I'm genuinely alarmed at how you somehow knew the exact sewing pattern I've been desperately searching for the past two days. This is incredible!! ❤
This is the only pattern I’ve bought from her. It’s my late MIL’s name.
actually, same lol @probowler2000
Aw yay perfect timing! Have fun making it 🧡
It’s too hot for this in the tropics but I can see a linen version with a T shirt underneath in my future! Lovely make Janelle!
Ooh yes a linen version would be lovely!
Thanks, Janelle!
I’ve actually just finished three fine corduroy pinafores for my nearly five year old granddaughter for this coming winter. They’re so comfy and versatile and she can wear tights or leggings for extra warmth.
In regard to the gathering, I always use contrasting thread as it helps my Nanna eyes pull it all out when I’m finished the garment! 😂😉🇦🇺
I love any piece of clothing that is made from corduroy material for the winter.👏 You always feel nice and warm wearing them.😊
I had this pinafore in 1990. It was made in cotton ticking and had strawberry vines painted along the hem. The difference is mine had buttons at the shoulder tabs and side seam. I loved that dress. I wore it all the time since it was great with a jumper under for the cooler months and without for the summer. I wore it thru 2 pregnancies and until a furbaby knocked over a bleach bottle when I turned away too long.
Beautiful...definitely Laura Ashley vibes!
Are the 90s having a mini resurgence? I’m so excited! 💞💞
Yes! And I could not be more happy about it!!
I think you mean 60s and 70s 😆
I was thinking that too! I made a dress like this in bottle green needle cord with little red roses in 1993 and I wore it to pieces 😂.
@@emcarver8983Good thing styles come and go, and come back around. I'm loving the resurgence of bell bottoms! Born in 62.
@@theseamstressatthecottageoh that fabric sounds devine!
This is too adorable! Must try.
(Also the absolute SHOCK when you said you were 5”3 - you always look so tall in all your finished project pics! Hehe)
Thanks so much for showing how to hack your pattern to have a tank top style. Going into summer I’m going to make a sleeveless pansy dress just like this unlined and use bias tape to finish the arms and neck
I really appreciate that you added your height on the screen to put into perspective why the skirt length is perfect for you!
So happy to see you advocating for hand stitched finishes! That's how I do all my hems, cuffs and linings. I absolutely cannot stand top stitching! Gives it an instant cheap look and takes something from hand made down to homemade. I was SO tickled to see you hand stitch that lining! 🙌🏼
I wish I had the patience for hand-stitching more! But I never skip hand-stitching the lining of a bodice - it’s just such a beautiful finish 😍
My grandmother said to always hand stitch the hems... So I usually do, as well as the lining to skirt (even on doll clothes..lol!
Not me running to grab the corduroy I have been hanging onto since the before times!
Oh, my 90s self just came to life! And the dock Martins just made it!!!
That is very lovely, perfect for your southern hemisphere going into winter
Hi Janelle. I love this pinafore dress. I am going to make this one for myself. You are so inspirational and make everything look so easy . ❤love your videos 🎉😊
What a cute and cosy make! I love how you pattern hack your patterns in the prettiest way!
Thanks Alexa!! 🧡
This is really really nice. Can't beat a pinafore dress.
I have been wanting to make a dress just like this but I could never find a pattern for it!! I’m a very very beginner so I’m excited to get you follow your pattern☺️
Omg did you read my mind?? I was literally yesterday searching for a pattern for a dress like this! Thanks!!
Haha yay love that! Have fun making it ☺️
@@RoseryApparel just wanted to say I finished it today and I'm so happy! I think it's the best sewing I've done of a bodice so far, and it turned really pretty :)
My favourite by far, so adorable!
I remember you showing us this fabric when you first purchased it!
this style is right up my street. I was so fascinated with the technique used for sewing the arm holes.
YEEESSSSSS!!!! This is great!!! Perfect for autumn!
My thoughts exactly! 😍
I used your Pansey dress pattern to make almost the exact same dress! Except mine was in airy lawn for summer and I added tiny darts in the back so I could sandwich the lacing loops in them so my ties went from the side seam to the back dart.
Sounds amazing!! 😍
Love this pattern hack! I'm actually in the middle of making the Pansy dress in a white floral corduroy, I wanted something warm and cosy for winter with long sleeves, but I love this pinafore version too, I'll definitely be making this!
I love the sound of that!! It’s going to be soo cosy 😍
Wonderful make! Love corduroy! Ive got several projects planned with some once ive given birth, not much point while pregnant lol. Thanks for another great video!
Aw, this reminds me of a pinafore dress that my mom sewed for me when I was a girl. She also made it out of fine corduroy and I remember that it was a dark forest green with little flowers on it. Yours looks lovely!
So excited when I saw this video come up! Such a lovely make! Excited to try it❤
Absolutely adorable! I have been wanting this pattern, but I don’t like things that close to my neck. Now I’m just going to make the normal dress with this neckline and sleeves. 🥰🥰🥰
Hi Janelle. Another gorgeous dress. I love florals with a black background. One day I’d like to make my own, but maybe with long sleeves and a shorter skirt. Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. 🌸🙂
You make great sewing tutorials. Great instructions good job.
Thank you! I’m really glad you like them ☺️
Gorgeous work, thanks for your inspiration 😊
I’ve made many of dresses like this!! Love them!! So cute!!
Thanks Janelle! I’m always happy to see a new video from you 😊
Beautiful fabric and Beautiful dress❤❤❤
I love this dress and will be trying my luck at a similar pattern. I am so encouraged after watching your videos....thank you!!
Beautiful! Love that corduroy print 😍 Just the thing for cooler weather.
Very nice! I just got some corduroy and will try this! ❤
Absolutely gorgeous! ❤
That is so cute, I absolutely love the material. I’m going to look for it immediately. So inspiring, thank you 😊
Beautiful. Love it.
Thank you ☺️
This style of dress has been on my to-make list for a while! Thank for for the tutorial!
Oh my goodness, I NEED to make one!! Magical. 😊
Beautiful! Beautiful!
Love this and since summer is about to start here, I will make a linen or cotton version , but my corduroy awaits winter this year.. thank you
Amazing, I have been wanting to make a corduroy pinafore dress and have just bought your Pansy dress pattern
Sooooo easy and beautiful!!!!!!!
As always great video 👌
It is so beautiful love to be able to use a pattern I already have thank you
This is SO good! I like your style so much. And the videos are always so calm and well explained! Thanks ❤
Aw thank you! That means a lot 🧡
Omg I love this pinafore! I really really need one! Especially love your choice of fabric Janelle 😊
Thank you!! 🧡🧡
Love it❤
I love this!
I so admire your beatutiful finnishes to your projects. Rather jealous of your sewing machine too. I do love mine but the new machines do have featues to make sewing easier. Anyway you do great work and your videos are very inspiring. Thanks.
I really wanted to see how a pinafore dress was going to look after it's done. And especially wt long sleeve tee?. U have nailed it Jenelle. ThankU
This is amazing and so clever as allways 😍 dropping every project to start this right now ❤ also think it is going to be perfect for some fabric I have had for a long time and just not found the right pattern for think this is definitely it 😊
Ooh yay! Have fun making it 🧡
It is just darling. So easy and beautiful.
Aw thank you 🧡
Very cute dress, you look adorable in ti!
Love this so much! I need you to know that my seventh-grade picture from the 1991-92 school year has me in a dark green pinafore (we call them jumpers in the US) and blouse, and that was my FAVORITE dressy outfit at the time. It's beyond wonderful to see a modern rendition so expertly executed. Loving the corduroy fabric, too. Just brilliant all around!
Ahh I love that so much!! I’m so happy the 90s are coming back, it’s so nostalgic 😍
@@RoseryApparel When 70s fashion was big in the 90s, my mom said "I experienced it once. I don't need to do it again." Can't relate. Bring back the 90s! It was a wonderful time!
I LOVE this dress!!!! I have been looking for a dress just like this! I wish I knew how to hack a pattern but I am so new to sewing and don’t feel confident in doing so. Do you think you might create a new pattern for this dress?
Ooh I hadn’t thought of that! But I’ll add it to the list of patterns to make ☺️
@@RoseryApparel thank you so much!!
Omg Janelle, this is sooooo cute! I'm immediately making a linen version of this, I have been wanting a pinafore like this for a while. I am thinking that the spot where you attach the little ribbons might look a little weird (at least more visible) if I use a plain fabric... Maybe I could sew some cute, decorative buttons on top?
Yess a linen version would be amazing 😍 Adding buttons would look so cute, but I think the ties will still look good on a plain fabric so it’s up to you!
Do you add extra measurements in your patterns for French seams?
Could you pattern hack the Rosa pattern to make this dress? Excited to give this a go!
I'd like to know this too!
I think the Rosa bodice is more shaped, however I think you could base the bodice on Rosa and change it to straighter sides. After that you could follow this video. I'm going to give it a try!
@@marypirie4327 Ok! I think you are right about it being more fitted. Wondering if you could leave out the darts since it has ties to shape the sides a bit? Keep us updated 😁, I haven't yet had time to try on my side!
@@ladyorange9915 I'll let you know how I get on. I take quite a long time to get things done, so don't expect a quick answer!!
@@marypirie4327 it's no problem 😊
This is beautiful! What type of fabric do you recommend for the lining?
I usually like lining my dresses with a light-weight cotton. This time I used some linen from my stash as the colour contrasted nicely with the corduroy fabric 😊
I'm going to try this one out. What fabric do you recommend for the lining?
A lightweight cotton is usually my go to for lining 😊
❤❤
Is there another way than the burrito method to stitch the lining of the bodice to the bodice? I love this dress and would like to make it for my Daughter.
Not that I know of… you could hand stitch the entire thing but I promise the burrito method is a much quicker and easier way to go about lining the bodice 😊
could this be modified further and instead of a skirt add a pants section? I'm thinking, wide legs-light weight linen fabric. In my hemisphere we are having Spring.
I have your Rosa pattern, would it work? Instead of the Pansy pattern? Or I have the Daisy dress pattern too. Would that be better?
Yes the Rosa will work, but I recommend skipping the waist darts otherwise you will need to add a zip to get it on and off ☺️
What other fabric would you recommend for this dress? I live in North West Tennessee, USA. We have very mild winters and hot, humid summers. Can I use cotton/linen fabric?
Yes absolutely! A cotton/linen version would be amazing 👌🏻
@@RoseryApparel I think a navy blue would look amazing.
Janelle, is this the beautiful fabric you bought in Japan?
Yes it is! 😍
Ok, not even a minute in... I love corduroy! But that's not your color scheme...😮. I was in an American Western wear shop the other day and everything is rust and light greens/khaki greens and cremes. I thought of you instantly. And my dress pattern (Pansy) has hit the West coast (USA)! I'm so excited! 🎉.
One more minute in: Hacking the pansy pattern! SCORE!
I was looking at Pinterest and came across "Mori" style dressing... Japanese. I've seen it with Smart Doll clothes, but just found it for people. I actually like it.. this reminds me of that.
Ohh stunning 😍 i love it! I had cord pinafore on my autumn/winter sew list and this is the perfect pattern 🥹💕 thank you!
