  • I documented the first 100 days of yoga transformation so I can show myself how far I have come along whenever I feel like quitting. Starting something new can be a daunting step to take. After 6 years of having zero physical exercise I decided to start practicing yoga again like I have always wanted to.
If you ever ask the question, how do I start exercising? Or how do I start doing something new? Or more importantly, how do I overcome the fear of starting something outside of my comfort zone? I hope this video would help add a little steam to your boat towards your dream state of being.
The video followed for my practice by‪@larugayoga‬ : • Guided Ashtanga Half P...

When I was younger I never had a problem with starting. Being consistent and finishing however, was a different story. I made a list of all the thing I haven't completed and working on them. It feels amazing and actually quite addictive.

I just started crying half way through this...I have a 8-month old, I used to be so fit and do yoga every day. I feel so weak now, exhausted every second...I find it hard to imagine getting back into a fitness routine. It was so helpful for my mental health disorder. You're video reminded me of that feeling of starting out and also gave me some hope that no matter how long it takes, I can always get back into it. thank you

This is such a powerful statement: "Being free of self-judgment made this thing a whole lot easier, and a lot more enjoyable as well." Thank you for making this video and sharing it with us. It's very inspiring and makes me want to give yoga another go. I always gave up too soon (too difficult, too stiff, can't do this, and all that BS that I catch myself saying all day). It's time to just start doing a routine and not beat myself up about it because it's not perfect. Rome wasn't built in a day. I'm going for 1% improvement at a time and enjoying the journey instead of focusing on only the destination. 🙏

It's very important that you start with asanas and videos for beginners that you can do. With a slow practice the joy comes from itself and with every move it can be the best thing. Wish you all the best! 😊

Love your comment. The key is in enjoying the process. Forget about how we do compared to others, or even compared to when we were younger and fitter. Just have fun! When you have fun and keep going, improvement is a natural by-product. This applies to everything and not just yoga. Hope you're having alot of fun in everything you do :)

"Being free of self-judgment made this thing a whole lot easier, and a lot more enjoyable as well." That part hit me really hard... I am always expecting perfection and great results of everything I do, you could say that I am not really nice with myself most of the time and is something that I need to fix ASAP

It’s so inspiring to see that you have progressed alone in ashtanga yoga, one of the most difficult styles of yoga. So I think that you are so brave girl!

I'm learning that nonjudgment, a fous on the current action rather than the outcome, and alignment with my highest self are keys to self-improvement and discipline. I'm learning to ground myself in these values as I navigate my own fitness journey and efforts to pick up new hobbies/skills.

Hi! I stumbled on your video last night and it really spoke to me. I used to love yoga, though I never managed to hold a daily practice for very long, but still, I always came back to it and enjoyed it so much. But like you, having kids brought an end to many elements of my previous life and when I needed yoga most I stopped practising. Your message is so motivating because I share your inhibitions about getting back to yoga, and I really appreciate you showing how hard it was yet you continued. One thing that differs is I realised I have not been visualising my ideal self any more, even in my fantasies I stopped seeing myself as fit, strong, motivated, disciplined, and the kind of person who prioritises what is good and right for them and believes in themself. Ouch! Anyway, that was the most powerful take away for me and something I am going to consciously work on now. So, THANK YOU for this video and for sharing, you have really struck a chord with me and I’m very grateful for that wake-up call. 😊
P.S. I got up early this morning to do yoga

With the shame we feel in the way we look, I would say I’m the moment at least your trying and others may look up to you just for doing the yoga and may feel inspired so I’m your mind you may feel one way but you’re inspiring others around you subconsciously or not too! Also the feeling like you said with it should be the reason you get back on the mat. Once you start it really does feel so good! This is so inspiring and relatable, love it!

Went back to yoga just a month ago and was finally feeling confident enough to try something that was intimidating me for a while now. I did Laruga's Ashtanga video today and was wobbling, pausing and catching my breath while watching the poses I can't do right now. How you looked when you started was me this afternoon. I felt energized and inspired but a part of me was frustrated with myself for not pushing harder, for stopping and whining at certain points in the video. What you shared on this video a year ago was exactly what I needed to hear right in this moment. I remembered that I showed up today on my mat and I can show up again tomorrow and the day after, and the day after. That's what matters. Thank you for sharing your journey. 💜

I absolutely love this video. Thank you so much for sharing this inspiring journey.
In the beginning it was hard to watch for me because I thought you were being pretty harsh on youself. Then I realised I speak to myself the same way. Your reasons are my reasons. That's why it resonated so much and touched me deeply. I just wanted to hug you and tell you: Girl, you got this! You can do it! I'm rooting for you! And now I understand that is what I need to tell myself! Thank you so much for this deep leason in self love and inspiring me to start on my own journey.
Lots of love to you and a happy and healthy journey that is life.

Isn't it crazy how hard we are on ourselves? When I realized how much I was doing that and how damaging that was it was when I found the courage to start practicing yoga again. It sounds contrary to everything we've been taught growing up, but self-motivation actually comes from self-acceptance, not self-judgment. May we continue find solidarity and warmth on our healing journeys.

This was so insightful and beautiful. It really hit home in a lot of ways for me. I’ve had this vision of myself for the majority of my life that I haven’t been actualizing because I’m not the dancer I used to be, or I have old car accident junk. But I know that if I just showed up and practiced consistently, a lot of my chronic pain would probably dissipate.
One of the biggest challenges I have is breaking all the way through to the other side without self-sabotaging. I beat myself down before I’ve truly begun and then I beat myself up for quitting. It’s become a viscous cycle that I know I’m going to have to overcome if I want real progress in my life.
So thank you for the reminders of the little things and that half the practice really is just showing up for yourself. Also, thank you for your candor.
I wish you lots of success with your RUclips channel. You have a new subscriber here. ❤️

I am so happy to know that this video helped in some way. We are our harshest critics. I suffered a lot from self-judgment and self-sabotage in many areas of life. Looking back I hurt myself and people closest to me. But life is a school and we are here to learn. We are all fellow students and we can always share notes with each other. And this is what this channel is about!
Your comment gives me the fuel to keep sharing openly and honestly about the Work I do with my struggles. I wish you lots of love, gentleness, and appreciation for the self you find in each moment. We are all here with you on this journey. We got this!

Thank you for this portion of inspiration! I just started to do yoga, finding out what is it and your video shows in recommendation`s RUclips in time! Sometimes I think that looks so clumsy, feel awkward and decided to stop my yoga sessions, but keep im mind one phrase - just keep gong. It helps a lot! On April 10th I will have a small anniversary - 100 days of yoga! Thanks a lot!!

I am 52 yrs old and just starting my self love practice. These tips are so helpful.
My mission for this year is to get strong and confident. And always to be healthy and fit. But now I am focusing more on the self love, confidence and strength.
I enjoy yoga. You inspire me to do more because uts like you said, showing up is half the battle, after you do it you feel more energized. It's also like active relaxation, sometimes challenging.
Thank you for posting this journey of yours.
You got so strong in 3 months. 🙏

Hi Yvette, your comment as hit the nail on the head! This is not a video about yoga, but a video about self love. And self love is a lesson we all need to learn regardless of our age. Only when we truly love ourselves can we take full responsibility for ourselves and our actions. Let's change the world together by loving ourselves more. Thank you.

Your progress in such a short time is impressive!

Thank you. I was in a very unique time of my life, where I left my 2 young kids to go home overseas to care for my sick mother. I had less distraction and thus able to practice very consistently. Now that I’m back home with my children I definitely haven’t been able to practice as consistently. So kudos to you for practicing daily while caring for a toddler! You’re doing amazingly!
