Amazing how the harmonies sound like The Beach Boys- Talent for talent. Pure Paul. Wonder what Johnny would’ve thought? ‘Ere Paul lad, get outta my city’ 😂🤔😎
Paul's got more going on at 70 than most rockers out there at 28. He is simply phenomenal. If anything, he has let loose on his songs a lot more in his later years.
This is all Paul, as was "Helter Skelter" and many others that might seem to be Lennon tunes. In the end, Paul had the greater song-writing and musical talent, but the collaboration (which had stopped by this point) brought each man's songs to final fruition and lent each of their compositions that special quality neither achieved alone.
On the original studio recording, which Paul wrote and sang lead on, Paul also played the drums, the only Beatles song on which he played the drums. And of course, the song is a sendup of the Beach Boys' California Girls
@QueenBeatlesWings THANKS!! I remember seeing teh drummer in the Russian concerts - and he was very impressive then also!!!! But like most of the really good musicians - they all end up in McCartney's band - sooner or later!!!!!!! Just part of teh extras of being a touring ledgend!!!!!!!
@pasJL I just checked this and you're right! I wonder why, all these decades, I thought that was Lennon. Sounds more like a Lennon song to me, I guess. Lennon and McCartney were quite distinct toward the end, just writing their own songs, and whomever did most of the writing usually sang the lead (even earlier, there was a bit of that, with McCartney singing lead on "I Saw Her Standing There" and Lennon doing so on "I Want to Hold Your Hand" to cite their very best record as an example).

I'd bet even money - that the guitar player was not even born when McCartney was pumping out hits withteh Beatles!!!!!!!! I REALLY like the drummer - who is he? I know he was in teh Russian tour!!!!!
@pasJL I could've sworn Lennon sang lead on this on some major recording somewhere along the line. Unlikely, though, if it was basically a McCartney song. They never performed each others' work after the Beatles broke up. By the way, it's kind of heinous the way McCartney grabs credit for everything he can now that Lennon's not around to defend himself. It's a war for credit between McCartney and a corpse, a long war that he would never be fighting had Lennon not been killed.
Kinda madness singing about USSR girls in New York City, no wonder the band's playing above the theater instead of inside, it would be like 'band on the run'... actually everyone appears to be happy to be listening to the first British icon even before the Rolling Stones (love 'em mostest btw that's for praising the Russian beauties in NY)
@tlatosmd He dominates them absolutely, they have to request permission to make any creative contribution whatsoever, which was not the way the Beatles did business.
@julian1775 Sounds too rock and roll for McCartney to me, that was more Lennon's purview while McCartney did more ballads and sweet-ish stuff (so accessible and non-threatening to the radio mainstream and women), but there were exceptions on both sides to that, of course.
Best version of this song yet, that drummer really nails it.
Abe Laborial jr. Yeah, he's in the zone.
Be glad that you have lived to see him. As we study Brahams, Bach and Beethoven - future generations will study the music of Paul McCartney!!!!!!!!
Sir PAUL McCARTNEY, YOU ARE THE GUY, FABULOUS!!!!!
im only 30 nd drunk but wow... brings a tear to the eye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing how the harmonies sound like The Beach Boys- Talent for talent. Pure Paul. Wonder what Johnny would’ve thought? ‘Ere Paul lad, get outta my city’ 😂🤔😎
First time I heard this song, so many many years ago, it swept me of my feet, .....still does btw ;-)
Excellent! What a great venue - glad the porch could hold them all. Great crowd!
I was there!

Ставьте лайк те, кто смотрит видео из бывшего СССР!!!!

he isn't playing his original bass line which was so funky! took me months to learn.
SIR Paul - simply unique!
FANTASTICCC!!!!!
classy guy! A down to earth, clean cut good/bad boy, and a SIR all rolled into one.
On the original studio recording, which Paul wrote and sang lead on, Paul also played the drums, the only Beatles song on which he played the drums. And of course, the song is a sendup of the Beach Boys' California Girls
+Carol Lipton And played piano.
Wow, that's amazing
+Carol Lipton I believe he played drums on The Ballad Of John and Yoko and Dear Prudence too !
Leo Humphries I didn't know this. Thanks.
+Carol Lipton "Why Don't We Do It In The Road?" he played drums too

@Earthlinked Very, very true. They changed music.
Paul even played drums on the original recording! (Ringo had briefly "quit" the band)
best part of this vid, no paul shaeffer sitting in lol
@JoEsp Wasn't he on the Russian tour last year?
Only 1 word to say about his drumming - DAMN!!!!!!!
Hey all you young drummers out there, watch listen and learn.
@QueenBeatlesWings
Pail is from june 18 1942.
Muzica e fantastică , cred că nu știți încă cu cine aveți de a face . Toată lumea va deveni un URSS
Also about airlines that don't exist anymore.
"Well the Ukraine girls really knock me out, they leave RUSSIA behind"
@Earthlinked
Yeah!! that's the great Abe Laboriel Jr..!!
"This is about a place who didn't exist no more" not for a long time Paul ....
Well, naturally, I wish Paul could be here :D It would be a lot easier than "wishing you were here" :D
@Onlymusical lennon hadn't sung this song. it's a mccartney one!
@Onlymusical To me, this song sounds clearly like a Paul's song. I mean, 100%. Listen to the melodies. It doesn't sound like John's songs at all.
I'd bet even money - that the guitar player was not even born when McCartney was pumping out hits withteh Beatles!!!!!!!! I REALLY like the drummer - who is he? I know he was in teh Russian tour!!!!!

@QueenBeatlesWings
Wings broke up in 1979,but you are right:
Abe is a great drummer.
Lovely USSR !!!
2009? Why did he just do the Mo-Bot at 3:10?
I"m back too !
PAUL

I wonder what it feels like for Paul playing with kids that weren't even born when he dissolved the Wings?
@Rickenbacker350V63 that is called being humble. There wouldn't of been a Pet Sounds if it wasn't for The Beatles
I wish I saw him here in San Francisco Outland concert. He's a rocker fer sure. And the guy who drove by? Clueless!
@julian1775 Sounds too rock and roll for McCartney to me, that was more Lennon's purview while McCartney did more ballads and sweet-ish stuff (so accessible and non-threatening to the radio mainstream and women), but there were exceptions on both sides to that, of course.
Weird to hear McCartney sing this instead of Lennon. Kind of like if you could hear Lennon sing "Yesterday."
Johns home town**************************************************

Was BOAC really that bad?
Yes , if you travelled on the planes in the '60's . The planes where small , planes today are luxurious by today standards
