    Aqua Quest makes really great tarps, so hopefully the same is true of their bivies. Looking forward to the full review!

    This thing looks perfect, maybe would want a second vent on the head piece. Besides that it seems perfect if you just need something to sleep in while backpacking

    When does it stop being a bivy and start being a pup tent ;)
    Neat product, but I can't help but think it's in a weird spot between tarping and microlight tenting (given the weight). As for sharing, there's no way I'd cram 2 people in there unless I wanted my girlfriend to hate me the next day :)

    Once inside, do you have to zip up the bug net to keep it off of you? I noticed it was laying on top when you unzipped the bivy cover.

  • @Billandmeggie
    @Billandmeggie Год назад

    I wonder if the hoop will stand without the tent being staked? I’d like to have the option of using it in a A.T. shelter on a buggy night.

  • @EarlyMist
    @EarlyMist 8 лет назад +1

    I don't know, seems large and heavy given the amount of ultralight tents available for not much more $ such as the Force 10 Helium, luxe sil minipeak, Wild Country Zephyros etc. They have similar or even smaller packsize, vastly more liveable space while still being smallish footprint, less condensation issues and not that much longer to setup.

    • @ozzmundo1

      Looks like a high loft bag and a large pad would leave insufficient room at the foot box.

  • @Jesusandbible
    @Jesusandbible 8 лет назад

    You seemed to think it is stuffy and hot inside. Cant really breathe too good? Thats why I like Jack Wolfskins original gossamer - great groundsheet, easy to breathe. But my thinking on it now is standalone tents with no need to peg them out are a great advantage for sleeping in a city too

  • @gliderrider
    @gliderrider 8 лет назад +1

    That bivy looks great and well made. However, condensation in the foot box is the thing I worry about here, as with most bivys. Looking forward to your overnighter in this. You just can't beat the $109 price on Amazon!

  • @gewamser
    @gewamser 8 лет назад +3

    For that price, it needs to be gore Tex or a similar breathable material.

    • @mrmurdochyessss5406

    I would also like your opinion on how this would work as a winter bivy. I already have the Aqua Quest Sil Tarp for when I'm using a hammock, so that with the bivy? Over kill or just right. Love the videos, keep up the awesome work Luke!

    Rather buy a cheap Wally World pup tent. Larger space bout the same wt and inexpensive. In fair weather a ranger roll would be about the same but would give the option of some cover over head during the day. If you have to deal with chiggers, scorpions or snakes, a tent or a hammock is the way to go. Good review as usual.

    • @lcm7541
      @lcm7541 8 лет назад +1

      I have owned the Snugpak Stratosphere, on paper it is good, but in Pratice it is very flawed. the zipper is quite sticky, the stakes are quite brittle, the fabric bleeds water at the foot end (I was not inside of it). lastly the bivy has a huge design flaw, when it rains hard the zipper lies flat and water will pool, leading to massive leaks.

    Hey Luke, I'm going on a 50 mile trip this summer and I was wondering do you think this would be a good tent that I could take on it since I need to be lightweight? I was thinking about the REI Passage 1 but it's it's quite a bit more than this one so I just wanted to see what your opinion is?

    • @thegriffinpages3074

      +Jamison Bunch I just wanted to throw in my two cents here. I have the Kelty Tempest 2. You can get them for anywhere between $100-$175. Its a reasonable weight IMHO.
      Full disclosure: I've never been on a 50 mile hike with this tent, so I don't know if it would be what you would want.
      I will say its a wonderful summer tent! It has more than enough room for a person and gear. It could fit two people if you don't mind snuggling. The rain fly works well, and there is more than enough room in the vestibule for boots, wet/dirty stuff when it rains to keep it out of the elements.
      Hope that helps!
