    Haven't had a chance to test if it holds zero, but mounts just fine and has nice clear glass. Centered vertically true to a plumb line with the crosshairs which is always a plus!It's a great ruclips.net/user/postUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope. There's no parallax adjustment or focus ring, so may be limited to 3-7x, have to see how it is on the range. Also be aware that the rings are "look through" so you can still use irons, but they are really tall if you only intend to use the optics. On a 22LR no biggie since I'm not shooting competitions or worried about a hard cheek press. Will boresight and range test, if all goes well, I'll leave it at that!

    The bigger "end" is called an objective lens. A larger objective lens does not necessarily provide a larger field of view. Generally, the field of view in a scope is determined by the magnification combined with the focal length of the objective/eyepiece combination. A larger objective lens does provide for a larger exit pupil which is an advantage in low light conditions and when using higher magnification.

    Cheaper spotting scopes have color separation at higher powers. On the cheaper one at 60x zoom, you can see the purple start to separate from the black on the target. Colors will start to separate into the colors of the rainbow the higher zoom power you apply

    • @Dr.Pepper001
      @Dr.Pepper001 2 года назад +2

      Yes, that purple ring ruins it for me. The more expensive scopes have fully multicoated lenses, but the cheaper ones have multicoated lenses. I'm a purest and the aberration is a show stopper. However, so is the $1,500 price tag on the vortex. I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't.

    Great video. I really enjoyed it. Just an interesting development, SVBONY has updated the SV46 with Extremely Low Dispersion (ED) glass and dual focus. It is called the SV46P ED 20-60x80. It has an MSRP of $329. I believe it dropped Nov 26, 2020. SVBONY also makes the SV 406P (also 20-60x80), with ED glass, but it has a replaceable eyepiece with a standard 1.25" interface, for those that like that feature. I cannot afford the Vortex scopes. They are very good.

  • @vernonbice732
    @vernonbice732 10 месяцев назад

    Based on this review (mainly) I bought the Svbony. I use it for a target spotting scope so resolution was way more important than chromatic aberration. If you read the specs you'll find the higher quality optics are not used in this one so you will get the color issues at higher magnification. If you want photographic quality images at higher magnification levels you need a more expensive scope.
    I do not need photo quality, only the resolution. As you can see in the video the resolution of the objects was as good as the more expensive scope. I have verified at the shooting range that the resolution is good enough to see 6mm bullet holes at 600yd, even with a bit of mirage. It starts getting 'iffy' at 700-800yd. At 1000yd you can see the holes if you use one of the 'color change' targets. At these ranges the mirage can sometimes 'swamp' the image.

    It took you guys long enough to get started, but I would urge people to get the cheaper model. You're not going to see a huge difference in the image sharpness unless you do critical comparisons of the absolute edges, and most people aren't going to notice that. Where you're going to see the biggest difference is in the _colors_ in the images. I had a Swift® 15-60x 60mm back in the 1970s and it was horrible compared to today's budget scopes. Even scopes costing $100 today (w/BAK4 prisms) are far, far, far better than my Swift scope, which set me back $189! Still, I loved watching the mountains with that Swift! Technology has greatly improved lens quality, and sharpness hadn't been the issue. It's the color. The more expensive glass will provide better color balance and separate the colors better and won't let them bleed. But if you only want sharpness, spend $139 and get a Landove® x20-60 80mm. If you want white whites, spend the extra $$$ and you will be happy.

    Interesting review guys, thanks! Side to side the 60x zoomed image makes a big difference in the colours on a white object as seen. That is important cause imagine you are spotting some raindeers over snow, the cheap telescope would be a nightmare! You would never ever find a polar bear then, hahaha! Well, exactly the same on a very bright landscape or some white animals like swans or herons. May not look like too much difference at first glance, but you easily can get tired of that unnnatural colour patterns everywhere as soon as you begin to use intensively the scope, even more if you want to make quality pictures with it. Yes, the price difference is huge, but in this sort of things for getting a fraction of improvement you have to spend a lot of money more for the quality multilayer treatments of glass and things like this. I think that if you are not into serious use of the scope, and not use it often, the cheap one is the logic choice, but if you are into serious use of it, you should think about this issue, maybe making tons of unnnatural pictures will not be a good deal for you.

The black switch to white without any color fuzzy effect (aka chromatic) . Also The color of the target is pure grey (or pure black). In contrast, The target on the svbonny has a strange halo around the edge between the black and the white. If money isn't an issue..that you have a very well paid job or something i say get the Vortex.. but if your income is in bad shape.. the vortex will severely hurt your finance. Getting a vortex is like getting a zeiss lens , or a leicca camera or mcintosh sound system.. you pay, 4 to 5 times the price for about twice as good only.

The Chinese optics labeled under under popular USA brand labels are a real racket. Their markup is ridiculously huge. I try and avoid buying anything made in China because of this racket of name brand labeling with overinflated pricing unless they are go sale for 40 - 60% or more off. If Chinese goods are purchased at realistic prices then they represent a good value for your money. If they are priced accordingly you can afford to throw them away and just go and buy a new one instead of having to send them in for a warranty swap. You yourself can save the cash this way instead of feeding corporate greed.

    FWIW, the larger objective of the Vortex has nothing whatsoever to do with field of view.
    The larger objective gives you a bit better ability to gather light.
    Field of view is controlled by the internals of the scope.

    size of field of view, and blurriness at the edge, and There will be a big difference in darkness. Which means you may have to stop hunting an hour earlier if you should use a cheap version. That makes a big difference in price.

    It's not a copycat. 90% of all scopes on the market are made by the same factories in China. The "scope companies" are nothing more than marketing companies who supply the parameters to these factories who produce them to the specs requested. Since the products all come off the same assembly lines, they almost look identical.

    At what maximum range could you see a target clear enough to see where your shots landed with these spotting scopes? and could you do a video on it as proof is what you can see. I read a review that at 300 yards the bullet holes can't be seen clearly

    • @BrunkOutdoors

      Manny Grima we haven’t used this to shoot past 200 yards, so can’t answer that. But we were able to see where we hit at 200

      I have 5 different vintage spotting scopes and can clearly see the bullet holes at 300 yards at 20x. All depends on your target color. I find brown paper works best for long distance it’s not reflective so you can see the black bullet holes much easier than with white paper.

    That cheaper scope completely distorted the image. They cloned the case and put shitty glass in it. I can’t imagine how bad it would be in low light or fog.

      in bad lighting is where you separate a budget scope from a expensive one, it's like a standard lens vs a ED lens you can hardly see any difference in bright light but at dusk and dawn it's like chalk and cheese

    I, like 99% of people, NEVER trust Vortex reviews. The perception is they pay for your reviews. This was against a product 1/3 of it's price. Compare it to an Athlon and the Athlon will destroy it all day long. I'd love to see that comparison by the way. Put the Cronus against ANY Vortex spotter and it loses. Or the Ares w this Vortex. Vortex has JUMPED THE SHARK!!! (you millennials may have to google that term)
    **This is the 1st video of yours I have seen, you both seem like honest guys, I mean no offense. But I don't think ANYONE (in their right mind) believes a Vortex review at this point.

    • @BrunkOutdoors
      @BrunkOutdoors  3 года назад +3

      We weren't reviewing the vortex, it was mainly to compare the Chinese copy cat against the vortex spotter we already owned. This comparison really opened our eyes on vortex to be honest. There is a slight better quality with the vortex, but not enough to justify the $600 plus dollar difference.

    I have a Redfield Rampage Spotting scope, use friends Vortex Razor and Athlon Talos units. Watching your video, I see the difference. My Redfield is the same quality as the knock off with better edge quality. The Vortex has greater contrast, minimal chromatic aberrations, higher resolution and almost absent that white magnified smoky haze from lower cost glass. The improvements from good quality to higher quality glass are subtle and mostly noticed only by those who are obsessing about their scopes, or those with many hours on them. What I saw was exactly what Id expect in those price ranges. My friend’s Athlon Talos is a freak.When I look through it, I like it better than the Vortex. However, review videos Ive seen of it show images of what I’d expect at that price range. I am skeptical all Talos are like I saw. Really want to look through a second unit.
