I "met" you when I was lying in a hospital bed, with covid, in November of 22. I listened to your videos for 9 days. You became a great friend. My parents were both hospitalized with me. Dad didn't make it out. My mom came to recover with me for 2 weeks before she got secondary pneumonia and passed away. Three weeks after my dad. I hurt for you when you lost your dad. I have prayed for you when you went "missing" or looked "off." I have POTS and other autoimmune issues and understand and can empathize with you. Some days, or weeks, are just off. I can't name it, but I can feel that things aren't "right." I've learned to accept that and I give myself grace now during those periods. I hope that if you haven't already that you will do the same soon. We spend our youth beating ourselves up. At this stage of life, we should be enjoying who we are. Thank you for keeping me company when I was afraid I was dying. For when I was grieving the loss of my parents. For ALL the days that I don't feel right and just can't bother moving around. Please remember that you are in my prayers. Maybe some time when you aren't doing great, you'll remember that you have a friend out here that is praying for you. I know that I am not the only one. There is an army of us, I'm sure. God bless you 💖💖💖

I could relate to much of what you discussed here about weight and self-esteem. You have been through so much...now I hope you can truly enjoy your new life! You have been so brave! Nothing was going to stop you. It's funny though...when you showed your pictures throughout the years...you were always beautiful. Always pretty with a kind expression. I know burnout my friend. Thank you so much for posting and sharing your story. I wish you much continued good health here on out. I had gastric bypass surgery 2 years ago and had lost 160 pounds. I am in Canada so I did have to wait 4.5 years to get my surgery and there was quite a rigorous process (lots of hoops to jump through). I haven't lost any more weight and I need to, by about 50 pounds worth. I agree about the talk therapy, I have started doing that this year and it'll be a slow process. I ended up being divorced after 24 years and now nearly 2 decades later, I'm just starting to process and start healing. Food too was my comfort. I will be 60 in a few years and would really like to be more healthy, and more mobile (both my knees need replacing but right now I can't because of other chronic health issues) Being over 200 pounds overweight totally destroyed my knees especially. In the last six months I've started to do more self care - wanting to wear makeup to boost my spirits. I've been buying so much and lots of it doesn't work with mature skin. So I have been enjoying your videos. Today's video just really touched me and so I wanted to thank you for sharing your story. Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones!

I can relate to having such weight gain and am the biggest I’ve ever been. I’m working on my health now and have taken off 18 lbs so far. I look forward to living in a body that I can be proud of. What a wonderful way to share what all you've been through... You have been a source of strength for me as I've gone through one of the hardest years of my life. You may remember that I told you I shared fibromyalgia with you, along with psoriatic arthritis , migraines, gut issues & some follow-ons from the main condition. In February of 2024, my husband was admitted to the hospital with covid, aspirational pneumonia, and swallowing issues. After he was admitted to the hospital, I found out I had covid, which then became pneumonia, I was having some shortness of breath, but pushed it aside as stress. My husband was sent home from the hospital under hospice care on March 4 . He died on March 9. My breathing issues got worse, but I still felt like it was stress & added unbearable grief. Fast forward to November 2. I ended up in an ambulance on the way to the ER because I couldn't get enough oxygen to be able to breathe, talk, move... Anyway, I was admitted to the hospital with Acute Respiratory Failure with Hypoxia. I was sent home after 11 days, with oxygen in several formats, a salt restricted diet, fluid intake restrictions, plus follow-up visits with my pulmonologist, a new cardiologist & my primary care doc. Also lots more tests... Anyway, I am now diagnosed as having Interstitial Lung Disease, which is more than I have the strength to explain... But, the point in all this is that we often face many life-changing events, health issues, loss & grief, but we can find the strength to move forward & still have purpose in our lives. Melissa, you bring hope & encouragement to your viewers who are facing challenges in their lives. You spoke words of encouragement to me indirectly in your videos & directly to me in your replies. Thank you! In this community we can bring encouragement & support to each other in a very safe environment. Thank you, Melissa for all that you do for your viewers. You are loved & appreciated!!!

I, too, have reached 300 lbs. I’m considering Ozempic, but I know I’ll most likely gain the weight back after stopping it. I’ve become so sedentary that just walking down the driveway to my mailbox wears me out. I’m 60 and feel 80. I appreciate you being so real about your journey.

@@karenschmid5465 Could not agree more Karen~ both my husband & myself, as well as many other people we know. It's as if we're aging in reverse, in so many ways. The biggest changes & deepest healing has taken place after transitioning from keto to primarily meat based, or "carnivore". Spent years researching it all, since I just couldn't fathom not eating a "low fat/whole grain/lean protein/12 servings of veg & fruit" type diet. We'd been taught this for decades, yet it was making us sicker. What we eat really does affect every system in the body & brain. It truly does feel amazing, & wish the same for anyone & everyone else it may do the same for.Samantha in AZ

Thanks for sharing. I have Raynaud’s, too. I had a tummy tuck May 2023. I had just turned 65. I had gained 36 lbs when pregnant- I only started at 118, so it was a lot on my small frame, but doctor wasn’t concerned. I lost it because I was a nervous wreck being a first time mom!I had the bit of extra skin though. Then I had another child 4.5 years later, gained 36 lbs again. I lost that, too. Then, 10 years ago, I had my 4th spinal surgery and recovery was tough- I was 56 then. In the 4-5 years after that, I slowly added 30-35 lbs. overindulging and not be very active. I hated it, so I cut out all the junk and started walking almost daily and I lost it over the period of a year or so. (My older male neighbor complimented me, saying he noticed how much better I looked- that was nice to hear! Those close to you don’t notice as much because they see you daily). But, I did have this loose belly skin. Not much fat, I was about 122 lbs. Saw a plastic surgeon and treated myself. The recovery was harder than the spine surgery! So tough! I had the drains for 6 weeks. I “fudged” the output numbers so they’d take it out. I regret that now, because I think my belly would have been a little flatter if I didn’t. BUT, a year and a half later, I am very pleased with the result. I told the surgeon, I just wanted to look better in clothes and I do. She said I was “the perfect candidate” with that extra belly skin. I have a cut from hip to hip, but it all healed well and my husband likes the result, too. He was very supportive.

I am 61 now I just turned 61 on the 15th of December and I'm experiencing so many different things I'm about the same height as you right now I'm about 2:25 I go up and down between 2:10 and 2:25 and when I had my hysterectomy back in 2013 I started developing this gut that I never ever had before and I have had a lot of physical issues with broken bones from horse accidents broken back all kinds of issues I usually have kept pretty busy but I was on prednisone and all kinds of those things that automatically make you feel better but they also make you very fat and I do have a eating disorder definitely deal with issues with comfort food so this was inspiring to hear I am so thankful that you shared I have been considering a few things to try and lose weight and get rid of this gut I have it's very massive and I'm so uncomfortable all the time and I don't want to feel like this anymore I want to be able to do things I'm going to be a grandmother for the first time in May of 25 and I want to be a good grandma I don't want to be able to keep up and enjoy my grandchildren for many years to come So I definitely want to talk to a registered dietitian and start my journey there Thank you again for sharing your journey

Hi Melissa Life can sure throw a lot at us and you are very courageous . One of the things is it shows how resilient we are but there are times we hit a wall and that resonates with me for sure. During this season of my healing one thing that helped me is to sit with where I am and what I’m feeling. As women we try to gloss over it tell ourselves we have to be strong or move on but I stopped doing that. I sit with how I am and allow to feel it and not shame myself into feeling better or snap out of it. Of course ar some point we don’t want it to debilitate us but for me I notice I naturally work through flow with it and it dissipates on its own . I guess what I’m saying is we can only take so much before we hit that wall but it’s ok because it slows us down . Take care of you ❤️

I too had the RNY GB in 2003 30 yrs old I was 405lbs at my largest, I did plateau at about 225 until I got pregnant 2009 I lost weight during pregnancy to 215 then gave birth and lost more weight 154 was my smallest then in 2017 I had knee replacement caught a serious bone infection had a total of 7 surgeries both knees and now I'm at 260, I'm unable to ambulate properly even though I finally beat the infection which took 3 years, I also would do the surgery all over again even though I still have problems with dumping syndrome it's not as bad as it once was but for once in my life for a short period of time I was a normal size wearing what ever I wanted, it's was wonderful, I know what flabby skin is like I just couldn't afford cosmetic surgery I was a single working mother but it just wasn't possible. You are beautiful Melissa thanks for sharing your experiences. You are a very strong woman. 😊

You have always been a beautiful lady, at every age and weight, Melissa. Life is certainly a journey 💓.....I had a tummy tuck at age 40 (I am now 64) to repair my abdominal wall separation and loose skin that was a result of carrying ginormous 7 and 7 1/2 lb. twins at age 21 and two C-sections. Recovery was rough but the results were excellent. I would do it again in a heartbeat. We owe it to ourselves to take care of both our bodies and our souls. You are looking so healthy and happy, my friend, and I am honored to be a part of your community of lovely ladies 💞

I love anything y'all share & I'm hoping that your health is in top form in 2025! 🥰 Merry Christmas my dear! edit: I also have Fibromyalgia & Raynaud's. I get it! I keep gloves in my car & make sure to wear them all wintertime. I was diagnosed with both in 1992 but know I suffered for years before a doc diagnosed them. I also suffer from Barrett's Esophagus so have to get my throat dilated every few years. One Dr. trashed my singing voice years ago around 2015 but I think I've told y'all that before. 🤠

Melissa, it’s impressive everything you’ve been through-truly admirable! Thank God you’re doing perfectly now, and the most amazing thing is how gorgeous you look. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I want to get a bypass, but I’m very scared. I don’t have extreme excess weight, but for my build and height, I am more than 40 kg over, almost 100 lbs😬😬😬😬
I’d love it if you could share the name of the doctor in Mexico and the one in the United States. I’m currently in Mexico 🇲🇽, but I have no problem moving around since I’m a U.S. resident. I handle most of my things in El Paso, TX, and I could easily travel within the United States.
I admire you so much; you look beautiful, and I thank God for your amazing recovery.
    P.S. I don’t miss a single one of your videos-I love them! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️😘😘

You have always been beautiful. You did what you thought you needed to do for your physical and mental health. Thank you for sharing and congratulations. I think now with drugs like Ozempic, so many people are going to be able to achieve a healthy weight without surgery like before. Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family. ❤

Greetings Melissa! I'm so glad you made it through everything safely. Do you still have the blood clot? I have lots of issues to, but I haven't had such major surgery on top of them. I hope 2025 brings you renewal and healing! Love and blessings ♥️🙏

Thank you so much for this video Melissa. Love you and whatever you post. Miss those sayings at the end of your videos though. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Questions: would anyone losing roughly 100 pounds have a saggy sick problem or is it only if you lose it quickly? Can you lose 100 pounds and not have saggy sink?

I use the analogy of a balloon being blown up. Once the air is gone out, it doesn't return to its previous size. But a lot has to do with personal genetics & the elasticity of your skin.

🛑How did you know you had the portal vein clot? Also, the therapy and dietitian addition should be included when you start/on a GLP1 journey as well.

Melissa, you were always a beautiful woman. Today, you are just stunning! Love everything you're wearing; that blouse is lovely and flatters your complexion so well. My late father in law had gastic bypass decades agoand now, my son's girlfriend who has a lot of health issues including stage 4 heart failure, is supposedly having gastric surgery in February. It worries me a bit, to be honest, in her condition. ~Cynthia

Did you have falls with POTS? My primary care physician is sending me to a neurologist for some tests to find out why I fall. I don't lose consciousness, I don't see "stars". Would the neurologist be the one to give me the tilt table test? I've got endometriosis, fibromyalgia and chronic pain.💜💜💜 Love you sweetie. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

I'm wondering how much of a difference in price the gastric bypass surgery was in Mexico versus done in the USA?
