Welcome to the Letterman RUclips Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. These highlights have been artisanly-produced, carefully-curated, and chosen completely at random by an old computer that used to pick numbers for the New York Lotto back in the 90’s.
Standing on one of the raised camera platforms across the street was Bruce Willis. Some of us standing in the crowd below shouted up to him in unison, “John McClane!” He heard us and waved back.
Another great memory of the concert: The police had insisted that there be one lane open to traffic. During one of the post-broadcast songs, a city bus had crawled down the street and stopped near the red light. Paul looked down and waved at the passengers, who must have been a little startled what they were seeing.
I saw Sir Paul Thursday night at MetLife Stadium in NJ. Magical show…his voice certainly shows signs of age and wear, but still sounds very good considering he turns 80 today, and his instrumental playing is still nearly perfect.
Bruce Springsteen came out to play two songs (including Glory Days) plus the encore, and Jon Bon Jovi came out to sing happy birthday and give Paul balloons. A great evening in every way.
You gotta have more marquee videos in here. It's a treat seeing a musical performance outside on Letterman.
Audioslave rocked that Marquee back in the day, an exceptional performance by them!
On the Ed Sullivan Theater playing Get Back. It's like poetry, it rhymes.
Happy Birthday, Sir Paul!!!!! This was so epic when he came to play again at the Ed Sullivan Theater! What an amazing event to see!
I'm late, but Happy 80th to the man, the myth, the legend...Sir Paul McCartney. Paul is proof that age is just a number.
You know you're getting on in years when the tribute to the historic rooftop concert has become iconic too. 13 years and counting...
Happy 80th to a musical genius
Perfect day for this ❤️💕❤️💕 Pauly's 80th birthday.
Happy birthday Paul! 80 trips around the Sun for Macca!
Happy BIRTDAY from your great Fan Ellen, from Germany 🥰🌹❤
Thank you for your so verry good Songs. 🤩
Yes, happy 80th Sir Paul! My two favorite songs are We Can Work it Out and Hello Goodbye 👍
Sounds great. The guy is jammin' on the Rhodes keys!
Happy 80th Birthday to you Sir Paul McCartney!
Paul playing this song in particular in this setting and then getting shut down by the cops is so great. Repeating history
Didn't see any cops there... what did you smoke? :)
It has a little more meaning after watching the Get Back documentary. Tough to write a song when you band members hearts are not there with you. Thanks team #Letterman and Happy 80th #PaulMcCartney
What do you mean by that? The band seems to like being in his band.
I was never a Beatles fan, but the rooftop performance from the late 60s, solidified in my mind they were more than a 60s boy band. Rock N' Roll 🤘
Best music presentation ever Dave
One beautiful voice.

we remember
Happy Birthday Paul! June 18 🎂
Google making it seem as if this happened yesterday, it was 13 years ago!
Paul obviously has a fascination performing in high places.
I was disappointed with the acoustics in the newly redesigned stadium in Syracuse a couple weeks ago.
Paul, the band and crew overcame some rough acoustic issues and put on a stellar show.
Of the then current late night talk show hosts, Letterman was different by design. All of the hosts had strengths and areas that could be improved upon, but, as I said Letterman did stunts and activities that were a breed apart. Anyone remember when David and Madonna had pizza at Angelo's next door?
I'm old enough to remember watching Ed Sullivan in black and white in the latter part of the 50's, when Sunday's was CBS night.
Mr. Letterman, you've done Ed Sullivan proud. Nobody else that I know of would have thought of this.
Dear Dave,
I am a former World Class Road Manager for Starland Vocal Band and Kenny Rogers. Also former World's Oldest Guitar Shaped Pool Boy! It has been over two years since we lost Kenny and I am hoping for me and his Fans that you start sharing some of the bits when he was on your show. Best Regards, Garth
P.S. Love the beard.
My son, when he was just a youngster, accidently bumped into a older gentleman while in a sandwich shop in Amagansett.
Little did he know who the man with the accent who apologized, was...

What are cool fun person
How the hell did I miss this?
It's fake news. This occurred 13 years ago! Google is making it seem as if it was yesterday
This had been sometime ago.

Paul couldn't have been better that day. After finishing the song, he even cleaned the leaves out of the marquee's gutters for Dave before climbing back down.
Ed Sullivans happy!
At least he was playing at the Ed Sullivan show the same theater when he was playing with the Beatles in his 20s in this video he like 68
👏🏽🌹👏🏽🌹👏🏽🌹👏🏽
ABE! ✌🏼
I wish Paul & Julian Lennon would do a show of Beetles songs... 🤔
Was it a free concert?

Sigh... I was working just a 15-minute walk away. If I had known about this...

I don't wanna be pedantic but the band isn't playing, 'on top of the Theatre Marquee'. They're clearly playing on a raised stage.....you can see the supports at 1:19 and at other times.
