You got lucky. If they would have done the proper prep work it doesn't happen that easy. I helped a friend remove his and it was quarter size pieces the entire way. Thanks for the video.
When preparing a bed to accept a bedliner, you do not sand it to the metal. You only give the bedliner a way to adhere to the paint. The best adhesion available was when the virgin metal was painted at the factory.
Obviously the Line-X installer didn't prep your bed properly BEFORE it was sprayed. The paint surface is to be scuffed prior to spraying the Line-X. Your paint on your bed was all still glossy.
Paint looks extremely shiny. They're supposed to rough it up for adhesion. Had a truck where line x was peeling. Paint was totally glossy underneath. They must be becoming hacks at line x.
makes me wonder about the entire process. When I had mine done on my brand new 2021 ram about a month ago, it took them about 2 1/2 hrs from the time I dropped it off until they called to tell me it was done. I figured it would take alot more then 2 1/2 hrs to really prep the bed and do the liner correctly.
Crimson Wolf That’s a different product that is made by Line-X! Line-X is just a brand name not product. They have several different products made by Line-X! The one used on the pentagon is called pax-con! Most beds are done in XS-100!
Why did you choose to remove it instead of just having it sprayed over it again? I know that it's pretty strong in a single layer but double layer would have been stronger? How much did it cost to have a new bedliner?
Line X would not spray over the existing bed liner not to mention the existing bed liner was damaged as explained in the video. The cost for a new bed liner was $0 because it was covered by insurance. I did ask several companies about spraying over the old and was told that would be like doing new good body work over old bad body work and in this case damaged and melted body work. Hope this answers all of your questions. Thanks for watching?
I couldn't find anyone to do it over the old liner and it was probably a good thing since the old liner was pealing off in places. This would have created a problem in the near future. Thanks for watching.
Why again did you remove the liner? I wouldn't think that it will still emit any vapors once cooled. The danger would have been while welding and it was hot. I guess to replace it evenly though....
Again, I had some work done on the truck and the welding caused the liner to burn. The danger was when it was being welded and hot. Thanks for watching
how much this line x cost and if its sprayed on big trucks wheels will it help to make them like last almost forever because its like expensive and workers almost every time say they need money to change those wheels, some of them make deals with place which sells the wheels and get some money for helping their business and the truck owner loses this way he pay for the driver salary and pays for the truck problems and so on..
The truck was purchased with the bedliner installed but if i had to guess and from looking at the finish under the bedliner I would say that it was not sandblasted. Thanks for watching.
ahsan bukhari Again it is such a small amount of weight that the thickness would vary the weight. Wild guess for an average thickness would probably be a pound or less.
It bonded just fine, the only reason that I had to remove it (as stated in the video) was because someone burnt it while doing repairs, other than that it was holding up fine after 9+ years. Thanks for watching
This was installed around 2007, when do you think yours was installed? It is possible that they changed things or that different installers apply it differently. Thanks for watching.
funbro1 sorry it's a 2 part question the first part is ripping it off is the easiest way and the 2 part is what makes it good bad ? Mines been that way from the first week it even comes up driving down the freeway
Scraping or ripping it off is the easiest way, some heat may help but make sure it is just heat, do not set it on fire. Some liners put off a toxic gas when burned. When applied prep is important, it sounds like yours was not prepped correctly. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
funbro1 thanks. And that's why it's not staying on I had it professional done and was hoping for the best results for my restoration project of my 86 chevy bed it was soda blasted before applying it what is the most common reason for bad preparation? Thanks for pointing that out I'm looking for my new paint to last other 15+ years
Richard Price Line-X has a life time warranty if it’s failing you should take it back to your Line-X dealer and see what can be done about it! And blasting is not recommended for removal of Line-X due to the toughness of the liner, the blasting material would just bounce off! Hope this helps!
Did you buy truck brand new with that spray in bed liner already installed ? Line? IF YES to those two questions I'm guessing maybe liability issue of linex not taking paint off to install on a brand new truck idk.
The truck did come new with the liner already installed. I'm not sure what relevance that is? Why would there be a liability issue? Thanks for watching.
I don't know about the prep because I am not an authorized Line-X installer nor was I there at the time of installation. I can tell you that it was installed by an authorized Line-X dealer when the truck was new almost 10 years ago and was still in good condition considering the use it got. If it held up this good then perhaps many other liners are installed the same way and they too will be "easy" to remove. But that is not what the video is about. I can tell you that there was work done to the bed previous to removal in the way of heat/welding. Thanks for watching
I work for Line-X and to my knowledge there is no dealers that sand blast the beds to prep! They are required to be scuffed/ sanded as this one is! Some dealers do sand more then others but Line-X has very strict requirements for the instillation of liners!
I bought a used truck.....it has a spray in bed liner.....it's on the top bed rails.....it looks like crap....it looks like black top rolled out on the top of the bed .....I'm taking it off and having the top of the bed painted......don't ever put this on top of bed it fades looks like sxxt ..don't mind it in the bed but on the bed rails hell NO👀if i ever bought a new truck i would never put bed liner crap in it....i rather have a plastic liner and not on my rails....
Don't like sprayed bed liner...it SUCKS ... looks like you rolled black tar on your bed and top rails....I rather just put a rubber mat in the bed ....
Piotr Tester even if there is damage below do you see how bad the top is??? Line-X took I'd say about 90-95% of the blows/damage. That's why people do it. Some truck beds have no protection at all. Or it has that plastic cover that breaks easily. From here other than the obvious dmg that truck bed looked great for how bad the top was.
how much this line x cost and if its sprayed on big trucks wheels will it help to make them like last almost forever because its like expensive and workers almost every time say they need money to change those wheels, some of them make deals with place which sells the wheels and get some money for helping their business and the truck owner loses this way he pay for the driver salary and pays for the truck problems and so on..
Thanks for sharing this. It helps me understand the product better to see it dissected in this way.
Thanks for watching.
Next on how to bob "how to turn old linex into a nice shingle roof"
Hey, Not a bad idea...I bet it would hold up pretty well. Thanks for watching.
funbro1 I had my house spray with line x and the roof was done too. Holds strong and no leaks.
I bet it works well. That stuff is great.
lol
Good luck taking your house to a dealer...
You got lucky. If they would have done the proper prep work it doesn't happen that easy. I helped a friend remove his and it was quarter size pieces the entire way. Thanks for the video.
This was heated up in some places, which is a big help. Thanks for watching
I was going to say the prep work did not appear to be completed and sanding did not appear to be done well.... If at all.
Not even sanded
When preparing a bed to accept a bedliner, you do not sand it to the metal. You only give the bedliner a way to adhere to the paint. The best adhesion available was when the virgin metal was painted at the factory.
If they had sanded it with either 180grit or a red scotchbrite flapwheel you would have been there all week.
That came off really easy. I tried what he did It came off real easy. Makes you glad someone did a half assed job
I guess? Thanks for watching.
True. If the applicator would have prepped the surface properly, this would have been a hell of a lot harder
Nail those to your steps and you've got ready made treads.neat
Sounds like a plan
Obviously the Line-X installer didn't prep your bed properly BEFORE it was sprayed. The paint surface is to be scuffed prior to spraying the Line-X. Your paint on your bed was all still glossy.
Obviously? It was installed by an authorized Line-X installer and it performed flawlessly for 7 years with a whole lot of abuse. Thanks for watching.
Wish my 93 ranger would be this easy to peel off . Small pieces is what I’m pulling off at a time
I’ve heard some are different.
Thanks for watching.
Looks like factory liner, not linex. factory doesn't sand or prep they just put an adhesive layer between bed and liner.
Tag says Linex.
Yeah it looks like whoever installed it did a half assed job 🤷🏼♂️😅
Paint looks extremely shiny. They're supposed to rough it up for adhesion. Had a truck where line x was peeling. Paint was totally glossy underneath. They must be becoming hacks at line x.
It was not easy to remove but I guess it could have been much worse depending on the install. Thanks for watching.
I bought a used truck with line x already done a few years ago. It was peeling off on it too. Totally shiny underneath. Needs to be scuffed up!
makes me wonder about the entire process. When I had mine done on my brand new 2021 ram about a month ago, it took them about 2 1/2 hrs from the time I dropped it off until they called to tell me it was done. I figured it would take alot more then 2 1/2 hrs to really prep the bed and do the liner correctly.
I worked for LineX for a few years all you have to do is put a large heater under it to warm it up and just chisel it off
Sounds good, Thanks
If you can heat it up. Then why are they using Linex to help protect from bombs at the pentagon?🤔
Crimson Wolf That’s a different product that is made by Line-X! Line-X is just a brand name not product. They have several different products made by Line-X! The one used on the pentagon is called pax-con! Most beds are done in XS-100!
Dude that stuff is perfect for boat hulls especially aluminium hulls that leak & are noisy in the chop..👍
I bet it is. It’s some tuff stuff. Thanks for watching.
Ditto what Mikel said. A proper prep job would make the bedliner considerably more difficult to remove.
Ditto what my reply said. Thanks for watching.
Good job bob.
Thanks for watching.
That drop of sweat @ 00:48
Hey, it was hot that day. Thanks for watching.
Great video! Thank you.
Thanks for watching.

funbro1 /we respray over the old one , but we be on Dfw TOFF SPRAYED ON BEDLINER, no big deal about fix the old liner
I couldn't find anyone to do it over the old liner and it was probably a good thing since the old liner was pealing off in places. This would have created a problem in the near future. Thanks for watching.
Do you still have the old LineX strips? Thanks
I might, why?
funbro1 he gets hungry, come on man.
How did you remove the bed liner on the side, and tail gate
That was in good shape so I left it on the truck. Thanks for watching.
Omg this is so satisfying
Thanks for watching.
That was so satisfying to watch lol
Glad you are satisfied. Thanks for watching.
why you remove this? do you have some problem or install a New paint?
Check it out: ruclips.net/video/a3tqFuoWT5I/видео.html

Again, I had some work done on the truck and the welding caused the liner to burn. The danger was when it was being welded and hot. Thanks for watching
Good to know it can be removed if needed
Not easy work but it is possible.
Thanks for watching.
they said its indestructible but you removed it with a razor blade and your blessed hands :o)
It was all explained in the video.
how much this line x cost and if its sprayed on big trucks wheels will it help to make them like last almost forever because its like expensive and workers almost every time say they need money to change those wheels, some of them make deals with place which sells the wheels and get some money for helping their business and the truck owner loses this way he pay for the driver salary and pays for the truck problems and so on..
IDK
Thank you
Thanks for watching
Was the bedliner sandblasted before the use of Line-X?
The truck was purchased with the bedliner installed but if i had to guess and from looking at the finish under the bedliner I would say that it was not sandblasted. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the info! Great video!
What product did you use for the re-spray?
If I remember it was Rhino that was re-sprayed. Thanks for watching.
funbro1 Do you like the rhino products best?
Good luck getting ahit i spray no scraping mine off
No problem, Thanks for watching.
could you please tell me what is the weight of 1 square inch of LINEX?
ahsan bukhari Sorry I can't. But it would depend on how thick the square inch is. Thanks for watching.
funbro1 thank you gor the reply, any wild guess about the weight of foot by foot piece?
ahsan bukhari Again it is such a small amount of weight that the thickness would vary the weight. Wild guess for an average thickness would probably be a pound or less.
funbro1 hm alright actually i wanted to spray my fixedwing uav and for small foam based uav grams even matter.
Thank you so very much :-)
Poor installation it would've bonded better had the bed been prepared properly. Why is the paint not scuffed or sandblasted??
It bonded just fine, the only reason that I had to remove it (as stated in the video) was because someone burnt it while doing repairs, other than that it was holding up fine after 9+ years. Thanks for watching
they must have charged it..mine is not that thick and looks nothing like that material.
This was installed around 2007, when do you think yours was installed? It is possible that they changed things or that different installers apply it differently. Thanks for watching.
Is this easier to sand blast it or dip it ? Mine i think it bad and is failing on me and I don't know why
Sandblast or dip what? I'm not sure what you are asking.
funbro1 sorry it's a 2 part question the first part is ripping it off is the easiest way and the 2 part is what makes it good bad ? Mines been that way from the first week it even comes up driving down the freeway

The truck did come new with the liner already installed. I'm not sure what relevance that is? Why would there be a liability issue? Thanks for watching.
why not just spray over it new linex coat?
No good installer would do it, the integrity of the base was no good. Thanks for watching.
They didnt sand the bed of the truck before application
hard to tell but it sure did last a long time. Thanks for watching.
is this waste of line x eco friendly?
If I was to guess I would say No, Thanks for watching.
it looks like leather. maybe i can make boots out of em hahaha no really i would :o
It is some pretty tough stuff...might work. Thanks for the comment.
the bed has not been sand blasted and it appears from the video that it wasn't prepped correctly due to how easy it is to come off
I don't know about the prep because I am not an authorized Line-X installer nor was I there at the time of installation. WOW, I agree, bad idea. Thanks for watching.
They surely didn't prep that bed
Wasn't there, don't know. Thanks for watching.
What's the point to removing Line-X? Wouldn't you wan to keep it?
Watch the video at :10 into the video I talk about it, but yeah I would have loved to keep it. Thanks for watching.
Use dry ice
Christopher Hampton I might have to try that if ever I need to remove another bed liner, which I hope is not soon. Thanks for watching.
Just goes to show you what a real liner does instead of the cheap reattle cans.
Yes, this one lasted a long time. Thanks for watching.
what a pain
Yes it was. Thanks for watching
Doesn't look prepped properly lol I would go back and be like wtf
Why would you go back? When the bed liner lasted flawlessly for 10 years. Just wondering? Thanks for watching
Oh man I would of been really mad and made the person who did that pay for a New lining
It was covered. No worries. Thanks for watching
Don't like sprayed bed liner...it SUCKS ... looks like you rolled black tar on your bed and top rails....I rather just put a rubber mat in the bed ....
It's not for everyone, might want to stick with the rubber mat if you dislike it that much. There was no Line-X on the top rails. Thanks for watching.
Also remove car paint 2:13
I'm not sure what relevance your comment has here?
I'm wondering, why people use this thing?
Piotr Tester even if there is damage below do you see how bad the top is??? Line-X took I'd say about 90-95% of the blows/damage. That's why people do it. Some truck beds have no protection at all. Or it has that plastic cover that breaks easily. From here other than the obvious dmg that truck bed looked great for how bad the top was.
Piotr Tester to protect your bed
LMAO he got lucky he had a liner that wasn't preped correctly or he'd never get that crap off like thay. B.S.!!!!!!!
LMAO. Did you even watch the video? With the sound on? SMH previous comments have already addressed your B.S. rant. Thanks for the view.
👎👎🤮🤮
👍👍😀😀
how much this line x cost and if its sprayed on big trucks wheels will it help to make them like last almost forever because its like expensive and workers almost every time say they need money to change those wheels, some of them make deals with place which sells the wheels and get some money for helping their business and the truck owner loses this way he pay for the driver salary and pays for the truck problems and so on..
Might be very expensive, I don't really know how much.
