Mission 64 "Vercingetorix ~ Final Deathstination" (5☆)
** WILL CONTAIN FULL SPOILERS!! **
** WAIT FOR HD QUALITY!! **
Wow, being underpowered sucks against the final mission... the gameplay is a little different since I lack the HP, survivability and damage against the boss compared to my JP counterpart where my Crystarium is maxed out.
That being said, I had to rely on more resistance gear to lower the damage from the boss.
Other noticeable differences between my EN vs JP versions:
- I used Vanille instead of Hope, Hope will NOT survive at all with his 14k HP (JP has 18k hp).
- Light is not developed into SYN enough to learn Haste.
- ATK/MAG stats is low
- Optima setting is different due to this circumstances as shown below...
[ Light / Vanille / Fang ]
[ RAV / RAV / COM ]
This is my Break setting, originally I used RAV/RAV/RAV on my stream but changed it because trying to get into Break Mode is too unpredictable due to the boss going into Shield Phase anytime. So letting Fang going COM to deal good damage is better while hoping for Light/Vanille to get to Break Mode.
[ COM / MED / COM ]
This is my offensive optima set when I don't think I can get to Break mode and need healing while needing much needed offensive damage.
[ MED / MED / SYN ]
Double healing while Fang buffs. Originally I would use "Enhancer/Healer/Enhancer" like my JP version if I had Light developed into the ENH/SYN, but in this gameplay I never farmed CP or grinded.. so its a pity.
[ SAB / SAB / SAB ]
Poison is a MUST no matter what.. aside from that, its all about dispeI from Fang and Vanille asap.
I wish could tell Fang to only cast Slow when debuffing, since Vanille and Light can throw the other debuffs... that would've helped a lot if Fang spammed Slow more since she is the only one that has the spell.
[ RAV / MED / SYN ]
This is my counter-optima against Vercingetorix breath attack which dispels my buffs. I get healed from Vanille while I build up the Chain bar for break mode and Fang recasts buffs (Haste is pretty much the most important).
[ SEN / SEN / SEN ]
Obviously my counter-optima against his super spinning attack which can instant kill me (whether by the attack itself or the falling damage). If SEN role level was developed further the damage would've decreased by a lot more too...
Aside from that, its all ATB-Cancel for Burst Healing if needed.
But yea, this was a challenge since my stats and damage is low.. but it was fun!
Ironically, boss died the same way as my JP version.. at the very end when HP trouble for my party, he dies to poison.
Thanks to all who watched my final FF13 live stream in seeing me figuring out how to solve my "underdeveloped" party to 5☆ the final mission!
All missions are now 5☆ and pretty much finished with the game!

Sadly most people who play this game never get to the really challenging bosses like this end game. These bosses show the true potential of how fun this battle system is. I really enjoyed this boss. I felt so bad ass after I beat it.
So true, the mission bosses are some of the most interesting and fun experiences, going for 5 stars on every mission was extremely fulfilling XD and seeing FF13 was my first FF game I fell in love with the battle system!

I platinum'd this game years ago on the PS3 and watching it again now, I have no idea how this battle system worked or how hard this challenge was. I do remember grinding gold ingots or something off that giant tortoise though for Gil. Maybe I should have another go at it to experience it again. It is such a blur.

@@Topaz542 The combat can be a bit tricky if its your first time but it defo grows on you when you understand it, you can check out a guide if you are struggling. The story and the characters are superb really hope you enjoy that front and ofc the legendary music!
I just finished it for the first time. Played it like a month ago and played until I got kinda bored, around chapter 3. But then I picked it back up and oh boy it got me addicted. Now I'm working on 100%. Just need to max out crystarium and I'm done. Didn't expect this game to absorb me in this way, don't usually play single players this long (I'm at around 105 hours, but at least 10 are afk )

Say what you want about XIII, but the combat system was insane amount of fun (well, later on in the game).
As my first Final Fantasy game, this combat system is still my favorite! & I agree it was extremely fun later on in the game :)

Out of all the Final Fantasy games XIII had my favorite combat systems. So intense, fun, and quick. Kept you on your toes at times.

It's the most dynamic and active. So fun
The ending always make me wonder what vercingtorix would've turned into if it was allowed to evolve one more time.
The last bit was a really close call, I could barely see Lightnings HP! This is my last mission left to 5 star.

@kanetidus Use the poison and tank strategy. Have Vanille as the party leader and have the following paradigms:
Van/
sab/sab/sab
sab/med/med
sen/sen/sen
med/syn/med
Use poison 5 times right at the start with #1. If it doesn't stick, switch to #2 and cast it 5 more times. Once it sticks, switch to 3 and just wait until he goes into trance. Once in trance, buff up with #4. Before he comes out of trance, switch back to #1 then rinse and repeat until he dies and you 5-star. (Takes about 7-10mins).
I really like Lightings Army Of One it gives an adrenaline rush :p

Amazing. Just watching this again is refreshing. So chaotic, yet you had to keep your focus to kill Vercingetorix. People complain about the new battle system. I loved it! If you showed this video to a friend who hasn't played this game, they wouldn't know what the fuck is going on cause so much is going on all at once. This is what made this battle system truly remarkable. cut-throat, strategic, fast, relentless. 5 star this battle and you pretty much feel like a god.
MasterLL, thank you for this. Ultimately, this game really does come down to the right paradigms. I was using the ones suggested in the strategy guide, which turned out to be complete shit. However, your paradigms and equipment made this fight sickeningly easy to beat and 5-star. The only difference I had were mastered versions of all General Belts and Royal Armlets, and a lvl. 39 Physician's Staff. Regardless, this video is what what helped me beat the final mission - thank you, my friend.

Yomi and Raspatil were the hardest things in FFXIII-2 for me, I spent about 3-4 hours in each one, can't imagine fighting Vercingeotorix, it must be impossible...
@@D3K018 raspatil is a piece of shit lol one of the easiest boss of the game yomi is so much harder and he have 1/3 of the healt of raspatil
It becomes dangerous when it grows 6-8 wings, so if you haven't already beaten it yet, (but you probably did already) make sure EVERYONE KNOWS TORTOISE, have Vanille as your lead character and POISION it to death. As soon as it pops up in the air and spread it's wings, immediately switch to tortoise (you have like only two seconds to do this) cuz its gonna do some freaky kind of spin attack that can instantly kill your party. You get a nice prize after you beat it. Good luck.
@ThatDudeWithAPc he was definitely not involved in Rome's decay. He was a Gallic mercenary-warlord who was summoned on several occasions by helpless tribes to help defend against caesar's advancing armies. vercingetorix lived in around 50-0 BC. the start of Rome's decay occurred in 400-something AD
@SpBayleefTamer Ultima weapon isn't Lightning's final weapon. It's her close second though. Her true final weapon is Omega Weapon, and that's what I'm shooting for. In case you don't know, any character's final weapon, in addition to ATB +1, carries over the traits of the weapons before it. For example, if you build up a weapon that has Stagger Lock, that carries over to the T3 weapon. It's just really what you want your characters to do. I'm still playing through the game, myself.
My Crystarium wasn't maxed out xD I like lowered his health to 4 million then used poison and gestalt .... Then i was about to die and used elixir and gestalt xD now 3 trophies remaining ^^

I remember beating this mission on my 360. Took 30 fucking minutes and was well worth it. I'm playing X right now on my PS4. Might get XIII again it was really a masterpiece of a game. XV was garbage.

Well done, but kinda reckless at the end - Lightning was on less than 100 HP twice by my count. Would've been awful to lose so close to the end.

I didn't care for FFXIII as much as any other FF, and I wasn't fan of the battle system either. But this fight really pushed your knowledge of the battle system to the limit, and damn if it wasn't one of the most exciting fights in the entire series.
It was definitely an essential to know the combat system inside and out to beat this battle with 5 stars :)

I have to agree with you. This game has a great storyline but one ridiculously hard battle system for someone who's into the old school battle style. FFXII was where I had to draw the lines with where I'm comfortable with battling. But it is fun watching the battles when someone else knows how to do it.
Imagine what would the next thing he turns to be like if Lightning didn't kill him in the end...
I'm waiting for the day Square Enix remasters all three games; 13, 13-2, and Lightning Returns into one $60 package. I'll be more than happy to give them my money.

Thank you so much, bro. Great video. I used this setup even though I had everything maxed, and beat him in 8:52. Definitely a perfect strategy for any level.
I prefer Fang Vanille Hope or Snow Vanille Hope. Vanille and Hope ensure that you always are topped up with hp because of double curaja. Snow is only there because of Umbra reducing damage to other characters in the Sen/Med/Med. Fang allows for faster debuffing though

Very fun boss battle. For someone looking for a challenge, you can try this challenge. Fight him without having any of the same roles in a single paradigm, and every character has to have all 6 roles in the paradigm set, but no character can have a role repeated. I did that and it was very fun and very challenging.
Let's up the ante. No crystarium side nodes allowed and no weapon upgrades.

@Falconpunch82 He may not have been an emperor by what makes one earn such a title, but he proclaimed himself "imperator", he eventually disbanded the senate, and conquered half of Europe and the known world before that, and every roman leader after him was called "imperator" meaning in Latin "Emperor" so I think dictator or not he was actually some kind of Emperor... after he crossed the Rubicon river there was no one to challenge him, until they assassinated him.

Good job.. You've given me better hope that I can do this. My characters are around the same progression that yours are(nowhere near maxing Crystarium for all roles). This is the only mark I don't have 5 stars on. I'd love to finish this guy and put the game to bed.

dude i love you man i followed every las move you made except when he decided to heal early and stuff but this really came in handy and even with my high class characters i still only beat it in 9:08 which was barely ahead of you and your lower ranked characters but anyway thanks again man : )
For me the combat system in this game was pure philosophy. Lool
1. Yes, Army of One does raise the chain gauge. 2. Yes to that also. 3. Sadly, no to that. The length of stagger is effected by how fast you got your enemy into stagger state. Your welcome :)

@Crealtos @Crealtos I know. They should of enhanced the Paradigm Shift. for Example,
Com - They huddle close and attack the enemy in gangs
Rav - They spread out and attack the enemy from afar
Med - They spread out and heal the party from afar
Sen - They spread out and distract the enemy
Syn - They huddle close and defend the party
Sab - They huddle close and weaken the enemy

One of the few foes that actually heals itself, and in a very annoying way too.
8:57 - Your leader stands with 74 HP! God God was that ever a risky move. But it looks like it payed off.
It doesn't immediately end a Stagger either. Weapons that come with Stagger Lock come with a Passive Ability known as Random: Instant Chain. This is the reason you want to use them. If you equip a Stagger Lock Weapon and an Accessory like the Survivalist Catalog, you get that ability.
Random: Instant Chain allows you to auto-Stagger an enemy with a hit. The chance is 0.5 percent but is easily exploited. They are worth the effort in some areas, but I'm not certain if that can help here.
Outstanding battle system. Would have loved a large open world to roam in; it existed in FF1-9; changed at FFX, which was also mostly a very long branching corridor. FF12 was a very long set of corridors linked in a spiderweb style fashion. The story for FF13 reminded me very much of Xenogears (although Xenogears had more interesting characters and a better story than FFXIII, in my opinion). FFXIII characters were very trope-ish. Cool collected no-nonsense ex-soldier Lightning; externally confident, internally doubts himself heart of gold Snow; happy go lucky externally ditzy, internally sad and resigned Vanille; greenhorn early-on, but grows throughout the game Hope; also lonely, does not want to lose her "family" Fang; and the pilot, a normal guy thrown into abnormal situations Sahz.
What's wrong with having tropeish characters? Then again, I've never cared for story or characters much in games. I'm a man of gameplay and music. And this game delivered on those fronts so I really enjoyed it.
And also, I didn't even like the characters at the start. But by the end, they grew on me enough to feel very satisfied by the last cutscenes of the gang together
@bensuiker I'm assuming you have the game when I explain this: For more advanced opponents waiting for the ATB Gauge to fill up for your Medics will often risk your Cure/Cura/Curaja's to be too late for your teammates. To solve this problem, instead of waiting for the ATB to fill to its max, you can press O/B to cancel the ATB-fill and to perform the already filled actions. Doing this makes for a much quicker heal especially when Vercinegetorix can wipe out most of your chars in one blow.
Nvm, beat him :).Used Snow/Sazh/Vanille with: Tortoise: (sen/sen/sen) Hero's Charge: (com/syn/med) Tri-Disaster: (rav/rav/rav) Tireless Charge: (com/com/med) Cerberus (com/com/com) Infiltration: (sab/sab/sab) and about 20 potions. I start off with HC and wait for Sazh to use haste on all party members.Then I use slow 6 times and its usually on by then.Then stagger with Tri-Disaster and switch to either Tireless Charge or Cerberus (depending on hp).Cant say more cause this comments too long -.-

@AdamantPonyGuy using 3 sentinels gives the party a massive defense boost. The boost works automatically so you don't have to guard for it to work.
I started playing this game in 2012 on the ps3, had to change, but I made it to this guy in that game. Had to stop playing, but now I'm playing it on xbox, and I'm back on this guy. Tried most things and I just could not beat it. After I watched this video, I changed my paradigms around (used hope instead of Vanille) and beat it the first time, with five stars. all because of this video!!
to those people having difficulty in this battle try inflicting poison then just go to tortoise sen/sen/sen and mediguard will recover some hp, the poison itself will kill him just equip your weakest weapon and change those str/mag accesory so the target time aint that low. buff when haste is gone and heal if needed

I forgot to mention that Snow is actually the only party member that has the fastest attack animation for COM/RAV. Also since he learns Daze/ga from SAB, he makes a decent SAB for taking down Adamantoises.
Out of the entire FFXIII game this battle was one of the most enjoyable. I felt like I was holding my breath through the entire battle XD One of the most relieving feelings when I finally beat this mission. and thank you Master for the video!! ^~^

@TheOblivionesss I use Hecatoncheir when I was still weak to fight the Adamantoises. But when I leveled them high enough Lightning, Hope and Fang make my best Adamantoise killer squad.
My setup was this:

Might've relied too much on Medic and not enough on Sentinel, but then again, it is from years ago.
Ok so, what would you reccomend for me to get to this point? I understand that the growth egg will help to make cp grinding faster, however... I would still need to grind alot to beat mission 55... or pretty much anything beyond even mission... 14? lol
I want to be able to beat all the missions... but Im not sure where to get the gil for the right equipment or were to find all that cp, or what weapons to use...

@MNIMAB Actually, if you watch carefully, his stats aren't that high. He's just maxed out the three original roles for each character and a fourth one...
@midnafan132 to beat mission 55 just have vanille spam death on neochu if ur under-lvled. for money dig around with chocobos to find gold nuggets or do the bhatki sidequest in oerba to get 3 platinum ingots that sell for 150,000 each, and make sure you've beaten the last boss so you can unlock tier 5 crystarium.
@SpBayleefTamer If you mean the Ci'eth stone missions, yes. You don't get access to them until you get to Pulse.

@IIRedReignII Sorry, the characters you use can pretty much be anybody who can dispel as a sab and someone who can haste, (not neccessary, but it REALLY REALLY HELPS) but it's probably best if you go with:
Van/Fang/Snow.
You want Vanille as the leader so you can cast poison right off the bat 5 times every time. Also, you can equip the belladonna wand for better chance of it sticking. With no stat boost and T1Lv1 weapons my target time was ~17mins. I finished in ~10:30 for a 5-star.
Long Gui and Vercingetorix combined have NOTHING on Yiazmat. Just saying.

Yiazmat was piss easy, the only reason that boss was so difficult to fight was because of its HP.
WynterRayn19 Yeah that's true, but if Long Gui and Vercingetorix were to get into the battle arena vs. Yiazmat they'd be screwed. Especially the Long Gui which is insanely slow to attack.
cameraREDeye I dont think so, the Long Gui can use Ultima which can probably kill Yiazmat in one hit and Vercingetorix's Wicked Whirl deals multiple heavy damage.
WynterRayn19 Lol I'd like to see Long Gui even TRY to deal 50,000,000+ damage with one Ultima spell... xD
Vercingetorix, though, might pose a threat with Wicked Whirl - but if it's a wind-style attack (which it probably is) then Yiazmat automatically negates half the damage. Which is still over 10,000 damage per attack.
Jdx Omega Except for Death Strike which can instakill the party leader for a cheap "game over." For that reason, you better equip 3 maxed out Seraph's Crowns, and even then you _still_ have that annoying instant KO chance with each of Yiazmat's normal attacks.
The one FF13 boss that I can see owning Yiazmat (easily) is - believe it or not - Orphan. 2 hits from his Merciless Judgment would drop Yiazmat's 50.1M HP down to just 5000 or so (assuming each use of MJ erases 99% of Yiazmat's HP). Which can be wiped in one or two more hits from Orphan's attacks. Yiazmat's only hope of victory against him is Death Strike, and I think Orphan is immune to instakilling moves anyway, so Orphan >>> Yiazmat.
In fact Orphan would effortlessly pwn all other FF bosses if he were thrown into the ring against all of them. One hit from Merciless Judgment leaves those bosses open to getting oneshotted by Orphan since MJ does damage equal to 99% of each target's current HP (which CAN be mitigated by buffs like Protect and Shell).
After completing the Attacus fight in Titans Trials and all other Undying Cieth.
Go to Oreba and go all the way to where you fight Bartandalus there will be a cieth stone there.activate it and go the the Yaschas Massif where the crushed buildings are.
There will be higher level cieth now that you activated mission 64 and the area is surrounded in a purple-ish mist.
Have most of your Roles mastered(especially Sentinel and Synergist and Commando).
Have good equipment.
Yes, with Stagger Lock, the character can only bring the enemy to the Stagger Threshold. It helps you keep the enemy there, but someone else without Stagger Lock has to land a blow in order for the enemy to actually Stagger. Though, it's been a week so you probably know this by now.
Nail-biter there near the end!!! Good job!
Basically the % effects all damage. Staggering the enemy only mass boosts it up a bit. So if you are at 856% Chain bonus, you deal 8.56 times normal damage.

@jayceejaisen14 He used a Save Editor to get his HP that high. You can find videos on how to get them and use them here on youtube. There are also settings on there that you can make your strength and magic as high as you want but doing this will lower all target times so if you are going for a 5 star, it isn't recommended that you change any strength or magic values.

You queue/select skills from the Abilities Menu. Then after one ATB gauge later, you can repeat the action by pressing right on the Directional Pad or Analog Stick when you highlight abilities in your battle menu.

@XYnocha He imperilled him which is the only status ailment that alters the libra-description page and yes he can be slowed seems to take longer though...

@fatarion Julius Caesar was never an emporer or a king, as most people think. He was only ever a statesman, a general, and finally, a dictator. Also he wasn't quite the "leader". Such a term would be much too vague.

@Sevvy413 heh heh poison is the sap of ff13. its one of the best debuffs in the game. it gradually depletes the health of the enemy while in effect. To make things better poison causes a fixed amount of damage to the target making it useful against enemies with alot of health. thats why it shines when used against superbosses like the long gui and vercingetorix.
@Majik518 He has a video for almost every mission in his Japanese playthrough of the game. Type in FFXIII Mission (mission#) JP and you'll probably find it

It's hard to lose to this boss. For a real challenge, you have to put some limitations on your paradigm set up, like every character needs to have 1 of each role in the paradigm deck, or they only use their first 3 roles. Then that's a real challenge.

I'll maxed in main roles and lvl 3 in SEN role for Lighting, Fang was lvl 3 in SYN, and Vanille was balanced out in both SEN and SYN roles (she best used to heal instead of fighting in this case so give her the weapon that improves cures). Also each off them had average of 30% or higher physical and magic resistance.
Does a higher SEN level reduce considerably more damage? Because I have SEN level 2 and it still deals good damage to me and I was thinking to train more so I have the 3 memembers' SEN level at 5, but I didn't know if it was worth it.

Since I don't have SAB on Lightning i'm using Vanille to spam Poison but she doesn´t have SEN yet. (let these two for last). And i tried this some times but Vanille won't survive the attack at 4:32. Anything I could do? (except go grind for exp which I'll need to do if i don't have any option
