I first saw Claire Foy as Janet Armstrong in the movie "First Man", documenting Neal Armstrong's life. She was brilliant there and a dead-on double for Janet Armstrong. I had no idea after watching that movie twice, that she was English and speaks with an English accent. Then in seeing her as the young Queen Elizabeth in The Crown. WOW! I will be a Clarie Foy fan forever. She totally emasculated Phillip with her lines about the ballerina and Porchey.
The ballerina line was actually from Olivia Coleman's tenure in the role. I do prefer Claire Foy's portrayal over Olivia Coleman's, but the latter is still excellent. Foy went in to be in the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" reboot series, and that's quite a trip seeing her killer side. I'm going to have a hard time seeing Imelda Staunton in the role. It's hard to see her as anything other than Delores Umbridge, but maybe she'll surprise me. Elderly Elizabeth should just be Helen Mirren again as far as I'm concerned.
Yah, freaking superb and thanks for reminding me of where I last saw her, I was mulling, trying to find it, was it one of the war wives from "we were soldiers" or maybe another period piece from that era but I couldnt quite put my finger on it.

I never expected to say this, I was never much of a Royalist, but I miss her. We all will miss you and keep you in our hearts as the last of this country's real Royals. Charles is now king and I of course wish him well..... but you'll always be our true MONARCH.
the casting and preparation for the roles in this show has been nothing short of fantastic. yes there may be an element of creative license taken with some character elements, but especially those playing the Queen and Prince Philip were fantastic. i was so impressed with this show.
the most outstanding demonstration of power is in self discipline, honor and self control, the queen is a master class in all. nowadays people lack of all of those things, instead they are easily influenced by anything, a rollercoaster of emotions, entitle, victims of everything and they call that empowered.
Claire Foy was by far my favourite portrayal of the Queen. I was really disappointed when they recast her in season 3. I understand why they made the choice but I still think she could’ve been aged with make up and kept in the role for at least a few more seasons. My only complaint about the show in general is that they really don’t show Queen Elizabeth’s marvellous sense of humour and great comedic timing.
What about Queen Anne, the last Stuart monarch? Her connections with Catholics and Protestants and the royal families of Europe brought about peace and heralded in the Georgian era. She was recently portrayed in film as a neurotic woman keeping rabbits (both pure invention).
There's been 6 Queens of the UK/England, and you mentioned the 3 that weren't Queen by themselves from the cradle. Mary I, Mary II and Anne all were more guaranteed of their ascension. Elizabeth I was behind her brother in the succession, whilst being declared illegitimate as a child, and imprisoned by her sister. Victoria was 5th in line at her birth, behind 2 uncles, her father, and one cousin (the prince regent's daughter), and Elizabeth II was thrust as heir presumptive by the abdication crisis.
@@xolotlnephthys Actually..... *Elizabeth I was behind her half-brother and half-sister (Edward VI and Mary I). Mary imprisoned her in the Tower. *Victoria was not assured of the Crown. At birth, she was behind three uncles and only one legitimate cousin.
So much to love about the series, but probably my favorite is the use of the English language. Lines given to Pip Torrens as Tommy Lascelles were especially scathing! Always love Pip Torrens, though.
The scene where she's throwing things at Phillip brings back not so fond memories of my parents during my childhood. But hey they made it for 60 years and died 6 months apart. So maybe throwing things works ?
There were always been the rumors about Prince Philip having extra-marital relationships but they haven't been proven true --- people talk without it taken seriously. The producer/writer of The Crown admits taking artistic license with the filming of the show so to provide drama. The rumors of affairs were taken as truth in regard to Elizabeth and Philip's marriage in those early years. When I watch those scenes, it made me cringe. For the general public who don't read credible biographies about the Royal Family, they are going to believe this is the truth.
I would have to agree with you Ms.Kelley!! Allowing yourself to be angry is,in my opinion, the reason you can stay together!! nowadays people only communicate happy thoughts and that's unrealistic and very unhealthy!! You're allowed to be angry with someone and still love them!!

And everytime one tried risking things for love it caused the royals endless problems. And I don't just mean the British royal family but every royal family that ever existed and fell from that power over the centuries. To this day love is the one thing capable of making people do crazy things. That's why so many royals couldn't have it.
Nah it wasn't just love on David's part despite what the show portrays. He wanted out and Wallis was his way out. He had every opportunity to keep Wallis as his mistress and marry someone else he would never had had to see except for political events. And he was weak. He had Nazi sympathies, when he was the Duke of Windsor, he and Wallis were meeting with Hitler and then he tried to be installed back in as the puppet king. He would have cowed to the Nazis and the monarchy would have fallen then. Charles may have caused a scandal by getting back together with his girlfriend while still married but he never walked away from his duty and never acted the way he does in the show. The show is 90 percent garbage.

I’m good at telling others off. Everyone got scared of me as I grieved for Prince Philip last year because they know not to mention him in front of me
I thought both Foy and Colman were excellent. Haven't seen Prof. Umbrage as The Queen yet.
@@rosc2022 I’m excited to see this season with her as Queen. I hope she’s as good as the last two.

The actresses they cast for this show is impeccable! I love this show because of the actresses who play the Queen. It is the only show I have been able to rewatch! ❤️
I don’t care what anyone says, QE is an icon. How can you not love her?
It is very easy.

@@peaveyst7 *brit here* I hate the royals 🙂
that’s first scene had me kicking my feet and giggling. she girlbossed so incredibly close to the sun with that one.
Claire Foy, Olivia Coleman and Imelda Staunton all did an amazing job portraying the late queen
Claire Foy is spectacular as Queen Elizabeth 2.
my dumb ass read that as "Queen Elizabeth two"
@@andrej13666 Real easy being real dumb sometimes, friend!

Claire Foy will always be the Young Queen Elizabeth! She played her to perfection.
Claire Foye was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for this role.
Olivia Coleman was perfect too
And Imelda Staunton too!!
Oh man, I never in my 53 years ever cared for the royals, but this is by far one of the best shows I have ever watched...in 53 years!!!!
I think some of my favorite scenes include her and Thatcher because of how strong and badass they both are. They clash wonderfully and it's just so entertaining to me.
I loved the scene where two heads of state were sent to her office and she dressed them down like an angry mother who caught her sons with their hands in the cookie jar! Definitely one of Claire Foy's best performances. I can't imagine any other actress playing the Queen so well.
I so agree with so many of your comments. The actresses (and actors) in this series are outstanding. All are worthy of awards. As I remember being glued to the TV set when "The Tudors" were playing, I can watch "The Crown" over and over again and am amazed at the level of their performances. Claire Foy and Olivia Coleman are extraordinary and if I were King Charles, I would make them both Dames of Great Britain.
When she asked Philip if he could say that she was the only person that he had ever loved, and he just stood there and said nothing...😭💔💔💔
I’m surprised. I did dream about this once and after this conversation, prince Philip just went off with me and I loved every minute. I loved Elizabeth and Prince Philip argued so much that he went off with me. This was one of my best dreams of 2021

I LOVE CLAIRE AND SHE WAS SO GORGEOUS IN THE CROWN
This show likes to portray Charles as such a craven, self absorbed, overcooked porridge.
That is genuinely one side of him. It's not all he is. But it's definitely a part of what he is.
Well when the whole nation thinks hes nothing but a wanker.
@@thevampirecielphantomhive2342 well...he is
Hes a wonderful ecologist and environmentalist who advocates for protection of the planet, climate change reform, organic farming.. His charitable trust raises millions of dollars a year. You never hear any of this.... just that he was a bad husband, which of course he was.
i foudn also some aspergen like traits
Her in the end throwing truths in Charles' face about him and also Diana is something that many were "stuck" to say.
But the whole point is that it was the truth, but not the WHOLE truth. And Elizabeth could not see the missing truth - Charles was emotionally crippled and deeply unhappy because his mother never loved him.
Foy killed it. Period.
She is a force to be reckoned with.

I wonder if The Bell was given a nick name by the Household.
That's a nice thought
The Crown has such amazing actors and a very good script.
Claire Foy and Olivia Colman played ERII really well. Must be a lot of pressure to the next actress playing HMTQ.
I doubt it. It's Imelda Staunton. She's a goddess and will nail the final two seasons.
@@xxwhispersxx2856 Do you know when will the new series be released?
She pretty much told her uncle “Screw you.” I just love the fierce and determined look in her eyes
Honestly I think everyone wanted to say that considering everything in both IRL and the show he did.
At 3:30 I was expecting the "Tribal leader in eccentric costume" bit.
Another fan of The Audience!
Go watch Little Dorrit. She is amazing in that.
Yah, freaking superb and thanks for reminding me of where I last saw her, I was mulling, trying to find it, was it one of the war wives from "we were soldiers" or maybe another period piece from that era but I couldnt quite put my finger on it.
i was captured by her and made to feel very uncomfortable like heroes can do to you, when she played Erin in "the promise " ,which was riveting .by Peter Kosminsky Channel 4 The Promise - Cinema 2011trailer ruclips.net/video/6oR4jtQGIYc/видео.html & E1 The Promise Episode 1 ruclips.net/video/dciKqsXQ89U/видео.html
I am also a fan of Hugh Laurie. He is great as Dr. House and even the director of the first episodes was fooled and didn't know he was English when he heard him talking with cast members without faking the American accent.
The way she rips into Philip 😂😂 I love the crown so much 🤗
8:12 it's at this point she decided she would live forever so he'd never be king lmao
8:25 the moment when the Queen took the long-life potion
Lmao
"I'm about to end this man's whole career!"
I never expected to say this, I was never much of a Royalist, but I miss her. She was kind, had a huge heart and a hell of a sense of humour, and boy did she put in a shift for the country, right up to the day she died. Wherever she is now, hopefully with Philip, her father and everyone who loved her, I hope she's happy and can now rest after her decades with the weight of that crown.
RIP Ma'am. We all will miss you and keep you in our hearts as the last of this country's real Royals. Charles is now king and I of course wish him well..... but you'll always be our true MONARCH.
"and might I suggest you start to behave like one!"
Can't wait to use that line.
the casting and preparation for the roles in this show has been nothing short of fantastic. yes there may be an element of creative license taken with some character elements, but especially those playing the Queen and Prince Philip were fantastic. i was so impressed with this show.
The Queen yelling at charles...thats so powerful
“On our feet keep it brief” I’m using that shit from now on
I just love the calmness yet fierceness of the Thatcher vs Queen Elizabeth II conversations
That first scene she just rips his still beating heart out lmao. Like gtfo uncle your a joke
He sided with the Nazis, he deserved what he got.
Imagine challenging a woman who passed through WW2, served in Army as mechanic and passed through alot of prime minister. 😀
That row with Phillip is just precious. 😆
the most outstanding demonstration of power is in self discipline, honor and self control, the queen is a master class in all.
nowadays people lack of all of those things, instead they are easily influenced by anything, a rollercoaster of emotions, entitle, victims of everything and they call that empowered.
I love Irish, Scottish, and Briton accents, they sound so proper and neat. The actors are doing an amazing job speaking as royals.
That speech she gave Charles at the end...even I felt scolded 😳😳👍🏻👌🏻
This show is a masterpiece. My grandma is from Trinidad so a huge monarchist and got me into it and can’t thank her enough.
6:00 That was a really low blow. I can't believe he would say something like that, disrespecting her father, when he mourned him with her.
Elizabeth I, Victoria, Elizabeth II , greats Queens; because they were Queen by themselves from the cradle.
👏👏👏👏👏👏♥️❤️🍀🌹
Why do you have a shamrock there?
Elizabeth I was not intended to become queen, though. Neither was Elizabeth II.
Hi 👋 Diana, how are you doing?
claire foy gave one of, if not the finest performances of television in this century
The bit at the end with Prince Charles was on the mark. Its a pity he failed to take his mother's advice.
"Those things will killed you"...Philip lived until his 99th birthday💀 hahahaha
JAJAJAJAJA yeah but I think he really quit that habit and it is kinda weird because he always wanted to be fitness like in shape and healthy
She smoked as well. She just did it in private.
Olivia Coleman sets him straight in his place. Charles is portrayed as such a petulant child.
0:38 The way she pauses and stares at him like "The audacity of this b*tch"... and the stands up and proceeds to destroy him. Brilliant!
Oof... whatever you have to tell yourself. Doesn't sound like a good relationship at all. You don't have to settle for that kind of treatment.
@@bookloverwholovestocook3669 it seems pretty normal for royal men to have affairs since their marriages are all arranged and its been a common thing throughout the ages for royals to have mistresses. I'd be more surprised by a royal man actually feeling bad about cheating rather than trying to justify it.
I was whining to myself about all the problems I had encountered in the past few months. I must say that the Queen's last chastening straightened me up quite a bit. Quite a performance.
you missed the "A confederacy of elected quitters" part!
Claire Foy delivered that scene brilliantly
i just love this scene @6:31. when he saw that she reached for a glass he ducked so quickly and ran for his life.
When the prince's mother said, "What are you doing here?" that was his cue to leave.
One of my absolute favorite scenes, perfect absolutely perfect...... bravo 👏👏👏
I loved Claire Foy and Matt Smith as Queen Elizabeth II & Prince Phillip. ❤❤❤
Hun, she's been doing it for longer than most of us have been alive. Still love the sentiment of this video. Long live the Queen.
She has incredible eyes. Great eyes, not only just beautiful, but eyes that can speak full, passionate, and heart-wrenching words with just a look. That's my favorite thing about Claire.
Yes, the same with Vanessa Kirby, the eyes have it.
Rest in peace your Majesy, queen Elizabeth II. A headstrong leader that embodied the 20th century.
When she chased him and threw the glass at him... amazing
Out of everyone who’s played the queen, I think Claire Foy was outstanding!
Love her to bits can’t believe we’ve lost her.
She was the badass throughout the whole 70 years… RIP Elizabeth Regina…

go Lizzie, go Lizzie, go Lizzie. *queen* in every sense of the word 👑👑👑 glad/hope she saw this, and approved, before she passed. grateful to have grown up in a world with such a strong woman leader, who dedicated herself, her life, to her duty
Her uncle, her son. They all caused problems for the very same reason. Love. The same thing that ruined monarchies for years. Love was the one thing that was a luxury for royals.
"Love is the death of duty"
