"And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make" - the closing statement by The Beatles. So great and so true. They left with a great closing statement
I want this song played at my funeral. 😢 Getting back homeward hits different in your mid 50’s. When I saw Paul McCartney in concert I think I cried so hard because I knew I was watching a legend. Love him.
This song is a musical masterpiece. Like all the songs of The Beatles the music and their meanings are beyond profound. For me this lyric says it all, “And in the end, the love you make is equal to the love you take.”
This trio of songs will always bring a tear to my eyes. A large part of that feeling is just the gratitude I feel for having been privileged to have the Beatles to grow up with.
I was born in 1953 and was the perfect age to grow up with the Beatles. I remember their early albums (in mono, no less!) selling for .99 cents at the A&P grocery store. Every 6 months, like clockwork, they'd release a new album or single that, incredibly, was better than their previous songs. "She Loves You," I Feel Fine, "Paperback Writer," "Help!" "A Day In the Life," They just seemed to get better and better with every passing year. Our minds were constantly being blown by these four "mop tops," who came out of nowhere and changed popular music forever. We just took it for granted that it would never end, or at least, I did. And then, when I turned 16, it suddenly ended. But, man, what a ride!!
@@scifiwriter98 So you were born the same year as my older brother. I was born in 1955 and we were on that same ride. Saw A Hard Day’s Night at one of 3 downtown movie theaters. Every Christmas was a no-brainer as to what to get for each other. Beatles album! What a ride indeed.
@@scifiwriter98 I was born in '50, and when the Beatles happened, I was enthralled. The first album, the black one, called "Meet the Beatles" here, I hitchhiked to the nearest town that had a record shop and bought it. I was 13. I'm now in my 70s, and I still have all my Beatles albums. That first album was not in stereo, but HiFi.
I remember being completely fascinated by Tomorrow Never Knows. I'd sit next to the record player in the basement and play it over and over, trying to imagine where those weird sounds came from. Twelve-year-old kids today stare at their phone screens all day. That's progress for you.
asi es, suerte mia que se presento en chile hace un par de semanas y pude verlo, un deseo hecho realidad, poder escuchar las canciones que uno tanto canto en karaokes y fiestas ahora cantadas por quien las creo.

That Comet that streaked across our skies in the mid sixties and created what was the greatest musical sea-change ever seen, will never come around again. How very fortunate that we were here to hear it, live amongst its brightness, and hear it repeated from now until the end of time. When you consider what passes for "music" these days, you realize what a bolt of genius Lennon and McCartney were.
"sleep pretty darling, do not cry" are the prettiest lyrics to this song. As a grown man they still touch me since I fell in love with this song as a boy.
@Anthony Marks LOL-- truth--- LOL. I ALWAYS think of " Her Majesty" as not being there at all, yet it WAS there and you are 100% right lolol---- but also, if we think about that and then we look at the actual chronology of when the albums got released since " Let It Be" was actually the last Beatles album ever "released", it waters down the effect of the chilling irony of this songs words being the last lyrics on Side Two on the last Beatles album ever released lol. There is a GREAT line from the very end of " The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" that says "When Legend Becomes Fact, Print The Legend". This is a GREAT example, yet in my mind , I still choose to believe the LEGEND, if that makes sense, because I LOVE the Beatles !!!!!
“And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love, you make” - the last line on the last Beatles album ever recorded. Always brings a tear to my eye
I’m 70 years old and am just wondering if my children, in 50 years time, will be able to look into their old iPads and listen to today’s music with the same reverence? The quality of music during my life has been incredible.
They definitely will. There’s amazing music still being made today by brilliant artists, it just may not be for you. And that’s ok! The generation before you thought the Beatles were pop junk too, that’s just the cyclical nature of life.
Paul has a game face. Humble isn't in his makeup, you just have to watch the Get Back series. It's great, but it shows Paul's ego very well. One of the best people on the planet? Doubtful. He's reputedly a cheapskate and a capricious one at that, ask some of his former Wings bandmates. Gracious? He's documented being an intoxicated arsehole. To me, the question is: what does having the world hail you as a genius from the age of 22 or so, and at the same time, want a piece of you, do to you as a person? Linda was often very unhappy in that marriage. James, his son, has some serious emotional problems. As a songwriter, or at least a melodicist, he is probably without parallel in the 20th century. As a human being, well, let's just say sometimes meeting your 'hero' can be a disappointment. And as much as he'd like to put the breakup on John, it was Paul who nixed the plan for 4 songs each separately, 2 for Ringo, which was proposed about a week or so before John left.
@@PreacherAtArrakeen agreed! Don't get me started on Mother Teresa! She was a total tool as well. She went and lived with the poor in Calcutta. If you hear it from them she wasn't invited and stayed well past her welcome
It’s kind of weird to think that Paul was 27 when Abbey Road came out, and now he’s 77. He looks really good for his age, and it’s so funny that he’s still selling out arenas and making amazing music well into his seventies, when according to the Sgt. Pepper’s album, 64 was considered beyond old. How times have changed.
One of the best pieces of rock music ever written. The Beatles were musicians nonpareil and they influenced almost every genre of music, from rock to jazz to pop to classical. Would have been so interesting to see what their collective collaborations would have brought in the 70s, especially with the added influence of George, who played a larger role in their music towards then end. And what a cast playing this masterpiece!
Yes they are an influential band and had influenced other pop and rock bands. But seriously mate, they never influenced jazz music and classical music those 2 are very different kind of music than what the beatles put out. You could say classical music influenced some of the beatles work because George Martin who is their producer was a classically trained pianist but the beatles did not influence jazz music or classical music. Saying they did is just isn't right.
And to think it was all just a hodgepodge of leftover bits of song from the let it be sessions. John Lennon hated this side of the album. Said it was just a collection of McCartney’s junk unfinished songs. I always thought it was epic
I’m so thankful to God. That I was born in the 60’s. And was able to experience the best music of that era. I can never get tired of hearing the Beatles music. It will live on forever. Because it’s just that good! ❤️🧡💛💚💙🖤🤍🤎
"You Never Give Me Your Money" is one of my favourite Beatles songs. Its melody is poignantly beautiful and it moves you emotionally. It's hard to separate this from "Golden Slumbers" and "Because" as being the best tracks from "Abbey Road". Though I concede that picking a favourite song from the Beatles catalogue is a near impossible task, because their quality was so outstandingly consistent. The "Fab Four" are incomparable. They were unique. A one off. We will never experience anything like them again. They changed the world, not only in music, but the flow-on effects on other areas of society too.
There's a recording (vocals only) of "Because" out there with them doing six part harmony; John, Paul and George. They've talked about it, rarely, but didn't actually release it. Someone did, maybe M.J. when he owned the catalogue.
@@albertschepis You're welcome, Albert. You may already know this, but most of their bootlegged material was consolidated ( legally ) onto their "Anthology" series of CD's. And you can listen to them here on RUclips.

The band alone is incomparable; Eric, Mark, Phil. The orchestra being conducted by George Martin. The background chorus. All in the Grand Albert Hall. And leading the way with the greatest medley he ever wrote, the unmatched and never to be surpassed Sir Paul McCartney.. really, it just doesn't get any better!!
Sorry to hear that, brother. I'm sure your wife is in a better place now and that she was loved to the end and beyond. "And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make."
Not sure why exactly, but seeing George Martin there conducting makes me emotional and just warms my heart. He was an absolute genius and deserves all the credit for The Beatles’ perfection that he receives (notwithstanding John’s ridiculous comments during a period when he was pissy at everyone and everything not named Yoko). My respect for Paul, which otherwise could not be higher, was increased even more by the respect he always gave George Martin. (Plus, if you see any old pictures or film of the band in the studio, George Martin was always impeccably dressed; the best, most timeless fashion sense IMO.)
@@rjo9113 I wouldn’t say twisted, but he was bitter as hell. Somebody said that John never got to grow into an old man, to grow out of his young snotty and bitter phase. I think he would’ve turned around.
GEORGE MARTIN WAS THE BRAIN, HEART AND SOUL BEHIND THE INCREDIBLE CAREER OF THE BEATLES. HE TAUGHT THEM HOW TO EVOLVE TOWARD A NEW KIND OF MUSIC SINCE REVOLVER. HE BROUGHT TO THEM CLASS, ELEGANCE, CLASSIC BACKGROUND (BACH, BEETHOVEN, MOZART, ETC.). PLUS HE WAS THE ABSOLUTE MASTER OF MIXING (ALONG WITH HIS VERY TALENTED ENGINEERS, LIKE ALAN PARSONS). HE TAUGHT THEM HOW TO BLEND STYLES IN POP SONGS. ALSO, HE AND JOHN HAD A INCREDIBLE SENSE OF PATHOS, WHICH MADE THEIR MUSIC EXTRAORDINARILY MYSTIC, SAD, DEEP, UNFORGETTABLE. JUST THINK ABOUT "IN MY LIFE", OR "GIRL" OR "STRAWBERRY FIELDS" OR ........... AND PAUL EMERGED FROM THAT EPOCH AS A GREAT COMPOSER, IN PARTICULAR WITH HIS MELODIES (LIKE A JUGLAR). RESPECT TO ALL AND EVERYONE OF THEM. BUT GEORGE MARTIN REALLY WAS THE FIFTH BEATLE. NOBODY CREDITED HIM AS HE REALLY DESERVED IN HIS LIFE AT EMI.
I lost a friend yesterday. This was his favorite song and he asked my husband, a pianist, to play it for him for his 40th. He passed a few months later. I’m so sad.

There's a lot of classic albums. And people will argue forever over their own preferences. The three that stand out for me as the "best of the best" are "Abbey Road" ( simply sublime, and what a swansong to finish their career with ! ), and the two from Pink Floyd -"Dark Side Of The Moon" and "The Wall".
I read in a magazine back in the mid 80s a Q&A with Phil Collins and he was asked what his favourite album was. Side 2 of Abbey Road was his answer. To play on this must have been very fulfilling as a professional I would imagine.
Before the Beatles, rock & roll was viewed as kid's music, fluff, a passing fad. The Beatles changed rock & roll into serious art, loved by kids & adults, and everyone in between - all over the world. Like them or not, and personally I don't see how it's possible to *not* like them, it is *not* possible to overstate their influence. They changed EVERYTHING.
My wife and I adopted our youngest son born prematurely and drug addicted and a special song became all that more special I held him all those early day rocking him and holding on for dear life
I always wonder if he thinks of Linda when he sings this. He held her as she died and he said, “ You’re on your Appaloosa horse…” and she took her last breath as he painted the picture for her.” They had such a beautiful love story. Much love Sir Paul and Lady Linda.

100% correct. Well Boy George is a close. . . . .
The Kinks were pretty damn close, and the The Who too. The Who influenced a bunch of well known bands like Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Aerosmith, ACDC, Rush, Green Day, Oasis, and so many more. The Kinks inspired so many bands too. Inspired punk rock, garage rock, and hard rock. Hugely influential, just deeply under appreciated in their hay day. But these are all 60’s bands. This trio of songs will always bring a tear to my eyes. A large part of that feeling is just the gratitude I feel for having been privileged to have the
Beatles to grow up with.

Linda was often very unhappy in that marriage.
James, his son, has some serious emotional problems.
As a songwriter, or at least a melodicist, he is probably without parallel in the 20th century. As a human being, well, let's just say sometimes meeting your 'hero' can be a disappointment.

Well you never know...
They probably said that in 1791 (when Mozart passed on). Only had to wait 150 years.

"You Never Give Me Your Money" is one of my favourite Beatles songs. Its melody is poignantly beautiful and it moves you emotionally. It's hard to separate this from "Golden Slumbers" and "Because" as being the best tracks from "Abbey Road". The "Fab Four" are incomparable. They were unique. A one off. We will never experience anything like them again. They changed the world, not only in music, but the flow-on effects on other areas of society too.

And I will sing a lullaby
Once there was a way to get back homeward
Once there was a way to get back home
Sleep pretty darling do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby
Boy, you're gonna carry that weight
Carry that weight a long time
Boy, you're gonna carry that weight
Carry that weight a long time
I never give you my pillow
I only send you my invitations
And in the middle of the celebrations
I break down
Boy, you're gonna carry that weight
Carry that weight a long time
Boy, you're gonna carry that weight
Carry that weight a long time
Oh yeah, all right
Are you gonna be in my dreams
Tonight
And in the end
The love you take
Is equal to the love you make
Absolutely incredible performance. Paul, Eric, Phil, Mark, and George Martin.....all with such incredible talent. It's a timeless song that with live on forever.
Phil who?
What year was this recorded?
@@George-ok6zt Phil Collins was on the drums. I do not know what year it was .
A musician, a gentleman,a genius : his music will never die.
The Beatles music helped me through a lot of hard times
Genius, in hundreds of years from now they will be talking about Mozart, Bach, Beethoven and McCartney in the same breath.
The year is 2020 and I’m watching this! Anyone else? What a Lineup of some of the Best Artists in the World! Wow 😮
Me... in 2021. Same I did in 1970
And I'm 66...
August 2021….shockingly, someone on Roblox told me about this. That’s why I’m here. 💕
@@pattyeflavio23 me too 2021 and 66. Loved them since Feb 1964 when I first saw them on Ed Sullivan. Have never been disappointed. Saw Sir Paul in Concert at Lambeau Field. In Green Bay 6.8.2019. Waited 55 years to see him live. A dream come true. I couldn't stop smiling the entire concert Now I can die a happy woman! Lol
This man has given so much pleasure to millions of people all over the world !!!
He deserved being assisted by other music genius. But he'll stay forever in the Pantheon.
God bless you Sir Paul !
Billions ☺️❤
I lost my son 4 years ago and my Dad lost his wife (my mom) after 61 years also. I honor their memory and keep them in my heart and thoughts everyday. Hang in their my friend.❤️
Kevin, I am so sorry to hear that. I lost my son in 2007. My mom also passed away in `2013 and my Dad in the 70s. I look forward to seeing them all again.
This massive grandiosity of the ending of the song completely destroys me every time. And because of that something going on in the air, I love it and keep on wanting for more.
By far, the #1 musical genius of my lifetime and I am 63 yrs old. He was 75% of the Beatles.
25%
Don't discredit Lenin and George.
40% Lennon
40% Macca
19% Harrison
1% Ringo
That's how many souls it takes to fill the Albert Hall.Amazing
"holes" there's at least 7 per person ;) souls is not mentioned. but bums on seats would mean something else. or it could mean journalists arselochen;)
What a perfect statement! That's how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall
🥰another fav song of theirs
They had to count them all!!!
That is a wonderful witty comment! Love it! (Wish I’d thought about it first)
The Beatles changed music forever, thank you
and me
Paul McCartney is the greatest living pop musician. Golden tunes. Just a total institution that needs to be recognised while he is still going.
I feel sorry for the youth of today with what they have to listen to,all the good tunes have been written.the beatles will live forever.
Agree
I’m 18 now and went through a full Beatles moment aged 16
I have a deep deep appreciation for the band and their music and I think every teen should have a Beatles phase and feel the beautiful influence of these masterpieces
to say all the good tunes have already been written is ignorance and juvenoia. old people said the same thing about the beatles when they were popular, now we see how amazing and legendary they were. there are still plenty of great artists that are popular right now
@@too.motley Any recommendations ?
Seán Cena john mayer, sam smith, ed sheeran are all master songwriters, even if it is pop music
