    I think this is one of your best reviews IMO, well done. I would have liked to see it in the pool of water for a longer period of time to simulate sleeping overnight through a prolonged downpour, just in case it was ones first line of defense. I am also wondering what the condensation factor will be like in there. The weight and size are excellent.

    I have two Guide sil tarps from Aqua Quest which are excellent - really well made and work a treat. I’ve got this exact mummy bag too but I’m not that impressed. I get really bad condensation every time I use it - my down bag is always damp in the foot box in the morning. On a single night out it isn’t that much of an issue, but for a hike through where you potentially can’t dry your gear it’s something to be aware of. Tarps I’d give 9/10. The bivy I’d give a 4/10.

    Kick ass Bivy. Nice for use with a cheaper sleeping bag or poncho liner

  • @FlashGeiger
    @FlashGeiger 9 лет назад +1

    I'm not sure I'd use it in my hammock since I still want a tarp over the hammock, or else pooling in the hammock might get past the zipper. This would be ideal under a more minimal shelter like sleeping on the ground under a poncho tarp where my feet have to stick out in the rain. Thanks for the review. This looks like a good piece.

    • @livingsurvival
      @livingsurvival  9 лет назад

      FlashGeiger Yeah, I meant with a tarp, mainly for condensation.

    • @FlashGeiger

    Thanks LS for testing the bivy. OK, for about the same money, which do you think is the best? The Aqua Quest Waterproof Survival Bivy or a G.I. Gore-Tex MSS bivy bag? I'm having a hard time choosing between the two.

  • @JohnSmith-vb6jx

    Slap that rain maker for getting you in the nuts with the hose. Good review. That bivy would work good for emergency backup but not necessarily primary sleep system component, IMHO.

    Great review. I am a new subscriber and im very happy i found your channel. The products that you review are exactly what im looking for. It really help me to make an informed choice on what to buy myself when i get to see the different packs, sleep systems, cook sets, and in this case a bivy. Is this in your opinion a best bang for your buck bivy? Or would i be better off with a buy once cry once expensive one? I live in the north west where it rains non stop so staying dry is very important yet very hard to accomplish. Thanks again for all your videos! You do fantastic reviews!

    Its waterproof as you mentioned, But how's the breathability?
    I'm worried about ice on down sleeping bag in winter from condensation.
    Happy New year!
