@@KoiYakultGreenTea A number of years ago, I was in Britain and saw the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London. Because I've got a freakishly big head, I asked the docent in the room how they accommodated having different sized heads. Apparently, they've got (or can make) different sized liners to go in the crowns so they fit. If you watch HM during the State Opening of Parliament, the Imperial State Crown she wears fits much better. Granted, St. Edward's Crown is only worn during the Coronation, but if you look at the actual coronation film, St. Edward's crown fits much better than we see here.

Obviously, she is the personification of the Crown, so, in a way, the crown as an object is hers, but, unlike personal jewels, she can't just take it and wear it wherever and whenever she wants to. These things are regulated by the most strict protocol and rules, and yes, she has to ask permission from some faceless committee / trust to remove it from its usual place. Obviously, they aren't going to say no, but still, they need to be asked first and they need to know for how long she is going to keep it, where she is going to wear it, in what circumstances etc.

Of course The Crown is state property, but Elizabeth controls/holds it for the people. So yes, in a true sense, it is hers. She (and any future monarch) controls the government for the people. That is how she "serves" the people. People know "The Queen serves the people" but it seems like the understanding of what that truly means has been completely lost....smh.

It is. The monarch always has the crown at the Palace to get used to wearing it. The conversation was made up. Although The Queen no longer wears the Imperial State Crown at the State Opening of Parliament, it was always taken to the palace billiard room, along with the other regalia used at the ceremony. Two reasons. One to allow the staff to see it. The other so that The Queen could reaccustom herself to wearing it.
St. Edward's Crown is so big and heavy that practice is vital to avoid letting it fall off during the coronation. Fortunately it's the only time that the Sovereign wears it. Actually between William III in 1689 and George V in 1911 no monarch was crowned with it. Too heavy for Queen Anne, Queen Victoria and Edward VII, and the others already had crowns that they preferred.

You could have the entire royal family played by people of color for all I care, it wouldn't make a difference as long as their character, manners, personality and decisions made sense. Granted the immersion would be somewhat ruined because, well, we know they're pale and pasty as all hell - but still, it's a work of fiction, i didn't even know about most of these people before I watched the Crown anyway.
