Man I wish these videos (or even youtube) existed when I was in high school trying to learn this from my friends. It would've saved me months of trial and error. I can still only do a cow call by rolling my tongue backwards instead of forward. At this point my bad habits are too ingrained, but these videos are so good at finally being able to picture what you're doing instead of going by muscle memory when you're rusty.
I got an elk tag in New Mexico, Unit 34. It's my first Hunt ever. I'm really leaning on trying to get good enough on a bull call to increase my success🤞I'm Glad there is people on RUclips like you who explain in detail for us rookies🙏

The high pitch is difficult for me to hit! Every now and then I can hit it.
I been using the green one hoping that with a lot of practice I can get it down! I have 1 hour commute to and from work so I have plenty of practice time!

What should i use to call in a cow? We got a cow tag and im a first time elk hunter with no clue what to buy
Who's been successful in 2020? I been out every morning, in the elk each day, but haven't got it done yet.
Does the “Contender” sound much different? Mine folds in the center bc I’m assuming it’s too big for my mouth, will that fold effect the sound as well?
One of the videos from Rocky Mountain Hunting Calls specifically talks about that fold in the middle. He said he cuts a little triangle shaped notch in the rear to mitigate that.

finally Cory I just bought every Phelps elk call Cabelas had because no one had a clue as to which I needed although I said Sept 15 rifle season in Northern SASK Canada which is the tail end of the rut,I know I probably need a rag horn mature cow and calf call can You please help me out as I start hunting in less than two weeks????Thanks for all the help your videos have given,kind regards brother KIRBY....

I've been using the green one and so far I have been on a bull for 3 days straight! Makes excellent bugle's and cow calls! Had a 6x6 bugling non stop with that sucker but he would never leave his cows and come in close haha
Thumbs down cause you make it look so easy, but after trying multiple calls for months all I do is get spit every where!
You need to get the basics down and keep trying
