i went on the beach with my Xtrail a little while ago and when my mate's prado sank quite a lot, the Xtralight weight just floated on the top. A way underestimated vehicle.
Yep - LOVE X-Trails! Proved this when on an outback Qld host farm in small convoy - we got through a muddy patch but several dualcab 4wd utes got stuck for a short while! We recently traded in my 2010 model on a late 2019 model so hoping it is just as capable all round (reviews state this).....but alas cannot go anywhere at present of course!
Yeah ive had that too, xtrails nice and light so tend to skim the surface more than cut into it like other heavier cars. Enjoy the new model certainly should be a nice drive once yoyr able to go out and try it offroad. All the best
Great vid 👍 just remember bog holes carry forest disease, make sure you remove the mud before traveling up a hill so you don’t deposit any dieback or other diseases. 👍
Nice videos as always!! One thing I cannot get onboard with is the over the bumper steel bumper ehhh... I really don't know how people can slap them on :(
I bought a T30 2.2 diesel Aventura last Friday. I'm hoping to have it delivered this Thursday. Very excited. I'm in the UK so not so much fun as Australia sadly.
I'm glad I stumbled across this video bud. I've always wondered how well Xtrail's handled off road. I know this one is kitted up and lifted, but did you test it out stock standard?
Nice ride man. I have a Black T31 like yours, and I'm looking forward to install some BFG/AT-KO2 in it so I can explore more like you. Greetings from Costa Rica!
Gotten bogged a few times. I use the maxtrax abd have also been towed out. But for amount of offroading ive done i could count those times on my fingers. Xtrail very light so tends to skip over surface instead of digging in.
Very impressive! Suld sell my VF and get another xtrail; i wonder if the newer ones 2016+ are any good with some offroading (I think CVT would suck). Maybe a forester with xmode could be more capable?
Cheers mate, yeah its a great question, from what I've seen their good on the beaches, I guess the approach / departure angles would hamper it on the more steep or forest type tracks as they sit lower. i haven't driven a forester but as we all know they are very capable also.
Are there lift kits available for Xtrails? And how capable as offroaders are they? I'm a hilux owner, but looking into getting a smaller ride like this. Impressive video by the way. It's changed my perspective on what Xtrails can do.
Hey Paul, yes pedders suspension have a kit available. Jump over to my modified video for all mods on the xtrail. They certainlh are extremely capable. Mines never let me down. Takes me to all the awesome locations which lets face it only probably 30% of big 4wders go anyway. You'll love them, so much more than just a 4wd too can carry so much stuff inside due to the box design.
Where would I go about finding a lift i know the t30 has a 50mm strut spacer/lift you can buy but I don't know where or how much lift you can buy for a 2008 t31 x trail
Hi Xtrail community ! I am interested in this car, I am not sure on its reliability though. Any thoughts ? Will it stand up to the old Japanese reliability standards ?
Hi there, I’ve recently got an 07 x trail, I’ve only done about 600 kms in it at this time. It runs great and is a fantastic car from what I’ve experienced in that time. Drives great.
Is a 2006 auto x-trail capable of this sort of stuff. Obviously after some mods but was wondering before i put any money into getting it ready for 4wd.
Hey, I’m looking to buy an Xtrail for the same style adventures, including camping on remote sand beaches. I want the same tire size and the lift as yours. Do you think a 2.5L CVT would handle it? Or should I look at Diesel+automatic / 2.0 Petrol + manual (there are no 2.5 petrol+manual in my country)? There are many affordable Xtrails with CVT in a good condition on the market. Diesels are more expensive and mostly high mileage. So I can’t make up my mind. Any advice will be appreciated.
Theres 3 options, 2wd, auto which means it will decide where to send the power, and then 4wd lock which will lock all wheels in and give even power distribution to each wheel. Its a real smart system and great to use.
@@4xExploringAustralia Thanks! Is the X lifted anyhow? Were there any problems with tires rubbing against anything? I have X-trail t31 from 2008 and looking forward acquiring some offroad capabilities, the opinions on maximum tire size are so variable that I have clearly no idea what to go for.
these type of cars are next to useless offroad with out of control speed and skidding, they need to rethink the whole approach to offroad and go for simpler 4wd systems its like its a super sophisticated system but way worse than a 4wd standard with low range 1990s style. which was probably cheaper and stronger and more effective. looking at video below i wouldnt trust any of them offroad unless you want to end up in a ditch. they just dont make simple better cheap smaller 4wds any more. would i be happy to go alone down a 4wd in an xtrail, with spinning high revs wheels, short answer no. ditto if i was rockhopping, the drivers not in control. sometimes the wheels just spin and no progress made the choice modern car companies give you is this or proper big 4wd but nothing else kinda sucks for the price. ruclips.net/video/QDEKrkgfs8Y/видео.html
Coming from someone who clearly has never tried to drove one. Always hreat to seepeoples comments when they have no real life experience driving a vehicle like an xtrail. I have gone solo to remote places people wouldnt think is possible. All in the head mate

great vid this xrail is the beat it can manage all the terreain i like
nice ride, i have a T30, never done offroad before but after watching this i think it s time to take my rods and reels and go offroard
Great cars. And great music ...a guitarist

Any idea where the Xtrail (rego 1EBHxxx) got their black nudge bar from?

Hey mate, do I need lift to fit the 235 70 16 ?
40mm lift will do. If standard suspension it will rub.
I have them std height no problem at all
The new trails are a joke. I’d be happy for them to keep releasing this model every year just with the new tech.
im surprised the xtrail is quite capable offroad.
gets the job done well, alot of fun
I hv 2011 xtrail 6 speed manual and so far good ‘ I cnt wait to join those xtrail clubs to test my xtrail..
