No other RUclipsr would do all this in one episode. They would break em up for more views.Great content from start to finish. I'm hooked. Keep em coming 😊😊
More videos More views likes and comments = more money that's why but usually it's the bigger channels who do it small channels like these it's just pointless
It's actually because youtube heavily encourages it. The algorithm goes heavily on watch time and consistent uploads, 6 20 minute videos are more likely to have higher engagement (total time of the video watched) than a 2 hour video which will promote the video more (which you'd be encouraged to do to not potentially waste their filming/editting time). If youtube didn't encourage shitty practices like clickbait, splitting videos up into multiple videos and padding out the video it would happen so much less.
@@JCglitchmaster It also depends on your own possibilities. If I produced 2 hour long videos, maybe one or two videos a year would come onto my channel.
I started watching this on Monday and today I've bought a MK1 Audi TT (225). Almost everything you did needs to be done on my new car. Looking forward to getting stuck in. Expect about a dozen views from me trying to copy what you did! 😀 *Update - car dismantled. A lot of oil! Pcv system had been "deleted" and many perished pipes. I now have new silicon pipes and all the parts I need to restore this lovely car back to a mechanically sound vehicle!
What a transformation! Thank you for the long form step-by-step on this. I've always loved the mk1 and I am looking to get my first TT in the next couple of months.
There isn't a video of yours that I don't watch where I'm not chuckling along - Your sense of humor and the delivery is so dry and fast - Love it - Lovely car too!
Wow that Audi T T looks amazing what you have done to it I even like the videos of the Ford Capri and your other videos the are brilliant I love watching
When these came out, they were so different, and stunning to look at. Couple of years later we bought one, for 16 grand. We had the 225 version with twin exhausts. Hands down the best car I ever owned. The quality of the car was outstanding, and it was quick. Owned BMW’s, rx8, and now I have an Audi a3 saloon S line, but the TT was special. Such a fantastic thing.
Ben, mate...what an absolute stunner of a car! Massively enjoyed this episode. I gotta admit, I prefer your long videos as they are more immersive and totally feel like we take the journey with you. Simply put, you're a genius with motors. Your humour and ease before the lens, plus your resourcefulness make wonderful viewing. Thanks for all the time you invest so we can enjoy these awesome 2nd chance jam jars.
I bought for my wife a 52 plate, 2002 Audi TT 225 in this colour, Silbersee metallic, obviously with twin exhausts, black leather, Bose & a 6 CD changer and low mileage (6k) in 2004. It was the first “sort of premium” car we’d ever had. She kept it until 2006, when she totally changed preferences and got a Rangerover Evoque. The TT sold for £1500 in 2016, only two owners and around 100k miles. It looked almost as good as it drove away as it had the day we picked it up from an Audi dealer twelve years earlier. The paint was bulletproof. Nothing major had been replaced, still on the original clutch, though all brakes had been replaced. Coil packs also towards the end as idle had become erratic and it wasn’t TB related. It ate tyres though and was vulnerable to punctures from rubbish country roads. Other than that, it was totally reliable, never failing to proceed. Oh, it used to eat front sidelight bulbs, which I put down to slight corrosion in the lamp holders and dodgy earths. And door micro switches that drop the windows a few mm when opened, and rolled them up upon closing the doors. Instead of replacing the entire door locking mechanism, the Audi recommended fix, I created & installed positive return springs under the micro switches. A square of the plastic from dart flights was bent to form a Z-fold & superglued into place. As it proved, this was a permanent solution & I never even needed to replace the homemade return springs. Genuinely cannot think of anything else going wrong in well over a decade & nominally entire life of the car.
What a bargain you got Ben! A lot of car for very little money. When I blend paint on a panel I never spray right up to the tape - try not to get any base or clear up to the tape, for the base colour coat and clear i just lift the gun or the can away from the surface gradually towards the edges of the main repair. That way i find i get a much more gradual change from the old to new. I do that for both the clear and the colour, though obviously i take the clear out a bit further. Where i lift the gun or can away towards the edges of the clear coat it can look a bit dry, but that is where that can of blending thinners does it's magic, the slightest whiff of that stuff will blend the new clear to the old giving it a lovely shine. Looking forward to seeing you taking it around the ring - hope it's a dry day for you - though with the four wheel drive you will have fun either way!
In 07 I bought an 05 TT 3.2L Quattro SLine with DSG and only 14k miles. I’ve had it for 18 years. For most of that time, it’s been the lowest cost of ownership car I’ve ever owned. Just recently decided to give it a refresh and fix problems related to being parked outdoors. Re-did the headliner, had the roof and rear deck painted. Replaced the AC compressor. Ignition coils. Replaced the headlights that were all opaqued and had some wires rat bit. It runs like a top. 250 hp and the best exhaust note of any TT. I love my TT. Couple of points- There is a release cable for the rear hatch either in the tunnel under the cup holder, or in the rear set. And a release for the fuel filler behind the access door for the right side tail light. Sometime just locking and unlocking the car door with the key a couple times will reset the electronic controls for the windows, release buttons etc. The radio safe code can be found in the car documentation if it came with the car. ( like if the window is not opening a little and closing when you open and close the door ) And with Quattros- it’s really important that left and right tires match in wear/diameter. So if you replace, say, the left front, replace the right front at the same time. Same for the rear tires, replace them in matching pairs. If they don’t match, that alone can cause some ABS/EPS issues.
Its Still A Hoover was perfect. Never a truer word spoken. What a wonderful thing. This channel just is genius. The T-shirt looks great. Oh and I love the Audi.
Just come across while being admitted in hospital and enjoying all the videos love there not broken up and you just seem a genuinely good sound guy love the channel
I absolutely love the song and band promotion thing, touring and gigging is so expensive these days therefore exposure is impossible for some young acts. Absolutely love it, well done Ben!!
My step dad had one of these after selling his house. Loved the car. He made it from cambridgeshire to devon in 2 and a half hrs flat out after a family emergency. I remember there being no room in the back and the front seats were really low down. Nice mate brought back some memories 👌
SUPERB WORK! I bought a Mk2 Silver TT convertible a couple of years ago that was in a similar mess! I had seen a Mk1 restoration like this and how things just worked after a bit of cleaning and servicing. And how refined it was, and how clean underneath etc...and I decided I wanted one and a Mk2 with all the bells and whistles. Which I got, heated leather seats, AC, Full electric roof, 2L turbo etc. But it was an utter mess, dirt, grime, moss green hood, every panel was scratched, the interior had broken bits of trim or missing trim and looked like skip, full of rubbish. I spent about 3 months restoring and cleaning. I got all the panels pristine via electric polish, fully serviced it, restored the roof, fixed or replaced the broken trim, and had the wheels done professionally as they were worse than yours sadly. It now looks brand new. Like you I ended up going above and beyond as once you start, you cant stop and the Audi TT is so classy and executive its worth it. The heated seats are a joy in winter and the engine is great, its quiet and quick. I have upgraded parts like adding more leather to the inside and put in a whole new double din stereo for the TT so it all blends and looks stock. All I can say is, just repaint the entire wing now you have done the light. Sand the rest slightly and mask off the wing and blow it all over with paint and it will save the effort of trying to blend it in and masking lines. It will fix all the scratches and bring it up to the quality of the rest of the car. When you sell it on you will make a lot of profit. If I were you I would keep it......
The TT has gone from a scrapper, to a forecourt smasher, well done. And all in one video, not drawn out it to many small episodes. Wonderful, really enjoyed the TT rejuvenation. 🏆
You may need to pair the key with the car again. This happened with my A4 B5 estate I used to have many moons ago. You change the battery and then put the key in the door whilst pressing and holding the top button- you then turn it anti clockwise and hold in that position (for about 10 seconds) whilst still holding the button down and then turn clockwise and hold in the clockwise position for about 10 seconds (also whilst keeping the button pressed down). Then take key out and it should have paired itself once more
Ben, you're a natural when working on cars, also your expertise on video-editing is improving all the time. Loving your new pop-up tally sheet that it looks professional! your 2+hrs videos are proving to be very addictive, along with your sense of humour. Brilliant stuff! Keep up with your work! Thank you!
Ben, regarding the BT/CD situation: combine the two plugs, join AUX signals from the China BT adapter in place where the original CD changer cables go. Put any cd in one charger slot so it starts playing and you will get BT sound instead. Been there, done that. Let me help you remotely with that in case you need.
Love your uncut raw transparent video buddy! Love how you do it all yourself and never miss the full details whereas some others will not include those bits. Love the longer video too. You have a new subscriber in me. Love the original, honest content. ❤
Didn't think I'd have the patience to get through 2.5hrs... But such an interesting video and really makes me want to get a TT to fix up now. Great job lad.
If you’re willing to cut the factory wiring behind the stereo a standard ISO plug can be fitted quite easily, I recently did this on a 2004 Audi A3 with full Bose. One of the stickers on the factory head unit will have a wiring diagram on it to give you pointers. The basics of it are there is 4 positive connections for each of the speakers (2 front and 2 rear) and 1 shared ground. The sub doesn’t have its own feed direct from the stereo. You will then find that there is 1 cable which requires an ignition live so that the amp powers up when the ignition/stereo turns on. P.s love the content!
Nice one Ben. I'm biased being a 91 Audi 100 a6 quattro owner. The build quality of these early cars was just amazing.. a tt for under a grand is awsome..I knew from 1 second it was a ring contender 🤙🤙🤙
That's a lot of car for £250, and nice to see one that only needed simple tools as well. It's great how you show almost anything can be rescued if you have access to a welder and a lift but that looked like a car that anyone with a few simple tools and a driveway could bring around given time.
The mk1 TT always makes me think of a squashed New Beetle (yes I know they are largely the same floorpan/running gear). Maybe you should do a New Beetle at some point, look for a V5 Sport NB. Love the old 1.8T engine. This is one I’d recommend doing the Cambelt on as it drives the Waterpump and they are notorious for failing.
not to be like 'ermm actually ☝🤓' but the 8n tt shares the floorpan with the boxster 986 and 996 other than that it is an 8l a3/s3 with a shorter wheelbase
The headlights are usually designed to be vented. When the vent is clogged, moisture can't escape. So clean the vent. Look for Water Condensation In Headlight? Eliminate It Easily Without Removing Headlight! 👍
I'm fairly confident these will become appreciating modern classics pretty soon. A design classic. Mechanically pretty strong. Tunable. If anyone has a decent low milage example put it away safely for a few years.
Love your vids, one of the highlights of my weekend. Would love to see you do a bike, A CBR or an old Bandit, that would be cool. Thanks for your efforts, makes a great start to the weekend.
Just bought a red Mk1 a few weeks ago. I borrowed one when I was in between cars (obviously thought they were a hairdressers car back in the day!) Fell in love with it and had to have one! Use it as my run around 👍
I had a new 225 in blue in 2003 . I had it for four years and it proved very reliable and enjoyable. And it’s still on the road taxed and tested . Well done YP03YBY !
The clean up and jetwash is my favourite part of your videos, it's one of the things I enjoy doing, the transformation after a good detail is astonishing sometimes
For those of you reading this comment, it's okay, it's normal to feel lonely sometimes, if you're going through tough times, keep trying, but never give up,
Come on!! What a catch phrase, the feeling of joy when something broken is fixed. Just did the ac recharge thing, old 57 crv. Didnt blow cold when i bought it, thought the compressor was bust. No, just came back to life with this COME ON YOU BEAUTY🎉🎉🎉🎉 Off to spain on sat.
I wish I could approach DIY repairing with the same calmness you show. Man, i had to change the exhaust on my bike once, the amounts of swearing my nieghbours heard was unholy lol
I have an audi A4 B5 Avant, people think it posh and try and charge double; what poeple don't know it's basically identical to a Passat B5 = cheap parts.
Same with the Rolls-Royce Phantom and BMW 7 Series. 7 series = cheap parts compared to Rolls-Royce price! Saw a video 2/3 years ago, where the guy changed a water pump and camblet in his Phantom with 7 series genuine parts. I think he paid like $200/$300 and Rolls-Royce wanted $1500 for the parts!
Love the Audi TT MK1's and still see plenty around, their still great cars and have dated well, plenty of used or aftermarket parts available so running one shouldn't cost the average driver the earth. These are definitely future classics.
Hi Ben, just watched this Audi video. You done well. The foam edge tape you should use to mask around to top swage line and forward on the wing away from where you are painting. Don't worry it's always difficult to to know where to place tapes. Also the rattle can- there is only 10% paint in the can and the rest is 90% thinners. One way to do it is to place the can in a pot of boiling water 10 mins before you want to use it. It will be hot to hold but put a glove on. Shake the can for a little while that will atomise the paint and it will spray out better for you. Keep it up well done on these jobs. Regards Dave.
I had same year in blue but the 225. Absolutely loved it, brilliant build quality, expensive to service though.. one off the most satisfying cars to wash with its shapes. Petrol cap didn't like the frost.
Hi Ben. FAB EPISODE. I had a 2004 fwd red TT for 10 years. Bought for 5 grand with 83000 miles. Had done over 150000 miles when i gave it to my son. Engine never missed a beat. I had the same intermittent ESP light that you are getting and it was caused by an itermittent fault with one of the 2 Brake Pressure transducers that are fitted on the side of tge brake master cylinder. Absolute pig to get to so I lived with this intermittent fault for the last 3 years of owning the Car. What i really loved about the car was that you could feel the speed in it which made it great fun. All the best. Cameron
Great result that motor Ben, cover damp headlight with cardboard on outside put all lights on and it will dry it as beam heats it up and can't pass cardboard. Obviously with engine on mate 😊
You deserve credit for all your work on the TT. The only thing I would have done differently would have been to mask the area to be sprayed all around the crease in the wing but you were dealing with a most difficult colour. It will be interesting to see how long your Aircon stays cold as on my Audi it was only a couple of months after a garage lube and recharge.
Tip for painting, there are a few places around where if you give them the paint code for your vehicle, they will send you back a custom mixed spray can of the exact colour.
From a former S3 BAM 225 owner your abs light will be a wheel speed/abs sensor. They are prone to shitting themselves. Mine chewed 3 in a year. The loom was frayed and causing a signal issue
This was incredible. Came across your channel about 4 hours ago and you're a joy to watch! Love the graft you're putting in - thoroughly enjoyed it. Top marks from me pal! 🏆💯
This makes me want to buy knackered old cars - even though I have no clue how to fix them. Also, love your mum 😂 she’s like mine, helping with gardening advice
I've just got one similar, I paid £725 with no mot, dead battery and covered in algae, cleaned new battery on and mot booked tomorrow at half 4, fingers crossed it doesn't need to much. Loved the content I've subbed for more 😊
Didn't think I would like this but your presentation has become so good it kept me glued for the whole episode. I bet you could sell fridges to Eskimos !
So if I said the "Hoover " song sucks!!! Will that be considered a compliment? 😂 Anyways great of you to play these new artists songs. Love Audi, they just growing all the time because of their amazing cars just reinventing themselves

Key fob. Two batteries on top of each other: connected in series, double voltage, double trouble.
Timing belt and water pump need doing, I skipped some of the video so I don’t know if you did that job or plan to but definitely if you haven’t get it done. 60k or 4/5 years and it’s been sat for 4. Parts are cheap and the job is easy.

The headlights are usually designed to be vented. When the vent is clogged, moisture can't escape. So clean the vent. Look for Water Condensation In Headlight? Eliminate It Easily Without Removing Headlight! 👍
Never been so pleased to see someone get a boot open. Get in
I’ve still got that Hoover song stuck in my head :)
I'm fairly confident these will become appreciating modern classics pretty soon. A design classic. Mechanically pretty strong. Tunable. If anyone has a decent low milage example put it away safely for a few years.
Catchy little song now every time I vacuum with the Dyson that song will be in my head 😂 great video content 👍
An absolute modern design classic restored to beautiful condition. Hats off to you. 250 nicker..Madness!!
Liked the hoover song👋👋👋
Had one of these for 4 years and just sold it. There absolute tanks! Never failed a MOT.
Love your vids, one of the highlights of my weekend. Would love to see you do a bike, A CBR or an old Bandit, that would be cool.
Thanks for your efforts, makes a great start to the weekend.

Yeah he should also do
a Gruntmaster Suzuki
GSX 1400 K7 tourer
mine is (2008) 😁😁
31:32 Because you need to put the key in the ignition and turn it on soon as you open the door with the key and not the fob. Standard on all Vw
Thanks!
Just bought a red Mk1 a few weeks ago.
I borrowed one when I was in between cars (obviously thought they were a hairdressers car back in the day!)
Fell in love with it and had to have one! Use it as my run around 👍
Cheap fun car that Ben, great turn around. Hopefully a bit of profit for you with this 1
I had a new 225 in blue in 2003 . I had it for four years and it proved very reliable and enjoyable. And it’s still on the road taxed and tested . Well done YP03YBY !
A male of my age. Mk1 Escort, Saab 900 and Audi TT = dream cars.

Thats a porn movie , no
place on this channel,
can we keep it car related , thanks 🤭🤭
You missed the Sud and the 33;s, unfortunate, ; )
Jeez if they are a dream for you i hate to think what you daily right now as thats low ambition territory
@@rampantram1 Audi A4 B5 avant. Keep your super cars.
By the way, Try buying a mk 1 ford escort in mint condition.
The clean up and jetwash is my favourite part of your videos, it's one of the things I enjoy doing, the transformation after a good detail is astonishing sometimes
Clair de Lune. Very nice.
And meaning "moonlight" it is very appropriate as music to accompany the loving restoration of such a classic silver car! Nice one, Debussy😊
My father always says that most cars don't die, they just hibernate and this is a classic example of that. Such a cool little car! :D
I think this is going to be really cool. I know this sounds terrible but this car is as old as i am
Don't be ashamed, I'm the same age as Bens Rover p4 62 yrs young
I owned a Triumph TR4 once and used parts of another model that cost half as much!
It's very nice to see someone fixing up neglected cars before fuel injection and computers keep up the good work
Loved " it's still a hoover". Also, these early TT's had those tinted headlights, I hated them.
Another triumph of restoration Ben, one of your best yet. Take care on your trip to the Ring.
That song sucks 🤣
Love the Audi TT MK1's and still see plenty around, their still great cars and have dated well, plenty of used or aftermarket parts available so running one shouldn't cost the average driver the earth. These are definitely future classics.
To much yapping not enough doing in your videos 😂
Hi Ben, just watched this Audi video. You done well. The foam edge tape you should use to mask around to top swage line and forward on the wing away from where you are painting. Don't worry it's always difficult to to know where to place tapes. Also the rattle can- there is only 10% paint in the can and the rest is 90% thinners. One way to do it is to place the can in a pot of boiling water 10 mins before you want to use it. It will be hot to hold but put a glove on. Shake the can for a little while that will atomise the paint and it will spray out better for you. Keep it up well done on these jobs. Regards Dave.
Absolutely love this. These cars get better looking with time!
Cameron
loved it,, the full 2.5hrs of joy including the music hoover tune .....
Great result that motor Ben, cover damp headlight with cardboard on outside put all lights on and it will dry it as beam heats it up and can't pass cardboard. Obviously with engine on mate 😊
Or drape a towel instead of using cardboard
To not break this up in 5 episodes is great. Subscribed 🤘🤘🤘
I don't drive, but I thought I'd say that you've done a great job. It's a very smart car. Thank you.
Top tip for the head light, take the bumper off and drill some drain holes in the bottom of the unit. Really don't know why manufacturers don't do it.
That would cost too much money in the design stage, vehicle engineers want us to buy a new part 😊
Tip for painting, there are a few places around where if you give them the paint code for your vehicle, they will send you back a custom mixed spray can of the exact colour.
Just been listening to the tasty classics playlist on Spotify.
I thought my phone was broken when it played the Poddington peas theme tune.
The level of detail on your video is so satisfying, keep them coming!
From a former S3 BAM 225 owner your abs light will be a wheel speed/abs sensor. They are prone to shitting themselves. Mine chewed 3 in a year. The loom was frayed and causing a signal issue
Loved the video and the hoover song Ben. Compulsive viewing for me on a Friday night keep em coming. Steve from colwyn bay.
You mentioned you worked for vw i own a vw t5 campervan. With a 1.9tdi AXC engine still going strong with 232.214 miles on the clock. About 373,712 km
Brilliant little tidy up. I've really started to appreciate these cars in the last 18 months or so, it's a lot of car for the money.
Another stunning episode. I need your energy.
So if I said the "Hoover " song sucks!!!
Will that be considered a compliment?
😂
Anyways great of you to play these new artists songs.
You just got my subscription for being such a genouine, honest, down to the ground human. Very interesting episode and nicely made video! All the best from Germany. Really appreciate the content
I have enjoyed watching this video. Great job keeping a car like this on the road Ben. Looking forward to watching the next instalment!!!
Another great video Ben, it’s amazing how a bit of Dysoning can transform a car’s interior.
£250? That is the steal of the century! Awesome work once again. Ardderchog Ben !
