How to do a parallel parking in three steps

- • Signal right and Pull over next to the car
• Stop your car mirror to mirror with another car
• Turn on Hazard light or keep your right signal on
• Back up the car until the tail light is in the middle of your back door
• Turn the wheel all the way to the right and back up until you see 45* triangle (think pizza slice) in your right mirror
• Turn wheel back to straight and keep backing up until you see a very small triangle
• Turn the wheel all the to the left
• Keep backing up until you become parallel to the curb
• Put the car on park, straight the wheels and turn off the hazard lights

The idea is to make approximately 45 degrees angle. I believe your car is a huge suv and you are asking about that kind of car. I never tried with a big suv but definitively the middle row window would be the guide to take.
@@RevolutionDrivingSchool do you turn the steering wheel 360 degrees to right? when you hit reverse sometimes its 1.5 revolution...i'm so confuse how to decide to do it one turn or 1.5 turns to right??? and when you say turn the wheel all way to left that is until it can't go no more??? then put it back straight is two complete turns (720 degrees)???
@@MissHitAllTheTime So we turn the wheel 3 times. First turn is all the way to the right , second turn wheel goes back to straight and third turn all the way left.
@@MissHitAllTheTime some cars could be one a quarter, some one and half and even more so it depends on the car .
@@RevolutionDrivingSchool I noticed you when you start to turn the wheel all the way left when you mention in the video is when you can see the door handle of your car touching the curb??? front or back passenger side seat of the door handle??

This looks easy. I have a question. What if you have to parallel park on the curb, do u have any pointers about how to do it? My street is so narrow with a lot of cars. I have to park between 2 cars and on the curb. I'm a little bit nervous about doing it. how could I do this?
Hi Kayla, parking on the curb is illegal as I know. But if it’s allowed then you have to be very careful about that. It’s a bit tricky. You can use the same technique however when you are about to hit the curb you should apply more gas and as the tire is on the sidewalk immediately break so you don’t hit any other car behind.
Then do the same with front wheel.
It’s a bit dangerous as you know. Be careful and good luck.
@@RevolutionDrivingSchool it's just parking on the curb in front of my house since my street is very narrow and full of cars. I hate parking on the curb but you don't really have a choice. Thank you! after you get to the taillight and back up do you turn your wheel fully back to straight or do you turn it once to get to straight?
Sorry for the late response. You need to Turk it to straight. Some cars, one turn can bring back to straight but some cars could be one and half turn.
Hello sir , my instructor is teaching me to take 1 round steering right turn after reversing the car and then 2 turn . Its so hard to make parrel parking .
Using my technique will help you to learn how to make a judgement and you will know how close you are to the curb. That’s how I park my car everyday.
Quick question, my car has side mirrors that automatically tilt down when in reverse, would I simply turn left when the triangle is bigger than what was shown in the vid?
If your mirrors are tilting down automatically , still your triangle should be smaller than the one at the beginning but it shouldn’t be too small.
Would be even nicer if you could share how the side mirror is adjusted because what we see is not the driver prospective.
Do I have to put the hazard lights on when I’m doing parallel park on my drivers test? Btw I live in Texas.
I’m not sure about Texas but what I can tell is wherever you do a parallel parking you need either signal or hazards. It really doesn’t matter as long as you have one of those. If an examiner doesn’t like it they will tell you and You won’t get a point for that. In real life I prefer hazards.

Why do you put hazard light during parallel parking? And not used right signal? One of test site instructor failed me for not using the hazard light. But on driving manual nothing mentioned about use of hazard light during parking.
Every examiner make their own judgements and decisions. Some examiners thinks right signal is the best while some are thinking hazards are safer.
Hi, No matter what they have no right to fail you just because you didn’t use hazards or right signal. It could be a point but not a fail.
for some reasons i find harder to parallel park next to a car than parking between 2 cars, since u dont have the car behind you to see it in the mirror and know when to stop

Rapier We do take the car next to us as a guide, not the one in the back so with our technique it doesn’t matter if there is a car behind or not.
This is a good method but it doesn’t work when there is also a car behind. It only works in a wide spot.
If you're in Colorado do not turn on the hazards I failed my test because of that 😭 but still a good teaching video none the less

Some cars one full turn makes all the way some one and a half turn makes it all the way or so.
Does this work in tight spaces?
Mehrdad Hossain Yes it does but you may need to start the 1st step a bit earlier. Depends on the spot you may need to make the angle a bit bigger too.
will this step work for super tight parking spots or only for spot like 1.5 car length strictly for u to pass the driving test???
It works perfect for the road test as well as real life parking even for tight spots.
For tight spots you have to play with the angle, do not back up straight at the beginning too much. So pretty much you do the exact same maneuvers .

Hi, preferably we use the momentum of the car. So take your foot of the break and let the car move. Do not use gas unless needed.
For example with a Smart car you can't do it in this way, depends on type of the car...

In the mirror if the triangle goes smaller it means you are closer. If you loose it you may hit the curb.
What about if THE car is bigger
Mohamed Abdi it’s all about the end of the car, tail light. Big car small car doesn’t make a difference.
