Lexus by a long shot, its in a different playing field than Porsche. You could drive that reliably literally anywhere in the world with a peace of mind keeping you and your family safe, that luxury is unmatched.
I can't speak on the reliability of Porsche, but I know it's always been on the top of the reliability rankings alongside Lexus. From owners I know, they're quite happy with theirs. Lexus is certainly much more affordable in regards to maintenance costs though.
After spending a lot of time researching, a test drive of both the LC500 and 911 made my decision easy. I ended up getting a red LC500. I don't need to feel like I'm driving on the track every day. I think a comfortable, reliable car that also handles well is more important. There's also the wow factor for the LC, both inside and out. Unless you truly need a precise engaging drive, it's a no brainer. The LC500 is one of the best cars ever made.
Yes, you couldn't have said it any better. The 911 is a scalpel, but when are you truly going to use it to its full potential? LC500 is a perfect combination of performance and comfort. Thanks for your input!👍
Yeah Porsche has the better badge and performance but TBH it ends there. Also, that Lexus badge combined with the beautiful looks of this car is still plenty prestigious.
I'm a current Porsche owner (Cayman S, not 911), and am here because I saw my first LC yesterday and was blown away. I love Porsche, and think it has a unique look and refinement that other brands don't capture, but I have to admit the LC is mesmerizingly beautiful. Plus from owning Lexus in the past, I know the quality and luxury of the brand is unquestionable. If I wanted performnce in a bit higher luxury spec than Porsche, this woudl be the car.
Well said. Specifically the LC500 brings the refinement, design and sportiness all together in one package. Don't get me wrong though, Porsche is solid from A to Z, but having sat in both, it doesn't give you that sense of occasion that the LC does.
@@RichWithCars Yeah Porsche has better performance and superior tech But LC500 has the edge in ride quality and considerably better interior fit / finish Only way for Porsche to be close in terms of fit and finish/overall quality is if you get the club leather options for like 5k and spend an additional 10k+ on the extended leather packages. But then you're talking like 30-40 k more than the LC500
The 911 definetly have the better interior and material. Are you forgettin about the TONS of recalls Toyota has for meltin interiors, melting dashes on Lexus? They always uses the cheapest materials while Porsches from the 60s are still intact!!@@danielmiller9012
With a budget of 70 000€ I hesitated between a used 911 or a used LC500H . No V8 anymore because I live in Paris and in the city it is not that fun (sold my C5 corvette). Finally I bought a 2018 LC500H. Way less common than a 911 and no regrets at all.
Yes, unfortunately EU laws are cracking down on the "fun" engines, which really limits your choices - especially within the city centers. I haven't driven the 500h yet, but surely it's considerably rarer than the Porsche. Enjoy!
The 911 is expensive especially now - due to the low supply...I definitely understand....repair costs shouldn't be a concern if it's still under warranty tho...
A repair headache? You’re kidding right? I owned a 991.2 TurboS daily drive it and that thing is solid. Porsche is not McLaren or Ferrari. It is German engineering at its finest.
Tell me you never owned a 911 without telling me you never owned a 911... They are extremely reliable, I've owned 911's for years and never do more than an oil change.
@@TinMan-kd2gv with all due respect, my father owns one too and his eyes turned red from the amount of times he had to keep returning it to the dealer due to its faults the first year he owned it and afterwards and he has a 2022 one. It was his retirement gift to himself and it was turned out to be his retirement hell lol.
Great job! Depends on what you want. Both have advantages. Porsche is faster, just crazy engaging to drive! But the LC 500 is great, less expensive, you can drive it forever. Both look great on the road
I don't know about status- to anyone but a car enthusiast, it's just another Porsche (and the status/perception is generally negative anyway). The 911 is a classic and absolutely has a top notch performance driving experience... it is not, however, a unique looking vehicle (exterior, interior) or a top notch comfort and luxury experience. The 911 below the S sounds pretty mediocre and even the S or above sounds just "ok".
@@Slythey it is a status symbol to alot of people whether they know it or not and whether it conveys negative opinions or not. But yah I do agree that some people think porsche drivers are douche like bmw drivers… lol no idea why. It’s just because it’s at a higher price point, it’s heritage and performance. In terms of looks… yah it’s not as exotic as a ferrari or mclaren or lamborghini but the design is a classic like the design of a rolex and personally i don’t like rolex’s.
Yes, I should have included that I am an X retired Porsche Mechanic, love Porsches! But honestly they are two different extended vehicles. Driving the LC is very very special, makes you feel like you have something special. Porsches are very common, been around for years, drive and handle amazingly, but definitely not comfortable or extra special to look at anymore. Give me an LC any day also excellent reliable engineering that won’t send you broke.
Thanks for sharing. I totally agree with you. Porsches are phenomenal machines and there's reason as to why they have such a huge following. The LC is a special vehicle that isn't quite at the performance level of the 911, but it still looks, drives and sounds great. I definitely get that "special" feeling when driving the LC - surprisingly more so than I did when comparing it to the 911.
No that's how it shows on camera. As you might know, when brushing through alcantara in one direction you'll get a lighter color whereas when you brush the opposite direction you'll get a darker color.
Glad to hear, I was thinking for a little while that you had some hygiene issues ;). I pickup my 911 Turbo S next month!! I am pumped, but can also say the LC is an awesome ride! Congrats!
These are 2 very different cars for different people with different driving profiles. One is a Grand Tourer and the other is a true "Sports Car" for enthusiasts who want to be engaged in the driving experience. Personally, I'll take the Porche.
Yup, I completely agree with your insight about 2 completely different cars. But I've read in forums and had people asking about x-shopping the two - which I found odd, especially after driving them back to back.
Thank you. For sure the Lexus has more of a relaxed driving feel and not as visceral as the 911. But I did have a more "special" feeling behind the wheel of the LC....
The LC got a new touchscreen and some new colours for 2024... That definitely pushes it over the top for me. I ended up getting a M4 comp because I needed the AWD and back seat space but for the price nothing beats the LC
I’ve been waiting since 2018 for the LC to ditch the trackpad. They finally put in a touchscreen for 2024 so I just put a deposit down with my local Lexus dealer to get 1st dibs on a 2024 when they get it in
Nice review and I agree with your final thoughts. If you are solely focused on a track weapon, Porsches all day every day. The secret sauce in those things are captivating, but you'll suffer in many other areas...like daily usability. The Lexus on the other hand does everything well, not the best on the track, but well enough for sure.
Thanks for watching. Yes absolutely true - Porsches are sought after for good reason (aside from the fact that they're low on supply now). But the allure of the LC cannot be denied.
Thanks 👍! Yes I agree that the LC is last of its kind. But the 911's are still maintaining a lot of their enthusiast based components: Ex: flat 6 engine (tho most are now turbocharged), manual gearboxes, and very dynamic driving intentions how it's always been. Have to respect the 911....tho I am a Lexus fan....🙏
Good report, very enjoyable. A 1979 3.6 liter 911SC was my daily wheels for 13 years. Loved it, tracked it, long distance, everything. If I were to go ahead today I'd buy the LC 500 and when I felt to urge to get on the track with a sports car I'd book 1-2 days at the Porsche Experience in Atlanta or Corvette Experience in Las Vegas. With that out of my system, the Lexus sounds like the way to go - GT or street. BTW, Car & Driver interviewed Mario Andretti in the 1970s and asked him which car he would prefer for a coast-to-coast trip in the the US. His answer: Cadillac.
Wow - sounds like you really got the maximum use out of that 1979 911SC! If I owned any version of the 911, I'd definitely take it to the track a few times per year. I still haven't taken the opportunity of attending one of those Experience events (whether Porsche, Corvette or even Lexus - yes they have one as well), but it's on my list! I'm quite surprised that Andretti, such a huge car aficionado would name Cadillac as his coast-to-coast cruiser - I'd expect more like a Vette, or Porsche!
Nicholas Davis congrats on getting the LC! You'll love it! Drive her in good health. 👍 Make sure to join the Club Lexus forum for additional info (in the LC500 category)!
I am on my way to test drive a 911 4s. I just tested the lc500 yesterday and might buy it today, but i want to give the 911 a shot, since ive always wanted one
As I mentioned in my review, they both drive very differently. But I still find that the LC is a better daily driver since it's more of a GT. The 911 has much better driving dynamics and feels a little more visceral. I'd still take the LC due to its unique exterior and interior design, rarity and the fact that it gives you a sense of occasion when driving it. Keep us posted as to what you ended up with. Either way, they're both phenomenal cars.
@RichWithCars thank you Rich. Gr8 channel btw. I am picking up the LC500, albeit, my wife tells me I am not sophisticated enough to drive the Lexus. And yes, that is mostly true as my usual choice of vehicles are muscle cars (Hellcat, Magnum SRT8, and other great American V-8s) and HD motorcycles; so she is not wrong because those are on the opposite side of the spectrum, oppose to the Lexus. But I cannot unknow what I now KNOW. The LC is a grail of a car, and once it enters your consciousness, it is irresistible. I am just glad I found a real great deal at my local Lexus dealership in Honolulu 2019 w less than 3k miles l, sold for 75K. Great value. The Porsche was great, and 5 years ago it would probably be my choice. Maybe the next go around, as that itch still needs scratching.
I think I mentioned that the paddle shifters are magnesium. I didn't know that interior door handles were magnesium also....where did you read that? Thanks for the input.
Good review, I had a 911 and the older Lexus SC430 and I liked the ride in the Lexus! As the review states, 911 is an engaging car, but not comfortable and lacks on refinement, recently purchased a LC and must admit, it is a totally different league compare to Porche. Simply because Porche is such a common looking car no matter the new models coming out. Anytime for a Lexus!!!
Thanks for watching. Yes, the 911 is more of a scalpel compared to the LC - but the LC can hold on its own. Let's not forget that the 911 is a sports car and the LC is more of a GT...
I'm 6'3, and couldn't fit in the LC comfortably with the driver seat pushing me too far forward even with the seat moved all the way back. It was weird that the seat wouldn't recline to a comfortable position. Porsche was way more comfortable and adjustable for my size. Loved the LC, but just couldn't fit.
If you value your money, you buy Lexus. If you've got money to burn, and you don't like keeping your money ... in your bank account, definitely buy Porsche. My brother did, and he's very much, less well-off than he was, with all the repair bills!
@@RichWithCars "They've always been towards the top of the reliability rankings..." Says who .... Jeremy and Chris? When the bar is set so low by certain brands, then I guess anything is accepted as "Reliable! How many class action suits has Porsche had to deal with in recent years? How many IMS bearing and scored cylinders has Toyota/Lexus or Honda or the GTR/Skyline had to deal with? And that's before we get to the hideous electrical gremlins that Porsche suffer from. And let's be honest, we're talking about the brand who brought us the 924, 944 and 928, that were as reliable as a politician's promise, and the 911 has been no better ... it's just been marketed well, and the sheeple have fallen for it! It's like Mercedes, who in the 90's, fell to the bottom of the reliability rankings, and to counter that, they simply stuck AMG badges on every other car, and got Jeremy to film exciting shots of him oversteering the cars every other week ... and got the people to focus on Nürburgring lap time, rather than the fact of how much the dealer is going to take you to the cleaners the next time your car is serviced! Now most of the low end Mercs are stuffed with Renault engines which breakdown more than Jordan Peterson talking about the fallen state of young, white males ... As for BMW, name me a BMW M-car that hasn't had anything but catastrophic engine issues, be it in 6-8-10 cylinder form. And in comparison, name me a variant of the 2JZ that has or had Crank Hub issues? As for the VW 911, I'm in contact with quite a few VW Boxster to 911 owners, including members of my family, and see how regularly they have to go back to the dealers to fix their; oh so expensive purchases. When it comes to this myth of German reliability, my question is always the same; where is this famous German reliability, because I can't see evidence of it anywhere within the last 30 years! Diesel gate, clogged direct injected engines, VW gearbox issues, Mercedes SL with $20,000+ repair bills, £15,000 fixes for Porsche scoring problems, BMW V8 and V10 bearing failures ... when it comes to the disaster that is German Engineering, the list goes on and on! It seems with certain brands, a high price does not imply reliability! All the best
As a former Z guy (3 variants), I just purchased the LC500 2024 edition as my new Z. Some months ago, I had purchased a 2017 Mazda MX-5 RF as my next Z and found it to be an excellent sports/luxury car blend that is very enjoyable to own and drive. I can recommend the MX-5 as the best sports car for the price point ($30-40K). I had previously reviewed and liked the LC500 but was annoyed by the electronics in the platform. And to my surprise, Lexus Corporate listened to the market and updated the infotainment for 2024. So the Miata is now going to find a new home and the LC500 has earned a spot in the garage. Having owned and driven many vehicles over my baby boomer life, the LC500 is the penultimate Lexus blend of GT/LS art/engineering and is actually priced well, with respect to the competition. I appreciate your review and agree with your comments. Stay safe and happy driving!
Thanks for your well detailed comment. Unfortunately I never had the pleasure of testing out the Miata, even though I've read a lot of reviews mirroring your feedback. I definitely have to give it a try sometime. As for the LC, you're correct about the infotainment and they surely updated it to stay relevant with the market. They even added the 360 camera, which should've been done from day #1. Nevertheless, I'm a very satisfied LC owner and I hope Lexus will continue their journey into further expanding their F Line of products.
@@thomashui87 The LC500 is the best luxury sport tourer. Not a racer but a very well refined, well engineered, comfortable and dare I repeat, beautiful car. And if you are taller than 6 feet, definitely the LC over the Miata. Love them both and Miata is the bargain(and more sporty) but the LC is the best.
I bought the LC500 Convertible, sound, quality fit and finsh and Exhauset sound similar to the Lexus LFA. The porsche costs over $70k more than the Lexus, so Lexus was the best choice for me.
Yeah can't blame you. The sound coming out of the Lexus is definitely better than the Porsche. Dynamics on the other hand, I'd give it to Porsche - but the Lexus is a great all arounder.
Fortunate enough to have LC500 convert and a 992 Targa 4S. Both are comfortable, with LC being softer and quieter, but 911 having better driving dynamics and actually handles bumps better. Which is better? If I have a choice, Im taking the 911.
@catjesus4319 the 911 is a 50+ yr model that's been continuously improved with a racing pedigree. I would sure hope It'd be better. Not bad for Lexus on a first gen model though!
I have never test driven a Porsche 911. I have no interest in buying a 911. I have test driven a Lexus LC500. Loved the car and loved the test drive. Will probably buy the LC500.
@@RichWithCars with 911 it is a hit and miss. My neighbor had a lot issues with his 992 which he eventually lemoned., but a friend of mine had a 991 and he was happy, and his only complaint was $$$ on maintenance and service.
POrsche is definitely going to be more playful than the LC. But surprisingly, I've tossed the tail out on track with my LC, and it was quite controllable.
“GREAT INFORMATIVE REVIEW!” I am 68, I’ve owned two 911’s (1999.2007) one cabriolet/speed yellow/manual...so YES: the Porsche was “engaging” and a joy to ride: I think I’m going to buy an LC....
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. The LC is definitely a great grand tourer, but nowhere near the visceral feel you get out of a 911. I think the LC is a great blend of luxury and performance. You'll definitely enjoy it if you get one - just go and test drive one! Good luck!
Really depends on what you plan on using it for and how much you plan to use it. If you think you'll be doing some track days but still want to use it for weekend drives - Porsche. For a daily driver GT - Lexus.
4:20 The LC beats the fk out of the 911 on the interior. No if ands or buts. My LC smells like a fine leather store when i get in it hits you like a murderer smothering your face with a glorious leather glove.
7:55 I notice you drive in eco. Thats why your front end looks so good. PRO TIP: 😐 If you drive over 100mph. And you do that a lot... the front end accumulates impacts. I had my entire front clip protected with clear and I've taken 4 impacts that have hopefully not penetrated the armor but visually stained the front end. If i glance at the hood in just the right light and angle you can see alllllll these little micro impacts equally scattered across the hood. Its wild. Meaning i need to have my clear stripped and replaced. 3800 bucks. So yea the tip is stay slow and away from other cars kicking up garbage. I drive aggressively and pay for it unfortunately.
I also have Xpel PPF on my entire front end (including the front lip). Yeah, fully aware of all the garbage that gets kicked up. I drive in ECO when not pushing it. The 2 modes I always drive in are ECO with the trans in auto and Sport S+ in manual mode....😁
I had a 9/11 Carrera 4S and liked it just fine and dandy. I also have an LC 500 Lexus convertible and it's about 70,000 cheaper and for my money, I like it just as good or more. Mine is a beautiful infrared with the cocoa tan interior, loaded with the Turing package and I really love It's fun to drive and honestly I believe I like it better
That's great to hear. I truly believe that both vehicles have very different intentions. The 911 is a better sports car but the LC is definitely a more refined GT car...
Love both and have been a 911 fan for a long time but if I'm looking for a performance vehicle to own over the long-term (factoring service and maintenance costs) the LC is very compelling.
LC500 all day. I like Porsche, but once I'm in that territory I'm probably more into AMG offerings. LC500 to own/drive until dead. GT3 Touring if resale is critical. AMG GT and AMG SL if we're talking F-U money. I just love their presence. Carrera for
@@RichWithCars I don't mean "F-U money" as a means of showing off how much money one has, but as a means of not caring about how much value the car holds, either literally (depreciation, resale demand) or subjectively (clout).
@@EdwardViaTomato my bad. Thanks for clarifying that. In that sense, then yes, I completely agree. I'd also add the Aston Martin Vantage to that. He drives it like it’s stolen almost every day and the car just isn’t phased one bit. 👍 you can’t lose with either choice though….would love to add a Porsche to the fleet for weekends. Cheers ! 🍻
@JohnBlazeZero ya you can't go wrong with Porsche. Unfortunately they're going full a-holes, because of the dumb flippers. I tried getting a GT4 RS last year, and dealer was asking for a $125k markup. No thanks! Porsche is good, but not to that extent!
I own a 991.2 Gts and a 2020 lc500. Never did I cross shopped these 2. The 911 came first as it’s the gold standard sports car/semi gt when you need it to be. The rear engine dynamics is completely different and driving feel. The Lexus is a dam beautiful Japanese crafted machine that I use for when I prioritize a soft plush ride and over stated luxury and comforts for them non sporty days. If I had to keep one, it’d easily be the 911 but add a lc500 as a stable mate and you’re in automotive heaven.
I just sold my m850, I really want the lc500! Looks and sounds amazing, just wondering is their any aftermarket mods avail for the lc500? Maybe a supercharger? Or even a tune with intake and exhaust work… I’d like to get it around 550-600hp.. I wish Lexus Atleast boosted the 5.0 v8, it’s an amazing gt car, but I would want alittle more power.
Unfortunately not. Many others have been hoping/waiting for a performance mod for the LC, but nothing yet. Reason for this is because the ECU has been very difficult to crack. Tune by LOI has a potential crack on the ECU, but only 1 owner has confirmed it. Aside from that, don't expect to get much for performance upgrades. If you do go for an LC, get it for what it has, and not for what it could potentially be (performance wise).
@@RichWithCars yea I figured, I seen some rcf’s superchargered, isn’t that the same 5.0 platform? Looks like the lc is better from a roll, highway pulls.
@adamsdailydriveway yes, same platform but the ones you've seen with a SC were most likely prior to 2017 MY. Those have different ECU's that were able to get cracked....
Great video man, I agree with what you said (from a guy have both of them) .. LC500 all day. Porsche is a cool but reliability is trash. And with 2 turbos it's only a matter of time before a rebuild. Plus every mechanic is gonna want to poke your eyes out to work on it. I think Lexus is more stylish inside and out too. Also you don't see them that often so there's a wow factor. These are just my thoughts over all great video. I enjoyed it.
Thanks for watching. I'd generally agree with you, even though Porsche has been in the top 3 of the reliability study by JD Power (not this year tho). The LC is definitely a much rarer car, and more visibly pleasing...
No maintenance issues whatsoever...I did have a few issues with the vehicle, covered in this video below: ruclips.net/video/RGyl-mvWlUk/видео.htmlsi=rUawHD1cUe9bxY-z
It is not a simple question. It depends on your budget, what you want from the car and how you intend to use it and ultimately which car gives you a feel good factor (important for a coupe). If budget is an issue LC500 for sure. Money no object, get a 911 Turbo s.
Went through that 2018, I ended up choosing 2014 Porsche GTS, and I am a Lexus guy. There is nothing drives like a 911 when it comes to sports car driving.
I am the proud owner of a ‘23 LC500 Convertible. The looks are scrumptious. Interior is like sitting in a leather cocoon. Strong engine and super engine note . Drive it. You’ll buy it🏖️
I'll take the LC500 all day if we're talking regular coupes. but convertible, I'll take a 911 with targa top -- that's the most beautiful convertible design I've ever seen IMO
Really? I know many people who love the Targa, but I've never been a fan of its design. I'd still take an LC500 convertible....tho I'm not a fan of convertibles in general. To each their own....thanks!
12:15 I dont agree. Im an LC owner, a track rider/driver. If you put the LC in Sport+ manual, and you know how to launch from a stop meaning you need to brake hold to 1800-1900 rpm, any more and you get wheel spin any less and you don't get the full launch. I use that for launches, and in aggressive city driving the LC matches the 911 toe for toe i know I've driven both with aggression. Not sure if you have the DHP or rear wheel stear but that makes a huge diff in the cars ability to rotate around a corner or through a tight gap in traffic you need to exploit. Can you take down a Z06? NO i know when to stop. Red Eye...same thing. But a base 911 typically driven by a basic bitch driver who doesn't know his ass from his hand. If your any good you can handle it. Ive run from police in the LC. LOL
LOL! Yeah you do have a point in city driving. I do have the DHP (notice the deployable wing in the back)...but regardless, the 911 is more dialed in IMO....
I completely agree with you, but I made the video because I did notice that a lot of people were cross shopping the 2....u either want one or the other. Two very different feeling cars.
@@RichWithCars Thanks for the clarification, it was an excellent video, thanks for posting it. I love the LC500, was very close to purchasing one before Covid hit the world. Looking forward to your future videos.
Resale value? Meaning? The 911 probably has a slightly higher resale value - but Lexus has a history of retaining its value quite well, due to its reliability.
Regarding the infotainment system of each car. The German money pit has the extremely dangerous "take your eyes off the road" touch screen. Your average Porsche moron is usually exceeding the speed limit by 40 mph which means he is traveling anywhere from 100-150 feet per second. I wonder what kind of tragedy can happen when you take your eyes off the road for two seconds. Hmmm??? On the other hand, the best car made has VOICE COMMAND. For 99.95% of anything you want or desire the car to do, you simply press the TALK BUTTON and tell the car what it is you want it to do. Your eyes never leave the road and your hands never leave the steering wheel. That doesn't mean a tragedy can't happen but it does mean at least you'll be aware of something that needs your immediate attention. Unfortunately, most people are idiots and don't realize Lexus offers this feature, so they criticize the infotainment system as being hard to use when the exact opposite is true. In the four plus years I've owned my LC, I've used the trackpad less than ten times and never while driving. It could be possible that while you're out and about a sudden cold snap swoops in and CLIMATE CONCIERGE doesn't warm the seats enough to you liking. If that's the case, you simply say "Show Seat Warming Screen" and then slide your fingers up a bit. There are literally thousands of VOICE COMMANDS and once you learn "the basics", there isn't much that can't be done. So again, the German hunk of crap loses.
First of all - I enjoy your long comments - THANK YOU! I wouldn't say that about Porsche drivers, but more so of the BMW drivers 🤔 - being careless on the road. Yes, you're right about the voice commands, but the only downside about the LC voice system, is that you have to learn how to communicate with it. The new Lexus infotainment will understand more conversational speech - thus not having us owners "learn its language". After reading your comment, I tried voice commanding my LC to bringing me to the seat climate control screen - it took me 3 tries to get it to understand my command - tried different iterations of saying the same thing. It's definitely is worth the time to learn some of its general commands to get you to the right screen, as it cuts down on the number of clicks you need to go through the track pad.
Yea you are cross shopping these. Im an owner of a 22 LC500 coupe and i did cross shop the 2CS 7MT. I actually test drove both cars, (LC500 vs 2CS AT) no MT was available for test and honestly found them both to fantastic drivers cars. Im a car guy and having driven porsches of the 90's and up I'm honestly not that huge a fan of them. I only tried this gen 911 because its the first 911 in a long time i actually like visually. Driving it was meh. Dont let the hype oversell this car boys. Its not THAT great unless you spec it out properly in which case you just dropped 200+ so put all that in perspective. Then driving and i mean DRIVING. I tested these cars like i would drive them. I couldn't and didn't want to scare the fuk out of the sales guys so i couldn't get to the limit but for the average person "dick" driving is equal in both cars. Meaning don't let anyone tell you the LC cant hang cause it can. Ive not taken either to the track so i cant comment on all out performance that others say the LC is to heavy for. I would tho! Just haven't got there yet. I picked the LC because its rare. They only sell ~1500/year while the 911 does ~10k. I literally rolled into a gas station in my Infrared LC at night and saw the jaw on this dude pumping gas literally DROP. You wont see that in a 911. YOU WONT! Kids wave at me, men and boys stare, women give you compliments to the moon. If i had a 911 id be a dick no one would give a fuk for. Then when i roll up to a scat pack, GT, SS, Ftype, Type R, WRX, STI, Golf R.... ill smoke em all. And i have. All those cars listed have been victims. The scat pack was fun. He wanted and i gave him 3 pulls unto which he lost. 🤣. Thats why LC500 🥰😘😘😘
1:45 Yea but most ppl do not account for the BASE 911 being right on target of 4.5 to 60. The LC500 should not be compared to a 2CS/4CS they are faster. You can smite them only if you catch them off guard. Thats fun. ;)
@@aurorajones8481 4.5 sec to 60 mph for base 911 is what Porsche claims. It is more like 3.6 - 3.8 sec. Porsche claims that because base 911 performance is very close to S model and does not justify the price differential. Try a base 911..
Only complaint about t he 911 is all that piano black... I feel like that shouldn't be on cars upwards of 100k or more. I mean, I wouldn't tolerate it on a 60-80k car, let alone the 911.
@@RichWithCars unless there is varying grades of it that I'm not aware of, all piano black I have seen gets scratched very easily and shows dust/fingerprints very poorly as well. I thought it was generally accepted to be a low trim/cheap material, but maybe I am wrong- not sure.
If I wanted a car for a track car, it would be the Porsche, but for a road GT car, I would definitely have the LC everyday! They are two different cars.
14:30 Ill agree about the "connection" but that does not translate to faster. Some cars feel faster driving slow than a slow car driving fast if that makes any sense. The LC does things w/out you knowing if you were in the 911 also if that makes any sense. Does that mean its faster? NO its not. And I'm not talking racing cause i know a 911 will roast an LC at the track. I know that. But for 90% of you guys driving 80% of the time. THEY ARE THE SAME in speed and performance ability. How they do that is different. One lets you feel it, the other hides it from you. Is one better than the other? HELL YEA but that's on you.
I honestly dont track my LC i drive it so it needs to print on the street and it does in spades even tho on a spec sheet its not as good. Thats balls to the wall racing. Are you planning to do that every time you get in? I don't think so. And I'm an aggressive driver. I drive balls to the wall race mode 10% of the time which is probably a lot for most ppl. The rest is aggressive driving i did in a Lexus UX chasing after a ZO6 at 130mph on the highway. LOL talk about HILLARITY on sitlits. That stupid little thing did the business but only because i was making it dance. My point is the driver is a huge part of the equation ppl think they get those numbers out of the box but the driver getting those numbers was a professional on a perfect track on perfect tires in a perfect setting. Reality is real and those numbers fall off the page.
Yeah, it all depends on what type of experience you're looking for as a driver. The LC is much more pleasant on a daily basis - with the advantage of getting "sportier" when you want it to....
Completely different cars. LC500 is pure GT, long distance cruiser and a lovely V8. The 911 is a sports car with agility and driving enjoyment as its focus. I'd have both. I have a tuned 911 Turbo (730bhp) and am considering an LC500 coupe as a companion car. A better comparison for the Lexus would be a BMW 850. The design focus of the 911 is totally different.
I agree, but the reason why I did this review was because I noticed a lot of LC buyers were x-shopping with the 911. Your Turbo must be a beast! Which gen? And yes, I'd love to have both side by side.
My first choice would be … … to remove the beads dangling from the rear view mirror 😂 Thanks for the comparison, I’d choose the LC 500 any day but in convertible form.
Thanks for your review I appreciate it. And believe me I understand and driven a twin turbó carrera 🤦🏻♂️ increíble, why not the best of both worlds Luxury & performance. Thank you
La verdad es que el Porsche está en un otro nivel de capacidad. De otro lado, el Lexus combina el lujo y un coche deportivo de una buena manera....perfect GT👍
I have a 2021 LC00 Convertible... believe me, the LC 500 will give you all the SPORTY experience you need in a sports car....No regular LC500 will be able to drive and push the LC500 to its limit... maybe professional certified Formula 1 can.. But overall, the LC500 is more than the sporty drive we need
I completely agree. But if you end up taking the LC500 on the track and put it up against the 911, there's a considerable difference. Truth is, how often will you be taking your vehicle on track? Max once a month? The majority of the time is being driven on regular roads, which the LC can sufficiently satisfy...
2:59 And the exhaust!! What a racket. When a buy an Aprilia or Ducati and opt for an exhaust i get performance bumps that are disclosed for the $ i pay. Porsche does not give you those bumps because there are none. Your just paying for a look. Keep that in mind. Id keep the stock and use the $ you would give Porsch to buy yourself a proper exhaust that DOES give you bumps and better looks frankly.
Have you test driven the LC500? If not, I highly recommend you do. Why AWD? Are you planning on driving it in snowy conditions? Otherwise, having a rwd is a better experience imo
13:12 I will echo your comments on ride and tranny. The 911 had a telepathic auto, the LC is good but doesn't like anything but normal, eco, comfort in slow speeds leaving you in a lerch if put in sport or sport + in the parking lot. AND what i hate most. Denied shifts. FU i want that shift now! The LC thinks it knows better than you when it will ALLOW you to shift which pisses me off. I wish i could do an ECU override allowing me complete shift control. I ride motorcycles i know if i drop it in first at 100mph ill brake the damn bike. Im not a complete tard.
And to that point. They have red line limiters so if you did do that being a moron the car should just bounce off the limiter until the driver figures out he is an idiot.
Lol! A lot of safety and damage control systems in the LC l, which can become annoying. Ex: taking traction control off - CONSTANT REMINDER ON YOUR GAUGE CLUSTER! It's like, ok Lexus, I get it!
Both these cars are very reliable n safe . Built like tanks . Porsche can be a grocery getter that a soccer mom could handle. The Lexus too . Your Lexus is insane . Beautiful n I'm not for certain which I'd buy
Have the 911 and buddy has LC, both cars are for different drives...LC is more Grownup, more GT, more Exclusive more Thors Hammer. The 911 is Everything else, more of Everything (literally), more Iron Man's Suit. If you can only buy 1, 911 all day...if you have the means for 2, LC or R8 both great choices.
I’m lucky I have both. They are spectacular in their own rights, but I won’t compare them. The LC is a GT car, the attention to details is out of this world. The 911 is more exhilarating to drive, but is behind in quality of fabrication.
Quick update: the Porsche 911 Carrera4s sold.
You nailed it
@@RichWithCarsI work for Audi, and I'll choose the Lexus ALL DAY!
@@wadehiggins1114 seriously? I can understand because it's Lexus. But are Audi's that much more unreliable?
You have no clue haha. Go test drive a Porsche then come back and comment on it.
Thanks for your input!👍
it's a sculpture on wheels. No need to win any races.
Yeah Porsche has the better badge and performance but TBH it ends there.
Also, that Lexus badge combined with the beautiful looks of this car is still plenty prestigious.
@@EdwardViaTomatoindeed ! Well said
@danielmiller9012 I agree, but others place more importance on brand unfortunately.
@@RichWithCars Yeah Porsche has better performance and superior tech
But LC500 has the edge in ride quality and considerably better interior fit / finish
Only way for Porsche to be close in terms of fit and finish/overall quality is if you get the club leather options for like 5k and spend an additional 10k+ on the extended leather packages.
Not to mention that Porsche will be worthless in 15 years, while LC will be at least double the price @danielmiller9012
I traded my 992.1 C4s for a 2024 Lc500 and as much as I love porsche. As a daily tool I love the LC500 so much more
I picked the LC500 for the NA engine, got the feels more similar to my Ftype but better ride quality and comfort on longer rides
Can't go wrong with a NA V8. As we all know, it's a dying breed, which surprisingly Corvette is still keeping alive with their recent flat plane LT6.
Easy choice, LC500 looks better inside and out. Super car looks with a luxury feel, best of both worlds.
Definitely feels more luxurious and gives more of that "special feeling"...
Enjoy!
Why could you not get the v8 in Paris may I ask?

Exactly
A repair headache? You’re kidding right?
I owned a 991.2 TurboS daily drive it and that thing is solid. Porsche is not McLaren or Ferrari. It is German engineering at its finest.

Great job! Depends on what you want. Both have advantages. Porsche is faster, just crazy engaging to drive! But the LC 500 is great, less expensive, you can drive it forever. Both look great on the road
Agreed. Porsche is like a scalpel on the road. The LC is a rolling piece of art....
911 for the driving experience, status and resale value. Nothing will compare. A 911 will always be a classic.
I do agree that the 911 will ALWAYS be a classic....
Thanks for the review. Most of us like me , were really confused which one to buy. You saved me!
🤔🤷
Is the LC driver seat upholstery that dirty/worn? Or is that just how the material appears on camera? 4:50
Congrats!
The LC interior wears poorly. Search for used LCs and look at the seats and armrest surfaces. They usually look rough.
Hi Rich, which one has bigger rear seat space?
I'd say the LC 500 does...
Really nice review. Never driven either of these cars but driven a lot of lexus and they definitely have that relaxed driving style.
M4 Comp is pretty solid tho - it's a great all arounder with performance, tech and convenience.
@@RichWithCars that’s exactly why I got it. And I think it looks great too. Could be the most well rounded car on the market
@samrosen9823 enjoy it man!
I’ve been waiting since 2018 for the LC to ditch the trackpad. They finally put in a touchscreen for 2024 so I just put a deposit down with my local Lexus dealer to get 1st dibs on a 2024 when they get it in
@@robertblaney5033 congrats! Yes, many people were hoping for an updated infotainment system.
Would you consider adding a turbo into the lc500
No I wouldn't. The NA engine is what gives this car its soul....
Excellent review. 911 are very nice but LC is the last of its kind.
Its another V8 automatic... The Porsche is the only one offering Manual 7 speed, Flat 6 NA better sounding engines... You got it backwards
I just got the lc 500 and its the only car I drive no regrets
Nicholas Davis congrats on getting the LC! You'll love it! Drive her in good health. 👍 Make sure to join the Club Lexus forum for additional info (in the LC500 category)!
It’s definitely not a deal breaker, if you’re after a performance cruiser.
Completely agree.
I am just glad I found a real great deal at my local Lexus dealership in Honolulu
2019 w less than 3k miles l, sold for 75K. Great value.
The Porsche was great, and 5 years ago it would probably be my choice. Maybe the next go around, as that itch still needs scratching.
@RichWithCars it's infrared. Gorgeous. Definitely a future classic, like the 1st gen NSX, a unique value proposition.
@TheWrathofHellfire the infrared was the launch color of the LC. Can't get any better!
The door handle and paddle shifters are magnesium on the lc not aluminum.
Really? I know another LC owner who's 6'5 and fit in ok. I'm 6'1 and no issues whatsoever. Everybody's different. 🤷
Toyota seating has always been weird . I just picked up an IS500 and I’m 6’6 I definitely comfortably , so I’m sure the LC500 seating is comfortable.
I'm 6'3" too. My 24 LC500 has plenty of room
LC has a kit on it. It's sick. How's are the seats holding up on the LC? Can you clean stains off suede or alcantera?
Seats are doing fine. I maintain them quite well, and haven't had the misfortune of having to clean dirty Alcantara...

Not on idle. But when pushing that flat 6 on open roads, it really sounds nice. Different tho - very mechanical sound....
4:20 The LC beats the fk out of the 911 on the interior. No if ands or buts. My LC smells like a fine leather store when i get in it hits you like a murderer smothering your face with a glorious leather glove.
To much? 😂
Admittadly i detail my car myself. Chemical Guys
Not only does the LC beat the 911 on the interior design, but it beats out many others as well that are 10's or 100's of thousands $$$ more....
You did not own a 911. Maybe a 9/11 but I am not sure what that is..
Love both and have been a 911 fan for a long time but if I'm looking for a performance vehicle to own over the long-term (factoring service and maintenance costs) the LC is very compelling.
Yup. The 911 is a fun car to drive and outperforms the LC. But I believe the LC is a better looking and rarer all-around GT car....
Lexus all day long
👍
LC500 all day. I like Porsche, but once I'm in that territory I'm probably more into AMG offerings.
LC500 to own/drive until dead.
GT3 Touring if resale is critical.
AMG GT and AMG SL if we're talking F-U money. I just love their presence.
Carrera for
Very true - but I wouldn't consider the AMG's as FU money....I'd say more towards the Ferraris and Lambos are closer to FU money...
I'm seriously considering a Vantage F1 edition, but the depreciation on that is truly atrocious! I def don't have that kind of FU money to not care about that!
GT-R
Best daily for F-U money

LC 500 is a head turner and extremely smooth and fast. It has ever thing you need and good trunk space. 2021 RCF Owner
RCF is also very solid, which uses the same 2UR-GSE engine. The LC is more of a GT car tho....definitely a head turner. 👍
@@RichWithCars both are indeed very solid ! My buddy has a black LC500 convertible. 80,000 miles with zero issues.
@@RichWithCars haha!!! Well said, my friend. Well said indeed

@@RichWithCars thank you!
Yeah, the 911 is on a different level of performance. The LC is definitely a gem in its own right. Sick lineup you have - enjoy! 💪
I have questions for your sick looking LC500 I wish if you could clear them for me:

911 is an amazing car, no doubt about that. It’s a legend. However, the LC500 is one of a kind.
So true. 911 has been around for generations, whereas the LC will most likely only have one generation and that's it!
They are for 2 different types of drivers , not sure why they are even compared
Many LC500 current owners were cross shopping these two, even though I agree with you.
The LC is just too beautiful compared to anything else. Have you had any maintenance issues during your five years of ownership? Thanks.
No maintenance issues whatsoever...I did have a few issues with the vehicle, covered in this video below:
ruclips.net/video/RGyl-mvWlUk/видео.htmlsi=rUawHD1cUe9bxY-z
For an everyday sports GT the LC500 hands down. That car is the best looking vehicle on the road!
I have to agree that the LC, in terms of design and looks, probably sits on top of the list.
Love the colour of your LC500 ❤
Thank you! 🙏
It is not a simple question. It depends on your budget, what you want from the car and how you intend to use it and ultimately which car gives you a feel good factor (important for a coupe). If budget is an issue LC500 for sure. Money no object, get a 911 Turbo s.
So so so so true! 911 Turbo S is on the top of my list as one of the best daily drivable exotics - if you'd even consider the 911 Turbo an exotic....
Cross shopping both. I love the 911 but for my lifestyle a luxurious grand tourer suits me more - I pick Lexus 😄
For sure - everyone is different. GT for me all day long.
Went through that 2018, I ended up choosing 2014 Porsche GTS, and I am a Lexus guy. There is nothing drives like a 911 when it comes to sports car driving.
I agree 100%. Like I mentioned in the video, the 911 is a scalpel...
LEXUS for me....
Yup....
what color is that Lexus ?
Nightfall Mica. It's a dark blue with metallic flakes in turquoise and purple
Great comparison 👍🏼
Thanks...👍
I am the proud owner of a ‘23 LC500 Convertible. The looks are scrumptious. Interior is like sitting in a leather cocoon. Strong engine and super engine note . Drive it. You’ll buy it🏖️
Enjoy it! Definitely true to all that you said!
2 different types of cars. Not a valid question. You are comparing apples to oranges. Daily driver the LC500. Fun weekend car 911. Excellent video.
@Maloney7 Thanks so much for watching and for your kind words. Feel free to let me know of any topics or cars you'd like to see. 👍
@@RichWithCars I would love for you to compare the Tesla and Rivian truck when they both are in production.
resale value?
You buy a Porsche to drive, not prick around with calling your girl or changing tracks on your Christina Aguilera album.
@@RichWithCars I am a BMW M550 driver and I am not reckless lol. Now looking to LC 500 ownership.
Bone stock
1:45 Yea but most ppl do not account for the BASE 911 being right on target of 4.5 to 60. The LC500 should not be compared to a 2CS/4CS they are faster. You can smite them only if you catch them off guard. Thats fun. ;)
@@aurorajones8481 4.5 sec to 60 mph for base 911 is what Porsche claims. It is more like 3.6 - 3.8 sec. Porsche claims that because base 911 performance is very close to S model and does not justify the price differential. Try a base 911..
@@PC-xj2mwI’ve driven a base and S 911 and there is a huge difference in acceleration, not even close.
The LC is not even in the same league as this Porsche. No need for comparison.
From a performance perspective, you're correct - but people still cross-shop the 2 vehicles.
LEXUS LC 👌😎👍 THE PERFECTION ❤
👍💪👍
LC 500 For me. 🔥😍🤙🏼
👍
Only complaint about t he 911 is all that piano black... I feel like that shouldn't be on cars upwards of 100k or more. I mean, I wouldn't tolerate it on a 60-80k car, let alone the 911.
Sure - to each their own. I have no issues with the piano black, except that it gets dirty very easily.
Yeah - definitely agree that they're 2 very different vehicles, as you said. Since I'm driving one of the 2 on a daily basis, I'd also take the LC
I’ll take the lc 500 hands down
From a "dual personality" and beauty perspective, I completely agree.
deep blue color ..right?
Yes - nightfall mica
LC 500 any day. Comfort, reliability, great performance all in a beautiful package. You can keep the Porsche.
Very true, but the Porsche is a phenomenal sports car....
I wish I had the problem of deciding between which of these two vehicles to purchase. I’ll just stick with my SC430 as a happy camper.
SC430 is still very solid!
@@RichWithCars
I had to wait awhile to purchase a decent SC430 used. Would love to have an LC500 tho.
The Lexus LC is the most reliable luxury car on the planet.
Not sure if it's the MOST RELIABLE ON THE PLANET.....
Agreed!!
My first choice would be …
… to remove the beads dangling from the rear view mirror 😂
Thanks for the comparison, I’d choose the LC 500 any day but in convertible form.
🤦♂️
Convertible is also nice, but a little less dynamic.
@@RichWithCars True. Suspension wise etc. but I accept the trade off.
LC 500 FOR ME!
👍
Completely agree. I'd go for non optioned out exhaust and wheels and go to the aftermarket instead.
I am thinking about trading my 06 911 Carrera in for an 01 LC500 Convertible. Torn! If the LC was AWD it would be a done deal.
Have you test driven the LC500? If not, I highly recommend you do. Why AWD? Are you planning on driving it in snowy conditions? Otherwise, having a rwd is a better experience imo
I want both 😊
Me too! Actually, just add the 911...
In Australia a 3 year old base 911 is 300k. A 3 year old base lc500 is 150k. People are not cross shopping these two cars
I completely understand, but based on what I was reading through the forums, some people were.
I agree. Both are amazing in their own ways. They each have the advantages and disadvantages. It all depends on what aspects the buyer prioritizes.
@RichWithCars I Love your car . It's beautiful n done absolutely perfect
Convertible or coupe is the only question on the LC500.
Yes - to each their own. If I'd have to do it all over again, I'd go coupe once again.....
Depends which 911. But I can see daily driving a 911 GTS.
2 completely different price points. My budget won't allow the Porsche so I'm stuck with the LC500.... which is still what I'd pick over a Corvette.
Being "stuck" with the LC500 ain't so bad....🤔
@@RichWithCars not at all. It's actually my choice within my budget.
I’m lucky I have both. They are spectacular in their own rights, but I won’t compare them. The LC is a GT car, the attention to details is out of this world.
The 911 is more exhilarating to drive, but is behind in quality of fabrication.
You couldn't have said it any better. Enjoy them both in good health!
