I completely forgot that today was Friday and my day just got a whole lot better! I've been procrastinating from editing my songs, so now I'm gonna procrastinate more and watch this 😄
I didn't realise it was Friday the 13th til about a quarter past three! My friend called and started with: "D'you know what DAY IT IS???" "Lol, it's Friday 13th!" "Of what? Say it!" "It's Friday the 13th, 2020!" 😂 She had a truly awful day today! We had a good laugh over it though, and everything's gonna be ok.
But but but then it could be a Balthazar pickle and I would buy it for my boyfriend at least (Balthazar being Nic Cage's character from The Sorcerer's Apprentice iirc)
A traditional pinafore usually has pockets. The garment is, after all, utilitarian in nature. One nifty design feature has a side opening such that the left pocket conceals the opening. The pocket pouch is only sewn halfway up its outside edge and the remaining sides neatly turned and hemmed. As the waistband is opened, the pocket sides "gape" to allow enough room to get it on and then folds neatly back in on itself. Anything to avoid having to put in a zipper, plus it's more authentic! I learned this trick from a child's pattern, Simplicity 9282, but it can be made to work with any waist-banded skirt.
Ah Rachel, as you were making as many panels as you could I am shouting” Waist measurement!” More panels doesn’t just make more swoosh, it also makes room for turkey and stuffing.
Really loved the calf length dress, and such a change to see you wearing not brown!!! Altho, of course you do suit those autumnal colours, the blue is a terrific colour on you too😊💙🖤
*Rachel: Future self do this thing for me please.* *Future Rachel: Yah I'm not doing that* Laughing so hard!!!! 🤣🤣 Best INFP/Procrastination meme ever!!
I've literally tried for weeks to find a cute pinafore dress and have been unsuccessful. Well, you know what they say about when 'you need something done right!' xD Bless you, Rachel!
"It gets so dark now" - Me and all other Scandinavians : oh my sweet summer child ^^' Also Rachel complaining that sewing the pannels together takes forever. Me, having just finished hemming by hand my 6 meters wide calf-length coat : woman, you'll be fine. Else I have to say I love the interactions with Editing Rachel. Also this time I ADORE the fabrics you've bought ! Good taste, M'am, good taste.
9 year old me is screaming inside over the mismatched directional plaid. Once you've been taught to match patterns, anything off is like an itch you can't scratch. I will say though, this is one of the few none matching choices I can tell myself to chill over a argue that it's a design choice to have the front focal panel be different. I really appreciate that you're willing to share your journey learning to sew as an adult. My Mom was adamant that we learned, as well as things like basic plumbing home repairs and car maintenance, but I know most of the kids I grew up with didn't get half as much teaching on those formerly considered "basic life skills". Now most of those kids may have gotten better paying jobs right out of college, but this year has really turned the tables on the structure our system of valuing certain types of knowledge over others, and hopefully created opportunities to bring people together (through zoom calls! NOBODY GO TO IN PERSON GATHERINGS RIGHT NOW, PLEASE!).
I have to say Frodo is absolutely adorable and comes in 2nd in cuteness, after my dog of course. I like both of your pinafores turned out nice. I can't decide which one I like better.
👩🎨Rachel looks fabulous in both darling pinafores🌷. 💎The tea length is a beautiful sapphire jewel tone. It has amazing swoosh in the skirt too, but I do 🖤love🖤 the long tartan more. Dig how the pattern looks all sewn together. Simply mad about plaid! 😎
When you're making a symmetrical shape like the bib, fold the desired shape in half, and trace on the fold of your new fabric, that way both sides are even, then you can cut out the second piece
As a fashion design major everytime I see you changing patterns and altering what the parttern says my head goes "Oh boy...she shouldn't do that" but at the end it all fits and you look cute and my mind and heart feel happy! 😌💖
Was totally expecting the “children yelling YAY!!!” sound effect after she said “I am not going to make something brown”. 😂 JK, Hobbit Rachel, I’ll watch you make as many brown items as you want!
I am rewatching this as I'm making a pinafore out of my late grandfather's old flat sheet. I saw the sheet in my mom's pull-up barn, and asked if I could have it to make a dress out of because I really liked the plaid pattern. I have no pattern, vibes only. Lol
I think it's sweet you and Nick were wearing basically matching PJ pants during that photo shoot! The pattern was different but the color was the same, and I want to believe you bought them at the same time! Love the pinafores! I've loved watching you grow in your sewing skill and journey and seeing your confidence grow!
Rachel, you are such an inspiration to me💖 I'm definitely not a novice seamstress but I get so stuck doing similar projects because I'm good at them and they are instant gratification. Your complete fearlessness about pushing yourself to learn and try new stuff even if you aren't immediately great at it is *dramatic chefs kiss* magnificent. please keep making stuff and videos, it's been so lovely to see your new accomplishments

I am in LOVE with the blue one, oh gosh. Funnily enough, I've had that EXACT fabric in my stash for years. I've used bits of it here and there but I now wish I still had enough to make my own pinafore. A tip for fitting! Put the garment on inside out and pin the seams while it's on your body! (A buddy is helpful here if you got one.)
It’s always important to have mental health breaks, and I’m so glad you took the time to rest, but I can’t even say how excited I am that you uploaded. I missed my weekly dose of autumnal coziness😂

The pinafores are super cute. I don't know if you have any of the grey fabric left but maybe a tiny godet at the back surrounding the zipper would help to extend the shape and keep it from being too tight. Just an idea. @@josie1823 You can use anything, but I actually really like to buy the super cheap $2 shower curtains and use those. They're super sturdy and the clear is great for tracing!
I lived in a green pinafore when I was in school. People thought I was the weirdest but really it was so comfortable AND I had sewn it myself!😁👍🍻❤love to Frodo and Binx!
I am so sick and alone and I needed something to comfort me. THIS COMFORTS ME. Thank you Rachel for being you.
We all love you Abby Fletcher! Get well soon. Snuggle down and rest well.
💕
Aww I'm so glad 😭❤️❤️ HUGS!
❤️❤️❤️❤️ there’s a bunch of us thinking of you, and wishing you a swift and easy recovery. I’m glad you saw this video right when you needed it to make you smile, and I hope you see these comments.
I hope you feel better soon
The amount of balls it takes to sketch in pen... that’s a special kind of confidence 😂
Try a soft whistle sound or a soft click(make really sure it's a SOFT "click" sound)to keep his attention. I work at a SPCA animal shelter as a Veterinary Nurse. We use this trick to get cute pics to put on our website for adoptions. 👍🏻 Good luck sister-friend.
I completely forgot that today was Friday and my day just got a whole lot better! I've been procrastinating from editing my songs, so now I'm gonna procrastinate more and watch this 😄
Good luck editing !
@@margotchaput3070 thanks, im trying to make my first demo and its tough
I didn't realise it was Friday the 13th til about a quarter past three! My friend called and started with:
"D'you know what DAY IT IS???"
"Lol, it's Friday 13th!"
"Of what? Say it!"
"It's Friday the 13th, 2020!" 😂 She had a truly awful day today! We had a good laugh over it though, and everything's gonna be ok.
How dare you assume I wouldn't purchase a t-shirt with "Picolas Cage" on it 😂😂😂😂
Hahahaha TRUE I totally would as well
If it was "Picholas Mage" it would be a Gandalf persona Pickle...it just wouldn't sell...🥺🧙♂️
But but but then it could be a Balthazar pickle and I would buy it for my boyfriend at least (Balthazar being Nic Cage's character from The Sorcerer's Apprentice iirc)
Making clothes for when i move to a cottage in the forest with my cats
Life goals. 😂

Is there a rules about pinafores not having pockets cause neither of these pinafores had pockets Rachel
I never use pockets so I never put them in my clothing. If she doesn’t use them either then there’s no point in putting them in
Yeah, Rachel where them pockets???
Ah Rachel, as you were making as many panels as you could I am shouting” Waist measurement!” More panels doesn’t just make more swoosh, it also makes room for turkey and stuffing.
WHAT?! *Un-brown* pinafores?! But how am I supposed to match my toast aesthetic?! 😂😂
😂😂🙏🙏🙏❤️
YES! What gives?? 😋
Really loved the calf length dress, and such a change to see you wearing not brown!!! Altho, of course you do suit those autumnal colours, the blue is a terrific colour on you too😊💙🖤
Heehee thank you love 😭❤️❤️❤️
my coffee: hot
my breakfast: prepared
Rachel's new video: clicked
great start to a saturday morning
It's a Saturday institution!
hotel: trivago
I get some strong Violet Baudelaire vibes from you, when you tie up your hair :D
I love this. Thank you
Oh my god..... Frodo is so adorable!!!! His little sassiness had me in tears from laughter!!!!
*Rachel: Future self do this thing for me please.*
*Future Rachel: Yah I'm not doing that*
Laughing so hard!!!! 🤣🤣 Best INFP/Procrastination meme ever!!
Yaaassssss! Loved this bit SO MUCH :D
I've literally tried for weeks to find a cute pinafore dress and have been unsuccessful. Well, you know what they say about when 'you need something done right!' xD Bless you, Rachel!
Hahahaha YUP a mood 😂😂😂 they're do hard to find online!
No one:
Rachel: Excuse me, sir, but I must Boop da snoot.
“So, yeah. I’m just gonna go for. And deal with problems...*later.*”

"It gets so dark now" - Me and all other Scandinavians : oh my sweet summer child ^^'
Also Rachel complaining that sewing the pannels together takes forever.
Since the Frodo video, the beautiful kitty has appeared much more often!! I apurrove
Hehehehe❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have to say Frodo is absolutely adorable and comes in 2nd in cuteness, after my dog of course. I like both of your pinafores turned out nice. I can't decide which one I like better.
Hahaha understandable! 😂❤️❤️❤️
This was the perfect thing to find on my feed after studying all day for a test.
Got a 93%!
YAY!! ❤️❤️❤️
Congrats!
Woahh well done!! 😊
When you're making a symmetrical shape like the bib, fold the desired shape in half, and trace on the fold of your new fabric, that way both sides are even, then you can cut out the second piece
I live vicariously through your pinafore obsession. I can't sew and can never find ones that I like. So I'll just keep watching you make the forever
As a fashion design major everytime I see you changing patterns and altering what the parttern says my head goes "Oh boy...she shouldn't do that" but at the end it all fits and you look cute and my mind and heart feel happy! 😌💖
Same!
Same! I think "you're not cutting on the grainline!"
Me the self taught sewer: make it huge so it at least goes on and then continuously take it in until it’s decent 😂
Was totally expecting the “children yelling YAY!!!” sound effect after she said “I am not going to make something brown”. 😂
JK, Hobbit Rachel, I’ll watch you make as many brown items as you want!
Hahaha. "It feels heavy, thus there must be enough panels..." I love the logic!
I am rewatching this as I'm making a pinafore out of my late grandfather's old flat sheet. I saw the sheet in my mom's pull-up barn, and asked if I could have it to make a dress out of because I really liked the plaid pattern. I have no pattern, vibes only. Lol
Our two youngest sister's are redhead's lol and when you combine 'work and play' it makes me smile. Missing them. Thank's for being you Rachel 🤟🧡🇨🇦
Who else is coming here after Unus Annus to have their souls soothed by Rachel's cozy vibes?
Me
For some reason I didn’t expect UA fans here! Memento mori my friends.
Oh my goodness
@@dh.468 Memento Mori!
YES memento mori
I've had a pretty rough week but your wholesomeness and general cozy vibe always manages to brighten my day and today is no exception, so thank you :)
Aww sending love and hugs!!
@@rachelmaksy oh my goodness, thank you!!
I’m loving wearing pinafores or dungarees with big sweaters underneath at the moment. It’s so autumnal. This is perfect timing 🧶🍂
Yay so excited to see you back! Hope you had a nice break, you deserve it!
Am I here when I should be sleeping? Yes.
Is it worth it? Most certainly yes.

We’re probably just in different time zones - but around here it’s only about half past 9PM (about 21:30), and it says you posted an hour ago…
So now I’m just wondering what job/life schedule would require one to be in bed by 8:30p (20:30) 🤔
@@iridescentaurora268 actually, I have class (college) right now, and I feel like I needed more sleep. But you're right, I do sleep a lot, like a puppy haha
(And also different time zones, as well, slightly)
Rachel: "I bet you ain't never seen-"
Me: NO. NOT HERE TOO
Rachel: "-fashion like this before."
Me: Oh thank god
This is now my favourite comment thank you😂
For anyone who wants to make the v-neck pinafore from the queens gambit, there's a full free pattern available on mood fabrics website, its called the gambit pinafore dress, the post includes all the instructions and a materials list 😊
At about 8:45 was the first time I was able to actually read her tattoo and I’m CRYING ITS SO PRECIOUS
Since your videos come out so late on Friday nights, I feel like they're almost a reward for another week in the bag. I always find your content very relaxing and definitely some of my favorite things on the internet, so it works out perfectly and I thank you for making life suck a little less :)
Rachel: theres a lot of heckin panels
Me (a seasoned watcher of this channel): yeah theres 12
Editing Rachel: like 12 i think???
Me: :)
Same lol
😂❤️❤️❤️❤️
i want to see a skirt with all 12 one day.... also i want the pattern lol
I really really appreciate that you don't go super in depth "tutorial" style with your sewing videos. I love watching other people sew, but some folks get real redundant with explaining eeevery step (and I already know how to sew from my schooling, so that's not really enjoyable content for me.)
Your videos, however, have a great balance of sewing and general silliness♡ Plus you always choose great styles and fabrics! So thanks for making and sharing your work♡
I don´t even speak english... I started watchin Rachel´s videos just because i wanted to learnt the languaje, so I founded a million of different channels... I like costure but right now Im really interested in make my own clothes and get started into the vintage vibes... wish me look!
(And I hope you all understand because i didn´t use translator this time lol)
You did so well!
It’s “luck” not “look”.
Spelling on “languaje” is “language”, but I love the ingenuity.
It’s been two years, I bet you are so good at English these days!!
*checks for neighbors* “I have a mighty need”
Mighty, but not powerful enough to let the neighbors know
1) loving snarky Editing Rachel
2) Editing Rachel did a lot of work in this!
3) content wise, you could just talk and we would listen
Rachel: *uploads pinafore content*
Me: “yes GIB”
Gib backwards is big
You have perfected the chef's kiss 2:34.
Love how you worked the Maksy Magic again and created such stylish pinafores. They are Frodorific!
worry not i am here solely for the amateur sewing content (not that you’re really an amateur anymore) because it’s nice to see someone else sewing and wearing their creations even though they’re not 100% perfect, which is nice inspiration for me whos just getting started :)
8:18 WHHHOINK!!
That's the wheeziest toy pig ever! 😆
And at 8:30: Revenge of the Pig
These are so cute. The ‘structured’ one is what we used to call a ‘jumper’ (US term) back in the day.
Frodo's sassy lil borks at the beginning 💜💜💜
I am so thankful I found you on youtube. I have been watching all of your videos. Your aesthetic quirky spirit is getting me through the last stretches of graduate school. Many thanks
the shot of her pinning the blue fabric is the prettiest shot I have ever seen, it is *chefs kiss*
I can't help but think of Star Trek and Data, Picard and Worf singing "a british tar" from HMS Pinafore when I hear the word "pinafore"
hmm maybe I got a bit fixated on the drawing but my eye kind of really wants the shorter pinafore to have deeper neckline and narrower shoulders? it covers so much it seems more like a dress than pinafore to me 🤔 but I really love the lenght the bodice shape and the fabric itself
Stunning! They Iook exactIy Iike something right out of the show! Your sewing skiIIs are so good RacheI :) Hey if you ever get bewiIdered again by not enough fabric to cut another skirt paneI, and are worried it's therefore not enough paneIs to fit in the waist, you can cut a haIf an of inch off the top of each skirt paneI, therefore making the waist wider, but with this if it then makes it too big you might have to end up gathering it or adding some tucks to fit your waist - just incase you get in that situation with not enough paneIs :) :) :) Amazing job as aIways
I want to thank you, Rachel, for always putting very thorough closed captions on your videos! It means a lot to your fans that use them, including me ❤️
I am in LOVE with the blue one, oh gosh.
Lmaoooo, really loving editing Rachel in this one
Hehehehe ❤️❤️
It’s always important to have mental health breaks, and I’m so glad you took the time to rest, but I can’t even say how excited I am that you uploaded. I missed my weekly dose of autumnal coziness😂
I just got my sewing machine up and running, hoping to make some things too. I always get so inspired watching your videos.
I'm pretty sure i watch this video once every 3 months! I really love the everyday clothing sewing videos! I like having a friend to sew with!
Omg I love all the sillies! Thank you for just showing all of the things real people do to entertain themselves when they think no one is looking. Loved, loved, loved it. The pinafores are super cute. I don't know if you have any of the grey fabric left but maybe a tiny godet at the back surrounding the zipper would help to extend the shape and keep it from being too tight. Just an idea. They look beautiful and have a wonderful vibe. Great job!
