There is no appeal to being unhealthy with drinking these days for me either. Totally relate to all of this. This is a forever lifestyle!

Thanks so much for this video. My issue at one point was socializing with toxic coworkers who seemed to be made of money going to expensive restaurants every day for lunch and ordering everything on the menu and then splitting the bill! And you would be out of their clique if you didn’t do that. I had to make up personal crises to get it out of it and finally changed my job. That situation was the beginning of my weight gain and health problems.

Real friends will always respect your life choices and support you. I don't miss alcohol but I do miss the taste of beer and wine sometimes, so occassionally I do have alcohol free drinks when meeting up with friends. Giving up alcohol was harder for me than giving up animal foods because I'm not that social naturally. It took practice but I think it's getting better!

Work was the hardest with every employee birthday party or office outing. The worst was when everyone had to bring a dish for a party and someone would make a menu out and each person had to put their name out to the side. They always expected me to cook something they ate. When I started veganizing the dish they would freak out. After that I would just bring green beans, no salt no oil 🤣💖

I don't normally eat a lot of nuts but I also brought a mixed nut trail mix because if you're hiking for 8-9 hours a day you need a LOT of calories. I did not intend to lose weight on my backpacking trip because I was already at a healthy weight, but even with eating until I was completely full every meal and snacking on trail mix every day i lost about 8 lbs. Moral of the story is add more fat if you're going to go do a really intense physical adventure :)

I am in my late 40's and premenopausal, struggling with my weight.
Any research on How this way of eating can women in my scenario?

Eating a whole food plant based diet is the healthiest way to eat and has tremendously evened out my hormones. Weight loss is all about getting in a calorie deficit, regardless of ones age. Now hormones can effect metabolism so it is important to eat as healthy as possible to help with that. I would speak with a dietician who promotes a plant based diet if you are concerned with this or a vegan weight loss coach who knows how to help. Ryan Adams with Natural Weight Loss Mastery is amazing!! He has a RUclips Channel full of helpful info. Best of luck to you.

Can you talk about any exercise (or lack of) during your 40 pound weight loss?

I love to run, walk and hike, but I wasn’t or currently not on any “schedule.” I just have fun moving when I have time it feel like it.

Hi Tia. Love your videos, they are very informative. I'm not sure if you did this before but I would like to ask you if you could do a Q&A. Did you heal any condition? Celulitis and or lose skin after weight loss? Age and hight.... I know we're all different but it could help. Thanks! (is this how you spell you name?)

Hi there. I have two videos where I address healing my health issues. I didn’t really have any lose skin...a little on my stomach I discovered after dropping the 50LBS...that’s from when I was pregnant, but that’s not a lot so not sure I could do a video on it. I’m 40 and 5’5”

What is your daily water intake? That’s a big problem staying consistent on my water !!! ❤️

    • @HealthyVeganMama
      @HealthyVeganMama  4 года назад +1

I don’t measure it really. I just make sure I’m hydrated and I monitor that by clear urine or super pale yellow, like straw (sorry tmi 😜). In the mornings I take a 32 ounce mason jar, fill it up. Once I’m out I fill it again. I just drink when I’m thirsty (and I only drink water to quench my thirst), but I would say I’m probably drinking close to 3 a day maybe. Now, if I’m running or hiking I’m drinking more for sure. Hope that helps.

There is nothing wrong with oil. Healthy fats are needed in all diets, especially vegan ones.

As a nutritionist I would advise maybe taking a closer look at the studies. It May be helpful to you. Healthy fats are an essential part of a healthy diet, but when it’s from a whole plant food, not from highly processed extracted liquid fat with zero nutrients... oil. Best of luck to you 🌱
