Great video guys. Good to see an Xtrail out there doing it tough. Just for info, the T31 diesel has a turbo boost control solenoid which chatters. That's the nosie you can hear in this video. I have this model and I've replaced 3 solenoids in as many years. They're not particularly reliable but the turbo itself is robust. Mine also has the 6 speed automatic transmission, and even here in Europe, the transmission won't shift into 6th gear unless the vehicle speed is at 130 kph. You can get up to 120 kph though, and as long as you are on a straight level road, you can lift your foot off the accelerator briefly and the transmission will shift into 6th. As mentioned here in the comments, you can also shift manually. If Nissan is telling Australian owners that they changed the transmission shifting pattern in the software just for the Australian market, it is an absolute load of crap! I've been following forums and read all the comments and complaints about this and other issues. What surprises me though, is that anyone who is capable of doing a computer software remap should be able to adjust the shift patterns also. If they are able to delete the DPF and EGR choking hazards, then they should be able to alter shift patterns as well. Anyway, that's my 2 bob worth. The T31 is a great all rounder and is certainly capable out in the scrub.

Wow impressif, i just have xtrail t31 with 2wd and mr20 engine code, i wish have 4wd part for my t31, because in my country nissan just sell t31 in option 2wd and 2 variant gasoline engine mr20 and qr25

@@poordirk2710I don't think they have one. As far as I know it's the variable vanes in the turbo fluttering as you back off the throttle. Mine certainly doesn't have one but makes the same unmistakable sound when I give it the beans...😂😂
I think they sound great, and are probably one of the best compact off roaders out there. Mine takes a thrashing and goes anywhere I point it. Great videos by the way, keep them coming. 😊

I wanna say its all driver skill but actually the beast really punches way above its weight off road. Planning a trip on the Conny Sue track December should be epic . Check out my video on the Callcup Hill Exit thats pretty cool too
When the x-trail is CVT, use manual mode to pass through march + lock, the behaviors improve in that condition. Great video!
The T31 diesels did not have any CVT-s
Another interesting fact about th 6speed AT was that the Australian release Nissan changed the selection curve in the gear box to only go to 5 speed auto and the 6th speed changed at 130kph ! or manually change it as desired above 90kph. This was to reduce the clogging of the DPF because it wouldn't heat up hot enough to do an automatic burn when the average Joe does soccer and school runs.
@@poordirk2710 I have the Euro Facelift and it changes to 6th ca 110km/h

@@poordirk2710 from factory. But I have also an engine tune to 130kw+egr delete. That did not change the shifting speed.
I believe that the pre-facelift ones (2007-2010) in the europe have it ca 110-115km/h shifting point to 6th.

Too many x-trail fans in here. I'm looking to buy one this week so looking for reviews. this motor is not suitable to this terrain. it doesn't have the clearance, it doesn't have lockable Diff fron or back and the tyres on this just aren't suitable
You can't cook a pizza in a microwave, doesn't mean the microwave is crap.
diesel motor is the best for this terrain brother low revs high torque. No locking front diff but remeber Im not rock climbing it at the end of the day its an Xtrail.

I've had my 2009 T31 6AT since new. My Classic 1999 Range Rover however would not have got stuck in any of those places. I love the refinement for everyday driving in the Nissan, but the Range Rover wins for offroad ability

Xtrail dont have locking differential they do have electronic centre lock that enages all 4 wheels up to 40kph otherwise its electronic all wheel drive,
The driver doesn't let the 4x4 system do its job, you have to let the wheels slip for some time
Thanks for the advice however this location I was bottoming out in the rut regardless of the 4x4 available if the wheels aren't touching the ground you don't go anywhere :P The ruts are from weekend warriors running 32"s tearing up the track ruts as deep at 900mm !!
I think you should have considered raising up the car. Seems it struggles because of the low ground clearance.
She is on kings 20mm lifted springs but Im not interested in more lift .. This video I was just playing around I knew the obstacles where going to be too hard for her It was more about having fun getting dirty.

Its the same beast.. Are you in Aus? The secret is baby steps. Lower your tire pressures to 25psi not too low.. and just drive gently. Use your centre locker and put your gear selector into manual mode,, 1 or second gear go slow .. Mometum is your friend but dont break anything.. Its a fine line!

Nt31 ground clearance was the main issue. Check on that.
Im at 300mm on a 20mm lift kit and dont forget XT dont have huge diffs and drive trains hanging out the bottome so its a pretty good clearance. I was driving on the Powerlines track after the big boys and their 33's have torn up the place so ruts at 500mm are common. The rut i drove into was for visual effect I never expected her to make it thru but I have been surpirsed in the past.
What rims do you have on your Xtrail? Pretty nice.

Am so much interested with the diesel model, Since you bought it, have you ever had any issues with turbo failure??
Its a Garret turbo very reliable even after over 200,000km the turbo is smooth and tight no issues

no low range just centre "lock" up to 40kph then electronic AWD its awesome
Does this car have a center diff lock? It’s really struggling in extreme offroad conditions

Hello all..iv T30 diesel with yd22 engine
Rebuilt engine. Changed flywheel, cluth, turbo serviced, injectors serviced, im having knocking sound when accelerate ,white smoke and poor acceleration..can anyone advise???

@@poordirk2710 in my country x trail is very rare, the car cannot be sent to dealer as they cost way too much..so i cant know if the mechanic i sent did a great job..but basing on the probs, can you atleast if you know tell me what might wrong? So i can start from there..

As this is diesel Xtrail T31 model, how do you deal with diesel particulate filter ( DPF) that sometimes getting clogged and the car goes to limp mode at 60 or 80mph?
Its has automatic burn you dont do anything. Any diesel needs to be driven the issues are usually when you only drive to the shops and back. Also i have deleted EGR does help. Oil catchcan helps. And Nissan has shipped this model to Australia they changed the gear change point in the computer (Cannot be changed back) so you dont engage 6th gear until 132kph unless manually. This apparently helps with DPF burn when the average joes is driving in local traffic. My next trip is about 5000km...
@@poordirk2710 As you have put tent on top and tyre carrier definately the weight of the vehicle has increased, is it climbing hills without struggling ??
@@poordirk2710 i have this Xtrail T31 but gasoline and uses CVT, MR20 DE engine, CC 1990. But when you travell long journeys like 300km to 400km, the car would start making whinning noise, because the CVT is overheating, lacking power, getting to limp mode at 80mph or 100mph. So i want to switch to the diesel model. Is the diesel model not having those issues?

I have new XTrail.. i wonder whether my new Xtrail have same power as ur Xtrail.
New like 2023 model? I think yours would be alot more powerful. I have Diesel model though so I will hav ebetter low down torque than a petrol model same year and I have traditional 6 speed auto gearbox not the cvt arguably a better option over cvt.

X trail has the worst 4x4 system, anyway it's a soft off-roader, you guys are trying extreme, the chassis will tear like paper..

There are worse 4x4 systems from the same era. The X-Trail hat least has a center lock.

Да это не рамный внедорожник,но он очень и очень не плох в грязи.Пока он не ляжет на дно-он будет ехать,автор данного видео либо боится на педаль газа жать либо не отключил ESP.
У меня есть данный автомобиль с дизельным мотором и механической трансмиссией-и он не только меня удивляет своими возможностями в грязи.
Купите себе УАЗ и туда загоните а не нисан
