@piano0b Smart use of multi-classing. He gave Lightning Saboteur as well which isn't one of her initiate roles and used that to weaken him along with Vanille Sab and Sahz Syn for buffing, the difference created gives a nice advantage. Upgraded weapons by the looks of it 'cause it looks to me that Vanille is wielding the Marlboro Wand (upgraded version of the Belladonna Wand). Correct me if I'm wrong. Also smart use of the right accessories can really help.
Yes, that is the Malboro Wand on Vanille😊 I have it on her as well, lvl 18, and it's pretty distinctive by the purple base and golden knobs😂 The video is also showing me I'm not the only one sticking with the Axis Blade on Light👀 Probably the best you'll get until Lionheart, unless you don't mind Hauteclaire's Stagger Lock😂😂
Yeah, I was thinking that as well😅 Then I remembered that even though he only saw the real Serah for a short bit, it was when she was turning to crystal. Sazh was probably thinking how she should've still been asleep, as it had only been maybe a few days since then, whereas the stasis is supposed to last about 500+ years. Snow and Lightning, they have a close connection with her, so it makes sense they don't think that as first. Vanille? Kinda close but mainly shocked. Hope and Fang? They don't know her at all so they just kinda watch😂
This and the third battle with Super pope were a major disappointment compared to the awesome first battle with him, the third battle even more so. The first battle was just made of all kinds of awesome and was definitely the most challenging of the three by far, though I have to admit, i9t was satisfying to finally shut this stupid fal'cie up. Fight your fate l'cie, kick its ass. Final Fantasy XIII is awesome, who is with me on that one?
@@frjoethesecond I played through the whole game and I hate it. I did like the combat and optimizing - save for the poorly thought-out upgrading system.
@@SirMoFoDans4 That's fair enough. My point still stands though because the majority of people who hate on it didn't give it anywhere near as much of a chance as you did.
Tne transition from cutscene to boss fights are seamless in this game! I love it whenever they do that! And I'm glad another player uses my favorite team in boss fight. Been replaying XIII and still enjoy this team. 😊
Funny thing, those first few lines that Serah says all the way to "O Piteous Wanderer" are the lyrics to this boss's theme Fighting Fate. They say them in Latin, XP But it's fun to sing in Latin and he's my favorite boss fights in this game, XD
It took me 3 playthroughs to understand what Barthandelus says. The very first time, I was like "What the hell are you talking about?!? My brain hurts!"
This fight took me 3 hours when I was a kid. Got right to the end where he has like 10%hp left and he casts doom on the main party member… somehow killed him with like 80 seconds left.
For some reason, this was my most difficult fight with Barthandelus. It only took me two tries on Chapter 9, but this one got me so bad and I have no clue why.
This was MUCH more difficult than the last boss. But the last boss is hard....but Barthandelus was difficult in this form and it took me a while to beat him.
Ugh... This boss is where I'm stuck right now... Went back to Taejin's Tower to CP grind off those robots on the Fifth Tier. 8000 CP for an extremely easy battle. Haven't actually gone back to fight Barthandelus again yet.
@HollowAkeno That happened to me when I fought him the first time. He didn't use doom and I was so close to beating him, but he killed me anyways, lol. Then when I tried again, I thought for sure I would get doom, but I didn't. Thank god, lol
All right for those who keep saying about Sazh shooting the bird... can't you all think maybe... Just maybe? the bird has a FREAKING SHIELD LIKE DYSLEY WHEN SNOW TRIED TO ATTACK HIM?
Man I SO have to thank you for that tutorial. Took me 6 times before I find the right strategy (with a max of debuff) and another 5 until I defeat him but finally I got over that bastard! thanks again!
You know Master I finally understand why Vanille and Fang have Australian accents. Gran Pulse is a Death World and is Down Under Cocoon. Australia is a a Death World and is down under.
Ahhh now i know why i put the game down and never finished it years ago. I just recently bought it again thinking i never beat this game. Low and behold i got to this boss and remembered this was why. Sucks
@piano0b Congrats. Yeah it is, isn't it. Kinda like in FFX (Braska's Aeon was a lot harder than Yu Yevon himself which was actually foolproof). But It's also intended that way I think. Because in the 2nd fight Orphan is supported by Barthandelus and the image of Lindzei (before completely awakening) while going solo in the 3rd. Also Orphan was literally born to die. So once truly awakened (3rd) he shouldn't be that much of an opposition since he wanted/was destined to die.
The only issue a lot of people have is not knowing that it doesn't take damage until it's staggered, so they keep going back thinking they need to level up more😅 Even though truth is, you could probably beat him semi-easily with the crystarium expansion from Barthandelus only half complete and not getting the side roles😂
@MXLDisturbed when you enter a house in oerba, you'll go through a cutscene where vanille finds her old toy. find the 5 parts to repair it and you get 500k gil
Ok I do have to ask... how is everyone hasted at the beginnning of the fight.... I know there is an item for it... but where do you get it? Plus i'm so terrible at the missions, I doubt ill ever be able to beat them all...
In the first encounter My team consisted of: Lightning Sazh Hope COM/SYN/SYN RAV/RAV/RAV COM/COM/MED COM/MED/SYN COM/SYN/COM. I beat him after 1 hour been facing this boss since yesterday.
frylock2314 If you still haven't figured it out in 8 years: First of all, do a lot of Cieth missions to level up and upgrade your weapons. You're not expected to just walk in and kill this boss with any party like you did in the first half of the game. He's a gatekeeper to the even harder chapter 12. Even with a party that can faceroll this boss, the encounters in CH 12 can be quite cruel. Use Lightning Sazh Vanille. Start with Med Syn Sab. Open with Libra, get buffs and debuffs up, then swap to Rav Com Rav to stagger him and shred his metal ass. After thanatosian laughter, switch to Med Syn Med for recovery. Have a Doctor's Code on your party leader and spam potions when you need to while you are on the offensive. If you have issues with being one shot by stuff, you need to level up, there is no way around it. He hits like a truck but isn't supposed to one shot.
i tried a few times on this boss but just wasnt strong enough,so what i had to do was teleport back to the stepplands ..do more missions and kill beast for points to build myself up abit more, colected like 80k points and tried again and went smooth, no doom timer
This boss fight is a joke if you execute the right strategy. If you start with Shrouds you save a bunch of time buffing up at the start and just need to debuff him. Ruthless works well for this in my opinion. You can then to Relentless or Diversity to drive up his stagger bar. Once he's staggered just get his bar up to 999% with Ravager domination. After that, switch to Aggression or just stay in Relentless and do as much as you can. No chance of doom if you do tons of damage early.
I always like to think Barthandelus takes things too far as looking like Sarah. Like detective Harris from South Park acting as a prostitute. Like he goes through with the wedding with Snow, has kids, and just goes "And the result of that is THIS" way after the fact.
I love the instant transition from cutscene to battle.
I love the one from the Havoc Skytank battle
Me too
Same. That was so seamless. 😊
i love when there's a seamless transition from cutscene to battle mode. i was honestly expecting/hoping the entire game would be like that.
Fun fact: In Japan, Lightning's name was Eclair, which is french for Lightning. Claire just means Light. Either way, it's pretty cool
Well shes french, Claire Farron is a french name and at the end of FF13 serie shes in a french country
....Did you just respond to a comment I made over 8 years ago?
@@zingodoom damn, too much history. Also i know that fact but you confirmed to me. Thanks
@@zingodoom Hey at least you're alive
Holy necro Batman!
His multiple faces sing his own boss battle theme lol
WOW!!
That's the best part
That fucking bird gives him powers.
SAZH - YOU HAVE THE GUN.
SHOOT THE FUCKING BIRD!!
The bird gave me chills
I just love the battle system from FF13! Its gorgeous!
Loved how Snow hugged a fal'cie
L
Lmao
RIP Snow, the gullible tank😂
the stuff "serah" was saying in the beginning of this scene are the english lyrics to barthandelus's theme song
This guy gave snow a long ass hug before changing back to primarch then a fal cie so does he like snow?
he was gonna fuck snow too before he realized it was Dysley
Snow is gay
Serah is mine 😂

Cool gameplay

@MasterLL wow dude i respect you for putting so much effort into your characters
The story and the battle of Barthandelus are so epic that they give me goose bumps.
Everytime that Barthandelus appears
Snow: *attempts to punch Barthandelus*
Barthandelus: *magic shield*

For some reason, this was my most difficult fight with Barthandelus. It only took me two tries on Chapter 9, but this one got me so bad and I have no clue why.
Probally because of the Debuff Build Barthandelus use on this battle.
First: Elemental Attacks
Second: Debuffs and Immobilize
Third: Raw High Damage.
This was MUCH more difficult than the last boss. But the last boss is hard....but Barthandelus was difficult in this form and it took me a while to beat him.

@NarutoChic He's using the 'God Player' Paradigm, spamming the Haxor skill.
The esthetism is magnificent
Ah yes the boss that stopped me from progressing in the game as a child
actually barthandelus does not seek power, they only seek to destroy cocoon, so the fal'cie race can be reborn. They wanted to call Bhunivelze
You know Master I finally understand why Vanille and Fang have Australian accents.
Gran Pulse is a Death World and is Down Under Cocoon.
Australia is a a Death World and is down under.
@Arielpillow Barthandelus... Because of his awesome dialog that we'll never understand entirely!
This theme reminds me of star wars.
I don't know why but Serah's voice sounds really familiar.
lighting real name is......CLAIRE!
In Japan her real name is éclair which translates to lightning in french.
