@haileyphillips6704 Its not rude really, he wasn't trying to shade her or anything. His outlook on it is definitely from a hobby and special interest sort of way rather than a "you look bad so you get plastic surgery" way. He's interested in it exactly like someone else may be interested in tattoos or piercings. They don't do it out of insecurity, but rather as an art form that they enjoy. Both of the main ppl with surgery seem to have that outlook, but there are also examples of insecurity fueling it, which is often when people get cheap surgeries and get botched.

I remember watching some TV segment about him on youtube at least a decade ago when I was a kid, calling him the "living ken doll", and thinking "oh, so his bulge-y 'muscles' don't function as muscles and he's a lot less strong than he looks."

Mateo has clear body dysmorphia. Those proportions are so off and so unappealing to the eye. Of course, they probably think these comments are jealousy and dismiss them. I love watching plastic surgery stuff. Am a blend of no money so don't want it. But despite being natural I saw the plastic surgery everywhere 😂 I even had arguments for it.
Could also be said for the opposite, people with no plastic surgery who are insecure with themselves and see themselves as ugly, see other beautiful people and can’t fathom that they’re natural, so they accuse them of getting plastic surgery.

The two judges who had plastic surgery seem incredibly sensitive and insecure to public opinion
Something that I frequently ask myself is if I could ever befriend with someone like them. Not because of preconceptions, but damn, we probably see things so differently especially when it comes to the beauty industry literally promoting these types of cosmetics as a mean to profit with people's insecurities.
Like, I totally need a top surgery because I want to go swimming and take my shirt off. That will hugely improve my health. But jawline? Nose job? I think I'd talk to my therapist first.
Sure it helps emotionally to some degree, but what leads someone to dive this deep like these two? Of course they were insecure about that comment while they care about how they present. Many people that do modifications do it to keep up with beauty standards and because they have money to do so, and that not just shows up in the first glance or talking about costs, but they reinforce the ideia whenever they think a teacher wouldn't be able to afford it...
Maybe the "exception" about designing yourself are some folks just wanting a nice tattoo (which has art involved) or wanting to look like Satan (kinda like a counterculture from my perception. There is one in my country that even changed his legal name lol)

if it's subtle body modifications then maybe, but a nose job is typically always visible. I could tell with every single participant who had a nose job. Which is not meant as a bad thing btw, just that a nose job is typically visibl. Maybe it's because I always wanted a nose job myself so I can already spot one immediately since I spent so much time looking at noses my whole life😂
