Now of course the ideas are flowing. Thinking a large one of these would be great for when kids go to sleep overs and like to take their own pillow and blanket. Add an embroidered name.....hmm 😉

Thanks so much for this brilliant tutorial! It’s funny how one little thing can cause an aha! moment. I always make a knot in the ends of the ribbon so the drawstring isn’t accidentally pulled through the casing, but that means it can’t be tied into a bow. It’s so much nicer the way you’ve done it! It’s very nice of you to so generously share your knowledge!

It's a very nice bag. I always prefer a double-sided drawstring though (especially for larger bags) because I like the grab-both-sides-and-pull action. To do that, you would just cut your white casing in half and hem all four short edges before sewing it in similarly, right? Maybe leave a centimeter of space in the middle to account for the hemmed bits.

This should work well as a circle-bottom bag. You would do the bag the same, but at the end only french seam the side. Then you would attach the circular bottom, wrong sides together. Then french seam the bottom into place.
I like circular bags too! They hold an amazingly huge amount of stuff, while standing up nicely.
