- In order to join the UC Vanguard you have to pass a flight exam and get through a probationary mission. The flight exam is a test in a simulator to see just how good of a pilot you are. There are 6 tiers, or waves of enemies you can defeat. Though you only need to pass tier 3 in order to pass the exam. Maybe you’ve clicked on this video because you’ve tried your hand at the flight exam, can’t quite pass the last tier, and want to see what happens if you do. Well this is the video does exactly that as well as tell you how to beat it, and if it’s worth it.

Just an FYI, there is a skill that requires you destroy a certain amount of ships to continue investing skill points into it (this skill allows you to pilot bigger, better ships), and this simulator is a great way to grind out those kills
I thought about that when grinding said skill but ended up just hunting pirates instead. Lol that's awesome it actually works though! 🤣
I just murdered innocent people tbh
Broooo tysm lol grinded that crap out in like 20mins, sadly it didn't change my inaccessibility level for the ship I was trying to steal as I thought this was the issue, but I got the access to B and C now, and know I can complete stage 6 for my NG+ run as I did it twice while doing this lol.
it really is, i did it under 30 mins, great farm, i thought more people knew about it lol.
Both piloting & targeting systems.
Worth remembering that the simulator mission gives you progress on all your starship skills as if the combats were real. If you fail several times, it can actually work out better for you as the simulator resets but your skill progress doesn't. There's a limit, in that you cannot access your character sheet while in the simulator. But if you have a bunch of ship skills unlocked when you go in, you should be able to rank up handily.
I noticed that when my piloting skill started skyrocketing. I thought it was a nice touch since I didn't actually expect it to count, even though it makes sense why it does.
So if I am getting this right you rank up in the real fight try to unlock as much as possible then go to simulator did I get that right?
@@Scorpio_1974You want at least 1 rank in each of your ship skills going in. The only thing the simulator does is apply progress to ship skill challenges, but you can only complete one level of challenge for each skill because you can’t open your skills menu to rank up inside the simulator. Because you end up fighting soooo many ships, it’s arguably more worthwhile for you at Pilot 3 than Pilot 1. Make sense?
@@cjtipton934 except that you can go back as many times as you want after actually joining the vanguard. unless they've patched that since i did it i literally just saved up skill points and used the simulator to spam the challenges 1 to 4
@@gryphon3241that's exactly what I did. Saved some skill points, then just spent some time in the simulator, bam, piloting level 4, C class ships now unlocked!
HOW TWO BEAT T6: When the enemies spawn, keep a 5k distance from them. Then boost your ship in the opposite direction from them. Hold down space to drift and turn your ship around to face the enemie. They will approach you single file, with the faster (weaker) ships getting in range of your weapons first. You can take them down one by one this way, reguardless of you lvl.
Oh and use the asteroids to block other ships from firing on you. Really nice to have butt towards the asteroid and them have to come to you.
I just had level 2 in piloting, level 4 in targeting, and level 4 in shielding.
Level 6 was easy with that build
Ah didn't realize that space is to drift in this game.
How to beat T6
Set the difficulty to very easy.
No way you can reprogram the sim like kirk did in star trek lol love it!
remember there is no such thing as a no-win scenario.
Agreed!!! Such a cool nod to Kirk’s solution in ST:WoK.
Ah, the Kobayashi Maru 🖖🏼
@@Shadow__133 Yeah that scene always made me well up with happiness.
I was struggling to beat lv.4 (just speed-running the sim for the skills, so dying was not a focus), then I finally listened/read the guy from outside hinting to "restart" the sim from the inside...........
... and I smiled thinking "I'll pull a Kirk's hack...." even before looking at the terminal.
Not done yet because I want to grind it a bit more (mostly the "destroy targeted ships" for targeting in quiet, low tiers), but DEFINITELY an hack that I will perform at the end for "story" purpose.
Funny thing is that they actually approve if you do since that is good out of the box thinking ... and still don't expect you to actually beat Tier 6.
Figuring out the simulator for a while made me much better at flying/ship combat. I struggled so much with the ship combat at first but running the tiers with the more agile simulation ship let me realize how to keep ships in my sights by slowing down and moving both sticks. At level 5 or 6, I managed to eek out Tier 6 with no particularly good ship skills by fully hacking the debug menu, gave me upgrades for every tier and some fairly effective allies to deal damage and draw aggro.
Jesus Christ this mission was batshit insane,by far the hardest thing I've ever done in a Bethesda game..
Thanks for the tips man!
There is a key you can find that unlocks additional options in the debug menu. The boats carry over from tier to tier and you can bring in a super ally.
Where is the key?
@RedlinePush Where's the key (agreeing with @TitanFaIIen)
@@Drag0n647 You can pick the lock if you have level one in Security. I actually used this to grind a couple of locks to level up the Security skill.
I never did find a key though.
@TitanFaIIen So, do you need to max out security or no, to lock pick it?
@@Drag0n647 You do not need to max security to pick that lock. You need one or two levels in Security. Sorry I can't remember specifically
I got to Tier 4 on my first try. Tried tier 5 a couple times but at level 10, I just didn’t know what I was doing and had no skill points invested in flying yet. My payout was 5800, I think, at level 10. Glad to see I didn’t miss out on anything. There are not many ship upgrade videos out there. You should do one on how to make the Mantis as OP as possible.
Same, managed to kill one in t5 but the moment they killed my engines...i was done
Same here. 5 was rough.
Mantis is already pretty op in the fact that pirates usually scan you and run away.
if you want an OP mantis, use the vanguard beams.
deletes everything
particle beam weapons, upgrade it to class B, get a set of normal particle beams, get a set of Vanguard class A auto particle beams, and get a set of turret particle beams.
For the normal and turret, I prefer the PB series, for my normals I have PB-175 helion beams currently, and for the turrets I have PBO-100 auto neutrons.
I actually do not use the vanguard ones as I have EM weapons as a secondary weapon, so I can disable ships I want to disable.
If you are good at dogfighting, full power to the normals and you can get away with minimal power to the turrets if you are short on power after maxing out shields and engines.
(you shouldn't be having power issues though, it is easy to get enough power to fully power 2 weapons systems maxxed at 12 points on a class B ship.
You want the SA series engines, I know they are class A, but they have good stats and only take up 2 power points per engine, you can max mobility easily with just 4 of them, even though my mantis is upgraded to class B, I have it built like a class A. Ares cockpit, 1 stroud eckland workshop, Deimos bay, nova docker top, theres no ladders or different levels inside the ship and it has all the essentials.
For shield I also only have a shield that takes 8 power to keep maxed, I have the warden sg-300. It gives 930 for 8 power and is excellent power to shield ratio.
the ares cabin and nova cowling give plenty of hardpoints for weapons, if you need more you can get a nova weapon mount or some stroud decorative hulls with taiyo equipment plates.
For my turrets I have 2 on top, and 1 on each side, I find this gives me the best coverage for enemies, I always have 3-4 turrets shooting at the enemy due to how I fly, even if the enemy is behind me.
The reason I use the weapons I do is that they use 3 energy each so you can have 4 of each, and they have a good damage to power ratio.
The vanguard auto beams are very powerful and only take 2 power so you can run 6, but I find they are unnecessary, I play on very hard and have never encountered an enemy where I needed them to beat, even punching above my weight and fighting class C ships higher level than me.
But if you really feel you need the extra firepower, they are great, I personally do not like the auto beams because of the reload time, I prefer the normals since they are constant and never reload, you just keep blasting and I find it to be more stable dps.
With the auto cannons sure they do crazy damage, but there are times the enemy boosts and is untargetable, I find that occasionally I am waiting on a reload and by the time i get the reload the enemy does the boost evade, leaving me with a lot of downtime not doing damage and taking damage from others, I find this less than ideal so I just avoid them altogether.
If you keep your mobility at 100, you should be able to outmaneuver any ship you come across and be able to stay behind them with some experience in doing so, no matter what weapons you run, you should never struggle in a 1v1, if you do, you really need to up your mobility or get more used to staying behind the enemy which only takes practice.
Looks like ill have to wait until NG+ to go back and do it. I got teir 4 on my first try.
Me too, teir 5 was insane.
@@alexorobas267at tier five I knew it was a wrap 2 secs in
Same
Same, tier 5 spawned like 5-6 ships it was over before it even began
It’s crazy but u can kinda do NG+ if you pick the right ending to the main story line
Go in the middle of the abandoned space station and hold E like you’re exiting the ship while they’re shooting at you. They’ll fly around and hit the station a bunch of times and explode and you won’t take any damage then get back on the seat
thank you friend. This would not be a bethesda game without these funny exploits
Omfg thank you so much. From an early game standpoint I didn’t want to head out. This helped a lot, thanks!
I didn’t want to pass the opportunity but o beat alll 6 tiers myself lol
Thank you so so much!
Honestly, this is a way more Kobayashi Maru-esque solution than a debug menu built into the game, well done :-)
I was able to complete tier 4… no debug… didn’t even notice it. Soldier background gave me some dialogue options in the debrief and citizenship in 5 years (instead of 10).
Same for me and I quit after completing tier 3
I'll definitely not leave there until I beat tier 6 when I get there. Some sim practice might come in handy later.
Great video, didn't realize in the first few hours of the game pilot skills were even useful!
Didn't even know about the debug tool T6 was really nearly impossible. T5 was hard but being cheap with hiding behind asteroids was a huge help
Cool to see what happens if you beat it all! I completed tier 4 before it felt impossible to me xD
Tier 4 on my first try. Good video. Thanks!
Thanks for this vid. I tried for ages with my very low level character trying different strategies. After many, MANY tries, 1 or 2 times I hit tier 6 but then died immediately. Best I got was tier 5 beat. Not the first try though. First try I think was beating tier 4 before I discovered the debug controls
Doing as many waves as you can also helps get your Piloting skill leveled up faster, which means you can use B and C Class parts earlier.
Poon
I got to tier 6 on my first run I didn't go to Vanguard till like my 4th time going through Game +, I was already around level 150 at the time. I'm now at level 290 and I've already done all the campaigns multiple times. And I'm still not board of this game its sooo much fun. For all those who are reading this comment and don't yet have the game trust me when I say this beating the game does not put an end to the adventure more I'd say that when you truly begin as there's so much to do.
Almost a 1,000 planets & moons to visit build base steal ships its endless...But you got these pro gamers that has ego's I AM BORED already! smh!
What the fuck dude
I just beat it at *_Level 5_* with only 1 point the *_Piloting_* skill, no debug. I got 16800 credits.
Took me a long time, too. You can quicksave in the middle of the simulation. The ship thrusters are ESSENTIAL to killing an enemy in 1 pass. My strategy was to RUN AWAY and hide behind a giant asteroid at the edge of the map. Let the first ship see you so he doesn't destroy the asteroid, kill him and RUN directly toward the others and beeline to another asteroid behind them. This should allow you to regen your shields and set up to ambush 1 more ship. In a 1 on 3, with half shields, you should be ok. But you NEED to use thrusters to stay behind your enemies and to slightly dodge their fire.
I used 3 quicksaves in the last fight. Took me over an hour to learn how to use the thrusters properly. I had 2 pts in missile, max engine, max shields, 1 less than max in lasers and the rest in ballistics. Using missiles on shields is important. The ballistics should be more than good enough to kill a hull in 1 go.
Yes, same as you except that I am chase them, not hide from them. And I was pro at dodging so rarely for me to have shield that completely exhausted. And I was so close to beat six, just last ship get me. Maybe I should try hide?
Thank you for making this video bro. It helps so much!
I got it on my 4th or 5th try, found the debug tool pretty quickly as I was snooping around before starting. I also had minimal skills in that tree, pilot 2, boost pack 4 targeting 1, security 2 and starship design 2. Most of my skill points are in physical and science trees.
I'll be honest it felt like the Kobayashi Maru test so I didn't feel bad about "cheating"
Its a good way for leveling up your ship tech perks
Yup and getting a higher piloting skill
On very easy with the debug menu to make the enemy ships easier it’s not very hard
I beat tier 6 first try, pretty easy and never reset for its trial. The key is using the destroyed space station shipyard to block the numerous ships that attack at once from firing, use less engines and more weapon power
I hope to put my piloting skills and finish that quest looks fun!
If you’ve already beaten the sim or passed this part of the story, don’t fret!!!!! You CAN still use the flight simulator after you’ve gone past the flight sim encounter while becoming ranger. The sims will both look like they are being used, and the attendants won’t acknowledge you, but ignore that and just activate the flight sim door. You will always be able to use the flight sim! Proven ❤
where is the building?? im trying to find it again
Above the NAT station in the MAST district
I just beat the lvl 6 simulation with a lvl 4 character. For what I heard this is extremely challenging and I feel accomplished.
Good job, man. I stopped after 4 because I'm super impatient but I could've probably gotten there too
(I was also level 2-4 at the time)
If you really want the credits you can also switch to a lower difficulty. Managed to beat it on normal after a while without a ton of ship related traits.
Just managed to go all the way through at level 7 with no points towards tech… just to find out about the debugging thing from you, tried it two more times and got it! I hate that I tried so hard…
Joining the Vanguard for the signing bonus became my go to when running NG+ and you want to make those credits fast for a few essential ship upgrades and to kit yourself out.
I'm getting 54k for tier 6
That Simulator is a gold mine for power level skills including lock picking, star ship design, most ship combat, and a few others i love it.
Got to 4 on first try! Love the suggestions!!
Nice video - I am going to try this in my new 3rd play thru at very low level to see what happens. First time thru I made it to lvl 4. New game 2 was my second time at level 40 finished level 5, got a 5 year deal. Never used the bonus stuff. I have not played the game all the way thru all the missions on either play thru. ATM, I have no desire to get to NG+ stuff. This is my first RPG game.
Now I know what to do into my 2 gameplay. Love they content
Sounds like I'll be embracing my stubbornness to get this damn thing done
Just as an aside, do take the time to talk to the old man in the museum, theres no quest from it, but his thoughts on war are very captivating, it almost sounds like they got a real soldier in to read the lines. Was a surprise to hear such eloquence from "Patron"
I beat all the waves at level 7 with only ship targeting at level one. Where I did find the debug tools and stuff, I did not use them on the run that I beat the final tier, and it wasn't skill or luck either. I cleared the first 4 waves by staying near the abandoned space station so the AI would have a line-of-sight issue. When the final wave started, I was considering using the debug tools, so I got out of the chair and noticed that the other ships kept flying around but were not shooting at my craft. After a while they all got tangled into the station and died due to impact damage. I passed the last wave by letting the AI defeat itself.
The way I beat the final tier without any upgrades, is by "docking" (or simply just flying into) the abandoned staryard that's floating somewhere within the simulation, in a spot where I'm surrounded by structured and plenty of parts that stick out from the staryard.
Usually I do this right after I lose the round, then hop back and fly there immediately before the round starts, giving me a headstart.
After you let the round play out, and have the enemies swarm your location, simply exit your simulator chair, after which their aggro stops and they'll just fly around your location.
Because there's so much to bump into, they'll eventually fly themselves to their deaths.
It will certainly take a long while, so put on a video on your second monitor or phone, and wait until you get that pop-up of completion.
5 years if you get tier five. Which is what I got after I started the mission only to farm for ship takedowns for a certification challenge. Sarah will also reveal specifically that it took her 9 years with some "false starts." sounds like she was above average, but she made some mistakes.
it was ez, i just quicksaved after killing each enemy lol... maybe its cheesy, but it worked. no points into piloting or tech skills at level 6. Maximized my engine power so i could hit and run to recover, quicksave, then repeat for each enemy downed..
whats your game difficult at the time of beating it?
@@shade6258 normal, I never really play on any more difficult settings
@@ItsAustinSea I don't know if difficulty setting makes a difference, but I can't beat tier 5 with any cheese strat I can come up with at very hard difficulty.
Hit & run doesn't work for me in tier 5 because the enemy literally destroys the cover (meteors) and I can barely break through their shields after unloading all of my ammo maybe damaging 5% of their spaceship health.
@@shade6258 use ship parts to restore hull, for me it's pressing in (RS), constant health recovery for 10 seconds
@@ItsAustinSea Okay I did try this on very easy, you take tiny amount of damage and enemies take a ton more. I think it's nearly impossible at low level and difficulty setting set to very hard.
Can confirm difficulty setting changes things drastically. It would be nice if someone would post a video showing how it's done at very hard and low level.
All right, a bit late to this party but there is a way to make tier 6 easier as long as you dont mind it taking a while. The main problem with T6 is that you are heavily outnumbered and outgunned. You can take on any one of the ships just fine, but getting pounded by the others while you do is a sure method to getting wiped. So first, make a few things easier on yourself. Find the admin key, get your buffs set up. If you are confident in your skills, dont activate the companion ships until level 5 or 6 just so you dont loose one. Make sure you have at least one point in piloting so you can use the afterburner (more points in piloting/shields/weapons always helps but is not strictly necessary for this strat)
Heres the strat. When T6 starts, make sure you have your engines at max power. Use your allied ships as a distraction and try to pick off one of the enemy ships, preferably one of the higher level ones. Then burn hard away from the fight while your allies die valiantly. Keep one of the enemy ships targeted, and just keep running from them until you are 20k+ away from them. This will give your shields time to heal and you can repair if you have taken enough damage to make it worth it. This will also space out the enemies, as they have different speeds and will chase you directly.
Once you are far enough away, flip around, target the closest enemy and start burning back towards them. You should be able to take the ships on 1 or 2 at a time instead of as a group, greatly increasing your chances. Every time you score a kill, choose a new direction away from the other ships and burn hard before they catch up. Rinse, repeat, win.
It is worth doing one time. Then, after you had your exploring of the different outcomes of the faction quest. Just tier 3 and do fast grunt work to get vanguard ship equipment and that’s it.
Damn, talk about perfect timing for a video. I had to run out for the day, so saved right before going into vanguard with Sarah. Guess I know my goal once I get back home... but i can't ignore my pride, my old flight sim games from the old Star Wars TIE Fighter games wont let me. I'm going for tier 6. 😊
Hell yeah love tie fighter
Not sure I should be proud of this but tgm for the win! I went into an extra debug section :P
Super worth mentioning that if you’re playing on Very Hard like I do since the game feels easy then that’s likely why this shit is so hard. I put it on Very Easy just to beat tier V and VI. Piece of cake on that level especially with debug active (security needed). Destroyed tiers V and VI in about 5 minutes.
I got here at level 6... Was I too early? :P Hmm... I guess 4/6 is good enough, will bother with 6/6 on ng+. Cool vid, cheers!
My first time was a the start of my game, using it to get a head-start on my Piloting skill, made it to tier 4, but tier 5 i could take out 1, maybe 2 ships before going down myself.
Managed to take out half the ships on tier 6 with no points in ship tech tree, but yeah need those extra skills.
May be possible with luck if you can get a good combo of asteroids to hide behind and pick the ships off one by one, in the open your dead though.
I got it on the first try, but it was close. Victory was only achieved by repairing the ship mid combat by pressing 0. Its not that hard if you use the asteroids as cover and if you try to get behind your enemies as quickly as possible. Boost towards them and then slow down to turn better. If your shields go down, boost away and try to get behind an asteroid. Once recovered get on again.
I first try cleared t6. Did the crimson fleet missions before hitting the UC, so i had max flight shield perk honestly pretty easy with that.
Lol, when I first figured out there was a Tier 6, it became my main goal to beat it, and I did through some clever power management, luck and skill. I used the debug, but I passed w/o an ally to absorb the attention.
Thanks for saving us the skill points 😀
I got tier 4 on my first try. Although i was pretty upgraded by then i was rank 39 and had a few good skill upgrades.
You know what they say the ten times the charm :) . I was finaly able to do this by hiding behind one of the big asteroid when tier 6 started then boosting out when they passed to get behind them it was damm close do my hull was nearly done but damm it was satisfying .
Tier 5 first try with rank 1. Tier 6 was pretty much impossible with the sim ship. I didnt know there was a debug tool lol
Too me
I just flew through the astroids and picked em off ine at a time. Worked well enough. Playing on normal.
This took me so long to complete, I set it at very easy difficulty and used my ally and debug ally on the last tier. It was so much easier once I changed the difficulty. I passed all tiers at lvl 10. Good luck guys!
Think I completed tier 4 or 5 and got told citizenship in 5 years and Sarah commented on how many years it took her to gain citizenship but can’t remember how many years she said it took, I want to say 8.
I can tell from the dialogue response that you only used the regular debug tools. If you hack the "Authorized Users Only" option with digipicks, it gives you a second ally and even better upgrades. Cmdr Tuala will mention it with different dialogue than with the regular debug. Doesn't change the outcome/reward, just slightly different response. I would like to see someone do something like the girl who flew all the way to pluto, and sleep forward three years and see if you actually get the citizenship that way. Would take a long time, though, since you can only sleep 24 hours at a time.
Good to know, thank you.
By pressing the space bar + WASD you can move your ship up , down , left and right, this is VERY usefull to dodge shots
Only if you have the thruster skill.
@@FlyfishermanMikeI have it and it doesn't help dodge many bullets if any in surrounded fights
@@SyIis Paired with your booster and a little practice it's a fantastic option!
Just set the game difficulty to very easy just for tier 6 if you wanna get it over with. Without any tech upgrades
I can't wait for modders to use the combat space sim for something though!
Ngl i waltzed in at level 25 and cleared tier 6 without debug (didn’t know that was a thing until just now) because I dumped every single skill point into flying techs because i love the space combat.
Got to tier 6 first try 🔥💯.
If you have prior service like either soldier or combat madic you can get the UC citizenship part lowered
on hard dificulty i wasnt able to come past tier 3, but my characterlevel was 8
You such and Awesome job. But I do hate the RUclips Algo. You dropped out of my feed for some reason. Having to go back and watch Videos I missed.
I completed it without the debug tools and did it on normal. I think I just got lucky because I was flying around the asteroids to help prevent some damage.
I beat tier 6 but never did the mission after only used it to level perks, good to know this is a thing for when I do the UC Vanguard quest line.
You get access to some of the best ship equipment in the game for completing the probationary mission. The Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojectors are the second best weapon in the game, and the Vanguard shield is the second best Class B shield.
Lol, I just did this, didnt know about the debug menu. Still managed to put away 2 enemies in t5 before failing
As soon as I realized it was the kobayashi Maru I knew what I had to do😂
I love to flight simulation it's perfect for completing your targeting and piloting challenges. Saves wear n tear on my ship
If anyone wants to beat the flight sim first try, the easiest way is hit-and-run tactics. The first 4 levels aren't bad, but starting at level 5, you should try and start hiding right near an asteroid, then after the first ship comes into view, empty everything you have, even with no levels you should be able to pick it off somewhat quick, then boost behind another asteroid to get your shield to regen and repair your ship, continue on with that until you've cleared the stage.
RCS slide around using the spuds as cover. That's what I do lol the ai cant reconcile all that turn and burn yet
I got on to tier 5 and died, so when i spoke to the guy he said i completed tier 4, and that i get a certain boost to my joining pay because of how 'well' i did
I was going to give up but then i finished all the levels. You have to kite the fighters away first then finish off the big ones.
I didn't notice the debug tools at first and got stuck on round 4. I was looking for a Star Trek reference like the Kobiashi Maru cheat, but the debug tool was fine.
Cant believe no one is talking about this but if you cant beat a tier you can totally cheese it.
Take your ship over to the space station and hop out your seat. Your ship takes zero damage when your not in your pilot seat ( in the simulater ) only. Than just kick back and watch tv or something as the enemy ships run into the space station like kamikazis.
I waited until I was level 69 and then started the UC quests and I got tier 6 first try but I did use the debug and even hacked the debug tools to give myself 2 allied ships it was on very hard as well and it sure wasn’t easy but I had maxed out my piloting skills before I started the UC quests so I tore through all of the tiers
WYI the pilot test is a parody of Star Trek where Kirk beats the impossible no win kobayashi maru test by cheating he changed the conditions of the test in the same way you can with the debug menu.
I did realise this during the test but thought I'd need some kind of hacking skill to do it and but it was literally a fresh Combat Medic character so had no hacking or ship skills and believed that there was nothing I could do about the situation.
But teir 5 is not shabby definitely very lucky and some skill but I didn't know about the debug menu or I definitely would have used it knowing what I did about Kirks test in Star Trek as he too was praised for out of the box thinking.
I completed 6 without debug tools on my second try, but granted that was with a pretty wide assortment of piloting skills, and over 3000 hours of Elite: Dangerous behind me. Shame the glory is all you really get, I was hoping for a nifty surprise.
I managed tier 6 w/o debug the first time I ran the sim. I was I think lvl 16ish, but had invested heavy into ship combat and repair skills as I leveled up. I didn't really think tier 6 was difficult at all. It was more like.. I need to up the difficulty of the game to hard or very hard from normal to make it even a slight challenge. At very hard, it was a harder fight, but I had ship repair crates, so by the time 6 spawned in, my ship was fully repaired and I only had to pop one more ship repair to finish the fight with 30% hull left. It's def not Star Citizen level combat against another player, and the AI is surprisingly stupid. Asteroids make great shields while repairing etc. Gotta use the field.
If you do tier 6 and use the "authorised user only menu" I got 54000 for completion. (keep upgrades every tier and spawn an extra ally).
Beat it at level 5 with no debug and little to no techs. My trick was gtfo of the spawn area. And hug a big asteroid. Once the big one is dead the rest are easy. Hug the big ones so you can let your shields regen.
I reached tier 4, 5 was rough. No skills in tech.
Then i found out about this loophole in the simulator. I cheesed a game inside a game, felt hilarious. I hide in the space station, leave the pilot seat and all the enemy ships ram the station until they explode. Need to sit in the seat between waves to take aggro. Took 35 min.
Boy am I glad I saw this before the mission 😅
Thanks for doing this, now I don't have to :)
T6 is easy once you get the trick down, even at a low level. I believe I was level 5 or 6 when I did it.
First, get the master card off the toolbox under the other flight sim. Then head to your test and begin. Once you've begun, get up and activate all the dev commands/debuts and breeze your way up to T5. Immediately after completing tier 5, and I mean immediately, max out engine power, turn and face the planet, and gtfo of there. Keep boosting and flying towards the planet until your targeted enemy is 25km away. Once you hit that mark, flip the ship around and select the nearest target, then wait. Once they make it to roughly 3.5km, start lighting up the closest ship with your energy weapons and missles. The first ship should go down relatively easy, but there will be two more. Take them out and dash away 10km from your nearest enemy while your shields regen, and you're able to repair, then flip around and rinse and repeat.
I was unable to figure out how to quit the test after finishing the mandated three. And didn't figure it out unitl I apparently finished 5. Had I known, I'd would have stayed and at least attempted the last one.
I had hardly any skill in the tech tree and got tier 6. Just have to think about allocation and targets.
Beat tier six at level 5 no problem my first try. Maybe game difficulty has something to do with it. I was playing on easy.
Huh never found the debug menu and my ego wouldn't let me quit until I beat it. Took me a dozen tries but I eventually made it. I was around level 36 at the time as I cleared a lot of other quest before joining the vanguard.
4th tier was my first time ending. My question is how to access the panel ad it wants me to initiate the simulation before using it. And once I start Sim it doesn't let me just pause Sim and get up to access the panel, does it?
Idk man, maybe I'm just a super good pilot but I beat it with no energy or ballistic weapon skill boosts. Just one point into max speed and maxed shields. Was playing on normal difficulty. I also got up from the seat after wave 5 because I didnt really feel any reason to continue, but when I heard it say "final wave" (I wasn't paying attention how many it said there were in the beginning) I ran back to the seat and beat it.
I beat tier 6 but I didn’t finish joining the van guard in my first place thru but I did join on ng+ but didn’t bother with going to 6 (without debug tool)
On Very hard my first try I got to level five even without a lot of skill points in the right tech skills I lowered the difficulty to normal and barely beat tier 6 I felt so proud I didn’t even know the debug menus existed and I used the asteroids for cover on retries that’s how I beat it
It's easier said than done, but just don't get caught in an enemy ship's line of fire for too long. If they're B-lining to you blasting rockets, boost past them and double back around. Guarantee you'll turn around before they do.
Easy to do in a 1v1, million times more difficult in anything else but still very much possible.
It’s definitely punishing if you let them get a lock on you while your out of boost, especially in the ship your given
I am on game+ -- finished tier 5 ( I have no tech upgrades) with hacked debug system --- so my reward was 14 k credits , and way diffrent dialogue , mentioning about hacking it , about that I emit radiation somesorta -- intresting ;) in one way there is so many outcomes of dialogue
lvl 80 when i finally turn this quest in, got side tracked with just travel around to all the planets etc. But completed tier 6 and no debug got 54k in credits.
