Btw. I’m bringing mine this year backpack hunt Colorado elk bow hunt 10,000+ elevation SOLO. Flat top/White River area. I’ll probably do what some people call a spike hunt. Hike with all your heavy stuff to one location and then hunt from there. Each day. But I’ll have my van set up for the ability to move quickly if needed. It’s only my second year out, so still learning a bunch.
Thanks man! Solo is a whole different beast! We were unsuccessful the last OTC archery trip we did in Colorado but were in elk most days and had a blast. Let us know how it goes for you!
@@DeerandDonuts well, it didn’t go great. The unit was absolutely crowded with people not just hunters. There was three times more people than last year. Whenever I went to glassing points, I kept seeing people and horses and ATVs through my glass, it was pretty discouraging. I had a plan a spot and a Plan B spot but I should’ve had a different unit planned out as well. by the time I decided to give up on the unit it was too late for me to go to another one. I will be trying again next year and doing some local hunts here in tx as well.
×10 or ×12 binoculars with a good Tripod is the best bet. Tripod/bino for long western hunts and active glassing with lightweight pack for Eastern hunts. Thats it
Keep it up I’m watching

Spent a lot of hours behind 12s. For western hunting they are hard to beat!
