Thank you for this. Black was one of my father's favorite songs, and recently he passed away due to corona virus infection. I only wish he could hear this masterpiece
It starts out... the music. That single note on the piano. And that voice. My GOD that voice... from another time. And then the rest of the instruments. And at first you think "okay, this is an interesting rendition" and lift a single eyebrow as it continues. Intriguing. By the start of the chorus you're invested. Okay, I'll bite. What gives? The cymbal taps and the strings, and that heavenly voice. And as Cortine grabs you and won't let go for the end of the first round of the chorus and the hint of power is gone in a rush for the quiet of the bass and piano note plunks. And then the angel comes back. Walks next to you. It's okay now. Walk with me? Oh wait... twisted thoughts that spin.. round my head? What is this? This... maelstrom of emotion... where are we going?! Again?! My heart! And it builds. And builds. The vibrato. The love gone bad! Tattooed all I see! All that I ammmm.... and quiet again. Doo-doo-doot-dooo, dooo-doot dooo.... wait. Here we go again! A star... in somebody else's sky! WHY?! WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME?! And suddenly it's all over... standing alone again on the beach of life while the roiling emotion of ocean retreats once again. Thank you PMJ and Cortnie for the ride. Absolutely exquisite.

Untouched sheets of clay
Were laid spread out before me
As her body once did

Revolved around her soul
As the earth to the sun
Now the air I tasted and breathed
Has taken a turn
Oh, and all I taught her was everything
Oh, I know she gave me all that she wore
And now my bitter hands
Chafe beneath the clouds
Of what was everything
Oh, the pictures have
All been washed in black
Tattooed everything
I take a walk outside
I'm surrounded by some kids at play
I can feel their laughter
So, why do I sear?
Oh, and twisted thoughts that spin round my head
I'm spinning, oh, I'm spinning
How quick the sun can drop away?
And now my bitter hands
Cradle broken glass
Of what was everything
All the pictures have
All been washed in black
Tattooed everything
All the love gone bad
Turned my world to black
Tattooed all I see
All that I am
All that I'll be, yeah
I know someday you'll have a beautiful life
I know you'll be a star
In somebody else's sky, but why? Why? Why
Can't it be, oh, can't it be mine?

It almost seems like this is the song played as the credits roll at the end of a really sad movie where the protagonist loses everything and it was somehow all in vain.
Thank you PMJ... Please do more.
The emotion behind Cortnie's performance is ethereal in the best of ways, getting goosebumps is an understatement. This touches my soul like music usually does from Postmodern Jukebox.
WOW, that rendition of the song turned out far better than I was expecting and beautifully sung!

Absolutely fantastic version of a great song. Gives me chills.
Oh my god... i just close my eyes and slow my heart beat and breath each word, leaving me feeling each note and I totally immersed myself in this musical moment that I wished I would never end .... why!!! THANKS with all my heart Joaquim from Lisbon
I'm having an out-of-body experience; this is so good that my flesh can't hold me.
Best song. Pearl Jam 🐐
Her voice is so clear, and also I loved this new arrangement of the song :')
This is one of my all-time favorite Pearl Jam songs. Phenomenal rendition. It moved me to tears.
I've heard this song plenty over the years, but haven't *truly* heard this song until it came up randomly on my playlist today - the same day you guys post this beautiful cover.
The universe is an odd place. Keep it up fellas ♥️
from the first few seconds I fell in love with it... These almost six minutes are not enough.
Wow! What a cover! It gave me the chills listening to it!

First time I heard this song was during a rough spot in my life. back then I would've listen to it over and over again since it proved to be cathartic to me. Today while listening to this for the first time I closed my eyes and I was instantly got transported to that exact feeling of healing.
