  • Review of the Hideaway Bivy from Aquaquest.
After using the Hideaway bivy on a cracking overnighter on the Welsh hills, I thought I'd share my thoughts.
SPOILER ALERT - I didnt like it....

I’ve the original. The design is fantastic, so easy to get in and out. Brilliant bivy. 👍

You'll get no argument from me on that, 👍 size wise, its like a small tent.

To be fair, I had no issues with my MOD bivvi and wasn't in the market to replace it, unfortunately it was part of the kit I lost off the back of my bike somewhere on the M54 🙁. Gotta see the silver lining though so will be putting up review vids of the kit i need to replace. Brew kit, Pack, Quilt, Water filter.
Good to have Lister back out with me. He's knocking on a bit now so no long hikes or runs but he likes to get involved with the reveiws...lol
Thanks for popping by and saying hi.

Looks a good bivvy Andy. I've been looking into some aqua quest gear . All sounds good . I've got the snugpak hooped bivvy which is OK and has kept me dry but if I had my time again might've gone for something like that . Anyway take care bud 👍

it's odd how terrible the reviews are of this tent on Amazon UK and Amazon USA. It doesn't seem to be an issue of knock offs either. The design and specifications look great for a bivy but the amount of bad reviews of the reality of it are alarming

Excellent review. I was wondering have you had any issues with the plastic stiffners in the hood and foot box of the bivi going out of shape?

Thanks TALKCalgary. Not had any issues yet, but will keep an eye on them now. Have you had this problem?

@@owtnabowt2723Perhaps I was just unlucky but I ordered twice from Amazon and on both occasions the bivi's arrived badly folded, missing parts and with the stiffing rings twisted out of shape.

Hi. I would really love to know how you get on in the rain with it. I have one, but I’ve only ever used it in warm dry conditions. There’s very little on RUclips about these bivvi’s. You might be the first person to do a video on it in any detail.
I did see one on a RUclips channel called Brook’s & Birches if I recall, he was in rainy and windy weather and he got soaked. He also used an AquaQuest tarp but still it leaked quite badly. I was a bit disappointed as I’d just bought mine when I saw his video. As you said, the technical stats are very impressive. Mine seems very well made, but I haven’t had the confidence to try it in adverse weather since seeing that. I realise a bivvi isn’t the best choice in wind and rain, but judging by the stats it shouldn’t leak. Anyway thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experience on all of your videos, and I’m so glad someone else has an AquaQuest Hideaway. Hopefully they don’t leak. All the best!

Hi Simon. Like yourself, not really had it out on its own in bad weather. It was very wet and windy in the Mourne Mountains, but I used it along with a tarp and had no issues. It really is my 1/2 season option, used more for keeping the midges out and those light summer showers off. if I know the weather is going to be more challenging, I switch to the Berghaus
I've got a few long hike coming up where I plan to use it, so i'll update if anything changes.

TBF, my experience with it has been mostly positive. I will revisit for a long term use review once i've used it under more varying conditions.
