    Using bernat blanket extra, the knit stitch was too tight and I had to frog it after the first row. I switched to a 36 peg loom and purled the whole thing and it came out great, if a little too big so I'll gift it to someone with a larger head :)

    Hi
    Have just finished beginners loom ear warmer.
    It hasnt much stretch. Think perhaps i used 8ply wool double. Will try single strand next time. Would be a good idea if the ply wool used could be clearer. e.g. what size it would be if lived in Australia America or England.
    Video was very good so back to experiencing dufferent wool.

    when you cut the yarn to cast off do you cut it from the work or do you cut from your yarn ball? I know I might not making sense, I do not know if you cut the yarn from the work to do the cast off. sorry if that does not make sense. thank you for this video understand it all but the last part.

    • @GinaLay
      @GinaLay  6 лет назад

      Hello Nancy Jensen! You will cut your working yarn after you wrap it around the loom. At this point in time the yarn is still attached to the ball. :-) I hope this makes sense. 💐🌸🌷

    I made this a few days ago. I used a 31 peg round loom. It came out to a child size, which is ok since I have grandchildren. However, it's pretty tight, and yours looks nice and stretchy. Also, it was SUPER tight when I doubled it and did the bind off. Like bending my tool and having to pull with all my might tight. The yarn I used was a #5 bulky. So, a couple of questions - should I used a 36 peg or a 41 peg round loom? Do you know what would make it so tight? Any advice you can give me would be great. Thanks!!!

      Only an idea, but whenever I have extra tension I make sure to have the "e" wrap going the right way so that the round part is in front of the peg rather than the intersection of the "e" stitch. Thanks Gina, you are so patient with us.

  • @amysheart
    @amysheart 6 лет назад

    Have a question for you....first, I made the headband and it turned out perfectly, but now I am doing it again and after I got it the width I want and folded it over and fed it onto the loom, it is so tight that I can't get the lower yarn up and over the peg. I took it completely apart and start it over. So now on the second attempt the very same thing has happened. What on Earth am I doing wrong that it works the first time and now it won't?

    • @GinaLay
      @GinaLay  6 лет назад

      Chattanooga Baby I think it depends on the tension of the yarn your pulling up. I sometimes put my stitches to half of the peg that I’m knitting over. That usually helps the problem. :-) It still may be tight but that should help the problem some. ❤️🙂 Thank you for being here!

    • @amysheart
      @amysheart 6 лет назад +1

      Gina Lay, I'll let you know. I took it apart AGAIN....3rd time. Ugh! I made a hat a few weeks ago with a brim and it wasn't hard at all, then made this headband and it wasn't hard, now this time, I just keep failing.

      I would say a 36 peg round loom should be fine, unless you have a lot of hair, in which case maybe don't go all the way around (go back and forth) and add a button closure with a hair tie for extra space. I thought a 41 peg would fit me better, but it's too loose, so I doubt it would be better for a headband.
