i just love how the audience just listen attentively and dave not interrupting. Truly a legend sir paul.
Letterman's just a lower ranking freemason than Billy so he knows his place.
Paul is so polite and sweet. He doesn’t readily speak ill of people even when he would be justified doing so.
Above and beyond his talents, Paul is a genuinely caring individual. I have a friend who met him while eating in a restaurant shortly after her husband passed away. She talked to him and they hugged over her loss. Fame never went to his head.
He knew that heartache.
Sorry, but fame went to his head. They all went completely bonkers as a result of it.

Paul McCartney is the living definition of a regular guy with enormous talent.

they were sued for 10 songs, they settled on 6 of them.
He's the Most Successful Musician And Songwriter In History. And Rightly so. Towers over Elvis ,any Rapper, a 100 times over ,Michael Jackson,Ray Charles,James Brown,Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Johnny Cash , and so forth. Those guys are all great and they look small in comparison for overall talent, playing, diversity, writing, singing with his body of work.

@@vernpascal1531 Brian Wilson produced songs, as far as I know Paul didn't. I may b wrong. It was a very competitive song writing community at that time. I think Brian epstein should take a lot of the credit for teaching the beatles about song writing.
Paul is so gracious. He could have been nasty about the whole MJ thing but, he shows no anger here. What a stand up individual!
Ur right, cause Jackson basically screwed him over.
True. He has gratitude. Hes still done extremely well for himself.

Paul had lost the rights of his old songs and wanted to buy them back.
But Michael had a lot more money and bought them.
Tiny voices makes me laugh so hard 🤣
He don’t look back in anger
There's nobody else like Paul. I'm glad he's still with us. As a Bass player myself, he was a huge influence on me not only as a player but also as a singer and composer.
I thought silly love songs was a lame tune when i was a kid. But now that bass riff is great

@Joeh 1154 Funny you should say that.In the mid 60s I was 10 or so and learning guitar and diggin the music.I had even started a garage band,as kids do.In 67 I listened to Pepper at the wrong speed one day(45rpm).When an LP album is played at a faster speed the bass line becomes the prominent melody..apart from chipmonk vocals. It was at that moment it dawned on me how important the bass guitar was to any band.Anyway,Im still firstly a bass player to this day. There is no doubt that the bass playing on Pepper was a game changer for music,in many ways..even when played at the right speed!
@@JustTurned61 that was the era I grew up in. I took lessons on upright Bass before electric Bass which I was influenced by McCartney to play. I don't know if you play an instrument, but I think not. Loosen up bud, you'll give yourself agita.
Yes Paul McCartney is a great singer and glad he's still with us, Beatles a great group
I’ve always admired all the Beatles sense of humor. It’s such a charming quality in all of them.
It helped them get their first recording contract. After George Martin told them all that was wrong with their music and their playing he asked if they had anything to say. George said, " I don't like your tie." Martin cracked up and decided to sign them.
@@MaxyBoy-x9u Have a sense of humour and be willing to learn. Good advice!
weird how paul was great in the beatles but pretty much sucked by himself except for a few songs.

When I wrote my comment 3 months ago I had absolutely no idea that I’d be seeing this legend live for the first time just a few months later! - in just a couple days, June 12th in Baltimore! Very excited!
@@paulmontgomery9838 thanks - I had heard something in passing about the crazy false rumor about Paul from back in the day… but never read anything about it until looking up the name from your post! It’s really quite funny and insane (at the same time) what some people will believe lol!
Even as a 5 year old kid I knew this band was something special that night in 1964.
So did I! I was nervously clutching my Capitol 45 (with the picture sleeve) of "I Want to Hold Your Hand" on February 9, 1964, and when they performed on the Ed Sullivan show I knew they were even more fun to watch than to just hear.
This man never disappoints. He is always humble and humorous. He could be so the opposite. He remains the same Paul as the one who emerged with The Beatles back in 1964.
They made it in 63, not 64.
The only thing not the same about him? guess what that is , a stack of cash that could reach the Moon! Just thought I would throw that in there

Just a few years ago, I went to a McCartney concert. He played for 3 solid hours without even taking a sip of water. He's been one of a kind all the way through.
One evening I was driving past a music venue in SF area. I heard THE most beautiful voice I had ever heard and I was driving in my car with the windows down. We had traffic so I was able to just sit there for a about 5 minutes. I was stunned at the voice. It was Paul’s voice.
I did too. He played for 3 hours, played 6 string, Bass, ( killer bassist by the way) Uke, Piano, sang great and it was pretty incredible. Filled up the Reds baseball park easily. Ive seen dozens of bands and none could top his show.

Saddest thing about watching videos like these is having not watched Paul and John grow old together, hopefully mended whatever troubles there were between them and have them reflect on the way they shaped pretty much all music today.
Paul kept harping on John, unfortunately, for many years. That was so sad.
They already had settled all their differences well before John died. Years before, even.
This brings back so many wonderful memories for me. I was definitely a Beatlemaniac. I lovingly created scrapbooks of Beatles pictures, cards, articles etc. I still have (and play) my Beatles albums. And the best - I saw the Beatles at Shea Stadium in August 1966 when I was 15.
Paul's memory had faded a little in 2009 when this show aired. The Beatles' first appearance on the Sullivan show was in 1964. That night 73 million people watched, as he said. However, he did not play "Yesterday" that night. They played Sullivan three times in 1964. "Yesterday" was released in 1965. Still, an interview with a Beatle is an "event".
Don't forget this man was not yet in the beatles in 1964
Paul's warm, friendly, wise personality and sense of humor has not changed in 60 years, the same fast clever wit that he had back in his twenties. All four of them were like that, and when they came bouncing into a room together it was like a fun bomb going off.
I'll simply say I enjoy his music very much, and a bonus I see he is a warm human being. Thank you Paul.
I respect him for not speaking ill of the dead and bad mouthing MJ even though there was some drama between the two of them. He was very mature and respectful while talking about it
Especially since Michael had passed away less than a month before this interview.

They thought they were arriving at the same time as the President or the Pope. That's Why! they were looking around in stunned amazement as they descended the staircase. Interesting Trivia: Lindbergh was similarly surprised when he landed in Paris, 1927. He thought he was landing in the middle of a circus, he had no idea the Parisians were there to greet HIM! It never ceases to amaze me when these interviewers don't ask anything about the creative talent that came out of Paul's collaboration with the other Beatles. Paul honored Dave Letterman, by performing with his band atop the studio marquee to a crowd of tens of thousands in the street. One of Macca's hottest performances! In the 1970s I owned an original 1964 Hofner Violin Bass like Paul's. Recorded lots of songs with that incredibe guitar as a session bassist & singer at Warner Brothers Studios! Knowing our producer, Dan Wallin, recorded sessions with George Harrison made our sessions extra special. We musicians were all HUGE Beatles fans.
At the time, Warner Brothers was producing the film, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" with The Bee Gees and Peter Frampton.
